On Jay (Why It Makes Me Sad)

Five reasons why I want justice for this character.

Daniel is my ultimate bias in this webtoon, and I always cheer for him (mostly for the real Daniel), having so long seeing him as the underdog. However, with the webtoon's increasingly greater focus on Daniel's growth, both physically and mentally, I think I've lost sight on the injustice suffered by fans of other characters. I think of myself as a selfish, cruel fan, who enjoys my fave character's development at the expense of other people's suffering. And I'm sorry for that.

I'm talking about Jay.

First, it's just not fair for PTJ to suddenly bring Jay back into the foray only to have him assist Daniel in his hero journey and then be defeated dismissively. Jay is a character whose formidable strengths as a fighter were introduced very early in the story, as were his tenacity and loyalty.

Second, and most importantly, to me it's not fair for PTJ to abandon Jay after introducing his backstory as an emotionally abused minor.

Sometimes PTJ follows through with explaining the impacts of abuse. Eli's and Samuel's abusive backstories have real repercussions on how they grow as people and how they treat others. In other times, as in the case of Jasmine, PTJ dropped the plotline completely after introducing it. I hope that this won't be the case with Jay, since his backstory is connected with Steve Hong, Charles Choi's bitterest business rival and Daniel's secret backer.

Third, while I'm not invested in the Jay x Daniel ship, I'm sad about the hatred that some fans show Jay because of his sexual orientation, gentleness, and/or muteness. I wish that there was more organic way for PTJ to incorporate Jay more into the story. His long search for Big Daniel, for example, and his struggles in doing so. After all, wouldn't this sort of thing have made an interesting arc in a story that's bordering on the thriller genre?

Fourth, it disappoints me that we can't we see Jay build friendships with other characters more. I really enjoy seeing him interact (in silence, but still) with Vin, Jihan, Jibeom, and Hudson in this arc and in the arc before (Holiday Pt 2). I was surprised at how kind and understanding Hudson, Jibeom, and Jihan were to Jay, and how relaxed Vin treated him. Why can't we see more of that? Doesn't Jay deserve this development as an OG character who's been there since forever in this story?

Fifth, personally as someone who enjoys reading the duel scenes, I wish to see more representation of weapon users in the story. With an increasingly bizarre techniques (some fans say that Jake's drug lord brother uses pankration; an ancient, brutal form of Greek wrestling) being introduced in the story, Xiao Long's absence and Goo's deep involvement in Manager Kim's arcs, I miss seeing Jay fighting, and in detail. Arnis is a formidable martial arts, after all, and he's really good at it.

Justice for Jay.

summary: you’re just going to interview dg - your bias, your celebrity crush - on behalf of dispatch. what could go wrong?

there's no way around it: dg is your ultimate bias.

you've been enchanted by him since the moment he debuted - visuals, vocals, dancing, rapping, he's the epitome of talent. he's young and charismatic too, charming half the women in seoul the second he steps foot on stage for the first time. according to the news, he's only a month older than you. he'll change the idol industry, you told your boss back at the time, eyes bright. he'll change the world.

your boss looked back at you, a lowly intern fresh out of high school with nothing to your name, not even a bachelor's degree, only raw enthusiasm for hunting down the truth. okay.

it's very obvious he didn't believe you. you were a nobody, after all.

now, you're twenty-one and studying media and communications at seoul national university, the most prestigious university in south korea. you've got more experience and reference letters to boot. you're interning for dispatch, the most (in)famous entertainment news company in korea. they say they're willing to take you in as an official journalist the second you graduate.

even if dispatch is pretty shitty to idols, your old boss can suck it. you’re working for dispatch now.

it's been four years since dg debuted, and you're still his biggest fan. if dg has a million fans, you're one of them. if dg has ten fans, you're one of them. if dg has one fan, it's you. if dg has no fans, you're probably dead.

which is why you're currently panicking, bouncing off the walls with hysteria at four in the morning. all your colleagues know you as the local dg hard stan, so as the one with the most knowledge about dg you've been scheduled to shadow a sunbae from the journalism department to interview the one and only dg for a cover article in twelve hours.

dg doesn't know who you are, but you've been to every single one of his concerts and fan meets, bought every single one of his albums and made a shrine to him out of photocards. you know him - or at least the version he shows the public - as well as you know your own skin.

you've got yourself a nice outfit: a white blouse with flowy sleeves, a black corset to accentuate your figure, black pants that are just long enough to show off your nice legs. it's better than you've dressed for any date, which would probably explain why you've never had a romantic relationship before. you've always put dg and your studies before everything else, after all.

you’re not sure how long you sleep for, but you shoot out of bed immediately after your alarm starts screaming, and the rest of the morning passes in a similar haze. you don’t even remember getting to the interview spot, but when you do, you’re a whole fifteen minutes early. at least your make-up is looking fabulous.

“excuse me,” says a familiar voice, “are you from dispatch?”

your heart skips a beat. you turn around, and-

“oh,” you breathe, feeling a little weak in the knees.

dg is tall.

he’s taller than he looks on television, and even though he has only the slightest of makeup on his face, the ceo of ptj entertainment is as beautiful as any renaissance painting. he looks almost unreal.

he smiles down at you, warm and friendly. he feels like someone you can trust. “i’ll take that as a yes, then.”

all you can do is nod, because you don’t trust yourself enough to speak.

“would you like to head in first?” dg gestures towards one of the rooms - there are two security guards outside, both of them shooting you dirty looks. you catch dg shooting them an even dirtier look, and they look away, like wounded dogs with their tails between their legs. “you’re the newbie, aren’t you? we can have a little chat before your colleague arrives.”

that sounds a little like a threat, now. but at the same time, dg could make you do anything he wanted and you’d probably thank him for it. “i- i-”

“be not afraid,” he says, still smiling at you, almost inhumanly beautiful. it’s almost like he knows how you joke about him being angel incarnate. well, you’re not scared of him, you’re scared of you. “i don’t bite.” he leans down, and you go cross-eyed at the proximity. “unless you want me to.”

“i- i-”

“i’m kidding, i’m kidding.” he guides you into the room, relaxing onto the couch opposite yours. you’re a rabbit who strolled into the den of a lion, timidly perched on the edge of the loveseat. dg has no shame in reclining across the back of the couch, legs splayed out so he takes up most of the sofa even though he’s only one man. you try your best not to look at the space between his toned thighs, because even if you want to know whether dg really does have the biggest cock out of all the idols, now is not the time to find out.

only then do you realize you haven’t introduced yourself. you jump up and bow, ninety-degrees. “my name is y/n! it’s a pleasure to meet you, sir, i’m a really big fan!”

that doesn’t even begin to cover how big of a fan you are, but he doesn’t have to know that.

he gestures towards your bag, and you finally notice the limited edition that’s been hanging there the whole time. you had to fight people for that. “i could tell.”

ahhhh, that’s so embarrassing! and unprofessional!

“it’s cute. you can call me dagyeom, by the way. that’s my name, after all. no need for dg-ssi. we’re around the same age anyway. as for sir...” he smirks. “you can save that for elsewhere.”

“elsewhere? like... where?”

he spreads his legs wider, like he’s making space for something. he raises an eyebrow almost invitingly. “where do you think?”

is he... flirting? with you? oh god, he’s flirting with you.

nothing in all of your years as a journalist or a dg fan has ever prepared you for this. you’ve never heard anything about him flirting. he’s insanely good at hiding from the press and the cameras. you’ve never been assigned to professionally stalk him before (you’re much better with a frontal approach), but some of your colleagues have, and all of them were caught in the act. he barely even does aegyo for the fanservice.

you give yourself a mental smack in the head. this is the interview of a lifetime! you are face to face with the person you’ve admired for years! you cannot let yourself be horny on main!

he laughs, amusement dancing on his lips as he watches countless emotions flicker across your face in the span of a few seconds. “cute.”

ehhhhhh?

just as that moment, your sunbae barges in. he’s huffing and puffing, clearly having run here, but he’s on time. nobody had told you which sunbae you would be shadowing, but you had been desperately hoping it wasn’t him. you’ve shown nothing but respect for him, as you should, but let’s not even talk about inches, not once has he ever shown you even a centimeter of respect. so he’s late, huh? it feels mean, but you hope he made a bad impression in front of dg. “dagyeom-ssi-”

dagyeom smiles, frigid and unamused, a stark contrast from the way he’d smiled at you. even his spread legs feels less like a calling and more like a threat, although it’s dominant and overbearing either way. “call me dg.”

your sunbae swallows and nods. “dg-ssi, we can begin the interview now.”

wow. dagyeom is really, really biased.

it looks like there’s still a lot you don’t know about him, but your heart flutters in your chest at the feeling of being able to know more.

you’re pretty experienced with interviews - you know the journalist should lead the conversation, and always ask for elaborations from the interviewee. but this time, dagyeom is the one in the lead, constantly offering you chances to speak and ask questions while blatantly ignoring your sunbae.

both of you journalists are helpless under the full force of his charisma as he drives the conversation, one hand on the wheel, the other resting on your shoulder. if this interview was a car, your sunbae would’ve been stuffed in the trunk, or tied up with a rope and dragged along behind the car. but when you ask about his past and why he became an idol, he becomes tight-lipped.

there’s probably a reason why he never talks about his past, after all. you were just trying to see if you could get a scoop out of things, or be the first to find out.

“i just thought it was neat,” he says with a shrug. “singing and dancing and making money off that.”

you ask him about his thoughts on aegyo next, and giggle when he makes a face. dagyeom has always hated acting cute for the cameras, but you think he’s cuter when he’s pouting like that and complaining about fan-service.

(you are a much bigger fan for the more… physical kind of fan-service, so to speak. but you would die of shame before admitting to his face that you got all hot and bothered when he ripped his shirt off for a show in the middle of a rap. and that time when he modelled for calvin klein, with the waistband of his boxers peeking out under his tight jeans. and the rich boy concept photos with him in the pool, smirking lavisciously. those toned pecs… the lick-able abs… hhhhnnnnnggggg~

enough, enough! you’ll die of shame right now if you don’t stop thinking about that. luckily, you’re good at multitasking, and you’re fully capable of taking notes dutifully while imagining dagyeom bending you over the table.)

the interview comes to an end all too soon, with all your questions answered except the ones about his past, or his worst fears. he’s been rather vague about some of them, but as an idol and ceo of an entertainment company, dagyeom likes to keep whatever privacy he can, and as a respectful journalist you won’t pry too deeply. even if you did, you’d find out in your own time and never tell him.

just before your sunbae drags you off, dagyeom holds you back, grabbing your hand and pulling you towards him. you gasp as he catches you gracefully when you stumble, steady hands on your waist. his hands are big enough to wrap around you entirely, and the realisation makes your cheeks heat. “i’ll keep in touch. i’ve seen your other works. you’re too good for the likes of dispatch.”

“my other…?!”

you can feel his minty breath fanning across your cheeks when he speaks. “see you soon, jagiya. don’t let me down.”

you’re not sure how you don’t faint on the spot, or collapse completely when an email from ptj entertainment pops up in your inbox half a day later, formally requesting you to join the company as part of the media and communications department.

you email them your cv, resume, all your reference letters. i’m still doing my bachelor’s degree in journalism at snu.

this time, kang dagyeom emails you back personally. that’s perfectly fine with me. you can start as soon as next week.

you terminate your internship contract at dispatch at the end of the week. good riddance to the sunbae who had disrespected you. you’ve got the job of your dreams.

UPDATED: The Mystery of Daniel (Hyungseok)'s Two Bodies: List of the Wild Circulating Theories so Far...

Disclaimer: Not 100% my original thoughts but a combo of multiple fan theories and my own opinions. Spoilers alert, obviously.

Okay this theory post is divided into: A) The origin of the alternate body; B) The functions of the alternate body; C) The reasons why Daniel was chosen or why he found the body; and D) Where the alternate body was stored before.

First, theories of the origin of the alternate body.

Origins A and B explain why the two bodies look more and more alike as the real Daniel grows and matures. The others see it from different angles.

ORIGIN A: FUTURE SELF OR FUTURE/PRESENT TWIN

Theory 1

Most popular theory: the alternate body is Daniel's own future body or a better artificial version of himself, which somehow was transported to the past timeline by either a supernatural (Questism has supernatural elements and is set in PTJ universe, you see) or technological means. As Daniel changes and grows, the alternate body will eventually integrate with the real Daniel or vanish.

Theory 2

The alternate body is Daniel's brain dead biological or artificial twin, which will later get its own consciousness (the theory doesn't mention any connection with Jinyoung Park, the mad genius scientist, or how the body will be conscious).

Theory 3 (Update)

The alternate body is Daniel's alternate timeline self and he transported his body to the past because in the future everything was ruined either by Charles Choi or by Jake's brother and he was determined to fix everything from the start.

ORIGIN B: SOMETHING TO DO WITH JINYOUNG PARK (Why both Daniel's real and alternate bodies look like the scientist)

Theory 1

The alternate body is a real person's body, which is made devoid of any consciousness either from an incurable illness or from a series of experiments, with or without the consent of the body's true owner.

This true owner might be an unknown son of Charles Choi (Choi Dongsoo)'s or Jinyoung's. Therefore, the alternate body is Daniel's twin or cousin or whatever.

Theory 2

The alternate body is an artificial biomachine created by either Charles himself/his team or Jinyoung/his team or together, and was either modeled fully after Jinyoung's young self or sampled from his DNA.

Then who's the real son/relative of Jinyoung's? The answer is the real Daniel.

ORIGIN C: SOMETHING TO DO WITH D.G.'S MURKY PAST

Theory 1

The alternate body is D.G.'s original body (James Lee / Lee Jihoon) that was modified through plastic surgery. D.G.'s current beautiful body is his artificial, alternate one. That's why he looks so young. D.G. planned to live with two bodies while running away from his crimes as James. But he failed.

Theory 2

The alternate body is artificial and was created as D.G.'s alternate body, and was injected with his capabilities and memories as James. But D.G. failed to use it.

In theories 1 & 2, maybe D.G. failed to use the body because:

He parted ways from Charles because of extortion, exploitation, ideological differences? And a) he was no longer helped by the CEO, OR b) he set himself free from Charles.

Or his consciousness couldn't return to that body somehow (if it was his original one) so he has no choice but to live with his current body only.

Or he couldn't transfer his consciousness to it (if it's artificial) and had to resort to plastic surgery instead to shed his James identity.

Theory 3

The alternate body is a result of genetic mutation that runs in James's and Daniel's family (a.k.a they both are genetically predisposed to split into alternate bodies at a certain age and are related).

My opinion: and maybe James' side of the family are all gone, bought into silence or were killed so noone could confirm the connection...idk.

Is that why he lived alone as a student and noone looked for James?

Theory 4 (UPDATE)

The alternate body is James Lee's real body that was modified through plastic surgery and other experiments, and the current DG is an orphan who claimed that identity

ORIGIN D: 'LEGACY' FROM GEN 0 OR GEN 1

Theory 1

The alternate body has been around since the 0th generations but was later stolen and/or stored until it was reused in Daniel's era (the fan theorist did not explain who used it back then and why). Charles probably killed its real owner to get it (whoever created it or whoever originally lived in that body).

Theory 2

Charles was the original owner of that body when he was Elite, or before it. He no longer used it for reasons similar to the previously discussed D.G. theory

Theory 3 (UPDATED)

The original body is the body of Jake's half-brother, and the reason why he was adept with that man's techniques is because he is the original body of that man, not the one in Mexico right now.

Moving on to the theories of the functions of the alternate body (Functions A, B, C)

The theories either pinpoint him as a soldier (function A), an experimental subject (function B) or a private property (function C).

FUNCTION A: TACTICAL DATA BANK/ BIOMACHINE / SOLDIER

Theory 1

The alternate body is someone's private tactical data bank just like the "system" in Questism (another PTJ universe webtoon). The skills are 'downloaded' from various fighters including D.G., Gun Park (Park Jonggun), Goo Kim (Kim Joongoo), 0th & 1st generations fighters, and maybe even countless soldiers, mercenaries, or even criminals that we'll never see in PTJ universe.

Theory 2 (mine)

The alternate body is a biomachine weapon/perfect soldier for hire for criminals/ private sectors/ the government in a secret project carried out by either Charles or Jinyoung (idk...I mean Manager Kim features many of the NK-SK espionage and conflict in its plot, and Viral Hit/How to Fight features mercenaries. Both webtoons are set in PTJ universe.)

Theory 3

The alternate body was an alternate fighter body for various fighters in the previous generation, and the memories of the combat skills were stored from whoever inhabited it, plus multiple fights.

In all three theories, the maximum combat capability can only be accessed when the body senses danger, helplessness, or is drugged (in UI mode)

Theory 4 (UPDATE)

The Body was actually sent from the future by Daniel's future or alternate timeline self to assist Daniel and to prevent the bleak things that happened in the alternate timeline(s).

FUNCTION B: ONGOING SOCIAL EXPERIMENT MONITORED BY SEVERAL PEOPLE

Theory 1

The body serves as a guinea pig for Charles's social experiment on human behavior, which ranges from daily situations (school life) to workplace (industry/hallyu entertainment biz) to dire situations (life and death combats).

Theory 2

CEO Steve Hong (Hong Kyeongyeong), aka Jay (Jaeyeol) 's father actually knew about the social experiment or secret military project regarding the alternate body. He probably has been spying on Charles since forever.

In this theory, Jay has been his dad's unwilling spy since Daniel's alternate body became his friend. He's also in a capacity as alternate body Daniel's secret bodyguard both because he genuinely cares for Daniel and because it's an order from his dad.

In both theories, Crystal is an unaware spy of her dad (through her stories to Gun Park (Park Jonggun). And her original body is the beautiful one which is why she makes sure to do workouts in it. The shorter Crystal is the alternate body.

FUNCTION C: A PRIVATE PROPERTY OF JAMES, ELITE (CHARLES) and/or JINYOUNG

(Please read the previous sections about James, Charles and the 0th generation... if you're still here)

Now, onto the theories of why Daniel was chosen/found the alternate body.

The theories are either focused on Daniel's house itself or the existence of person or persons who might be aware of the existence of alternate bodies. UPDATE: The new theory about a future Daniel is also thrown into the mix.

REASON A: DANIEL'S HOUSE IS THE KEY

Theory 1

Because the house Daniel currently lives in was Charles's first lab and his house, the alternate body was drawn to that place out of his storage or wherever, for whatever purpose, and entered the house when Daniel was asleep.

Theory 2

Because of a supernatural connection between Daniel's current house and Charles's alternate body project, Daniel's alternate body was born in it when Daniel was asleep (something in the house triggered its birth).

REASON B: EXPERIMENT IS THE KEY

Theory 1

Because the alternate body was a gift from Charles (as a part of his social experiment or not)...but I'm not sure about this one. I think when Charles said "gift" he meant sarcastically as in "I lost it but you found it and wasted it."

REASON C: DANIEL'S MOM AND THE 0th GENERATION ARE THE KEY

Theory 1

Because Daniel's mom made a deal with whoever made that body (maybe it was not Charles or Jinyoung, or maybe it was them). And she rented the house for her son on purpose to help him turn his life around or she was forced to participate in an experiment because of something in her/Daniel's dad's past (my opinion: but why didn't she recognize the alternate body as Jinyoung's lookalike/as the body her son would inhabit? Wouldn't whoever made the deal with her show her the body first? Or not? )

In this case

Someone transported the alternate body to the house (someone who knew that Daniel moved there).

Or the alternate body moved on his own..zombie-like, out of wherever he was before.

I must admit that Reasons A and C make me scared lmaooo...imagine the conspiracy. Also imagine a brain dead body moving around while...or one that was born out of thin air.

REASON D: DANIEL'S FUTURE OR ALTERNATE TIMELINE IS THE KEY

Theory 1

Because the alternate body was actually sent by Daniel's future or alternate timeline self to prevent Daniel from making the same mistakes that he made in that future or alternate timeline (the war against Charles and another 'great power')

Last but not least, theories of where the body was stored before Daniel found him.

The places are either secluded or private properties.

Theory 1 (mine)

The secret asylum ran by Hangyeol of Workers (Ilhae) behind the plastic surgery clinic, or in the clinic itself.

If he was a real person maybe

He was abducted and experimented upon in one of its wards without his consent until he was brain dead.

Or he was taken there in secret when he was already brain dead before.

In this case, since apparently Eugene (Yoojin) has no idea of the existence of alternate bodies, maybe Hangyeol either didn't tell him or someone else ran the place before they both did.

Theory 2

Jinyoung's secret lab where Samuel Seo (Seo Seongeun), Johan Song (Song Yohan), and Daniel's alternate body are currently being abducted, tortured, and drugged.

Theory 3

Other locations owned by Charles including Daniel's current house, Charles's companies, his house, his lab, James's old house, his old high school.

Theory 4

Locations owned by D.G. (his house, etc)

Theory 5

Locations owned by members of the 0th generation fighters. I don't know if this is still valid since Gapryong Kim didn't seem to get along that well with Charles/Elite towards the end, and Tom Lee (Lee Dogyu) didn't know about alternate bodies.

Theory 6 (mine)

A government lab (if he was created for government military purposes)

I love him. No new news. But I fucking love him. I love that adorable little fluffy haired bastard more than words can explain, more than I can talk, more than my entire life. I use pictures because I can't find the corecct words to use most of the time and expressions are the only thing i could show. OK.

Despite my undying love for this man- I'll admit they're cute n all BUT I always felt it was undeveloped.

I don't know if it's just me but when Jason (I think) said he'd snitch about him being with neko to her I was confused back when he was still under the influence of those pills at workers. Like, Did I miss something? Did I forget something from the gaps between the arcs? Idk. But even if she was shown to be worried over Sinu, it didn't seem romantic at all especially that all the big deal girls cared too. PTJ also made it seem like an already established relationship and I'm still questioning when?? She seemed to know him well and all but no hinting of any romantic attraction was there, just your average big deal romanticism and admiration lol.

I understand that PTJ has to leave some details away for the sake of the pacing but I think he could've at least thrown some hints here and there.

ok yeah. so this won't be a super long post because i am tired but good lord i am very... lukewarm about sinu and yeonhui. im with you on the "who?" when yeonhui was mentioned again in 2a. now im glad that sinu is with someone he's happy with but man... sinu and yeonhui is just such a mid ship compared to literally anyone else he could've been shipped with. let me explain.

yeonhui's lack of presence in the story. now this is probably the main reason i find this ship so lackluster. how am i supposed to root for a ship when the female love interest is literally like npc #125? while she did have more presence than the other girls on the street, this isn't really a high bar considering ptj's track record writing female characters. and this isn't to say she was boring or had a bland personality either (even though she KINDA did...). she was strong and independent, stood up to samuel when he tried to extort them for money (iirc), bore the burden of sinu's sacrifice and stayed strong for big deal, and was there to comfort jake when he learned of the news. she could've been a REALLY interesting character because she was so strong and also stuck to her ideals in the same way sinu did, so they could've been such a power couple, had yeonhui been developed more. it would've been nice to see yeonhui and sinu strategize about how to protect big deal together, or see more of yeonhui bandaging and caring for sinu after he gets hurt, or seeing sinu bring yeonhui gifts and money... or anything, really. the two have barely have any substantial interactions over the entire arc besides the last part where sinu's about to sacrifice himself, so much so that it makes me wonder... who is this yeonhui person? why are they important again.

chemistry. this mainly comes up to personal preference but yeonhui and sinu feel more like an older sister-younger brother dynamic to me. yeonhui took sinu in as a child, fed, clothed, and cared for him, and then continues to take care of him as an adult, which comes off as big sis behavior. again, some people may like this dynamic romantically, but i personally find it super platonic and sibling-leaning.

other sinu ships. idk. just find it a LITTLE heteronormative that any man and woman who share a little bit of screentime together are instantly a couple while sinu and jake can be out here pulling "you are my everything" and "i came back to big deal for you and you alone, jake" moments, and they'll still be just "good bros". again, kind of up to personal preference, but if you compare yeonhui x sinu to jake x sinu or even samuel x sinu, there's a clear lack of interactions and chemistry for yeonhui x sinu

so yeah. thats kinda it. this ended up being way longer than i expected so im not gonna write a conclusion paragraph but those are my thoughts around yeonhui and sinu together romantically.

maturing as a lookism reader is realizing that ptj are just really really bad at timelines (lee beolgu hair? gone).

I read lookism since 2020, and I kinda wish ptj explains more about the previous character that he made, instead of making new characters and abandoning the rest. there's just so much potential. but hey, this is what the majority of readers wanted. if I'm not mistaken, I heard somewhere that lookism actually was about to end until people asking ptj to continue it. well. idk what to say tbfh.

Jay and Daniel Childhood Friends Theory

So when Daniel was first introduced to the other students at his schools, the reactions we see are "those thrilled at the sight of him", "Those on alert", and a separate non-specified reaction from Jay. What his reaction was is never explained but it's clearly also some form of attraction/crush as we can see from his multiple shows of affections towards Daniel, and yet it's still unique from how the other girls react to him, implying something's different about how Jay sees him(and no we're not gonna try and say it's because he's a guy because how would that make sense, because he's a guy his "crush" is different from the other girls' "crush"?).

Now, to me, Jay looks like he's in a state of surprise here, almost as if he recognizes Daniel. Sure, Daniel's new body looks drastically different then his old body but Daniel has this almost sixth sense when it comes to Jay. He just understands what Jay wants to say at any point almost as if it's second nature to him. It's not hard to then think that the reverse might be the same, that Jay is able to recognize Daniel even after years have gone by and he looks drastically different.

The other thing that caught my attention is this panel from chapter 48, when Jay supposedly meets Daniel's mom and his old body for the first time.

This is a flashback panel but the thing is that we never see Daniel's mom saying this to Jay in the present. "Think of me as your mom" is also really interesting because Jay's mom is the only one of his family to have not made an appearance and doesn't seem to be in the picture for some reason. Daniel's mom did not even tell Daniel's new body, who to her, is her son's roommate, to think of her as his mom the first time she met him and for some reason she says it to Jay, who for all intents and purposes is just one of her son's friends, the first time she meets him? Like I said, interesting.

Maybe I'm looking into this too much but Jay's reaction to small Daniel also feels off because we know he's not the type to be discriminatory to people based on their appearances and that's not even really what his facial expression seems to imply, if anything he looks bewildered, as if he didn't expect for small Daniel to even exist, as if he thought big Daniel *was* the small Daniel from his past and yet there's another small Daniel here now.

Not to mention, he wasn't even phased when small Daniel also exhibits the same sixth sense big Daniel has about him where he could understand Jay no problem. It's almost pounded into us just how rare it is for people to be able to read Jay the way Daniel does, like Daniel is the only one we've seen in the series(except for vasco when he and jace asked him what his dreams were and we needed someone to convey his thoughts and daniel wasn't present so i think that was more a "we need someone to to convey his words and daniel's not here" situation) to be able to do this and Jay doesn't even seem surprised that this friend of Daniel's who shares Daniel's full name and lives with him somehow also could read him this well upon meeting him for the first time.

There's also the fact that Jay was the one who moved big Daniel to the VIP room when he was in a coma meaning he saw his name being "James Lee" so we know he *knows* something is up with Daniel.

I won't deny that there are holes in this theory, such as why wouldn't Daniel remember Jay or why Jay didn't go looking for small Daniel when big Daniel was in a coma but I think it could be explained away pretty easily with good enough writting, which I think PTJ definitely has.

Your familiar, He is a sadistic man that loves to see your struggles when you're fighting monsters, he loves to see you squirm as he goes near you and especially when he mentions your "meat" is his favorite part.

A/N: I am back! I am so burned out/too busy and out of ideas lol. as this also just fanfiction is just on a whim that I made! I probably shoud go back to drawing and stack every paragraph on this story. (being 3rd year in 2nd sem kicked my gear into lazy mode and busy catching up)

Both of them arrive at the grand door beside the door there is a plate that is written ‘Place the Gifts and Letter for Head Priest DG here’ with an arrow that points down and you can see a lot of gifts, flowers, and letters being placed under a metal plate.

Y/n prepares herself to knock on the door, and Gun is at her back staring at Y/N's figure since they have left the summoning room.

'Her physic is definitely different from what I remember from those past centuries those nun/clerics are too fragile. As they are basically so easy to break when they are in a field battle as they mostly serve as buffer and healer.' Gun admires his new master body while comparing her to those weaklings that he has fought with centuries or decades ago.

Knock

“Come in”

Creeeeeek

"Good afternoon Head priest DG" Y/n open the door gently as she doesn't want to disturb him. Entering the room with Gun, and bow to the head priest as a sign of respect. While Gun merely just stood beside her staring intensely at DG like he is pinning point on why does he look familiar.

The pink hair idol looking man name DG smiles as he put down his paper work "Ha, Miss L/N I have been informed by your advisor that you need to resolve the issues of your familiar" ignoring on the demons intense stare

Y/N simply nod at DG and explain the situation

After Y/N explains the details, Head priest DG tapping his pointing fringer rapidly on the table thinking on how he would instruct Y/N problem.

And finally he stopped tapping.

"Miss Y/N, why don't you leave this problem to me I can process the form of this registration without any problem." He smiles

"Also can you leave first as I have to discuss something with your "familiar"" DG said to Y/N as he glares at Gun.

Y/N look at back and forth between them thinking that DG want to lecture a Demon and put a rule during his stay in the PTJ realm.

'Hopefully, they don't fight' Y/N thought as she leave the room.

Making sure the door closes tightly the two talk.

"It's been a while since we have met DG, ha no should I say James Lee the archangel." Gun smirk as he turns the door nob.

Dg smile turns into a shit grin like he gonna troll the crap out of Gun "Gun-ssi, You should already know already that I don’t go with the James Lee anymore, but you should hurry up and catch up with your new master. Wouldn't want her to steal away from some of her classmates right?"

Gun tsked as he remembered that his new master Y/n may probably get mobbed by his new fans due to him being a unique summon.

"Tell me what are you warning me about? "DG""

DG merely huffed at the remarked of Gun and leaned at his chair. "I would like to remind you to be on the watch list of the officials, so don't be reckless as you're gonna drag me into your problem."

"Of course of course, I won't do it out in the open with evidence DG. You must have forgotten that I keep my hands clean and legal." Gun slicked his hair back showing how confident and arrogant in his skills, turned his back from the pink hair priest and turned the doorknob.

"Before I go, I remember why they say that you are a demon dressed in angel from those times "DG "..... did you think that you can fool me on your tapping to cover those sinful sounds when this devil has sensitive hearing." Gun smirks as he goes out and closes the door.

A choking sound can be heard under the table of Dg.

"My my my Miss Kang don't worry about that, just keep on going, my dear"

Mmm?!?

"Yes yes, it's still safe to keep on going. He is merely teasing as he is also an unstated creature. Ha, surely no one will come here until the evening meeting… Why don't you sit on my knee, my dear." DG petting something? Someone? under his table.

Y/N being a good master she waits for Gun while she's staring outside the window, she still needs to show him around the campus and set some boundaries when she is in class or on fields. She doesn't want anyone to mob her for her unique familiar or just have him scaring the crap out of everyone from his majestic and terror aura.

"-Sensitive hearing"

Hearing the door closed, snaps her thoughts and looked at Gun who is approaching her.

"Ha! Gun! Did head priest DG talk to you about how you will settle?" Y/N rubs her neck nervously as she can feel the intense stare from her familiar.

In the spur of the moment, Gun brought his head beside Y/N's ear and whispered in a deep gritty voice. "My dear mistress, It's nothing to worry about."

Y/N backed away quickly while covering her right ear, blushing like a tomato at the Gun's whisper.
