In such crucial times, we need art to awaken the truths around our society and ourselves. An artist must be an eye-opener that shows our nation's actual state and the world.
My music is about real-life. I've always admired a quote by Nina Simone. She was an American singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and civil rights activist who was very wise.
"How can you be an artist and not reflect the times."
As a songwriter, I create for those who can't create or those who don't have the means to create. Some may say that a songwriter is a voice for the voiceless.
This song is produced and arranged by Mark Goble. When I heard the track, it inspired me to talk about the current state of the world dealing with George Floyd, police brutality, the riots, and being on lockdown because of the virus and its effects.
Before George Floyd, most people didn't pay enough attention to police brutality if it didn't directly affect them. Perhaps the coronavirus slowed everyone down enough to see what was happening around us. With everyone standing so still, it gave us all a chance to take in the chaos and speak out about the reality of violence.
There's power in song, and as a black male, I wanted to express my concern and pain through my eyes. Experience teaches us how to be genuinely empathetic to people's pain and help them resolve it.

How do you think this release represents your current direction..
It helps define my purpose and gives me direction to continue to be true to myself. This video was directed by @fulvisual me and Paul have been working together for some years and we have great chemistry as far as him helping me bring my words to a visual light. He has a really good eye and he thinks outside the box.
What most inspires you?
Life inspires me, and I create because it's a passion, and I always want to bring the truth to light. My purpose is to share my gift in hopes that my words will inspire someone to change the world around them. Perhaps my songs will educate a listener who didn't consider this perspective.

What was one notable event that helped shape your last decade?
Changing my life, letting some voices go, weed, drinking a lot of things like that helped me get back to focus and get back in line with my purpose.
