Unlike other Chaos Gods, Malal does not actively prey on the transgressions of Mortals. It is daemon fear that empowers him. It is the hatred and spite felt by mortals towards daemons that fuels him. And so the Shadowbrood and Powers of Law and Order have an uneasy tolerance towards one another, mostly on the part of the Gods of Order. Cults of Malal exist everywhere, particularly in the Empire, where they hunt down and snuff out rival cults with a zeal to put even the Witch Hunters to shame.
Tolerance of these Malalian Cults varies. Some provinces actively work with them, some turn a blind eye, and others hunt down and destroy cults of Malal just as they would any other cult.
Malalian Cults are the most skilled in finding Khornate and Slaaneshi cults, the latter of which are the among the best hidden and most widely spread of the Cults of the Gods.

Malal and Beastmen
Beastmen are largely loathe to interact with the forces of Malal, be that his mortals or his daemons. They are chaos by nature, leaning towards perhaps one god or another, therefore Malal's creed is anathema to their entire existence. Commonly enough, the Daemons of Malal and Beasts of Chaos battle over supremacy of the Forests of Men. Malalians have the power, but the Beastmen by far outnumber them as well as have a natural knowledge of the wilds that Malalians do not.
However, when Beastmen do take the fifth path, it is almost always the lowest among them who turn: Brays, Turnskins, and Ungors. Because of this, and on top of their general weakness and lack of horns, these particular beastmen are relegated to the bottom of the pecking order where any treachery is the least damaging.
These Lesser Gors occasionally tire of the abuse heaped on them by the Gors of the tribe and strike out on their own into brayherds made of only their own kind, with the strongest of the Un-gors, called a Half Horn, leading them. However, these spitefully splintered groups rarely last long. Does tend to pair off with the strongest of beastmen for protection's sake, and so even un-gor does are loath to join their brethren. The original herd will inevitably go seeking this rebellious splinter group, forcibly beating them back in line and killing any leaders. If not them, then another herd-- the dexterity of the Ungor makes them invaluable to Brayherds as they are the only ones who can fashion armor and weapons.
Thusly, ever Half Horn Chieftain knows that he lives on borrowed time and that if, or more like when, the original herd catches up to him his fate will be grisly indeed. In order to avoid reprisal from the mother-herd, some Half-Horns will call upon the Hierarch, forsaking the Dark Gods. And sometimes, Malal will answer: he will send a Champion to lead the Herd or perhaps even mutate the current Ungor Beastlord and some of his warriors into a powerful creature of Chaos in order to fend off the aggression of Beastkin who search for them.
He marks his chosen with fur of solid black, solid white, or black and white patterns.

The Chaos Gods are not the first nor original inhabitants of the warp and are more akin to an invasive species, or at the very least, a encroaching species fit and efficient enough to outclass and “outbreed” the original warp inhabitants [src]. The original inhabitants of the warp do not derive their existence from any other supernatural entity, nor anyone on the material world. They simply exist and view Chaos Daemons and even the New Powers are unwelcome intruders.
However. These Indigenous Daemons also see within the New Powers, Malal specifically, the chance to finally erase and repel the Chaos Powers who have reigned so long and so completely that few can remember a time when they weren’t around...
Much like mortals, these daemons align themselves with Malal’s forces on occasion, though they hate and despise the Horned Rat, who is yet another Chaos God in their eyes and one with clear designs to simply supplant all others instead of outright destroy them.

Malal’s animal motifs are the Elk, Chameleon, Raptors, Urchins, and Draconic Serpents. The Xenodermus, or Dragon Snake, are considered to be especially holy animals in the eyes of Malal. Some even say they are his kin and indeed, these snakes are known to inhabit Drakwald more thickly than anywhere else in the world.
High ranking Malalian Cultists are known to breed and keep these creatures, trading them amongst each other. And every so often, one will grow obscenely large compared to it’s kin. Big enough to ride, even. These creatures, called Wyrms of Malal, are considered to be blessings by the god Malal. However, some in the cults offer a different explanation: that some Wyrms have a specific gene that causes this.
None much consider that it could be random mutation and not a blessing at all...

Abjectly and absolutely despises the Six Princes of Slaanesh. Unlike himself and his siblings, the Prince of Pleasure dotes on that lot. If he ever gets his claws into any of them, it’s a wrap.

Malal’s aspect of self-destruction manifests much more fully than a hatred of the chaos gods and a desire to destroy other daemons. He is a thing that should not be and his very essence knows it to be true. Malal has been slowly dying since being evicted from the Realms of Chaos, his body turning on itself as he nor his siblings should have ever, ever been born. This process can be slowed significantly by remaining within the Inter-Realm spaces he calls his kingdom, but not halted as he currently is. Even with the boon of power gifted to him by The Great Beast, he still slowly, ever so slowly wastes away.
Its rather embarrassingly mortal of him to do so, and he knows it.
