Deputy Chairman Fred Hampton was the one of THE greatest orators, leaders, and visionaries to join the Black Panther Party Of Self-Defense 🖤✊🏾

Fred Hampton was born & raised in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois. Civil liberties, rights, and laws were always of great interest to him. After graduating high school, he enrolled in a pre-law program at Triton Junior College in River Grove, Illinois. He joined his local NAACP branch to get involved in the civil rights movement. He rose to the position of Youth Council President for his strong leadership and organization skills. In this position, Brother Hampton mobilized a racially diverse group of 500 young men/women who successfully lobbied city officials to create better academic services and recreational facilities for Black American youth.

In 1968, he joined the Black Panther Party of Self-Defense, headquartered in Oakland, CA. Shortly thereafter, he was selected to head the Chicago Chapter. Here, he created strong personal and political ties with his mentor & chaplain, Father George Clements at the [then] Holy Angels Catholic Church; which served as a safe haven for the Panthers targeted for police surveillance or harassment.

Brother Hampton accomplished a great many things as a young, prolific leader of the BPP Chicago Chapter. He successfully negotiated a gang truce on live television.One of his greatest successes was an unprecedentedly integrated approach to sociopolitical unity; he formed a “Rainbow Coalition”, which included: the Students for a Democratic Society, the Blackstone Rangers, a street gang and the National Young Lords, a local Puerto Rican organization. He was the first leading Panther to achieve this. This alliance is what truly struck the cord of fear in the Chicago P.D. & the FBI. In an effort to neutralize the Chicago Chapter of the BPP, the Black Panthers were placed under heavy surveillance & were subjected to several harassment campaigns.

By 1969, several Black Panthers and Chicago cops either suffered injury or were killed in shootouts across the city, which resulted in the arrest of over 100 members. On Dec 4th of that same year, under the FBI's initiative, the County PD & Chicago PD conducted heinous, unlawful, and unnecessary raid on the Black Panther Party's HQ in the early morning hours while Brother Hampton, leader Mark Clark, and other Panthers slept. They fired over 100 rounds into the apartment without warning. Twelve officers executed Brother Hampton as he slept, drugged by a sedative slipped into his drink by "Panther"/FBI informant O'Neal. Naturally, in Jan 1970, the County Coroner's office ruled the Black Panther leaders' deaths as "justifiable homicide".

Over 5,000 souls attended Brother Hampton’s funeral. Many civil rights activates eulogized him, including his good friend and mentor Father George, who also held a Requem Mass for him at his church.

After many years of coverups, internal investigations, lawsuits, raids, and conspiracies confirmed, the FBI, County PD, & Chicago PD finally admitted to the wrongful deaths of Brother Hampton and Mark Clark. In 1990, and again in 2004, the Chicago City Council passed resolutions commemorating December 4th as Fred Hampton Day. Today, Brother Hampton rests at the Bethel Cemetery in Haynesville, LA where his parents are from - which continues to endure violent desecration from White Supremacist vigilantes/supporters.

I am a widower before that my wife had what was called rst reflex sympathetic dystrophy caused by primary injury which had the calf still the size of an Oakland and the foot size of an elephant and was very very painful.

After 2 months for finally accepted into the pain clinic at UCSF. You must remember this is before the DEA and their little bean counters who had no knowledge of what pain control was interfering in a position patient relationship.

Must have no idea what it takes to have pain control specialist in front of your name well after you get through with your residency you can choose a specialty and go for a couple of three four years more then if you want to have pain control specialists you go another two years that's almost 1:30 of your lifetime.

A while back when the DEA was being aggressive you had hospice people trying to relieve pain caused by terminal cancer these people rat end of life for crying out loud and the DEA said you're harming them they might die. Say what? No they're controlling their pain until the end of life.

Now you have over aggressive bureaucrats in the DEA going into a doctor's office who are trained to treat pain.

Doctors are so afraid to treat me now that it's almost as if the DEA wants to torture patients.

Go to any hospital you wish to go to except in the south Florida Louisiana Alabama Texas stay out of those hospitals they're worthless.

But go to some of the other hospitals they got what's called the hospitals a hospitalist is a person who is hired to run the hospital she is a physician she has a staff of doctors that she consults with that there's a pain protocol it's put into place what is your pain level between what it attend our doctor is innate well let's see if we can't get you something for pain it is a measured dose it is in the hospital.

Now take that same patience who has been discharge from the hospital Chris had a successful outcome with the pain medication. Good luck doctors are scared to death of three little initials DEA.

You better hope to God that your loved one does not have extreme pain problems that are going to require drug intervention. They will suffer and there's not one damn thing you can do.

Oh your wife has debilitating pain problem that is not allowing her to lead an independent life? Good luck.

Your grandmother is in hospice for end of life suffering from debilitating pain of cancer? And the DEA stepped in and said you're killing her. No they are controlling her pain with a team of experts and oncology, gerontology and pain control along with nurses who are trained in skilled with the aging population of end of life.

It takes a lot of courage to be a hospice of nurse. A d e a agent would last 2 minutes as a hospice nurse.

So what can be done? First of all put pressure on the DEA. Write letters and then write some more letters. Burn up the internet with emails.

Connect with your congressman if they won't help then primary him out or her out of office simple as that if they won't help you then gets a lot of office and find someone who will.

If you are an attorney or an attorney attached to a law firm and have skills and assisting doctors to take back their legal right to treat their patients as they were trained to do as a pain control specialist then by all means new pro bono work.

If someone dies while the DEA took away medication that was assisting this person and has suspended the doctor's license then sue for negligent homicide or practicing medicine without a license. In other words you become the defacto pain control specialist of the DEA knowing the patient better than the physician test.

Make it so painful they scream in pain make it so painful they turned away from this.

Why is this important? Because one of these days you may or may not be hit what's the pain so excruciating you would rather die because that pain will drive you completely insane. And for sure one of these days you will end up in hospice maybe not with incurable cancer maybe with some other painful malady that requires the intervention of a pain control specialist, a gerontologist a hospice nurse.

Be proactive do not let the DEA subvert your care.

Second Patient Dies After DEA’s Suspension of Doctor’s License

A second chronic pain patient has died as a result of the DEA’s suspension of a California doctor’s license to prescribe opioids and other controlled substances. 42-year Jessica Fujimaki died Saturday, December 10th at her home in Arizona, apparently due to complications caused by opioid withdrawal.

Jessica lived with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), arachnoiditis, stenosis and other chronic conditions that cause severe, intractable pain and left her bedridden. In the past year, she found relief through injections of the opioid hydromorphone every two hours, which allowed her to walk, have some quality of life, and take care of her husband and two children.

That came crashing to an end in early November, when she learned from her pain specialist, Dr. David Bockoff, that his license to prescribe opioids and other controlled substances had been suspended by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

“She was frightened, because she knew what was going to happen to her if she didn’t have that medication,” said Tad Fujimaki. “There’s no way she could live without it.”

The Fujimakis were unable to find another doctor in Arizona willing to treat Jessica, and her health steadily deteriorated as opioid withdrawal set in. In desperation, they made two trips to Mexico to purchase oral opioids there, but were uncertain of the quality of medications they received.

A last-minute prescription for injectable hydromorphone from an out-of-state doctor failed to stop her cascading health problems. Her exact cause of death has yet to be determined, pending an autopsy.

Had the treatment that Jessica received from Dr. Bockoff continued, Tad believes his wife would still be alive today. He blames the DEA for her death.

“Absolutely. DEA, government, all of them. If they didn’t stop the medication, if Jessica was still getting medication from Dr. Bockoff, this would have never happened,” he told PNN.

Like many patients with EDS, Jessica wasn’t diagnosed with the genetic connective tissue disease until well into adulthood. In 2020, when the Fujimakis lived in Hawaii, she had an epidural steroid injection for leg pain that made her condition far worse. Seeking better treatment, the family moved to the mainland.

“The one mistake we made was to move to Arizona,” said Tad, explaining they could find no doctors to treat Jessica near their Phoenix home.

“Because she was too complicated a patient. They knew they can’t prescribe hydromorphone,” he said. “If we knew the state of Arizona was an anti-opioid state, then we probably wouldn’t have moved from Hawaii to Arizona. We’d have picked a different state.”

Like many other “opioid refugees” on high doses, Jessica searched for doctors out-of-state, eventually finding Bockoff, who has practiced medicine for over 50 years in California without any record of disciplinary action or complaints.

“I have no comment. A very unfortunate tragedy,” Bockoff replied in an email when asked about Jessica’s death.

THE FUJIMAKI FAMILY

Another Bockoff patient who lived with intractable pain ran out of medication and died one week after the license suspension. Danny Elliott and his wife Gretchen were so distraught over his inability to find another doctor and get opioid treatment that they committed suicide in their Georgia home.

‘Imminent Danger to Public Health’

Why the DEA suspended Bockoff’s license is still not entirely clear. DEA agents searched his office in September, 2021 and confiscated the medical records of 240 patients, which they later returned.

Although a DEA notice of the suspension – signed by DEA administrator Anne Milgram -- states that Bockoff posed “an imminent danger to the public health,” his license was not suspended until 14 months after the initial search, when he was accused of violating the Controlled Substances Act when treating five patients.

Those allegations primarily deal with improper record-keeping and prescribing high doses of opioids that could potentially be diverted or abused. But there is no indication that any harm was caused to the five patients while under Dr. Bockoff’s care, or that they sold or abused the opioids he prescribed.

While Bockoff appeals his suspension, 11 of his patients have hired a lawyer and tried – unsuccessfully so far -- to sign on as intervenors, so they could participate in DEA hearings on the case. One of them was Jessica Fujimaki.

“With the suspension of Dr. Bockoffs license, I am left without care again. It took over a year to find the protocol that work for me and allowed me to have some quality of life,” Jessica wrote in a statement to the DEA.

“I was very fortunate to find Dr. David Bockoff, who accepted me as his patient and has been able to treat me in accordance with the treatment protocol that works for me. This treatment protocol changed my life and gave me hope,” she wrote. “I am able to walk most days unless I am in a huge flare. Without Dr. Bockoff's care and prescribed medication, I would be bedbound, unable to walk, unable to function, and certainly unable to care for my children.”

A DEA Administrative Law Judge declined to let Jessica and the other patients participate in a pretrial conference on November 28, but has not officially rejected or approved their motion to intervene in future hearings. The patients are considering other legal avenues.

Whatever happens, it’s not likely to happen in time to prevent future tragedies. Under DEA rules, doctors have 30 days to appeal their license suspensions. Legal experts say the process can then take months or years to resolve – too long for patients like Jessica and Danny Elliott, who suffered needlessly and didn’t have time to wait.

Reposted from @dixiehensrud Reposted from @boz_45 Lawyers representing Wells Fargo Bank refused to consent to the jurisdiction of a Black female U.S. District Court judge to preside over a class-action racial discrimination lawsuit. “In a case that is clearly about race and discriminatory practices rooted in the color of a person’s skin, the irony was not lost on us that Wells Fargo would summarily reject the only African American female magistrate in the Northern District of California to hear this case,” Trent Copeland, a partner at Ellis George Cipollone, the law firm representing the plaintiffs, told BLACK ENTERPRISE.And so coming on the heels of the historic appointment of the first Black Supreme Court Justice, it seemed to be another insult to an already significant injury that our client and similarly situated plaintiffs feel.” Earlier this week, the bank filed an objection to Magistrate Judge Kandis Westmore, the only Black female judge currently sitting on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, to preside over the case. Westmore has been a magistrate judge for a decade and served for 13 years as the deputy city attorney for Oakland. The case has been reassigned to Judge Jacqueline S. Corley in the San Francisco Division.The class-action suit was filed by Aaron Braxton in March 2020, alleging Wells Fargo systematically discriminated against Black homeowners in its evaluation of refinancing applications. A Bloomberg News investigation backs up the claim, finding that the bank approved Black homeowners seeking to refinance mortgages during the pandemic at a much lower rate (47%) than white homeowners (72%).
