There were days like this, where Giovanni would wake up in the dorm and feel…strange. To best describe it, he’d probably have to say it was like he was piloting his body rather than inhabiting it. Walking around in a stifling costume for hours on end and not being able to remove it even if he tried.
Which…felt morbid as he thought about it.
Still, at the very least he was able to move even if it felt uncomfortable. Rather thankful for that fact right now as he bolted away from a very angry Alpha Ursaring. As much as he tried to explain that he just wanted to feed the Teddiursas for the stupid pokedex, it simply wasn’t having it. Even after finding a perfect hiding spot and just tossing the berries hoping for the best.
“Dammit dammit dammit,” he cursed as he got out the flute and awkwardly played the tune. “Come on come on…!”
Just like that he found himself on the back of Wyrdeer, latched on for dear life as it bolted away. They finally came to a stop near the forest area, where Giovanni finally relaxed and promptly fell off Wyrdeer, smacking the ground with a loud thud. Wyrdeer made a huffing sound before he settled beside him, keeping a look out as Giovanni tried to settle. That odd feeling continued to course through his body as he slowly forced himself up, if just to lean against the pokemon.
“Ugh I wanted to get some more pages done before I went back,” Giovanni groaned. “...Maybe I can try looking for the turtwig first before I head back? I heard there were some wild ones around here somewhere. Also petilils aren’t that hard to catch and that one guy really wanted honey from this area…”
“I think you need to listen to your body and rest instead my friend.”
Giovanni flinched and slowly looked over his shoulder to spot Adaman standing there. The leader shook his head and walked over.
“Morning Adaman,” Giovanni sighed and yelped when the younger man lifted him up with ease. “...You are a lot stronger than anticipated.”
“And you are fool who likes to overwork himself,” Adaman said and helped him onto Wyrdeer’s back. “How about you rest at the Diamond Camp for now? I don’t think you’ll make it to the entrance like this.”
“I’ll take you on that offer if you never pick me up like that again.”
“Don’t fall off Wyrdeer like that again and I won’t have to.”
The Diamond clan was a lot nicer when it came to strangers unlike Jubilife Village. Which the bar was already pretty low so all they had to do was step over it. He still got quite a few stares but in the end, they helped him down from Wyrdeer and allowed him to rest in one of their tents.
“Adaman is it truly alright to have a stranger here?” He heard someone ask outside.
Of course there was still someone like that.
“He helped with Lord Kleavor and now is helping us with Lady Lilligant,” Adaman said. “Let's not be rude to our hero shall we?”
“You’re right…sorry Adaman.”
Instantly Adaman was a lot higher on the appreciation list than Kamado. At least he tried to ease public worry and not just let things run its course.
He peeked over as Adaman stepped into the tent and holding a bowl of okayu in hand. Giovanni reached over to grab it, but just like that his body seemed to fail him and the bowl started to plummet. Luckily Adaman caught it in time before it decorated the floor.
“...You’re staying the night,” Adaman said and sat on the bed.
“I’m fine I’m just…a little off is all,” Giovanni said and shuffled to sit up a bit. “Thank you for the food.”
“You’re welcome, say ahh.”
“...I’m no longer hungry.”
“Such a shame you’re eating anyway.”
He glared at the leader only to sigh and awkwardly open his mouth. Adaman looked away to hold back a laugh before he fed Giovanni a spoonful. It was…embarrassing, Giovanni could feel his face burning as Adaman held back his laughter to a poor extent.
“Can I just feed myself,” Giovanni groaned holding his face.
“Aww come on just relax,” Adaman said with a chuckle giving him another bite. “Go back to the good ole days when your mother would feed you when you were sick in bed.”
“...I don’t have such memories honestly, when I was sick as a child I merely stayed in my room and waited until I was no longer sick.”
He instantly looked away from Adaman knowing full well that the man was probably giving him a pitying look. It wasn’t something that bothered him, that was just the kind of woman his mother was. Honestly if she had personally gone and made him okayu then proceeded to feed him, he’d suspect it was poisoned to some degree. Another spoonful was pushed to his face and he begrudgingly ate that as well. It was still embarrassing but now it was embarrassing as Adaman was clearly looking guilty.
“It’s fine Adaman,” he said with a sigh. “I don’t need needless pitying, how I grew up is how I’m able to become the man I am now.”
“Yes a man who can hardly put his guard down,” Adaman said. “And will work himself to such a state.”
“...Just let me eat in peace Adaman.”
“Yes yes…you’re still going to spend the night here I hope you realize.”
“Fine, just please tell the professor I don’t want him worrying for no reason too.”
“I’m specifically telling him you fell off a Wyrdeer.”
()()()()
That night Giovanni found himself exhausted beyond belief but unable to sleep. His body felt even more distant than before to the point that he didn’t feel like any control at all. He winced as he struggled to move his body but outside of the twitches here and there, he was essentially trapped.
If Arceus could grant him a blessing right now that would be great, he thought idly. After all, it was hard to seek all pokemon when he couldn’t even move his body!
“Big brother…are you feeling better?”
…What?
Giovanni started coughing and found himself in a brand new room. He was able to move again surprisingly so he quickly tried to get out of bed only for a pair of tiny chubby hands to push him back down. Was it one of the children at the diamond clan? Did Adaman ask them to keep watch? That bastard was getting a bit too…
Sitting beside him was a young Akari, who looked no older than five years old. She looked like she was crying pretty badly with snot dripping down her nose as she latched onto his arm.
“No you gotta rest!” She sobbed. “Otherwise…otherwise you’re gonna die!”
“A-Akari!” A unfamiliar voice came out of him as he struggled to get her off. “Gross you’re getting snot all over me!!”
“I think getting a little snot on you is a fair trade off for being so stupid,” a woman said. “Honestly now, what were you thinking going after those squirtle!”
“Mommy Rei was trying to escape!”
Rei? Who the hell was Rei? He opened his mouth to ask but instead…
“It was for the sake of research,” Giovanni said and grinned. “And research shows that Squirtles don’t like when their secret meetings get interrupted.”
“Mhm now look at you,” the woman sighed. “What am I going to do with you Rei?”
“Sorry mother.”
That…was certainly not his mother and yet she felt so familiar. She sighed loudly once more before taking a seat beside him, gently rubbing his head as she hummed.
“Mother I’m too old for this,” he complained and she merely hushed him.
“You’re never too old to be taken care of by your mother,” she said and smiled. “How about some pecha berries?”
“I want some too!” Akari said raising her hand, her face still a mess.
“That would be nice…thank you.”
“You’re welcome Rei, now rest up! Once you’re back on your feet your father is going to give you a scolding of a lifetime! Come on Akari.”
Akari whined as their mother picked her up and started to walk away. Giovanni felt his eyes grow heavy again but forced himself out of the futon instead. Control was returned as he shuffled his way towards the nearest bathroom. He needed to see himself, he wasn’t sure why but he just needed to see his reflection. As he walked past the door he found himself falling into a dark abyss, trying to scream but nothing would dare to come out.
“Not yet,” a familiar voice echoed through his skull. “One day, I’ll let you see but for now…continue your mission and forget Giovanni…forget…”
()()()()
“Sakaki!!!”
Giovanni gasped as he found himself back in the Diamond tent. His heart was racing as he tried to get his bearings again. His body felt normal again, it felt like his again. He grabbed at the sheets a little tighter only to realize that someone was holding onto his hand. Looking over, Giovanni flinched as he saw Adaman, Laventon, and Akari all standing there looking at him worriedly. He glanced down and saw his death grip on Adaman’s hand and quickly snatched it away.
“Sorry for worrying you,” Giovanni sighed and looked away. “How embarrassing I must’ve troubled you Adaman I’m deeply-”
“Don’t apologize!” Adaman shouted, taking his hand again. “Sakaki, you weren’t waking up…no matter what we did! It was like…it was like…”
“It was like you were a corpse,” Laventon said shakily.
All the blood drained from his body the moment those words escaped Laventon’s mouth. He wanted to ask more questions but his attention turned to Akari who was full on sobbing now.
“...Akari come here,” Giovanni said offering an arm. “I’m sorry I-”
The second he opened his arm slightly, Akari quickly lunged in and latched onto him sobbing deeply into his chest.
“Akari gross you’re getting snot all over me!” Giovanni complained but made no movement to get her off.
“This is what you get for being a corpse!” She sobbed. “I was scared when Adaman grabbed us…he said you wouldn’t wake up and that when he touched you…you felt so cold. I…I thought you…I thought…”
“...I refuse to die from natural causes, if I die it’ll be because that Alpha Ursaring finally got me- OW! WHY DID YOU HIT ME?!”
“Don’t die at all!!!”
“Akari wait he literally just woke up from being essentially dead,” Laventon panicked.
By the time everything had calmed down, Giovanni was now sitting on the side of the bed with Akari still latched onto him. Her crying died down as she hiccuped into his sleeve.
“I wasn’t…out for long right?” Giovanni asked.
“No but that’s not the problem Sakaki,” Adaman sighed and rubbed the back of his head. “When I came to wake you up this morning, you were…lifeless. I checked your pulse and there was nothing there. Part of me was hoping that…maybe I just wasn’t checking correctly and before I knew it I was already running to Laventon. Akari just happened to be there…”
“The fact you woke up is a miracle,” Laventon said. “You suddenly had a pulse again and you were just…screaming.”
“It was terrifying,” Akari whispered.
Well that was definitely something he was going to message Arceus about. Yet more importantly…doesn’t that make him even less trustworthy? A man who died and suddenly came back screaming? The villagers no doubt saw their leader panicking and someone must’ve been in the tent with him while he left. What if word gets back to Jubilife village and-
“...You can tell exactly what he’s thinking about,” Adaman said with a forced laugh. “Sakaki…this hasn’t left the tent. No one but us knows what happened just now. Everyone just believes you were a lot more ill than originally thought. I also promise not to say anything to anyone…”
“But you have to admit that this is suspicious right?” Giovanni asked and winced. “I wouldn’t fault you if-”
“I’m just happy that you’re alive and well as are Professor and Akari. We’re just worried something like this might happen again.”
“I’ve informed Cyllene that you’re ill and resting at the Diamond Camp,” Laventon said. “She’s given you some time off to recuperate, but first you’ll need to return and get lectured for allowing your body to get to such a state.”
What’s with him and getting lectures?! Giovanni sighed and nodded ready to fall asleep now more than ever. Laventon and Akari bid their farewells and quietly left, well, as quietly as a hiccuping Akari could be.
Now all that was left was him and Adaman, and it was very obvious that the man had more to say.
“...Sakaki,” he started and paused.
“What was it that you didn’t want Akari and Laventon to know?” Giovanni asked.
“...You were a corpse but…it wasn’t…your corpse.”
“...Excuse me?”
“I know it doesn’t make sense, but when I arrived you looked…different. Yet I knew it was you at the same time? All I know is once I got back with them, you were back to normal.”
A piercing pain struck through Giovanni’s head as he leaned forward grabbing his hair. Adaman panicked and quickly knelt in front of him, asking if he was alright over and over again.
“I’m…I’m fine I’m fine,” he finally managed to stammer out. “Adaman please…don’t tell anyone what you saw…please…I’ll take care of Lady Lilligant right away and-”
“I won’t tell anyone Sakaki,” Adaman said and held his face. “I…personally have my own idea of who you are and even if you’re not, I still think you’re a blessing. So don’t worry about that…I just want to make sure that you’re okay.”
“...I’m fine…thank you Adaman.”
“You’re welcome Sakaki…”
“Now please let go of my face.”
“Right this is awkward now isn’t it haha…”
“Adaman…”
“Letting go!”
()()()()
“That was a close one,” Arceus sighed as they watched Giovanni settled back to a peaceful sleep. “I need to keep a better eye on him, otherwise I’ll need to find another hero!”
They regretted just tossing the man into the first available body. If it was going to be this much trouble, they would’ve found one a little more closer to his original body type even if it took ages!
“...I need you to last at least a year Giovanni,” Arceus murmured. “Then the body will completely be yours…and then I’ll ‘introduce’ you to Rei…”

Journey Start
“Cheers to…what name did you choose?”
“Koki..”
“Ah yes, CHEERS TO KOKI! For being Arceus’ victim! We’re all thankful it’s you and not us!”
“You guys are assholes, I’m laying claim on all the good wine.”
“And also cheers to Mr. Cyrus for agreeing to go with Koki! Make sure you both eat your fill for your grand journey tomorrow!”
Cyrus flinched as he found his once empty plate stacked with food and his glass filled to the brim with wine. When Koki had asked him if he wanted to join the party before they began their trip, he had expected it to be a small gathering. Maybe with a few close relatives. Yet here he sat, surrounded by dozens of people all crowded into the dining hall. All were happily cheering and eating food while harassing Koki who had a permanent scowl on his face. They briefly made eye contact as his new travel companion gave him a weak wave before he downed another glass of wine. Cyrus quietly just started to pick at his meal, recalling how this whole…situation came to be.

()()()()
It all happened about a month ago. He had just finished what had to have been his fourth day in a row of overtime. By the time he had left his office it was already three in the morning and he was expected to come back four hours later. Did he have time to even eat something and rest or should he forgo food and just sleep for three hours? As he debated over his options, he heard someone shouting in the distance. Seriously, who was yelling this late in the night?
“Thou are the hero of destiny, set to seek out all pokemon and protect the region from destruction. I beseech you hero of destiny, take up the challenge and-”
“I REFUSE!”
“LET ME FINISH THIS SPEECH I WORKED VERY HARD ON IT!”
Cyrus entered the park he normally cut through to get home quicker, only to see a pair standing in the middle of the path. There was a rather tall man, trying to yank his hand back as the other figure held onto his wrist.
“CHOOSE ANOTHER HERO I’M NOT DOING IT!” The man shouted trying to get his hand back. “You are a TWIG why are you so strong!?”
“UGH! What’s with Sakaki’s lineage fighting tooth and nail being heroes!?” The other figure shouted. “Seriously so many to choose from and yet they all flee the moment they see me! Don’t you want to keep your region safe!?”
“Well maybe we’re sick and tired of you coming to us to save the region! Seriously you’re Arceus! You save it!”
“I can’t! I need someone to be a proxy and I know I’ll get good results with your lineage!”
“FIND A NEW VICTIM!”
Cyrus had assumed the two were just extremely drunk or something. After all Arceus was a mythical pokemon from legends, said to be the creator of all things or so the story goes. It certainly wouldn’t take a human form and demand someone to be a hero. He really just wanted to go home but he didn’t want to get in-between these two, what if he got dragged into the mess? Cyrus turned on his heel ready to take the long way home only to find the entrance blocked off by a black mist. The moment he stepped through it, he found himself back in the park disoriented and hearing the two bicker again. What on Earth!?
“Hey Blue Haired interloper!” The strange person shouted and snapped their fingers. “Come over here and listen!”
Just like that Cyrus found himself yanked over and fell before their feet. The man panicked seeing his presence and quickly helped him onto his feet, surprised to see him.
“H-how did you get in here?!” The man asked.
“It’s…the park…I walked in…,” Cyrus said exhausted. “This…this is a nightmare isn’t it? I haven’t slept well in ages so I’m used to this sort of thing…must’ve collapsed in front of the office again.”
“….That’s extremely worrying, let me take you to a bench first so you can rest a bit.”
Another finger snap and he found himself sitting on the bench next to the man. The person, should he start calling them Arceus? Stood before them, arms crossed and pouting rather fierce.
“Listen here blue haired interloper,” Arceus said and pointed at the man beside him. “Sinnoh is going to be destroyed if it doesn’t have a hero protecting it! Yet he! Keeps! Refusing! The! Hero’s! Call! Isn’t that highly irresponsible?! He should be like ‘yes Lord Arceus! I will do anything to appease you my liege! I will set off on the grand journey and make sure my home region is safe from all harm! Yet no! He wants nothing to do with it!”
“My entire family knows how much of a pain it is!” The man shouted and stood up. “Seriously! You bothered my family for like ten generations now! We’re sick of it! Why are you so surprised we don’t want to help out a selfish demon like you?!”
“GOD! EXCUSE YOU! Plus I’m not so selfish, I granted some family wishes haven’t I? After all, you wouldn’t have existed if I didn’t allow Sakaki a ‘miracle child’.”
“That wasn’t even you! It was Giratina! Also, stop calling them a ‘miracle child’ it’s been documented that they hated being called that! All you did was dragged Sakaki to this world! What blessings have you given us?!”
“Well I made Giratina so in extension, I made the miracle child. You’re welcome.”
“You are so infuriating!!”
“…I know this is a dream but can I go home?” Cyrus asked.
Arceus looked away pretending that they couldn’t hear that remark. Well he was starting to understand why the man was so upset with the legendary. Before he knew it he was swept off the seat and standing again, the legend now holding his hands tightly and resting their forehead against his. A smile broke across their face revealing surprisingly sharp teeth that looked like it could pierce skin with a single touch.
“You love Sinnoh don’t you?” Arceus asked. “Don’t you want to keep it safe? Don’t you think he’s being selfish not wanting to save his home?”
Their voice sounded sickly sweet but the words felt like poison the moment they entered his ears. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing could escape.
“Arceus!” The man shouted.
“Most people would find such a journey exciting don’t you think? After all…you get to travel across the region, new towns, new pokemon, new people! Yet he wants to pass it up!”
Travel across the region? Arceus wanted him to become a pokemon trainer? Cyrus found himself drifting in thought as the man started yelling at Arceus who was still refusing to let go.
When he was younger, he had dreamt of becoming a trainer like his friend Cynthia. However his parents forbade it, forcing him to stay inside and study instead. He had worked hard for hours on end confined to his cell like bedroom. Even when he escaped his home, he found himself too scared to proceed with his dream at such an age. Thinking it was too late to start so he chose in the end to work at some company in the same town he grew up in.
But on long nights like he just had, sitting alone in his cubicle toiling away the hours. The dream still popped into his mind ever so often, enticing him to drop everything and give it a shot.
…Wasn’t this dream a sign to finally give it a try?
“…Does…does it have to be him?” Cyrus had awkwardly asked.
“Excuse me?” Arceus asked, tilting their head.
“What if…someone else agrees to be the hero?”
“…Are you offering yourself then?”
“That’s exactly what I’m offering.”
He had never regretted his words so quickly before in his life as Arceus' grin somehow got wider. A malicious light seemed to spark in their eyes as they looked over at the man who had this horrified expression on his face.
“Did you hear that?” Arceus asked and brought Cyrus closer, holding his face between their hands. “This man here offered to take your place instead! Well I guess I have my new champion so I won’t ‘bother’ you anymore~!”
Their nails seemed to pierce into his skin and instantly he felt the blood drain from his body. If this was all a dream, he wouldn’t have felt anything, but the second the nails dug into his face a sharp pain shot through him. What had he done? What did he agree to!? As much as he hated his current life he wasn’t willing to sacrifice his life for change! Yet that’s what it felt like he agreed to! Cyrus opened his mouth to try to retract his words, only for the man to shout out instead.
“I’ll be your hero Arceus!” The man shouted and put a hand on his chest. “So let him go, he has nothing to do with this!”
“…Pfft,” Arceus started laughing and held their head. “Oooh boy! I should’ve just done this at the start! Your lineage always says ‘find another hero’ but the second I even hint of sending another person you lot are quick to jump in. Though normally it’s because I say I’ll ask a child or a love one, you did it for a complete stranger.”
Cyrus found himself let go and the man rushed over to him before he collapsed. He latched on, gasping for air desperately.
“Seek all pokemon hero,” Arceus chuckled. “And protect the region from that nuisance Volo.”
Just like that, Cyrus had blacked out.
—()()—
When he woke up, he found himself in an unfamiliar room. The memories of the encounter resurfaced as he quickly scrambled out of bed. He searched out desperately trying to find his phone only to find it on the bedside table and thankfully plugged in. As he picked up his phone, Cyrus instantly went pale seeing the dozens of missed calls from work and hundreds of messages. Some from coworkers earnestly asking if he was okay and most coming from his irate boss.
How was there this many already!? Cyrus quickly checked the time to see how late he was to cause such worry…and nearly dropped his phone in the process.
Three days, he was asleep for three days!
Cyrus hesitantly picked up his phone again and listened to the last voicemail his boss sent, already dreading what the easily aggravated man was going to say.
“DON’T BOTHER TO SHOW YOUR FACE HERE EVER AGAIN!” The man shouted. “YOU’RE FIRED!”
He felt his soul leave his body as he sat there in shock. How could this have even happened? How could one night cause him to pass out for three days!? There was a time where he worked for a month straight and he still hadn’t passed out for that long! Crap what was he going to do? His boss was a vindictive sort of man, he wouldn’t be surprised if he had gone around telling any company in the area about how a terrible worker he was. Would he ever get another job in the area?! What if his boss even told people outside of town!? He was going to end up jobless and broke in no time!
“…Your boss is a jerk by the way,” Cyrus heard a voice from behind. “I answered your phone once and tried to explain that you were unconscious and he told me to, and I quote ‘wake him up he’s just being a lazy bastard’.”
Cyrus turned around quickly and saw the mast from last night standing there. He looked pretty exhausted as he leaned against the doorway, looking like he was struggling to keep himself awake.
“…You look awful,” Cyrus said before covering his mouth.
“Haha don’t worry I know I do,” the man laughed and yawned. “There’s a lot of things I need to prepare before I go on my journey, tying loose ends and such so sleep hasn’t been the greatest. Plus I had an unconscious man on my bed and the couch isn’t that comfy you know.”
“Probably would’ve been more appropriate to take me to the hospital so that way you could sleep in your own bed.”
“Yes hello doctor, you see this man came in contact with Arceus and such an extended period of time with that demon has knocked them the fuck out. Yes I am one hundred percent sane.” The man gestured for Cyrus to follow. “Come on, I’ll make us some breakfast. Oh…and the names Koki by the way.”
“Cyrus…”
Surprisingly enough despite being asleep for three days, he didn’t feel all that hungry but was still more than happy to eat the meal Koki prepared. It had been years since he had something that wasn’t from a convenience store and everything Koki made was delicious and warm. From the miso soup to the rolled eggs and the fish. He didn’t even have to ask for seconds as Koki had quickly refilled his plates without comment.
“This is so good,” Cyrus sighed and took a sip from his tea. “Thank you for such a delicious meal.”
“You’re welcome,” Koki said and rubbed the back of his head. “…S…Sorry that you lost your job because of me.”
“And I’m sorry you’re forced to take this journey because of me.” Cyrus gripped the cup a little tighter. “The way you were so against it…even though it’s for the greater good I imagine such a journey isn’t pleasant.”
“…It’s not, it's extremely stressful. Yet, I can’t have someone else go through it in the end. My family knows how much of a pain being a hero is, and though we complain relentlessly about it, we would never truly want someone else to suffer through it. He would’ve gone after my cousins if I didn’t agree. So don’t worry about it. I am sorry about you losing your job. I have a lot of pull thanks to my family so I can definitely help you find a new one! One with better hours!”
Cyrus went quiet for a second as he thought about it. While it would be nice to get a job right away after this…he also was already extremely exhausted. He had spent his life working and it all came to an end because he accidentally met Arceus and Koki. Honestly, Cyrus wanted a break before going back to work. Some time to recuperate from all the torture he put his body through. Plus, in the end he owed Koki somewhat too.
“…I’m thankful for your offer,” Cyrus said and looked at Koki seriously. “I’ll take you up on it…after our journey is finished.”
“No problem I-” Koki instantly stood up. “OUR?!”
“You’re quite loud…”
“S-Sorry but! Cyrus! I know you offered that night but I saw that you immediately regretted it! You don’t have to join me! In fact, you can stay far away from me if you like!”
“Well I don’t…like the thought of the fate of the region on my shoulders…but it should be fine if we share the burden. Honestly saving a region should be in multiple people’s hands not just one lone person. Anyway we’ll just have to make do with two people.”
“But!”
“It’ll be nice working with you Koki.”
“I! I mean! It’s just!” Koki let out a long sigh as he sat back down. “…It’ll be nice working with you Cyrus.”
“Likewise.”
()()()()
“You drank too much Koki.”
“Sorry Cyrus…”
“Not my fault you’re going to start the adventure with a raging hangover.”
Cyrus helped Koki onto one of the futons and watched as the man instantly went to sleep. The party had finally calmed down, with many passing out in the dining room while others sluggishly made it to their rooms. Cyrus had skipped drinking knowing that he’d regret it in the morning, and got to watch the family devolve into chaos.
Still, he glanced over at the corner of the room to see all the gifts they received. Two backpacks, already filled with potions, pokeballs, camping supplies, and other necessities. They both also received money before the dinner, totalling to sixteen thousand between the two of them.
In the end, they were probably worried about their journey despite their comments.
“Ah did Koki already fall asleep?”
He looked up to see Ayako, Koki’s mother, standing there at the entrance, a smile on her face as she waved him over. Cyrus took one glance at Koki before following her out.
She ended up taking him to a separate room, secured by a thick lock and chain. With a single tap, the chains came undone and she opened the door. He didn’t dare follow her inside and she didn’t call for him either. Instead Cyrus just waited as he heard her swearing from the inside, items crashing and clanging about. After another loud crash, which he’s surprised didn’t wake anyone, Ayako left the room and handed over a stack of journals. Despite being in a room that looked to be filled with old items, the journals looked hardly touched by time. Almost appearing brand new.
“It’s probably hard to believe but this used to belong to our ancestor Sakaki,” Ayako said with a smile. “He was the first hero for Arceus.”
“The man from another world right?” Cyrus asked, flipping through the pages of the first journal. “Koki mentioned a little bit about him, apparently he committed some sins in another world and had to redeem himself in this?”
“…Thank you for just accepting our crazy family backstory! Makes things a lot easier to deal with.”
“Accepting is a strong word, forced to believe after meeting Arceus is more accurate.”
“Hah! I suppose that’s fair. But yes, Sakaki wasn’t a good man and committed a lot of crimes in his world. He even had poor intentions at the beginning, but as time went on he ended up loving this region and would do anything to protect it. We bring his journals when one of us goes on a heroic journey like you two are. Though I ended up taking it with me on my journey. It’s something about reading his tale…that gives us a reason to remember as much as we hate Arceus…we do love Sinnoh. So we want to protect it even if it’s hard.”
“…I’ll make sure Koki reads it.”
“Oh he’s read it a thousand times, he’ll probably read it again when he realizes you have it. You’re allowed to read it too Cyrus, I’m sure you’ll find it insightful like our family has.”
Cyrus nodded and held the journals closed to his chest. Ayako walked him back to his room and bowed one more time.
“Thank you for going with him,” she said. “It’s going to be a tough journey…but I’m sure you’ll find some blessings as well.”
“I’m sure I will,” Cyrus said.
With that, Ayako turned and left, leaving Cyrus alone with the journals. He walked into the room, put the journals away, and settled in for bed.
“Cyrus, are you okay? Did you get enough sleep?”
“Why is it that the man who should be hung over, is doing just fine?”
“My family has strong livers.”
“…From dealing with Arceus?”
“Y-yeah…”
“…Well come on, we promised to meet Professor Rowan at the lake.”
“Yep, onward march!”

Giovanni’s "redemption”
Alright, so should be obvious but it was definitely not an instant ‘redemption’ for this asshole. In fact, being forced into what he originally assume was simply the past? Actually just fueled his drive all the more.
Fine GOD, you’re going to toss me in this world as punishment? Well I’ll just take over this world instead.
Now even he had to admit, he had nothing in his arsenal anymore. No Pokemon, No Team Rocket, and no money. A sudden take over wouldn’t be possible without some sort of a group. Which is why he gladly took on the test Cyllene presented him. What he needed to do was secure a place to stay, once that was in the bag he would slowly worm his way up the rankings.
The higher the position, the more his words will have weight to those around him. Eventually he’ll be able to form Hisui to what he desired, birthing a new Team Rocket and taking over a region just before it flourished.
What he didn’t expect? Was how DIFFICULT it will be living in the past.
Unsurprisingly of course, no one trusts him, like at all. This man fell from the sky, wearing strange clothes, and has a strange device. Clearly this man is a witch! While he anticipated them to be a little wary, he didn’t expect them to literally turn the other way or scurry off the moment he said hi. Or in Beni’s case, pretend he wasn’t there unless another member of team Galaxy was present.
He tried to prove that he’ll be a useful field researcher after that. After all, if he shows how great he is at catching and taming pokemon, clearly they’ll grow to trust him! Well he nearly gets his ribs broken after trying to take on the Alpha Rapidash. When he tries to go simple, he finds out very quickly that a thunder shock from a Shinx?  Yeah, not fun! In fact! Extremely painful!
If he wasn’t struggling with pokemon? His own body was betraying him. He had assumed Arceus had just made him younger? But he realized he was also taller, so he would end up overshooting his rolls just by a fraction, or even throwing a pokeball a little too high or low. He also learned after multiple attempts, he can’t swim! He swore up and down he knew how to swim before but now anytime he tried he practically sank like a rock!
Needless to say, evil plotting got pushed to the back burner in favor of actually surviving. Sure he would eventually get used to his environment, but it’s hard to really plot when you’re always out in the field, doing request after request, or dealing with Akari who wanted to spend the day off together. But the feeling was still there.
But then, he actually started to care a fair bit of the residents of Jubilife village as well as both the Diamond and Pearl Clans. Akari at first very annoying, became quite endearing. Learning about her family situation also made him protective over her even if he denies it. He also started to enjoy talking about pokemon with Laventon, especially when it came to ground types where he could gladly talk the professor’s ears off. But the biggest change came from Ingo, as the only other ‘man from the future’, he ended up growing very attached to this man. To the point he wanted to earnestly help him  regain his memories.
He still wanted to latch on the plan of taking over Hisui, and even tried to come up with plans to keep his companions satisfied. Such as giving them higher roles, or making sure they were treated like royalty. He’ll still be a ruler, but they would get all the benefits just the same.
Then came the big exile. The final nail in the coffin. He was devastated as he stood there at the entrance of Obsidian Fieldlands. Every ounce of him wanted to scream and shout at Kamado, at the villagers, after all the hard work he’s done they were just going to toss him aside like that? He had did nothing wrong! He had never lied to them!
…but he did lie. Since the very beginning. What Kamado said wasn’t wrong, he had lied who he was and his history. As much as it pissed him off? Kamado had every right to not believe him, because he plotted to take over Hisui before.
During his exile, he tried to continue his plan, even if Team Galaxy no longer believed in him? Both Pearl and Diamond clan believed in him. What if he somehow got them to join forces? Two clans versus one Team? Clearly they’d be on the winning side!
Yet…it could lead to Akari, Laventon, Cyllene, or Ingo getting hurt. As much as he wanted to say he didn’t care anymore, that he got abandoned so why should it matter? He couldn’t dare bring himself to hurt the people he started to cherish. It made him feel weak, soft, that he was just a shell of his former self. He started to think about how he needed to get back to his former glory, when Ingo finds him a week into his exile.
Ingo explains that he too has been exiled from not only Team Galaxy, but the Pearl Clan. After all, he was a stranger who appeared out of no where as well. Their trust in him had completely dwindled and they wanted to get rid of another ‘outsider’. Irida only banished him so that Giovanni could have an ally. Giovanni starts yelling saying how unfair it was, that Ingo didn’t deserve it because unlike him? He wasn’t a criminal before he came to Hisui.
Giovanni ends up spilling everything he’s done in his previous world, why he was there in the first place, and every sin he committed. How Ingo was a subway boss and that at worse, he had some questionable decisions turning a subway into a battle zone. By the time he ran out of breath explaining all of his crimes, Ingo was just standing there. Indifferent.
“…I remember that Giovanni, I actually recalled him back after you quelled the Lord Voltorb. But in the end, Giovanni never came to Hisui, only Sakaki.”
He called him very corny and stupid for saying such a thing. That he was planning on conquering Hisui even to this point. Also he wasn’t crying, it was just raining only over him that’s why his face was so damp.
With Ingo by his side now however, his exile was a little bit easier. Sure they couldn’t go to the Pearl Clan for assistance still, but it was better roughing it outside with two people rather than one.
Giovanni now was plotting on fixing the rift once and for all. So he and Ingo started planning on how to proceed to fix the rifts by the time Volo had came around. The rest of Legends Arceus continues to take place after that. Find the three spirits, red chains, Giovanni captures Dialga, they create the origin ball, and then capture Palkia.
Now he has two legendaries at his disposal and, surprisingly enough, had nothing more planned than to finish their dex entries and keep them around. After all, he needed to complete the pokedex still, now a lot easier since he’s allowed back to the village. Plus, once that’s done maybe he could give them to Adaman and Irida. They were their Lord Sinnoh’s after all, but both seemed to be against the idea when he brought it up.
He’ll figure out what to do with that later he supposed. There was a lot to do in Hisui, and he had to get cracking.

So...additional Platinum Clan members time!
Outside of Ingo and Giovanni, there is now dun dun dun~
Emmet and Fleur with Emmet becoming the leader of it alongside his brother. Fleur has his own outfit he designed himself because of course he would.
Akari because she is little sister, of course she has to join or else she’ll tell Cyllene. (In seriousness, they asked if she wanted to join and of course she said yes).
Adaman and Irida, both join in for the pokemon battles and the picnic lunches with the legendaries. Dialga and Palkia both like to talk through them during these picnics. “Lord Palkia said that Lord Dialga needs to stop hogging the poffins” “Lord Dialga said that Lord Palkia should mind their own business.” “Giratina says both of them should shut up and eat.”
Additional members, Melli, Mai, Gaeric, and Lian.
It’s still mostly ‘Fight Club with Snacks’

Thanks to Giovanni’s meddling in Hisui, all the way down the road it did lead to a different Cyrus. One who is…well still kinda depressed but at least he doesn’t want to create a soulless world.
Instead, he was a regular office worker working in a less than ideal company. With excessively long hours and angry bosses. Eventually he gets sick of the whole thing, the only reason why he chose such a job was because that’s what his parents wanted. He ends up finding an out when he meets Koki.
Koki meanwhile is the descendant of Giovanni. His family has been ‘serving’ Arceus for generations. And by serving? I mean they try to delay becoming a pokemon trainer as long as possible because they don’t want Arceus banging on their door demanding they do this and that for them. After two generations of peace, Koki thought he was safe only for Arceus to call him and go “yeah something’s bad is going to happen so be a trainer for me. If you don’t Sinnoh is screwed, kay thanks bye~!”
In the end they both start traveling together. Cyrus happy to have a traveling companion who at least has a better idea of ‘roughing it’. Meanwhile Koki is happy to have a friend to join him in the bullshit that’s going to happen.

I want to flesh out my au!
Draws this instead

Stupid question but in your pla with giovanni au your drawing a lot of your platinum clan leader ingo (which love by the way) lately and just wondering for the ingo that has switched who he is worshiping is he still part of the pearl clan or are he and giovanni actually a whole new clan now?
I just really like drawing the outfit is the main reason
THAT SAID!
Ingo is still part of the Pearl Clan officially and Giovanni is still part of the Galaxy Team. Neither treat the Platinum Clan as a serious clan, more like a club or activity they have when they're 'off the clock' so to speak. I imagine when he's at the training grounds or during a pearl clan meeting he'll wear the original pearl attire instead.
Giovanni's the only one who wears the platinum outfit consistently because he's still mad at Kamado for the exile.
Most of their 'clan meetings' involve talking about pokemon battles, having pokemon battles, eating potato mochi, and simply hanging out with Giratina.
Not really a 'lets worship the all mighty Sinnoh of Antimatter'.
Fun Fact: The necklace he's wearing was actually a gift from Irida. As a "Congrats on becoming a clan leader!' She had it made after he mentioned that he and Giovanni formed their own clan.

PLA: Giovanni’s Tales and what’s actually concrete
The body isn’t his but Rei’s.
He goes by Sakaki as a cover name but now he just prefers it
Ingo is the only one he’ll call acquaintance (not friend ‘acquaintance’)
They’re friends idk who he’s trying to fool
He’s always ready to deck Melli in the face *friendly*
He’s always ready to deck Arceus in the face *hostile*
Platinum Clan exists though it’s not remotely serious.
Akari became like a little sister to him even if didn’t want that
Things I want to flesh out
Giovanni’s first moments to Hisui and how he had...less than good intentions regarding it.
Platinum Clan actually getting somewhat serious and becoming a legitimate clan
Giovanni during his time in exile
Rather than just a day alone it was a solid month before Volo found him.
His time back from Exile and how he feels about the residents of Jubilife Village and especially Kamado.
Giovanni’s plans after the pokedex is completed
I have a few ideas for his next ‘career’ with one of them being a professor.
Ingo and Emmet meeting up again, plus the decision of whether they stay in Hisui/Sinnoh or go to Kalos
Akari’s reaction when he does eventually tell her what happened to her brother.
There’s a lot more I want to solidify but these are the top ones that came to mind right away.

Question!
Would anyone be interested in asking Giovanni and the PLA: Giovanni’s Tale Crew questions? Emmet will also be fair game since he’s technically a part of it, just currently in Kalos.

Not remotely seriously, but if a hypothetical if Giovanni and Silver met whether it’s in Hisui or the old world…and Giovanni was still his the Rei body?
Silver would absolutely DECK him in the face.

Alright here’s all the Team Bosses in Koki’s world. Because of Giovanni’s journals, his descendants were quick to make sure that these bosses didn’t become well…evil. In hopes to stop any world destroying problems. So Koki’s family did sometimes butt into people’s lives and sorta nudged them in the right direction.
How much Koki’s family interfere does range a bit…from ‘Did practically nothing’ to ‘they are literally part of our family’
