Tumblr media
Swimming pool construction in Sydney is a complex process that involves many steps and considerations. The first step is to design the pool, taking into account the client's preferences, the space available, and any local regulations or restrictions. The design will also determine the size, shape, and depth of the pool, as well as any additional features, such as waterfalls, slides, or diving boards.
Once the design is finalized, the construction process can begin. The first step is to excavate the area where the pool will be located, which involves digging a hole that is larger than the pool itself. The hole is then lined with a layer of gravel and a layer of sand to provide a stable base for the pool.
Next, the pool shell is installed, which can be made of various materials, including concrete, fibreglass, or vinyl. Once the shell is in place, the plumbing and electrical systems are installed, including the filtration system, pumps, and heaters. After the plumbing and electrical systems are in place, the pool is then finished with tiles, coping, and any additional features, such as decking or landscaping. Then the pool builders in Sydney fill the pool with water and test all of the systems to ensure they are working properly.

Saturday 27th April 2024
We awoke early this morning, now trained to go game watching at silly o'clock. I thought the air conditioning must be on, but it was the roar of the Falls that can constantly be heard from our room. The immense spray can be seen rising from the gorge hewn by the water.
The sun beat down on us yet again. 32° on the rich, the poor, the just and the unjust. Our personal guide showed up on queue, bundled us into the back of his minibus and swiftly drove us to the Falls some 1km from the hotel. The Chinese were ahead of us already doing the selfies. Imagine if you will the holiday slide show happening soon in the home of the Pings, downtown Shanghai. What picture is this asks daddy Ping? That's Victoria Falls says Shing. Where Falls says daddy Ping, all I see is your ugly face. You got any other picture of Falls? Shing falls silent for a moment, then brightens and says yes, I took picture of Falls me and Ting. But Victoria Falls is World Heritage Site, is 107m high, 1737m wide and has 1100m3/sec, 300,000 gallons per sec. flowing over it why only picture of ugly face. Was same with Taj Mahal, London Bridge, Sydney Bridge. Last time I pay for holiday! (Names changed to protect the innocent)
This thing is immense and awe inspiring and the most amazing waterfall we have ever seen. It's construction is of several falls: Devil's Cataract used in previous days as an animal sacrifice area in times of hardship, the Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and Armchair Falls. In terms of scale it is 10th widest and 13th by volume but figures combined make it to the top three waterfalls in the world. The spray from the crashing water hitting the bedrocks far below rose high into the air forming fine rain soaking us through despite wearing cagoules. Whole areas were hidden intermittently due to the low cloud formed. The viewing walkways have been planted with rainforest vegetation and palm trees because after all, it is warm and it rains continuously and ideal conditions for such a beautiful tropical creation.
The first European to find the Falls was of course David Livingstone in 1855. The Chobe River we were by, is one of several feeds to the Zambezi which tips over the Zambian side of the Falls allowing the Zimbabwe peoples to get a good look at it. Livingstone, whose statue we passed, spent his life in Zambia, dying in Chitambo in 1873. He apparently said his heart lay with Zambia, so whether he meant this literally or not, we shall never know for sure, they cut his heart out and buried it there and posted the rest of him back to Westminster Abbey. The railway bridge which also forms the border with Zambia, passes close to the Falls and is an integral part of the Cape Town to Cairo railway a dream of Cecil Rhodes. A jaw dropping engineering project from the late 19 century. Well it would be but it ran out of steam, navies and engineers by the time it reached Tanzania due to sickness and being eaten by lions and it didn't get any further. The 156m bridge was designed by the same guys who built Sydney Harbour bridge; prefabricated in Cleveland, England and shipped out in kit form; an amazing achievement in itself. It was completed in just 14 months in 1905.
Now the Victoria Falls Hotel is quite a closed community with its internal staff coupled closely with the outdoor security staff that have the appearance of a small army! They parade around the grounds keeping non-guests, locals, undesirables and baboons firmly under control and away from the bricks and mortar. They are not that keen on guests either and are likely to ask what your room number is. After recuperating from our dousing at the Falls this morning, we spent an hour or so in the sun by the pool and then felt strong enough to escape to promenade the high street. From the minibus it all looked very jolly; full of curiosity shops, the odd eating place and bar. So off we went. Now I'm sure that they are all very nice people in their own way, but I began to understand how an impala felt just popping out to where the lions live. To start with there were stares similar to those I imagine a black person might get in a white enclave. Then the hard sell starts; carvings, little wooden bowls, statuettes and bright African things. All highly valued in their own way but no I don't want one is not the right answer. You are accompanied along the street having the goods yet again thrust in front of you in case you hadn't previously realised just how much you needed one of these. Then there's the person who is convinced you want a supermarket, maybe for water and he's your man to help you find one. Then there's the honest beggars. A call will be heard from inside a shop you may be passing. It's like the entire Zimbabwe economy must depend on what's in your pocket. We felt desperately for these people but we really don't know what we could do for them. We've done as much as we can simply by coming, staying in a hotel which employs local people. I took a photo of a discarded steam engine and we legged it back to the security of the hotel just mentioned our room number to the host of guards patrolling outside once or twice.
Jungle Junction not being for us tonight we decided to eat on the terrace restaurant. The official currency in Zimbabwe is the US dollar although they have in the last couple of weeks announced for the first time ever their own currency although from what I've heard it's plummeting faster than a bucket down a well. Items purchased and meals are unusually expensive here in the hotel probably due to the link with the dollar. Meal last night was not too far short of $100!
ps Zimbabwe flags are all flying half mast because 3 brigadiers were killed in a motor accident.
pps Tomorrow we will be boarding the Rovos Rail for the next four nights to Pretoria. WiFi might be scarce.

KTOWL coda snippet
that ask from Ragnarok got me thinking about Dirk and Jake post-KTOWL. I have had this sitting in my docs for months now, it's 1700 words of Dirk Strider dealing with Jake's bullshit.
ENORMOUS spoilers for the end of KTOWL obviously, do not click through if you haven't finished KTOWL. Rated M for Dirk doing murder and Jake being a horny weirdo as usual.
It was amazing the things you got used to.
Tonight, Dirk was busy hiding a body. It was a very precise, fine art that a lot of people didn't fully appreciate, in his opinion. There were plenty of ways to get rid of a body if you were a careless fuck who didn't care about later fallout. There were fewer ways to get rid of a body in such a way that no one would ever know, would ever find out.
There were even fewer ways to get rid of a body in such a way that if it were to be found, it would be a net boon for your outfit. That was the one Dirk respected, and the one he was working on right now.
This wasn't an easy job for one person. He had a chain hook connected to one of the anchor points at his lower back, holding the other end of the chain wrapped around his wrist. Suspended over a block of cement with on his toes braced on dry land, Dirk dragged a trowel across the surface of the enormous block he'd poured, flattening and smoothing the top.
Come Monday morning, the construction crew would show up and drag the block into place, where it would be used in the foundation of the home of one of Abraxas' rivals, a chemist start-up that had vanished a few too many collared runners.
Now, maybe that would be the end of it. But maybe in a few months the cement block would start to warp and crack under the weight of its imperfections. Maybe someone would bust it open and find a body in there, obviously murdered. Maybe a few people would go to jail.
This was Dirk's level of work. He always thought it was important to take pride in your job, or you'd be miserable.
And for once Dirk… wasn't miserable.
When the cement looked good enough, Dirk tossed the trowel safely out of the way and hauled himself up along the chains, swinging back to his feet to stand next to the cement block. Unhooking himself, he hopped down from the wooden slats, going through the motions of covering his tracks.
Even if he didn't agree with the hit, he could at least pull it off right. And, oh, did he not agree with this hit.
=
A week before, Dirk was getting back home— back to Abraxas Tower after visiting the lakehouse in Oshawa, and to his quiet dismay, Jake was not in his quarters. He was not in the little R&D lab that he kept for himself, away from the rest of the facility. He wasn't waiting in Dirk's office-cum-quarters holding a thorned rose in his teeth. Nope.
Dirk made the trip up to Jake's ostentatious proto-Tron office in the sky and found him fucking pacing. For some fucking reason, he had a pool cue in his hands; likely he'd been interrupted while showboating down on a lower level of the tower.
The cue spun over the back of Jake's hand, into his palm, and out again with a whirling rapidity, swift and agile. "Oh, he's here. I will call you back, you best have a dossier ready for me by then." He slammed the phone down on the cradle. "There you are, hello darling, how's your brother? How's my grouchy retainer? What was for dinner?"
Usually, Jake was genuinely asking, and Dirk was not ready to grapple with the way Jake was shoving himself merrily into Dirk's weird lop-sided familial unit. Especially given the Rose Situation. Sighing, Dirk asked, "What happened?"
"The Sydney Umbra's facelift is fucking cancelled!" Jake said, giving up the facade of pleasantries. "You know how hard Gran and I worked to make the upgrade look spic and span and noble as all get-out, well some dewdropper from Down Under put in a formal complaint and now the entire things off!" He swung the cue and it made a beautiful sound as it parted the air, a woody whip sound.
Dirk tucked his hands into his pockets and approached, keeping a fair breadth of space between them, feeling the agitation radiating out of Jake. "This can't be the first time that's happened. Your shit is bright as hell, it's a night hazard."
Jake rolled his eyes. "Yes, well, usually we have more of a stranglehold on the municipality before we break ground, but the old Cherubs apparently didn't put in that kind of extra work, fuck knows why." He was pacing more, nearly scowling. "So now we have to do the legwork on the back-end, which seems very sloppy to me." He pointed at Dirk with his cue. "So I need you to hop a skip over there and find the fellow who put in the complaint, and remove them."
"Remove," Dirk echoed.
"Dealer's choice on the method, so long as they're dead."
That was what Dirk was afraid of. "Jake, I'm not going to kill someone because they put in a complaint on your gaudy fucking buildings."
"He's not just a local, he's a competitor. He's fucking with me, and I'm not going to stand for it. We're Abraxas, and no fucking small-time crook is going to cast a shadow on the fucking sun."
Oh, for god's sake. To be honest, for a while Dirk had assumed all the grandstanding bullshit about Abraxas was just artifice, the way to push the brand. This, obviously, was pretty fucking foolish in hindsight. People didn't shoot neon shit into their arm on account of costume.
"Jake."
"Don't Jake me," he said. "If one of these jackboot thugs gets away with dimming our light, they're all gonna try it, and then it'll be a lot more heads to roll. Like I said, you don't leave these things to later, you take care of them now."
"You are not asking me to put someone in the ground over municipal ordinance," Dirk said.
"I'm not asking," Jake said, and stopped in his track, fixing Dirk with a mean green stare.
God. Dammit.
This led Dirk to here, encasing a dead man in concrete and walking out of the construction site in the middle of the fucking night. Gravel crunched under his boots as he let out a tired sigh. This entire job was bullshit, but at least he'd done it right. If he didn't have that, he didn't have anything.
He'd left his bike tucked under the awning of a delivery bay a few blocks away for safety's sake; close enough to sprint to if he needed but far enough away to avoid being a red flag. It'd be bad if someone spotted it and took note.
As Dirk got close, someone had spotted it. Someone was leaning on it casually, as if he owned the fucking thing.
Which, well.
"Where the hell is your entourage," Dirk asked as he approached.
"Swaggering up to me right now with a wrecking ball swing to his hips," Jake said, grinning.
"I just killed one man, I'm ready to make it two," Dirk told him. "How the fuck are you even in Australia?"
His smile didn't even flicker. "Gran stopped by so it seemed a good time to step out for a proverbial smoke. You didn't miss me at all, clementine?"
"No," Dirk said, shaking out his keys. He unlatched the helmet from the bike and shoved it into Jake's hands. "Put that on."
With a pout, Jake pulled the motorcycle helmet on and clasped it under his chin. "You know, you don't have to play the aloof feline every moment of every day. Doesn't it get tiring?"
"I'm not playing. This was a task to fulfill your own lunatic obligation to offense. All of my ire is genuine."
Tutting softly, Jake shook his head. "To think you came so highly recommended." His gaze lowered to Dirk's gloved hands, then back to his face with a guileless lift of his eyebrows. "What, no head?"
Dirk blinked. "Excuse me?"
"Well I thought you'd bring me the fellow's head as a trophy is all," Jake said, his pout becoming more pronounced. "Did I forget to mention that bit?"
His teeth pressed together as something angry and sparking static paced in Dirk's gut. "I'm not bringing you skulls."
"Hm. I admit I haven't read the code of the executor in a while, but I was fairly certain one of the tentpoles of the whole apparatus was my will would be done." His arms crossed, fingers tapping against his elbow. "It's somewhat vexing, if I'm honest."
Dirk… did not know why Jake was testing him. He didn't know the point of it. It was testing him, though, poking and nudging him, pushing him flush against the wall built from Dirk's signed oath, corning him to see what he'd do. Because Dirk wasn't going to add to Jake's skull collection. And yet doing this, this game between them, the constant bickering and teetering control, seemed to be Jake's favorite pastime lately.
He had no idea what Jake got out of it.
Swallowing, Dirk said, "You don't want me to do it. That's your personal touch. Someone else bringing you a skull you didn't pop off some poor fucker's head ruins the whole thing. I'm not falling for it."
Jake's eyes lazily held Dirk's, his cupid's bow lips still drawn into a smile. "Such insubordination. If I tattled tale to the High Table, Darkleer himself would take you out."
It felt like a volley into Dirk's court, and he swung back immediately: "If anyone but you tried to take me out, you'd kill them for the audacity." Reaching out, he flipped the face shield of the helmet down. "Get on the fuckin' bike, Jake."
Saddling up, Dirk turned the engine over, letting it rumble underneath him for a moment. Jake climbed on behind and wrapped his arms around Dirk's body, snuggling as close as he could with that helmet in his way.
One warm hand cupped Dirk pretty brazenly between his thighs.
Dirk only sighed and throttled them away. If he tried to tell Jake no for everything, Jake would start to get pushy. Compromise was important.

Building The Teams: Five Best Practices in Technology Recruitment
In the rapidly evolving landscape of technology, where innovation is the currency of success, building robust teams is paramount. But the process of recruitment isn't merely about filling vacancies; it's about assembling a cohesive group of individuals who can collaborate, innovate, and drive the organisation forward.
To achieve this goal, organisations must adopt strategic best practices that go beyond traditional hiring approaches. Here, we delve into five essential strategies for effective technology recruitment services.
Define Clear Role Requirements
The foundation of any successful recruitment effort lies in defining clear role requirements. This involves collaborating closely with hiring managers and team members to outline the responsibilities, required skills, and qualifications for the role.
While technical proficiency is crucial, equal emphasis should be placed on soft skills such as communication, adaptability, and problem-solving. By establishing a comprehensive role profile, organisations can attract candidates who not only possess the necessary technical competencies but also align with the company culture and values.
Leverage Multiple Sourcing Channels
To access a diverse pool of talent, organisations must cast a wide net by leveraging multiple sourcing channels. Beyond traditional job boards, explore niche platforms, industry-specific events, and professional networks such as LinkedIn. Actively engage with tech communities through forums, meet-ups, and participation in open-source projects.
By fostering relationships within these technology recruitment communities, organisations can tap into passive candidates who may not be actively seeking employment but possess valuable skills and experiences. Building a robust sourcing strategy ensures a continuous pipeline of qualified candidates and reduces dependence on reactive hiring practices.
Tumblr media
Streamline the Screening Process
Efficient screening is essential to identify top candidates while minimising time-to-hire. Organisations should implement a structured screening process that includes resume screening, technical assessments, and behavioural interviews. Embrace automation tools to streamline initial screenings and filter candidates based on predefined criteria.
However, it's crucial to maintain a balance between automation and human touch to ensure a personalised candidate experience. Additionally, conduct thorough interviews to assess executive recruitment Sydney technical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and cultural fit within the organisation. By optimising the screening process, organisations can expedite hiring decisions without compromising on candidate quality.
Promote Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords; they are imperative for building innovative and high-performing teams. Organisations must actively promote diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the recruitment process. This includes evaluating job descriptions for biased language, ensuring inclusive language and imagery in job postings, and implementing blind resume screening to mitigate unconscious biases.
Moreover, offering unconscious bias training to hiring teams helps mitigate biases during candidate evaluations. By fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, organisations can unlock the full potential of their teams, drive creativity and innovation, and better reflect the diverse perspectives of their customer base.
Emphasise Candidate Experience
A positive candidate experience is a reflection of an organisation's employer brand and can significantly impact its ability to attract top talent. Throughout the recruitment process, organisations should communicate transparently with candidates, providing timely updates and constructive feedback. Ensure that the interview process is smooth and respectful of candidates' time by minimising delays and providing clear instructions.
Personalise interactions to demonstrate genuine interest in executive recruitment Sydney candidates career aspirations and aligning them with organisational goals. By prioritising candidate experience, organisations not only enhance their reputation as an employer of choice but also cultivate a positive relationship with candidates, whether they are successful in securing a position or not.
Final Words
Effective technology recruitment requires a strategic approach that encompasses clear role definition, diverse sourcing channels, and streamlined screening processes, promotion of diversity and inclusion, and emphasis on candidate experience. By adopting these best practices, organisations can build high-performing teams capable of driving innovation and achieving sustained success in today's dynamic technology landscape.

How Much Does Building a House Cost in Sydney?
Building a home in Sydney is a significant investment and one that requires careful consideration of various factors to ensure a successful outcome. From the size and design of the home to the choice of materials and labor costs, there are many variables that can influence the overall cost.
Factors Influencing the Cost
Location
The location of your future home plays a crucial role in determining the overall cost. House build prices can vary significantly across different suburbs of Sydney, with more desirable areas commanding higher prices. Additionally, factors such as accessibility, proximity to amenities, and local regulations can also impact construction costs.
Size and Design of the Home
The size and design of the home will directly affect the construction costs. Larger homes with intricate designs and custom features will naturally cost more to build compared to smaller, simpler structures. It's essential to carefully consider your space requirements and design preferences while keeping your budget in mind.
Materials Used
The choice of materials used in construction can have a significant impact on the overall cost. High-end materials will come with a higher price tag, while more affordable options can help keep costs down. Balancing quality and cost-effectiveness is key to achieving the desired result within budget constraints.
Labor Costs
Labor costs, including wages for builders, tradespeople, and contractors, are another significant expense to consider when building a home in Sydney. Skilled labor is essential for ensuring quality craftsmanship, but it can also add to the overall cost. Obtaining multiple quotes and negotiating rates can help keep labor costs in check.
Additional Features and Amenities
Incorporating additional features and amenities into your home design can add to the overall cost. Features such as swimming pools, outdoor entertainment areas, and high-tech appliances can significantly increase expenses. Prioritizing must-have features and being selective about optional extras can help manage costs effectively.
Average Cost Breakdown
Land Acquisition
The cost of purchasing land in Sydney can vary widely depending on location and size. On average, expect to allocate a significant portion of your budget to acquiring suitable land for your new home.
Construction Costs
Construction costs typically include materials, labor, and overhead expenses associated with building the structure. Depending on the complexity of the design and the quality of materials used, construction costs can vary significantly.
Permits and Fees
Obtaining permits and paying associated fees is an essential step in the home building process. These costs can include development application fees, council fees, and contributions towards infrastructure upgrades.
Contingency Budget
It's essential to set aside a contingency budget to account for unexpected expenses that may arise during the construction process. This buffer can help mitigate the impact of unforeseen challenges and ensure that the project stays on track financially.
Ways to Minimize Costs
Research and Planning
Thorough research and careful planning are essential for minimizing costs when building a home in Sydney. Take the time to explore different options, obtain multiple quotes, and create a realistic budget based on your needs and priorities.
Choosing the Right Builder
Selecting a reputable and certified builder is crucial for ensuring a successful outcome and avoiding costly mistakes. Do your homework, check references, and ask for recommendations from trusted sources before making a decision.
Opting for Cost-Effective Materials
While quality is important, there are often more affordable alternatives to expensive building materials. Consider options that offer good value for money without compromising on durability or aesthetics.
Avoiding Unnecessary Features
Be selective about the features and amenities you choose to include in your home design. Focus on essential elements that add value and functionality, and avoid unnecessary luxuries that can drive up costs.
Comparing Different Housing Options
Building vs. Buying
Consider the pros and cons of building a new home versus buying an existing property. While building offers greater flexibility and customization options, buying may be more cost-effective in some cases.
Custom vs. Project Homes
Decide whether you want to build a custom-designed home or opt for a project home with pre-designed plans. Custom homes offer greater flexibility but can be more expensive, while project homes are often more affordable but less customizable.

Unlocking the Secrets of Concrete Pool Installation: A Step-by-Step Process
Tumblr media
When it comes to transforming your backyard into a luxurious oasis, few additions rival the timeless elegance and refreshing allure of a concrete pool. Whether you're in the heart of Sydney or its surrounding suburbs, the journey to creating your own aquatic retreat begins with understanding the intricate process of concrete pool installation. From excavation to the finishing touches, each step holds its own secrets, and in this comprehensive guide, we're unraveling them all.
Planning and Design:
The journey towards a concrete pool paradise commences with meticulous planning and innovative design. Collaborating with experienced professionals in Sydney ensures that your vision aligns seamlessly with the practicalities of your space. From the size and shape to the incorporation of features such as spas or waterfalls, this initial stage sets the blueprint for the entire project.
Excavation and Site Preparation:
With plans in hand, the excavation phase kicks off, marking the physical transformation of your backyard. Skilled technicians navigate the terrain, ensuring precision in every dig to accommodate the dimensions of your concrete oasis. Site preparation extends beyond mere excavation; it involves leveling the ground, addressing drainage concerns, and laying the foundation for structural integrity.
Formwork and Reinforcement:
As the groundwork takes shape, attention turns towards the intricate details of formwork and reinforcement. This stage involves constructing the skeleton of your pool, typically with sturdy steel rebar, meticulously arranged to withstand the test of time. The formwork acts as a mold, shaping the concrete into the desired contours and ensuring uniformity throughout the structure.
Concrete Pouring:
The hallmark of any concrete pool installation in Sydney, the pouring stage heralds the transition from concept to reality. Utilizing high-quality concrete mixes, expert craftsmen pour the material into the prepared formwork, layer by layer, meticulously compacting and leveling to eliminate air pockets and achieve a flawless finish. This phase demands precision timing and expertise to avoid inconsistencies and ensure structural integrity.
Curing and Finishing Touches:
With the concrete in place, the focus shifts towards curing—a critical process that enhances strength and durability. Patience is paramount during this phase as the pool undergoes a gradual transformation, aided by meticulous hydration and controlled environmental conditions. Once cured, the final touches elevate your pool from construction site to aquatic haven, with options ranging from luxurious tiling to customized lighting solutions.
Filling and Commissioning:
As the finishing touches are applied, anticipation mounts for the final step: filling your pool with water. This moment symbolizes the culmination of weeks of meticulous planning and skilled craftsmanship. Once filled, comprehensive testing ensures that every component operates seamlessly, guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable experience for years to come.
Unlocking the Secrets:
Throughout the journey of concrete pool installation in Sydney, one secret remains constant—the value of experienced professionals. From design conception to final commissioning, entrusting your project to reputable experts ensures a seamless process and unparalleled results. While concrete inground pool costs may vary, the investment in quality craftsmanship pays dividends in the form of lasting beauty and enjoyment.
In conclusion, the secrets of concrete pool installation in Sydney are no longer shrouded in mystery. By understanding the step-by-step process and enlisting the expertise of seasoned professionals, you can turn your backyard dreams into a stunning reality—a luxurious concrete oasis that offers endless relaxation and enjoyment for years to come.

Manly, so named because when Governor Arthur Phillip came first in 1788 he was met by indigenous men in canoes. Just before they slung a spear at his shoulder he was heard to comment on their physique and just how strong and manly they looked. A more appropriate thing to say might have been "RUN". However the history books prefer the first and so he called the place from then on, Manly. One can only speculate what he might have called the place if there had been a canoe full of fat women!
Manly sits near to the northern side of the entrance to the massive Sydney Harbour, a natural safe anchorage of some 21 square miles. Beyond the entrance is of course the open ultramarine waters of the Pacific Ocean stretching to eternity, or so it seems.
Sightseeing day ahead today now that we have exercised. Martine managed 83 lengths, cut short because the Danish pool maintenance man showed up and threw her out. We thought we would pop into the city on the 173 bus. There's always a temptation when returning to a place you've been to before and really liked, to just trudge around repeating all the same stuff; there's a kind of safety in doing that. To some degree that is what we did today after collecting our tickets for tomorrow's opera at the Opera House. Back in 1788 when the first fleet got in, the first place that was occupied was 'The Rocks'. Indigenous chaps were there before but the incomers thought they could make a few improvements. It became quite an area made up of soldiers, European settlers, sailors, convicts and some aborigines. Whilst what you can see now of the old parts is really quite charming, it would at times have been a very dangerous place to live, although also a place of opportunity. As the country began to develop, in the 1870s richer folk moved out, increasing poverty in the remaining population. Then bubonic plaque came in the 1900s and along with it wide scale demolition over the next 20 years culminating with the construction of the Bridge in the 1920s. Then moving forward to the 1970s the Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority was charged with the task of repatriating the inhabitants of the whole area for widespread demolition of what remained and reconstruction as an extension to the business centre. Then things started to change. The Rocks Residents Action Group was formed. Residents refused to move out, and their case was strengthened by the Builders Labourers Federation who placed a green ban on the area which resulted in a bitter and often violent struggle and became known as the Battle of The Rocks. The aim of the green ban was to preserve the built fabric of the place, but also to maintain the community and keep a place for working people in the city. And it worked remarkably enough because a compromise was reached and this important area, right in the city centre, represents Sydney's unique history and heritage and it has been preserved for future generations. And we are all very glad about that.
By this time, we were exhausted from all the trudging around in the heat, so we retreated back to Wynyard for the bus home, via Coles for some white chocolate Tim Tams!

Flexible In A Range of Temperatures
Concrete swimming pools can readily withstand a variety of climatic conditions; however, in-ground swimming pools are susceptible to damage from fibreglass or vinyl liners. These pools require little upkeep and may be kept in excellent condition for very little money.
They do not sustain damage from hurricanes, storms, or frigid winds. There's a reason buildings are constructed out of concrete—it's an extremely durable material. As a result, you may create long-lasting concrete pools safely wherever you go.
No Limitations on Size While Being Creatively Made
Size is one of the main concerns that people have while constructing a new swimming pool. For other materials, unique size constraints must be taken into account, and only a limited selection of conventional sizes is available.
On the other hand, no concrete pools are required, and you may create the pool in whatever size or shape you like. One benefit of building concrete pools is that you may measure the space in your backyard and the pool builders will create the pool to that size.
In addition, you may desire a swimming pool with a dive area or a diving pool. These pools need to be sufficiently deep to prevent heads from striking the bottom.
