Hi! I’m the new mod!
Hi all! I'm Ragna, aka @mousedetective, the new mod of WIP Big Bang. I've been a co-mod for the last few years, helping Reeby answer emails and doing art for the unclaimed fics at the end of the art claims. I've been a participant of WIP Big Bang before that, and I've been doing fandom events for many years, including Crossover Big Bang, Bleach Big Bang, and currently Molly Hooper Appreciation Week and Sherlolly Secret Santa for the Sherlock fandom on Tumblr. I've been writing fic since 1998 and making graphics since 2002, so I'm definitely a fandom old with a ton of experience under my belt. Hopefully, the transition between Reeby being the main mod and me taking over will run smoothly.
I am looking for help, though! As not everyone knows, we're on multiple platforms (Tumblr, Livejournal, Dreamwidth and Twitter) and I am not as active on all of these platforms as I used to be. I would love to have a mod dedicated solely to the Twitter account, updating when we have important dates and posting reminders. I would also love to bring back the Whine Bar and the Word Wars, if anyone would like to run those, or even something similar like a Flashfic challenge where you write a scene for your fic in an alloted amout of time. Anything to help motivate writers throughout the challenge (and artists too...you'd be more than welcome to do Flashart!). I have all the passwords now and will add mods to the various accounts if there's interest...that was why I waited so long to post.
I'm aiming to start sign-ups between March 15th and April 1st, so at least a little less than a month from now. Once I have co-mods in place, we'll come up with a more definite schedule but posting will still commence throughout the month of September (though I may make a few changes for posting rules in the future, regarding when you can start posting your completed works). So I hope to see you all around this round and many more!

why did i choose this username: I liked ‘joneshead’ because it was simple but didn’t oversimplify Jughead’s character. I personally dislike choosing particular words for URLs, especially to describe someone as dynamic as he is, and feel like trying to define in him in one way or another in the middle of his story would result in my unintentionally pigeon-holing my interpretation of him. He’s more than one thing, and he can’t be confined to a small box to describe him anyways. I wanted to kind of keep from labeling him, or from fixing an identity to him. I guess this has let me define him in the writing alone, for him to define himself in my writing, which is what I wanted when I first started writing him. For me, ‘joneshead’ doesn’t limit me when I think about what his character is, and it’s not tied to any of his plots, timelines, or developments that lie outside the version of him I’ve created.

Have gotten to the point in writing this fic where my outline says "and then they do (a) OR (b)" and writing has come to a complete standstill bc I can't decide which one to do!! This is the last thing until the end!! They need to have a single fucking conversation and then I'm done with this fic!! Why is this so hard????

Final NaPoWriMo word count is 3,229! Which is pretty freaking awesome, I think :) So much poetry written this month, esp bc that count doesn’t include the fan poems I wrote for my month’s personal project, just the poems for the daily prompts.

2019 End of Year Writing Meme
Adapted from here. This only includes things posted on AO3, since I have a ton of finished and unfinished stuff I haven’t posted there yet and it’s easier to quantify.
Total number of completed stories: 99
Total word count: 56,606
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
A lot less. The number of completed stories doesn’t show that, but a lot of that was posting backlog. And the word count is down about 20k from the year before. I went into 2019 intending to write more by not overwhelming myself with exchange and fest fics and that... really didn’t work. Until I gave that up midyear, I hardly wrote anything new.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I somehow ended up writing a lot of Star Wars incest fic?? Like I’d written one Han/Ben fic before so it wasn’t totally weird, but in 2019 I wrote three Luke/Ben fics, another Han/Ben, and a Kylo/Darth Vader (and uh Kylo/Darth Vader’s helmet...). I’m not even into any of those ships. Heck, I’m barely into Star Wars in general anymore lol
What's your own favourite story of the year? Not necessarily the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I think I’ll go with Yours, Mine, Ours (original, M/M). It’s just so fluffy and cute and I really enjoyed writing it.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I did some poetry! like a breath (Person of Interest, Harold/multi), which is a series of haikus, and an odd group of people (A Knight’s Tale, gen), which is a series of limmericks. I've written plenty of poetry, even fandom poetry, but mostly freeverse, so working within some forms I’m not all that familiar with was interesting. I really do love how they turned out though. I feel like I had to get into the characters’ heads a lot more than usual for these too.
From my past year of writing, what was....
My best story of this year:
I think probably It Always Ends in Blood (Harry Potter, gen). Stylistically and content wise, it’s not really what I usually write, but I think it came out really really well. I’m very proud of it tbh lol
My most popular story of this year:
By hits and kudos, Not Such a Virgin (Teen Wolf, Sterek). Which is kind of annoying bc I’ve been mostly out of Teen Wolf for so long and yet ever time I write for it, it shoots to the top of my stats. But on the other hand, this was a WIP that’s been sitting in my folder for years, so I’m glad I finished it and it was appreciated!
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
the memory and the mirror (original, F/F). This is one of those rare cases that the fic came out pretty much exactly as I’d imagined when I started. I really like the concept I came up with and I think it’s a really good fic. Unfortunately original fic on AO3 really only does well if it’s kinky smut so my angsty little G rated fic didn’t get much attention.
Most fun story to write:
Maybe bitter as oranges (Buzzfeed Unsolved, Shyan). I love me some demon!Shane and bringing fan theories stuff into the “canon” so it was really fun to do.
Most difficult story to write:
A Real Life Fairy Tale (Buzzfeed Unsolved, Shyan). Idk why, but I struggled with this a lot. I rarely start a fic over or do much in the way of rewrite, but this one required both.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Uh, idk. I’ll go with Scientific Marvel (Star Trek: DS9, Garashir). It’s go mpreg and interspecies relationships and ~logical marriage proposals~ so like what more is there to want lol

Write 100k words. Finish an original piece of writing for publishing. Finish a posted WIP. Post through my google drive fic backlog.

Hi, I’m Reeby! Also known as Voldie here sometimes. I’m a queer, agender (she/her or whatever) twentysomething from Texas. I read too much fic, watch too much tv and movies, and listen to too many podcasts.
