BATURIN VIKTOR PAVLOVICH (1863 - 1938) Russian painter, theater artist. He was born on October 1, 1863 in the village of Stanovy, Zherdev volost, Novosilsky district, Tula province. His father, Pavel Petrovich Baturin, from a poor noble family, received military education. Mother - Anna Nikiforovna Nikishina (according to other sources Soboleva, born in 1843), from the age of 14 - serf in the house of the landowner Praskovya Ivanovna Baturina. As an illegitimate child, Viktor Pavlovich bore the surname of his godfather - Ivanov. Victor studied at a school for peasant children, and then was admitted to a real school in Orel. Here, for the first time, his craving for drawing was manifested, he took additional lessons in drawing with pencil and watercolor paints. His teachers Nekrasov and Savelov recommended entering the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (MUZhVZ). In 1882, Baturin left the fifth grade of a real school and in the autumn of the same year he was admitted to MUZHVZ on a competitive exam. His teachers were: P. Village Sorokin and S. I. Ivanov - sculpture, I. Min. Pryanishnikov and P. A. Tens - painting. Painting in the full-time class was taught by: V. E. Makovsky, E. Village Sorokin and V. House Polenov. Baturin graduated from the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1888. Some time after its completion, he built himself a workshop in Stanov, where he painted many paintings. In the summer he went to sketches to the Crimea, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Palanga, Smolensk, Kaluga, Moscow, Tula province and other places. Participated in three exhibitions of the Moscow Traveling Association of Artists, was one of the organizers of the TPVH. He also participated in exhibitions of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists, has been a member of the society since 1910. From the exhibition of paintings of the St. Petersburg Society, his painting "Garden Blooms" was bought for the Winter Palace. In 1888-1890 he worked, together with other artists of Russia, as an artist-decorator of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. From 1890 to 1911 he was a teacher of drawing at the private Vishnevskaya Gymnasium in Moscow. From 1911 to 1914 he was in the service of a draftsman at the Polyakov factory in Moscow. He finished mansions in Moscow in various styles. He painted churches in Moscow and at the Polyakov factory in Gubaylov (near Art. Pavshino). He died on October 14, 1938 in Kuibyshev and was buried in Kuibyshev.
