Happy St George's Day! Putting the "Great" in "Great Britain" thanks to the wonderful legacy of the Great Western Railway, I had a great evening last night photographing GWR steam locomotive no 4079 Pendennis Castle with a set of vintage GWR coaches at the lovely Bewdley station thanks to Time Line Events, so lots to edit and post. Starting today, we have a scene from earlier in the evening when the train is seen running through the station past the railway's vintage freight wagons and waiting passengers on the sheltered island platform.

I always saw Pendennis as Scotsman's rival, not Truro because of their history. Truro was more of an upstart who went around yelling at Scotsman and harassing him in the early days while Pendennis was someone who was challenged Scotsman to be better.

Truro never paid much attention to affairs in the East. There were so many railways in those days, it was hard to keep track of them. The most he heard of them were rumours and talk about a designer called Gresley that held the GNR in his thrall.
Pendennis Castle has proven themself worthy as an exhibit to the UK as a premiere Express Engine with none to match him. However, a singular A1 begins to rise to providence, threatening to usurp the City of Truro’s and the GWR claims.
Set in the young iron AU. The story of how City of Truro and Flying Scotsman came together.
