I spent quite some time yesterday yelling about Star Trek with the wonderful @regionalpancake and @curator-on-ao3, and I need to share their comedic genius with the world!

We were talking about how, if the Zhat Vash are so extremely opposed to synthetic life and any form of AI, could they possibly manage to hack the androids on Mars and to cause them to go rogue? To which Curator commented:

“I’m an iPhone user and I couldn’t hack an android!”

This was followed some time later by a discussion about how in recent Trek, there has been an increasing distinction between People Who Matter and Those Who Don’t. And how its encumbent upon the people who are less significant for the fate of the world to sacrifice themselves for the Important People.

With regards to this, Pancakes observed of Rose (from Dr Who), a character who thinks she is unimportant and whom the Doctor tells that There Are No Unimportant People:

“If she were a Star Trek character, Rose would have been cannon fodder.”

Curator: “You mean... canon fodder? :D”

Holo-Tech Database

Over the last seven or so months, I have watched through every episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It’s the first time I’ve seen the entire series, there were quite a few episodes in the later seasons I’d never seen before. Quite an enjoyable experience on the whole.

But because I’m me, of course I didn’t just watch TNG. Instead, I took notes every single time the holodeck or any other piece of holo-technology played a part in the plot, were the setting for even the briefest of scenes, or so much as got mentioned. Essentially, I’m building towards a database of every little scrap of canonical information about holo-technology that I can get my hand on. And this was a start.

I haven’t had the time or energy to look through all of my notes in detail. There is a lot of information in there already. Of course, I’ll only be able to draw any real conclusions once I add in all the data from DS9, Voyager, and PIC, (since I’m interested in the state of technology at the time La Sirena is in operation, because of course that’s what this is about), but it’ll be quite a while before I get there.

So, in lieu of any detailed analysis, here are some quick impressions of my first foray into holo-episode-tracking!

30 Days of Picard Postivity

With just over 30 days to go, the premiere of Star Trek: Picard season 2 (3rd March in the US, 4th March internationally) is fast approaching, and I for one cannot wait to get back into the world I fell in love with two years ago. Thirty days is quite some time, however, and even though new trailers and promo pics seem to be dropping daily, I felt like we could use something to tide us over until March.

After the long hiatus, I think this is the perfect time to revisit all the things we enjoyed about season 1. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has forgotten a lot of the details of those episodes, and who would love to see some of the wonderful characters, locations, and stories back on my dash. So, without further ado:

Massive Picard Season 2 Spoilers Ahead

So the latest episode of The Ready Room, the Star Trek recap show hosted by Wil Wheaton, had a preview of Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard. It's interviews with all of the main actors and they explain in some detail where they're characters are at at the beginning of season 2.

It puts a lot of shots from the trailers in perspective and I have a lot of thoughts that I want to share, but because this is a very, very explicit spoilery preview, I'm putting both the video and my initial reaction under the cut.

My #1 post of 2022

I just had a realization about why Agnes Jurati’s story in Star Trek: Picard season 2 feels so wrong to me, and I am going to inflict it on all of you!

Spoilers for the entirety of season 2 ahead! CW: Mention of depression, PTSD, anxiety, and emotional manipulation

(NB: I’m going to completely disregard the discrepancy in Agnes’s character between seasons 1 and 2. I think when you take Agnes’s story and development from the first season into account, her “arc” in season 2 falls apart completely. But for the sake of this argument, I’m going to meet the season 2 writers on their terms. I’m going to ignore the character of season 1 Agnes, and instead will simply look at season 2′s Jurati to explain why I think the story the writers gave her falls flat.)

I was taking notes for a way-too-long essay about my problems with PIC season 2 (which I may or may not write eventually), and I was trying to put into words why it always irks me when people say merging with the Borg Queen was a satisfying end to Jurati’s arc.

What I was never able to put my finger on until now is that when the Borg Queen and Jurati merge at the end of episode 9, that’s not actually the culmination of Jurati’s arc. It’s the Queen’s.

Rant on last night (Spoilers for One Chicago)

Okay, so last night was hard for the One Chicago lovers. I slept on it and have come to terms with what happened and wanted to say this: I am not mad that two fan-favorite ships got "horrible" endings, I don't watch PD anymore so I can't say anything relating to that except they ended up getting his decision to leave correct and make it be a very Jay thing to do. However with Fire, It's not that Hawkins died I mean I'm upset because I really liked the actor, it was the fact that within two episodes they decided to torture the paramedics Violet probably more than Brett although Brett broke up with essentially the love of her life and the next episode was almost murdered by one of her paramedicine patients. It seems that all characters on the show are always happy or at least rarely have bad things happen to them. Every season however the paramedics seem to be the target of all the bad things that tend to happen on the show. Especially Brett in the last few seasons. Now, this is just my opinion feel free to argue it, but again I'm not really angry that they blew up ships, I'm mad at the writing that sets up trauma for the characters. I understand that they want to add a challenge to the characters' lives and that Violet hasn't really experienced trauma since she has been on the show, but also why do this? Although this will hurt Violet way more than Brett like 100x more it still affects her because as we have seen in promo pics she has to deal with a new partner for the next episode. Feel free to argue my rant any way you choose.

Wait, so now Brett and Violet, have both lost relationships they loved. Violet actually lost Hawkins so that's a little different than Brett and Casey breaking up, but still, seriously why am I surprised this always happens, what I've learned is never get invested in a ship on One Chicago, because most of them end up going down the drain.

All my thoughts during the Blue Bloods Premiere

Erin and Jack have been together this entire time! I am really enjoying this episode and I love how Jamie was like “maybe I don’t want to be the quiet one anymore” I was like finally!!!

Jamie got shot! Even though I knew and know he is going to survive it still gives a rush of panic. I also didn’t realize he would get shot that early in the gunfight.

Jamie and Eddie have always been my favorite characters and they are confirming how much I like them in this episode.

I forgot how much I really love this show and how much fun it is to watch! This premiere has been amazing so far! It has yet to disappoint me!

That was one of my favorite premieres of this Tv season. It had some incredibly wholesome scenes and was beautifully written. I loved every minute of it and how all the storylines were connected in someway.

here is a post of Why I Like Nanamaru Sanbatsu which may or may not also be a Reasons Why You Should Watch Nanamaru Sanbatsu but it’s not made with the intent of persuasion and more of me just gushing over things because this isn’t spoiler friendly

1) Niche Sport

I’m not a stranger to “Sport but it doesn’t involve Ball or Sweat”. That’s a lie, the players sweat a lot in Chihayafuru. The fact that Sasaijma (and then another character in the later chapters in the manga) refer to Karuta is a reason enough to pick up the series. Hikaru no Go was one of my earlier sports anime as well. It’s not like I was a fan of Go or Karuta either but the way the characters wholeheartedly loved what they were doing (and competitively), it made me love it as well. The same definitely goes for Quiz Bowl. While the two I listed were something I completely had no clue how the rules go, Quiz Bowl is a bit more obvious so it’s easier to get into.

(kinda hate these promo pics because there looks like so many fcking charas but really you just need to remember like 5 of them)

2) Nerdy Protag in a Sports anime

Actually coming from YowaPeda, Crunchyroll recommended this amongst other things. YowaPeda did the trope a lot better, given that you’d never associate an Otaku with Biking while a Bookworm being associated with Quiz Bowl does not seem unheard of. But the idea of a nerdy protagonist in a competitive sport was still an allure.

And oops, I think Koshiyama is a cutie so there’s a huge bias towards that. The fact that Horie Shun who voices Enta Jinnai from Sarazanmai voices Koshiyama Shiki gave me a laugh and he actually fits his role very well. Further emphasizes his cuteness without Enta’s weird gay crush lol

3) Ishikawa Kaito

I’m not above watching anime for seiyuu reasons alone but I actually went in blind with this series and to my surprise one of my favs was in it. I’d known Kaito mostly for Kageyama Tobio first, but he’s gone through so many other roles that I enjoy (Kaki from Pokemon SM, Iida from BokuHero, Mimura Subaru from 2.43) and I’ve watched a lot of seiyuu events/radios with him so I’m just a big fan of him in general. Dunno if I should have just merged this point with the next but-

4) Mikuriya Chisato

Kaito has The Range and can do whatever role he wants (I’m most impressed by his role as Alan from BNA) but I think I have a weakness for when he’s slightly an asshole. Mikuriya gave off the generic rival trope, which he kind of is. I got some Subaru vibes from him as well. I don’t know if he’s canonically handsome, but yes I think he’s very good looking for an anime character. Plus the fact that he’s The Cool Guy but is participating in such a sport as Quiz Bowl. AND the moe gap that is his feminine sounding first name and the possibility that he might also actually be an otaku is 👌👌👌👌

My friend had tagged something with him as “Chazz Princeton with a haircut” and while Not Entirely, he is the “We are not friends, we are rivals but I interact and help you enough that we are practically friends but i will continue to deny it” and I love that trope. The way he’s so not interested in Gorls or Nonsense reminds me of Manga Manjoume, though nowhere as serious because he is not above nonsense himself.

5) Fukami Mari

The moment she was introduced, I had very low expectations for her. Of course she is the one that drags Koshiyama into the Quiz Bowl world BUT she doesn’t fall into the trope of “Female is very good at The Thing, BUT Newbie Male MC does it better than her almost immediately”. I’m so glad for that because as you go on with the series, she is very much an entire character and not just a female support cast.

She loves Quiz Bowl but she’s not the best or even very good at it. Her childhood friend from another school (which I was 75% betting that it was going to be a male and a potential love interest) turned out to be a female friend. Instead of “cat fight”, they are still very amicable towards each other and support each other but also acknowledge each other as rivals. The fact that Yuki had only started Quiz Bowl because of Mari but liked it enough to continue on by herself, I think that’s really great.

The anime doesn’t get to it, but she confronts her brother about why he quit Quiz Bowl and challenges him. She has her own goals and ambitions and you see her working on it. She also has her strengths and weaknesses and is a vital addition to the Buzou Quiz Team. Fukami Mari is A Good Girl and I won’t tolerate any slander towards her. The way the beginning of the series sexuallizes her via putting her and Koshiyama into generic anime situations is so uncomfortable but I’m glad they move past that later.

Also since their group isn’t technically a Club (?) Mari isn’t just Female Manager. A plus to Quiz Bowl being Co-Ed sport.

6) Quiz Questions

I like trivia. It’s a little harder to guess the questions along with the anime because you’d have to pause all the time and half the time the contestants are going to buzz in early before you hear the entire question. Unfortunately, unless you actually are a fan of random knowledge or a huge nerd, the questions might actually be hard as well. I literally only knew about 3 questions asked in the entire series and its the anime/manga related ones lol. Still, I enjoyed seeing the characters draw their conclusions and to know what each character’s strong and weak points were. (Mikuriya using Math to calculate the Day of the Week from the past was 😚👌)

7) Side Characters

The first one I’m thinking is obviously Sonohara Akira. The moment of his first appearance, I had a hunch that it wasn’t exactly as it looked. He’s a little schemer but he has his own code of ethics, so he’s not all that bad. (Also hes A Gamer, so Relatable.) The fact that he’s related to Sonohara of Asagaoka makes it all the more interesting because they're’ so different. The way everyone reacts to him is so interesting because he doesn’t take it seriously while everyone else does. My favorite interactions with him aside from the Akiba Squad are the ones with Ookura. (I actually prefer to ship them over Niina/Akira lol)

Sasajima, mysterious Quiz Master with a past related to Fukami’s brother, who used to go to the Prestigious Quiz King School. Character wise, he doesn’t seem interesting but I love his idea of what a Quiz Bowl should be. My favorite parts of a series is when they love the thing they do, and that having fun is what is the most important. Of course you have to be fairly good at the thing first to be able to enjoy yourself freely but he never brags and is a supportive senpai.

Jinko. She’s cute. That’s good enough for me lol. I guess her Electronics Thing is also pretty cool. I like seeing the Sasajimas interact.

8) Ship

Okay, well, its obvious where I fall here. I don’t remember the last time I’ve watched such a generic sport series with a one on one protag vs rival. I’m not above shipping the “obvious/main” ship, as SasuNaru and Edgewright are some of my ships. However I didn’t ship Akira/Hikaru and I don’t ship KageHina but I do ship something like Manjoume/Judai and if asked MakoHaru vs RinHaru, I’d pick the latter, so it might just be a matter of tastes and I won’t fall immediately into every “rival” ship.

So why would I ship Mikuriya/Koshiyama? Because I love it when the Cool Guy falls for the Nerd and EXTRA POINTS if the Cool Guy is also secretly a nerd too. When I mean secretly a nerd, I don’t mean Mikuriya being on quiz bowl but that he might be a closet Otaku. (ImaSaka is everything about this trope.)

Anyway, they are the main two rivals in the series, so of course they acknowledge each other. Koshiyama took it so dramatically but in the past, nobody cared about his presence, let alone think that he’s a Threat. Mikuriya is a Hot Shot and thinks he’s better than everyone but this newb with potential beat him one time (unofficially) so he’s automatically curious.

Even though it is Hot Blooded Competition, Mikuriya always seems to encourage and cheer Koshiyama on (in his own rival-y way of course) whenever he feels down about not being strong enough to compete with him. (When they were lining up for the Third round at Asagaoka) Even when Koshiyama lost, after Mikuriya had a huge handicap, Mikuriya tells him he’ll take him on anytime. The fact that he wants to do Quiz Bowl with (against) him, is practically Sports Anime confession. “I won’t wait for you, Git Gud” “Okay I will Git Gud so we can fight again” *Fist Bump* What are you guys doing.

It might just be the art style but there is a copious amount of blushing happening every time the two interact. Also that height difference!! Mikuriya is 172 while Koshiyama is 153, I fucking love it.

Uhhhh that’s about it. I would like to gush more but there’s only a few chapters of the manga that’s been fan translated and it’s not even half of what’s actually out there. (I think the manga is complete by now?) There’s only one anime season of the series, and I doubt there’s going to be more so RIP me.

I'm also excited but also a little bit sad because I still think it will be over after s3. And i dont need s4 with new students. When will you start posting about s3 because of spoilers. Not everybody can bing watch all episodes.

Same Nonny, same!!!!

While on one hand I can't wait for s3 and believe me I have always been excited for it since it was clear that we would get a 3rd season and they have finished shooting at the end of september. Thankfulkt leaving us with a bit of spoilers thanks to some pics and inbetween with some more and then when they have started to publish at first the character teaser + promo pics and then a bit later the promo photoshooting pics...

God, when I saw Malick with Nadia and Omar, I was like: What? Please. No.😩

Then the promo poster with blood on Guzman - that was when I slightly started to panic that he is probably going to die 😭 - only to feel a bit better after the trailer and teaser - oh and the interviews of the cast. So yes, I'm utterly enthusiastic as you can see and excited to find out what happened to Polo, if we will get some needed answers and especially for all Guznadia scenes. Let them only be a few seconds long, I'm here for all of it!!! ❤

On the other hand I'm a bit sad myself.

I try not to cause I don't want to ruin s3 for me, by getting sad over a potential last season before I haven't watched s3 and the end of the this season cause so far we always had an open ending and although this time, we were told that we would get an epilogue (normally that's a way to end a story), everybody is only focusing on how they will graduate at the end, how their school time and therefore their time at Las Encinas will be over... so it would make sense to end that part of the story with an epilogue to show us what the kids are up to in their future.

The truth is: I have no idea if we will get another season or not 🤔.

But what I'm sure of is that neither the rumours of a greenlit s4 + 5 and a new cast are true.

So I was trying to remember how it was after s1, what I read about it (I have started to watch Élite far later than October) and then after it was clear that there would be a 2nd season etc.

And this brings me to, that except when we were told that there would be 3rd season on that press conference for s2, Netlfix Spain has never been very communicative about Élite as Netflix and any of their ... mostly use to be.

For example:

It was season ones open ending that was giving us hope and lead us to belive that they would hopefully going to continue the story.

At the end it took them weeks (or more) after they have published amazing numbers of more than 20 million views for s1 and ten thousands of asks if there would be a s2, before they annoced the 2nd season.

In truth they have greenlit both s2 +3 and the cast was already having the scripts in November to be able to start the table reads at the end of November/ begining of December.

Also Georgina, Claudia and Jorge have been cast.

So was it always planed that Élite would have 3 season? Why not telling us then? Neither about the planed 3 seasons (Dark, Baby, The Rain have all announced to have only 3 seasons) or that they would shoot the 2 seasons one after another?

Why not telling us now that Élite is over?

And if that's the case. Why the amount of press work for a finished series after the bit of press work they did for s2 was enough? Élite s2 had the same amount of viewers, 20 million and a huuuge boost in popularity.

And aside from all of that. For me it was always all about the story. I have said it many times before: I don't think they can solve everything in 8 episodes.

And I would love to continue to watch their journey and interestingly being asked about a potential 4th season after they have announced the 3rd one, bkth showrunners said that they have plenty ideas to continue the story!

So, I have no idea what to think???

Sorry for my extrem long rent 😶 but I wanted to write a post about getting a s4 or not anyway.

Oh and due to the fact that I will be working in home office, I will be able to bing s3 on Friday and post about it. Of course I will tag everything as #elite s3 spoilers 😊!!!!

Okay but I have lots of questions about tagging things on ao3.

Like is the “crossposted from ffn” tag actually helpful in any way (when nearly all of my fics will be)? Is “this is my first fic in this fandom” (particularly on backdated fics) useful for people to know or is it more of a turnoff than anything else? One guide recommended posting fic lengths (<5k, 5-10k, etc) but I’ve never actually come across that in practice? I’ve seen authors make series’ for different crossovers which seems useful since you can’t neatly get to those otherwise, but is it helpful doing like “danny phantom oneshots” in addition to “superphantom crossovers” for easier navigation or is it annoying to have so many series that aren’t really series? How useful are individually tagged genres, especially if you can get the gist of the fic from the summary itself and what do you do if you can’t really decide what genre your fic is in the first place? Is there a tag for when the genre of the fic is basically the same as the source material (like “slice of life” or “case fic” but… idk with more universally applicable verbiage)? Are there conventions for tagging pervasive headcanons (like there are for tropes) and how do you decide which ones are worth tagging? Should you tag a work “gen” even if it’s already in the gen category (is it not redundant because people put ships in the gen category when they’re not supposed to)? How many tagged friendships are too many?? Are plot/backstory spoilers best warned in tags or notes or a combination (and is it helpful to say “no spoilers” on everything else)? Ditto to fic timelines (set before episode x, post-season y, or any time after book z)? What’s the proper tagging procedure for fics that are tags/codas/whatever you call them to a specific episode? Is the “major character death” warning still applicable if it doesn’t happen in the fic itself but the fic is exploring the grieving/fallout/aftermath of a major character’s death? And how specific should you get on warnings that spoil where the fic is going? Is “see end notes for more details” the new convention for giving content warnings while not spoiling the fic for those who want to just see how it plays out? How specific should you get in AU tags and honestly what do you call a fic where the rules of the universe are the same but like two characters never became friends which means that the plot plays out differently? Because that’s not necessarily an alternate universe (or is it??) but it’s not canon compliant. How do you tag/link to fanworks and sequels (I’ve only come across the option to mark the work you’re posting as a fanwork of something else)? I remember hearing that you could embed pics into a fic but I haven’t actually seen anyone add fic covers or fanart (is that because best practice is to link out to the original and not include the pic itself even if you have permission from the creator? Which is 100% understandable. But from an archival perspective, it would be nice to have connected works together on stable urls so is there another reason don’t people at least do that with fic covers/banners/promos they’ve made themselves?)? Is there a way to connect your work to someone else’s if they’re separate but written off of the same prompts (that weren’t officially posted to ao3, because that’s a thing too, right?)? And should permission statements (don’t post this fic anywhere else, podfic welcome, ask about adopting, etc) be individual tags on every fic or notes at the bottom or referenced in a tag that points to a blanket statement on your profile or what? And alskhdflksdh this isn’t even getting into the intricacies of what to do with non-fic things like meta posts (especially involving multiple people) or plot bunnies that came out of fic meme ask games but aren’t yet polished fic, or all of the other stuff people wanted to back up from their tumblr account.

Ao3 just has so many options and everything is so open ended and I have a lot of fics to crosspost so I need some structured consistency before I really get into itlike. . I’ve read through some very helpful fic tagging guides and tips and official ao3 tag wrangler faqs but I have a lot of questions that I haven’t really seen discussed or don’t really have a “right” or “wrong” answer so I’d like to take some time to ask the audience haha.

I just. overthink everything and have a lot of questions, okay?? ao3 is very overwhelming. Even though I’ve been doing this for 150+ fics.

can i just say i miss being a blonde hopefully i go back to it this week

for the past two weeks, one of my best friends came over and it was a little bit stressful but absolutely amazing and every second was worth it. i haven’t been writing at all, hence why i’m in a huge hurry to write the next chapter of ghost, but still. freakin. worth it. plus, i got several ideas for new fics so i’m getting through ghost so i can work on them. they’re all hella bomb and more in my field than ghost.

my thoughts on the last two episodes: HOLY MOLY!! we’re getting the bellarke content, murphy has finally chosen the right side, abby died (not gonna lie, didn’t really care much, but i was sad for the other characters) and a whole load of other stuff happened. i liked it. i really like this season, if you haven’t noticed.

my thoughts on the finale: HOLY MOLY!! i’m beyond excited. i stayed away from any promos and that since i consider them to be spoilers, so i have no idea what’s going to happen. are we going to get a bellarke scene? probably, but also probably not a romantic one. i have a weird feeling that echo might die or something, since we finally got her backstory, and it doesn’t really seem like she agrees with the current theme of the season as in ‘do better’. i’m still waiting for the explanation of richard harmon’s ‘i’m sorry’ when asked what he’d like to say the fans about this season... he better be talking about the whole murphy siding with josephine thing. i don’t want anything to happen to him.

CtM CS 2018--A Few Random Thoughts

I’ll post more on Thursday, but for now here are just a few impressions (SPOILERS for the CS if you haven’t seen it yet):

--So the green car from the promo pic belongs to Miss Higgins. So far, I like her. She and Shelagh seem to have their differences in regard to running the surgery but I think (hope) they will figure out how to work together.

--LOVE all the Shulienne

--Like the new Turner car (although I will miss the MG)

--I had been wondering if the Turners would adopt May but now it looks like they’re just fostering her for a while. I wonder if that will change and they will end up adopting her permanently. Love how well she gets along with Angela.

--Context works wonders. The clip that was released about the Holliers’ surprise birth made me wonder about the show’s focusing on Trixie’s vanity, but the actual episode was more balanced. Sure, she loves her fashionable clothes, but she knows that people (and patients) are the priority. Love having her back, as well!

--I like Sister Hilda (but then, I’ve been a fan of Fenella Woolgar’s since I saw her in a West End play a few years ago). Looking forward to seeing how she fits into the show. We didn’t see as much of Sister Frances, but she looks promising as well.

--LOVED Sister Mother Mildred, and she’s apparently going to be a recurring character, which is cool.

--Loved all the Turnadette moments, even though there weren’t a lot of them. I especially liked the scene where they talked about fostering May. Expect to see an elaboration of this in a future Tuesday post!

--Best CS since 2015.

--In fandom context, it’s great to see the CtM tag so active again! Yay!

I do not tag spoilers for ANY seasons!!

Everything on this blog is written from my personal opinion, taste, interpretation of the show, etc.

Do not come at me angry just because you don't agree with my opinions about the show or specific racers/teams!

I'm sorry if our views of contestants or aspects of the show don't align, but I'm not attempting to start debates about any of that. I just want to share clips, gifs, & pics from the show and discuss how I feel about the show and specific parts of it in detail.

Things I write about contestants may come across as a bit extra, because I personally really enjoy using exaggeration and hyperbole! Please remember these people, while on the show, are technically characters, due to story building done via editing!

When it comes to how I feel about specific racers/teams, please be aware that I base almost all my opinions of them on how they come across on the show. I try to do research to some degree on a lot of the contestants, but there's only so much care I can give about a reality TV personality's personal life and views. (Especially people who I don't enjoy on the race, or people who don't have a big online presence.)

If someone I enjoy a lot on the show is an asshole in real life, that doesn't mean my praise for them as a racer should be taken as praise for them overall. In the same vein, if I'm harsh about someone I don't like on the show, that doesn't automatically mean I think they're an awful person all around. On top of that, this show is well over 20 years old at this point. People change and I know that it's not very likely for someone to be the same person now as they were on the show.

Also, I (obviously) adore Phil to death and have a huge crush on him, but any jokes I make about him are just that: jokes. Please don't take anything I say about him (or the show/contestants in general) too seriously! Again, this blog is just for fun!

All that being said, feel free to send asks if you like! I do really enjoy learning things about the show or racers I may not already know from my own (limited) research! :)

#TAR Talk - General posts that aren't specific to any single aspect of the show.

#TAR.txt - More specific posts that may pertain to a certain aspect of a single season, team, etc. These posts may or may not include pictures/reaction images that go along with the post itself. Every #Leg Discussion will be under this tag as well.

#TAR Pics - Screenshots taken directly from the show itself. These are further categorized under #Reactions (for reaction-type images), #Lolz (for humor posts), and #Views (for great views/cinematics).

#TAR Gifs - Same as above but with gifs.

#TAR Clips - Same as above but with clips, with the addition of #Compilation posts.

#TAR Memes - Shitposts about the show that either I make myself or I source from other places. (I will always try to link the source in the post itself if I can!)

#Phil Posting - All Phil specific content. These can be general posts about him or may also fall under #Reactions or #Lolz categories. They will also be further categorized under #Phil Pics, #Phil Gifs, and #Phil Clips as necessary.

#Not from TAR - Any posts with media sourced from outside the show itself. (This doesn't include photos I post myself such as pics of the box sets or similar type posts, nor does it include promos/ads via CBS itself.)

#Leg Discussion - In-depth episode discussion posts. (These will always have a default title with the actual discussion being under a Keep Reading cut.)

#Challenges - Leg challenge specific posts. These are further categorized under #Route Info, #Roadblocks, and #Detours.

Leg Discussion Guide:

All my Leg Discussion posts are subject to future edits and additions! Mostly because I likely won't think of everything I want to say all at one time of writing, especially with how much I re-watch the show. I also plan to link to posts of mine about specific parts of a leg/episode in discussion posts, mostly for fun but also for extra context. :)

All factual info in my leg discussions is taken from my own notes on the show I take while re-watching the DVDs and from information on the episodes found online (usually through Wikipedia, interviews, articles, or similar sources.)

Info in discussion posts such as Route Marker/Clue Details that are in quotes are taken directly from the show. (I find these via what is quoted in closed captions or by pausing at the right times to read the physical clue myself.) I try my best to quote the clues verbatim but it can be difficult due to how contestants may paraphrase a clue or what is cut out in editing. If I can't get much exact clue info, the details will not be in quotes!

Reminder!! All Rankings and opinions on aspects of the episodes/legs and on contestants come from my personal views!

Leg, Location, and Challenge Rankings are on a scale of 1 to 10, with the basic idea of 1 being Easy and 10 being Hard. (For example, the Location of London, England would likely have a low rating, as most people there speak English and navigation shouldn't be difficult.)

I take more than overall difficulty into consideration when making my Leg Rankings, and if you'd like to know more specifics feel free to ask! (I keep all ratings tracked online via tables.)

Racer/Team Rankings:

These types of posts will likely come at the end of a season re-watch, as it takes a whole season (at least) to be able to fully form my opinions on contestants.

Racer and Team Rankings are more based on things such as tolerance to other cultures, game savviness, general likeability, and similar critiques.

I think that covers the majority of stuff! If you have any questions feel free to drop an ask! <3

I'm going through your 11x10 tag with chrono (cause I was still binge watching the show at the time and today I got curious about the fandom's reaction to Casifer) and the pre episode specs are just hilarious. I almost wish we had a Dark Christmas AU instead of what we got. "Can Cas stop the Mint?" OMG.

Was that the one where Sam *was* the Funko Pop initially?

You know if Dabb likes Christmas so much he is the showrunner now, there’s nothing *stopping* him from bringing back Dark Christmas AU as a plot thing.

I can’t actually remember what my reaction to Casifer was. @neven-ebrez was so gloomy about it since like 11x01 I mostly was just like “yep there it is”… I think there were also spoilers floating around.

Possibly the 11x11 promo pics were out before Casifer was officially a thing and they were the ones where Dean n “Cas” were in the Bunker and Cas was chilling in just his shirt sleeves.

You should go to the pre-11x11 stuff on my blog… I bet there’s a lot of “oh god maybe it is just Cas and not Lucifer” bargaining because we’ll all desperately ignore how out of character it is for Cas to strip down to enjoy him stripped down in front of Dean… :P (But yeah, again, it was so OOC for Cas we all sort of *knew* deep down I think >.>)

#NEIGHBOURS, #NEIGHBOURSEDIT AND #NEIGHBOURSCASTEDIT

in the past, these tags have applied to all posts. however, it is something that I am going to alter going into 2018.

#neighbours will not be used anymore unless it applies to original content - whether that be posts, gifs, icons, headers etc.

the same goes with #neighboursedit and #neighbourscastedit - both of these tags will only be used on the gifs that I create myself. anything relating to the cast will be tagged as #neighbours cast and be sorted into specific categories. and where gifs themselves are concerned, they will merely be tagged with #neighbours and whatever the year the scene itself was from.

NEIGHBOURS GIF REQUESTS

previously, I have asked occasionally if people have any gif requests for the current episode or for the week however, since I am going back to uni the week the neighbours 2018 season starts, I've realised I need to make some changes.

these changes will comprise of asking specifically after each episode if anyone has any gif requests for the current episode.

”does anyone have any gif request for episode ---- that aired on...”

that way it will make requests for the episode if anyone has any a lot easier for both the people requesting the gifs and for me, in the event that I am not able to get to the request immediately and I know exactly which episode the request is referring to.

sending anonymous requests will still be accepted. however; I will ask if when requesting you could be specific so I know exactly what it is that you are after.

I will also not be accepting requests for gifs with song lyrics unless the exact lyrics itself are stated in the message. this is due to not always knowing exactly what someone is after, not being able to find or being familiar with the song or struggling with how to apply the song to the gifset.

also I just want to add that the more specific the request, the faster I will be able to complete and upload it.

the tags I will be using for 2018 are...

#neighbours 2018 - general 2018 tag for all gifs

#2018 spoilers - make sure you have this one blacklisted and filtered through tumblr in order to avoid. I am going to be using this tag for most gifs if I upload them right after the episode so that people in other states and countries don’t have to see spoilers for the current episode.

#2018 teasers - specifically refer to the promos that the show has released. this tag will be used for all videos and gifs made from those promos. it will also probably be tagged with #2018 spoilers but this one can ensure that people can avoid anything relating to the teasers if they haven’t seen them or are avoiding them.

#2018 promo photos - i’ll still be using the #neighbours promotional pictures tag for all promo pics but this one will specifically relate to those released for the 2018 season.

SELF REBLOG

I have avoided doing this in the past however, next year as I am entering my third year of law school, I may not have the time to make new gifs and in the event that the queue runs out, I’ll simply reblog the current and old gifs.

this will be tagged as #self reblog so if you don’t want to see them, just blacklist or filter that tag through tumblr.

Specifically relating to the characters and cast, sometimes multiple people appear in a scene and rather tag each character and cast member individually, these tags will be tagged as a general tag. however; if there is a main character in that scene, they will be tagged.

neighcast misc is also something that will refer to content relating to the neighbours cast that do not fit into the current categories. like, interviews, behind the scenes, photoshoots, ambassadors etc.
