Number 3 of my Junimation countdown: Noah's Island

This series was created by Elphin Lloyd-Jones, who was also involved with The Animals Of Farthing Wood. But this show is a bit more light-hearted in its storytelling. It ran for 3 seasons with a total of 39 episodes between the 29th of September 1997 and the 21st of December 1999.

The story is about a bunch of animals who have gathered on a moving island powered by lava that is captained by a polar bear named Noah. Their goal was to find a hidden island called Diamantina where they could live in peace, while learning how to live as a community. Along the way they gather other animals, but danger is always lurking. Even death is a possible character ending.

Sasha's "Oiski Poiski" is a catchphrase that still regularly comes to mind in situations. Some animals like Reg the baboon and Rocco the gorilla had some great character arcs. And just the idea of exploring the world with an entire island at your command was such an awesome thought to me as a kid, I was regularly trying to reenact that with my toys.

They came to me in quite the rough shape (filthy as all hell and the smell.... OH THE SMELL), but they are perfectly fine now!

Oisky Boyskin (named after my older sisters favourite show (Oisky Poisky) as a small child), is my first newer furby, and he works, too! Sadly the high pitched beeping gives me a headache and terrifies my cat, so he won't be turned on often. Plus he refuses to develop any other personality than the nasty boy personality which is, well, NASTY

Weed Biscuit (name is a WIP, so I'm more than open for suggestions) is my second 1998 Furby. She is currently missing her accessories (and her bag but you can see that in the next photo), since I haven't found the time to continue working on her. I am still contemplating giving her eyelashed since she came without them.

Day 12- Yangshuo - Chengdu (or almost)

The saga continues. We are awoken by Mulan who tells us we can drive to Guilin as the highway is reopened! Hooray! From Guilin we can get a flight to Chongqin and from there it's just a short 2 hour train journey to Chengdu. With any luck we will be in Chengdu by this evening, in time to see the pandas tomorrow. Slight hiccup, our laundry still hasn't made it back. Most of us have most of our clothes in there. Turns out the laundrette has been flooded so we didn't know if we would be getting back clean clothes, unwashed clothes or completely ruined clothes, if any clothes make it back at all. Sally's boyfriend set off on a bamboo boat to the laundrette whilst we packed and, somewhere in China, the Dragon Trip managers booked our flight. At 10am Sally's boyfriend returned with cleaned and dried laundry. It was like Christmas Day people were so happy to be reunited with their clothes! Except mine, which has not made it back from the laundrette along with everyone's shoes... uh-oh. Sally's poor boyfriend sets off back to the laundrette again. It's at this point that Sally tells me that they had bought back all the laundry that was upstairs but perhaps mine had been left downstairs... where the flood was. Panic begins to set in. A little while later, after some deep breathing on my part, telling myself 'they're just clothes', trying to figure out how I was going to find the money to fund the half of the flight the Dragon Trip wasn't going to pay for and a whole new set of clothes in one go, Sally's boyfriend returned to rapturous applause with my laundry and everyone's shoes. Not only was it returned to us, but everything was clean and dry!! So, off we go, spirits high once more. We get to the airport in plenty of time, check in and say an emotional goodbye to the wonderful Mulan who had looked after us so brilliantly. 4pm: (you know stuff is going to go wrong when I start putting the time first). The flight is delayed but only by half an hour, not bad really. 4.30pm: ... ok, another hour delay. 5pm: Spoke to Kid, our next guide in Chengdu, he says the flight will leave at 6.30pm. 6.15pm: 6.30 flight my arse. 7pm: Rachel has just spoken to the staff, they have said that the flight may not leave till morning! Spoke to Kid again, they have been told by the airport that the flight will leave at 8pm... Not sure who to believe here. 7.15pm: They are handing out free meals to our flight... this is not promising. 7.45pm: Holy Moley we are actually boarding!! 8pm: Sat on the plane, seat belt on, cabin crew checks are done, safety speech had been made we must be off. WRONG! Announcement comes on in Mandarin and the whole plane groans... this can't be good... 8.05pm: Announcement is repeated in English, we are delayed again on the tarmac. On the plus side, I am sat next to a lovely Chinese woman and her 11 year old son who are very friendly. The mum speaks a little English and is translating for the boy. It's so cute! The little boy asked me if we could be friends and took a selfie of us! Then asked if I had a boyfriend. Adorable. 8.15pm: Now his mum has said she will set me up with a nice Chinese boy, although I fear it may be a bit too long distance to which her response is 'I will get you a team of boyfriends!' Sounds like a lot of work... 8.30pm: The boy can read English pretty well and has asked if I will teach him a English over email, I said only if he teaches me Mandarin. I think I have a new pen pal. 8.40pm: TAKE OFF!!! 8.45pm: The mum said she was going to sleep, I said me too and she offered me her neck pillow. Why isn't everyone this nice?! 10pm: How is it that we are delayed for 4 hours for a flight that is only 1 hour?! Ah well, we are about to land in Chongqing. Although, we are landing too late to get the train so just another 4 hour bus to Chengdu. 11.30m: Got our luggage, found Kid and get on the bus. We then get a message from the Dragon Trip managers. The law in China says tourist buses can't travel on the highway past 2am. So we have to stay in Chongqing tonight. Oiskie Poiskie!! 1am: Finally settled in the Hostel. I've somehow drawn the short straw and ended up in a room with all the boys (kidding boys, love you really). I think everyone is so shattered we may all crash straight away. What a dramatic 2 days!! All we can do now is pray to the Gods that we can make it to Chengdu tomorrow... but no one wants to tempt fate.
