*Warning 5.4 Spoilers beneath the cut specifically references to Eden Raid Questline.*
Tumblr media
Ardbert stared out at the remnants of Eden now twined with the massive tree over the verdant landscape that was now the restored portion of the empty with anguish in his breast.
Their battle to free Gaia from Mortin had confirmed his worst fears.  He had been directly responsible for the Flood, for the destruction of his people, for the torment that poor man had suffered.
Gentle arms wrapped around his waist from behind and he felt Aylis pressed against him murmuring, "What's done is done Ardbert, you can't change the past."
Turning he grabbed her into a tight hug burying his face in her auburn hair, "I know I just....wonder if it had been different, if I had been the one and it had been you....would I have done the same?"
Aylis pulled back looking him square in the eye her green eyes intense, "No, you would have respected what I wanted.  He was only concerned with his wants, what he'd lost.  He went too far Ardbert.  That he loved her I do not deny but he only thought of himself not her."
Gently he pulled her back to himself, "True," he whispered once again just hugging her tightly.
"Please tell me the two of you aren’t about to get sappy," Gaia stated as she strode up to them
Suddenly the all too familiar roar filled both of their ears and their heads and hearts began to pound as their vision whited out into an Echo vision.
They found themselves standing on a balcony overlooking the gleaming spires of Amaurot.  From behind they heard a voice state, "Tell me you two aren't about to get sappy, we haven't the time Azem, the Convocation in reconvening and  Emet-Selch has sent me to fetch you."
Aylis turned to see an Amarotine standing before her red mask marking her as Loghrif.   Shaking her head she stated, "Tell them to convene without me, I will have no part in what is to come."
Loghrif's pale blue eyes widened in shock and she stuttered, "Surely you jest...now of all times we need to be united,"
Aylis just looked her in the eye sorrow and rage filling them, "I refuse to be part of this Summoning.  I will not bring about the 'sacrifices' needed for this."
"Azem, its a matter of survival...." Loghrif started.
"So Emet-Selch made clear to me earlier this morning!" she snapped back, "But after what I saw happen in the Akadaemia  Andyer, what it cost for this concept...no, I refuse to support it."
"Surely you take comfort in knowing Elidibus will be its heart..."
Aylis found herself shaking in an effort to contain her anger.   From behind she felt Ardbert lay a comforting hand on her arm. Taking a breath she said softly, "No, I do not.  I think it is cruel that we would ask one so young to make such a choice."
Lorgrif stared at her baffled not understanding why she was so set against this, "We do what me must Azem to save Amarout."
Aylis gave a bitter laugh then, "Aye its always foremost about Amaurot isn’t it when it comes to the Convocation's decisions."
Then shaking herself she removed her mask handing it to Lorgrif, "Give this to Elidibus, tell him I resign my seat.  I am Azem no longer, just Persephone."
"We will relay it," Mitron's voice sounded coldly from behind Logrif as he strode up to see what was taking so long, "Come Gaia the Convocation awaits."
The pair left and Aylis found herself still shaking taking several deep breaths to calm herself.  At her side, she felt Ardbert's comforting presence and she turned hugging him tightly.
"Come what may Persephone we will find the way to save this star.  I stand with you as do the others even if you no longer sit the seat of Azem." he whispered softly in her ear.
Smiling she looked up at him stating, "I know Aether, you've always been there when I needed you."  She then sobered stating, “Gather the others, except the twins they need to rest.  Let us see what we can do to save our star.”
Once again their vision whited out and they found themselves staring at Gaia who had her eyebrow raised.
"Again Gaia its an echo vision," Ryne stated from beside her, "There is nothing wrong with them."
Both Ardbert and Aylis shook themselves giving a reassuring smile to Gaia and she snorted, "Not like I was worried, I was just wondering how long it would take is all."
Aylis smirked and Ardbert chuckled, "Not long typically sorry for the wait."
Gaia shrugged, "Well lets be off then we have quite a few malms to cover if we're going to make it to Mord Souq before nightfall."
With that she strode off toward the skipper and climbed into the pilot seat. Ryne looked at the two of them concern filling her pale eyes, "Is it something we should?"
Ardbert gave a laugh and ruffled her hair stating, "Naw it was nothing more than a vision of our own past for once."
Looking up at him she also glanced over at Aylis who just nodded stating, "Its all right Ryne really, like he said was just something from our past nothing to worry over."
Reassured she simply nodded in understanding then went to join Gaia stating, "I wouldn't wait too much longer she might leave without you."
Both gave an amused chuckle then they followed taking comfort in what was just revealed.  Somehow they had always been tied as they are now.  The shared bond felt as strong within the vision as it did now.  So it wasn't anything new for them.  While the vision left so many unanswered questions it was still nice to know that something had remained from those days.
The how or why of it mattered little they had each other and that meant more to them then they could ever express.
Ardbert looked back once more at the tree entwined Eden.  He still felt pangs of guilt concerning it all but he knew Aylis was right, he couldn't change the past but he could help ensure this future they started would flourish.
Aylis grabbed his hand as they reached the skipper and he just gave it a squeeze.  One thing he was absolutely certain of, he would never allow himself to go the way Mitron had with Gaia.  He would always make sure to respect her desires and he knew she would his as well.
That’s the difference between us and what they were. he thought to himself as the skipper launched off Gaia expertly piloting it back toward the unchanged portions of the empty, He felt he always had to protect her that he had to be stronger, I know full well that our greatest strength is together.
Armed with that knowledge he simply smiled once again squeezing Aylis’s hand. The Midlander simply glanced up at him and returned the smile before turning as Ryne asked her something.

Prompt-Where the Heart is
Other Than Home
Tumblr media
Aylis had always heard the phrase home is where the heart is.  However that had never been the case for her.  The Hyur's entire life she had longed to leave Clove behind and explore.
So when people used that phrase it never meant anything to her.  Her heart was wherever she wandered and yet it never seemed enough.
Until after she defeated Emet Selch, after she had saved the First.  Then at last she understood.
Her heart was with Ardbert.  The Hume had been a part of herself that had been missing.  And now she had him there at her side traveling with her, fighting along with her.  Helping everyone they met along the way.  And that was where her heart truly lied, with him.

Tumblr media
Aylis burst into laughter causing Ardbert to grin like a fool as he playfully shoved the amaro’s wing out of his face.  The Hume couldn’t help it the Warrior of Light’s laugh was music to his ears.
“Here now that’s cruel.” he stated grin still there
She wheezed a moment then caught her breath saying, “Sorry, sorry that was just hilarious.”
She returned his grin then walked over hands on hips glaring at the amaro, “Come now Smoke, that’s no way to treat a friend, what would Seto say if he saw you smacking Ardbert,”
The amaro looked at her his chocolate eyes locked on hers as he stated matter-of-factly, “That he probably deserved it,”
The Hyur woman fell over with laughter as Ardbert sputtered at the amaro.  Who looked back at him its jaw dropped in amusement.  Soot, Aylis’s amaro came over to her and grabbed her carefully by the back of her shirt pulling her to her feet, “Its true, he’d say that Ardbert must have done something to be knocked over, hes got tales you know.”
The hyur wiped the tears from her eyes looking at the beast and asked, “Does he now?”
“I’m sure he does Aylis, he was with me a while but hey no need to bug him.  After all hes got the whole flock to look after plus he always seems to be tired.  The old bird deserves rest you know.” Ardbert began alarm in his voice
Tumblr media
She gave him a wicked smile her eyes dancing with mischief, “Just what do you not want me to know hmm?”
Ardbert chuckled realizing how it might of sounded then said, “Nothing love, really nothing that I would not tell you myself eh?”
She laughed then hugged him, “Good I’d hate to have to trouble him for stories.
He hugged her back grinning like a fool, the Hume could scarcely believe his luck.  When she had nearly fallen to the Light and he had offered her his axe he had thought that was the end.  That he had done as he was supposed to do.  His last heroic act.  He had never dreamed that when she grabbed hold of the axe that he would find himself standing in the flesh at her side.  Nor that together they’d be bringing down Hades and saving the First.
But, they had and, when the battle was done, he was still there alive standing with her as her friends and her relished in their accomplishment.  He also had never expected the thread of their souls to still be tied, but it was.
So now he was, in the middle of the woods holding the woman who had saved his people and world from utter destruction.  With a second chance to make amends for all of his mistakes and he intended to fully take advantage of that.
She leaned into his touch smiling up and murmuring, “You aren’t the only one glad of things you know,”
He smiled back, “Aye, seriously though, if there is aught you want to know just ask me.”  He stepped back grabbing the back of his head a sheepish smile, “I’ll admit there were some less than flattering moments that the old bird had seen.  But, he hardly needs to be the one to tell you.”
She grinned back then turned to the amaro pair their eyes dancing with mischief, “That also means if you know of it you don’t say let him tell me ok”
Smoke dropped his jaw in amusement again looking sideways at them before saying, “Fine if you insist, but lemme tell you they were interesting,”
Soot bobbed her head in agreement with a laughing gwee as Ardbert looked aghast, “Just what had that old feather ball been telling you all?”
Both amaro gweed in amusement bobbing their heads their entire bodies shaking with their merriment as the poor Hume looked terrified.
Finally Soot managed to stop shaking herself before wheezing, “Relax Ardbert nothing as bad as you might be thinking we were just having a bit of fun.”
Smoke bobbed before mouthing his hair affectionately, “Aye, Seto has had naught but praise for you dear friend he adored you and has the upmost pride that he used to be your mount.”
“So you two decided to...and I....” he sputtered looking at the two laughing amaro heat coloring his cheeks.
Smoke nudged him, “Aye we decided to have a bit of fun at your expense, gotta keep you humble.  Its what Seto would want.”
Ardbert harrumphed but slapped the amaro affectionately on the side before climbing on him. Aylis’s laughter once again filling his ears as she mounted onto Soot.  “Ya he would,” the Hume stated smirking, “Well I guess I’d better get used to it huh,”
The amaro turned back to him before jumping up his jaw once again dropped in a grin, “Aye not to worry though I wont make you look the compete fool in front of her, after all you do that well enough on your own as it is.”
“Hey!” he shouted as the beast flapped forward causing him to have to grab the saddle to avoid falling.  He should have known from the moment Seto suggested this amaro come with him that this would be how it was.
Fortunately he knew full well the amaro was merely joking with him Aylis did not see him as a fool he knew that.  Her laughter came on the wind and he just smiled as together they flew off toward their next adventure.

As the approached the steps near the arch Ardbert paused catching Aylis by the elbow, “Your sure about this....I mean explaining you and I is a bit...complicated don’t ya think?”
She turned toward him her pale green eyes glittering with mischief, “Never thought you be the type to be nervous over meeting the folks...”
He sputtered a moment before stating, “I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, hero just trying to figure how we’re gonna explain how we are.  It’s not like I can just up and say hello, I first met her by coming to this world from my dying one and tried to off her.  Then by means of a crazy machine and a determined Miqo’te bloke she was dragged to my world where she nearly died cause she was over aspected ta light and by some miracle survived cause I who was following her as a ghost was there and helped her fight a evil sorcerer from a time when all the worlds were one.”
She laughed causing him to get a little smirk as she grinned stating, “You could simply say we met during my adventures and became close comrades and then more.”
He stared at her for a long moment feeling like an idiot for rambling before he squeaked, “Ya I guess that’ll work.”
Behind them both amaro gweed in amusement as they halted behind them.  He gestured toward the two of them asking, “And how in the name of Light and Shadow are you gonna explain them love?  Specially if they start gabbin”
“More comrades I met along the way whom happen to be quite unique.” she retorted.
He knew she meant what she said but he could also feel her apprehension concerning it all.  This was the first time she had been home since leaving to start her conjurer training in Gridania.
Ardbert and her had talked a great deal about her adventures before they met and he knew the last time she had seen any of her family had been on the Steps of Faith as she strode forward toward Nidhogg.  That had been her father and brother who had been terrified for her as they saw her face the dread wyrm.
He had in all honestly never expected to be able to meet her family.  However through Beqq Lugg they had discovered that their connection was more than what they had initially thought.  The No Mhu had confirmed that she and Ardbert were now a single soul twined together even if they had separate vessels.  The Fae had noted it upon looking at their aether that it was identical.
Later to better understand their connection he asked Ardbert to see if he could try to travel to the Source and back like she did.  They discovered that it was possible and after a while he and Aylis decided that since they were together they should see her family.
So here they were on the Source standing at the entrance to her childhood home.  Once again she smiled at Ardbert then the Midlander strode forward up the stairs to the front door.  He swiftly followed and the Amaro pair stayed on the path leading to the house.
Aylis opened the door calling, “Mother, Father, brother are you all home?  I have some comrades I’d like to introduce you to.”
They walked in and Ardbert noted it was a simple little cottage the front room having a few worn pieces of furniture surrounding a welcoming hearth.  Scattered about were vases and flower pots overflowing with various plants.  A stairwell off to the immediate left overtly lead up to an upper floor where there was the sound of running feet.
Directly across the way there was a doorway that lead to a kitchen area with stone counters  a good sized wooden table and a wood burning stove.  From in there came an elderly woman who was overtly Aylis’s mother they shared the same pale green eyes and the older woman’s hair still held some of the red shade that Aylis had.
“So who is this?” a male voice asked from the stairs, Ardbert turned to see a man not much older than him same pale eyes as Aylis and shock of red hair on his head.  His face was set in a very stern look as he eyed Ardbert overtly taking his measure.
“One of the ones I want to introduce you all to Alen,” she responded, “Is dad home or is he away?”
“Your father is in Ishgard at the moment aiding the Watch since the bulk of the Temple Knights are still for the most part afield in Ala Mhigo.”
Aylis frowned, “The Garleans aren’t on the move again are they?  Last I was told the fighting was at a standstill.”
Alen nodded, “Still is, but the City States felt it best to leave a strong presence at the front in case they start again.”
Relief flowed through Aylis and Ardbert gave her arm a gentle squeeze in reassurance which she beamed at him for.  All of which he noted was not missed by the sharp eyed brother.
“Come the others are outside, they can’t fit inside and they are quite...unusual.” Aylis stated turning bolting out the door.
Ardbert motioned for the older woman to proceed him trying his best to ignore the eyes boring into his back from the brother.  He grinned to himself, the man was certainly protective and he respected that.  He then strode out stepping to the side to avoid running into the shocked mother and made his way around to the two Amaro.
Aylis beamed at her mother and brother delighting in their shock as she stated, “Mother, Alen allow me to introduce Soot and Smoke my Amaro friends that I met during my travels.  Smoke, Soot this is my mother Anne and my brother Alen.”
Soot looked up her chocolate eyes glittering with amusement as she stated clearly, “A pleasure to meet you both.”
Alen’s eyes widened in shock as Smoke added, “Aye quite the pleasure.”
Aylis laughed at her brothers reaction and explained, “Amaro were enchanted long ago by an ancient civilization in their homeland.  Those ancestors were given the gift of speech and some of their descendants have it as well.”
Ardbert gave a lopsided grin, “If it helps a lot of folks from that land, my homeland as well, have a similar reaction often when one chooses to speak.”
Aylis giggled at that as both amaro rolled their eyes khrring at him in annoyance, she then added, “And this is Ardbert.  He has been a comrade for sometime now and has helped me quite a lot in my recent adventures.”
“Nice to meet you young man and thank you for helping my daughter,” the older hyur murmured recovering from her shock.
He gave her a bow, “It was nothin really, she helped me an my mates out a lot more and I had te do somethin,”
Aylis sighed and stating, “We helped each other equally Ardbert, and you know it.” His grin broadened and his eyes softened as he replied, “Aye, aye that we did.”
Anne looked at them with a small knowing smile as she saw the exchange then turned to the amaro stating, “We’ve got a bit of a yard outback why don’t you two make yourselves comfortable there and I’ll see about getting you some fresh greens....um you do eat vegetables right.”
Both of them gweed and Soot stated, “That would be wonderful madam, we eat much of the same things that a chocobo does so you needn’t worry about troubling yourself too much.”
The two of them then made their way around to the back yard and settled themselves down.  Anne then looked at Aylis and Ardbert and stated, “Now come along back inside you two lets get some good food in your bellies.”
As they went back inside Ardbert could once again feel the brothers eyes on his back.  Overtly the man had seen his and Aylis’s exchange for what it was.  The hume shrugged it off.  The man would learn or he’d hate him its as simple as that.  One thing Ardbert was certain of he loved Aylis and nothing was going to stand in the way of that.
As they sat down Alen asked bluntly, “Are you just a ‘comrade’ of my sister or is there something more?”
“Alen,” Aylis began but quieted as she felt Ardbert give her reassuring feelings through their bond.
“We are more, Alen was it,” Ardbert began “It started out as simple companions on the road but over time and the threats we faced together it blossomed into love.  I love your sister dearly and will be there for her whenever she needs me.”
“And I’m there for him Alen,” she stated placing a hand on his arm and frowning at her brother, “Do recall that I am the Warrior of Light and hardly need my brother’s protection.  I am not the little girl I once was.”
“I..” he sputtered, “Of course I know that Aylis but you are my sister and I’m not just gonna....”
He swiftly caved at her stern glare and went silent.  Then after a few moments he stated, “Fine...Ardbert was it?  Sorry for the hostility, but she is my sister you know....just....take care of her please.”
Ardbert nodded, “Aye I have every intention of doing so.  She and I work quite well together and have each others backs always.”
“Good to hear,” Alen stated, “And just know I will hold you to it,”
“Thats enough Alen,” Anne scolded, “Be happy for you sister, now eat up all of you.”
With that she laid down a full bowl of stew before each of them then stepped out to the garden to get some vegetables for the Amaro.

30 Day WoL Writing Challenge-Day 17-Comfort
@seaswolchallenge @ffxiv-writers
I ended up going out of the sync I’ve been doing but I felt inspired to write this.  Shb Spoilers beneath the cut (mostly story references and location)
Tumblr media
As they strode across the muddy ground the Scions couldn't help but admire the perfect bubble of air that Bismark left for them.
Ahead of them appeared to be some sort of structure embedded into the stone of the sea bed its light grey stone and golden accents standing out amidst the darker rock.
The others began discussing whether or not they should approach said ruins as Aylis sat down on a nearby damp rock pain wracking her body.
The Light was clawing at her very being, straining to be unleashed to overwhelm her.  It was held in check by Ryne's restraints and the Midlander’s own idea of turning the Shield of Light inward to contain it.
"Are you alright," the young Hume's voice rang in Alyis ears.
She looked at the young girl her blue eyes full of worry and concern and opened her mouth to speak, only to jump up pulling the girl behind her as the rock next to where Ryne had stood sprouted spiny tentacles and began charging forth.
Without hesitation Aylis immediately unslung her cane and cast Glare into what appeared to be the creatures maw.  It shrilled in anger and pain alerting the others of its presence.  Suddenly it appeared to curl in on itself and Aylis watched in horror as the beast transformed into a Sin Eater before their eyes.
Swiftly Alisaie charged in with Thancred beside her and the two of them dispatched the newborn Eater before it had a chance to strike. Aylis stood shaking her cane nearly falling from her grasp as she realized that she had turned the beast.
"How in Seven Hells?" Thancred began
"I....I did it.  I was trying to save Ryne, it was a single cast...." the Midlander stammered tears threatening to fall.
"Mayhap t’would be best if you do not attempt to cast again," Y'shtola murmered gently
Putting the cane away Aylis mutely nodded fighting against the tears whispering, "I...I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Alisaie snapped raw emotion in her tone, "All this time we have always relied on you to protect us.  Now its our turn and don't you dare say otherwise."
Aylis simply nodded not trusting her voice at the moment hating the pain she was causing the young Elezen.
The other Scions nodded in agreeance with the young woman's words and then they began making their way to the ruins  Aylis silently following ignoring the pain wracking her body.
Some time and several 'chores' later they found themselves staring at a shining city in the depths that the Ondu of the settlement nestled amidst the ruins they had seen, said belonged to the Ancients.
There was no doubt that this was where Emet-Selch had spirited the Exarch to.  Together they began to travel toward the city felling any fiends that got in their way.
Hours past and the constant battles were overtly taking their toll on the Scions.  Aylis felt useless for she couldn't even dare heal them when injured for fear of the Light within her corrupting them.
Finally she stopped stating, "Everyone please....rest."
Alisaie clearly wanted to protest along with Y'shtola.  Thancred looked down right rebellious and Urianger and Ryne had twin worried expressions.
Alphinaud equally as worried cleared his throat tentatively asking, "Aylis are you sure?  We really don't know how much time....."
"Please," the White Mage pleaded tears threatening to fall, "I..I'm so worried about all of you please...stop surely there's enough time."
Thancred's eyes softened and he replied, "If your sure I do not see why we can't take a small rest."
Aylis merely nodded still fighting back the tears as the others swiftly made a makeshift camp.  Within moments of sitting down most of them fell into an exhausted slumber.
Aylis meanwhile found herself unable to sleep from the pain and her worry for all of them.  She hated this, she felt so useless, so helpless.
Silently the Midlander let her tears fall choking back her sobs so as not to wake the others.  She sat there for a long time before she felt arms gently wrap around her.  Looking down though tear filled eyes she saw they were spectral and wore an all to familiar armor.
Aylis lead back into his embrace as Ardbert stated softly, "You look like you needed a hug..."
She nodded silently wrapping her arms about his spectral ones and closed her eyes.   They sat in silence, no words needed to be spoken.
Aylis knew he understood, the despair, the helplessness, the seeming hopelessness of all of this.
"You'll beat this," he whispered in her ear, "You save them all, both worlds."
Aylis leaned her head into his resting on her shoulder correcting, "We, will beat this.  We will save them all Ardbert."
Out of the corner of her eye she saw him give her his roguish grin, "Aye, we will.... together,"
She nodded at his words sleep at last claiming her despite her pain.  He sat there holding her praying he did not just make her an empty promise.
No matter what happens, I will see that she succeeds, that we win.  the shade told himself fiercly.

Character Profile-Aylis Tyme
Tumblr media
Name : Aylis Tyme
Age : 20
Birthplace : Small Village of Clove on the edge of Coerthas and the Black Shroud
History : Youngest daughter of an Herbalist  Anne and an Ishgardian Knight Roland she learned to be close to nature at a very young age.  She also understood well the hardship that fighting can bring seeing quite often her father and older brothers Alen and Randal coming back injured from constant battles with dragons. She and her mother applied plenty of herbal concoctions  and salves to heal their injuries. As she grew she found she had an affinity in conjury leading her to seek training in Gridania.
Personality : Aylis is extremely shy so she rarely speaks to people she is not close to. She prefers to let her actions speak for her and will turn to that before actual words.  Fiercely protective and determined she is every inch the silent brave hero.  She is often humble to a fault and has a habit of bearing more weight of responsibility than she can handle leading often to her closest friends to gently remind her she cannot do everything.

Bay leaf, Kennedia, Poppy!
Tumblr media
Bay Leaf- Those closets to her give her strength.  She is very shy so befriending someone can be a challenge.  However once your close to her she will give her all for them and her love for them will cause her to push herself harder to ensure they are taken care of
Kennedia-Outgoing natures are something she admires.  Aylis as stated before is shy so she usually is not one to reach out to people she is unfamiliar with.  People that find it easy to speak with others and befriend them she admires due to the ease in which they can.
Poppy- Aylis wishes she could forget how many of her close friends have fallen.  She wishes that it never happened and they were still there standing at her side.  Their loss is something that continuously haunts her.

Prompt # 30 Darkness Preserving Life
@sea-wolf-coast-to-coast
This is another one of my Character Aylis as the Amourtine Persephone its a continuation of fury-solutions .  It also explains my headcanon about the echo and how it is tied to Hydaelyn.(for I have always held that it and the blessing of light are two separate powers tied but separate)  Shb Spoilers beneath the cut.
Persephone took a breath and focused if she had done it correctly the concept of the Echo correctly it should enact right away.  It did in an instant she found herself one with the current of the Underworld.
She could hear its song which should have been harmonious screaming in discordant notes crying out for help.  She could feel the aetherial flow warped and twisted beyond recognition.  Tied in thousands of gnarled tangles that writhed to be loosed to follow their destine path once more.
As she sensed all of this she thought about what could be the root cause and in a flash it all became clear.  The creation magics, the magics her people prided themselves upon these were what was leading their world to destruction.  In their hubris and carelessness they had unwound the very aetheric laws that made their world….and there was no fixing this.
Her attunement was so complete that she saw it clear as day.  The Convocation’s solution, the summoning of their god Zodiark and the subsequent call of those who apposed it to Hydaelyn had been the death knell for their star.  The sheer amount of aether used to construct those beings tore what little of the firmament of aetherial law that remained.  Now two aetheric powers attempted to via for dominion over all of the star.  Darkness and Light alone, umbral and astral power.  The other elements were ceasing to exist due to the over inundation of these two titanic beings.
Persephone began to weep as she realized this, she had been right these deific beings were not the solution they were their doom.  Something had to be done, she had to find a way to save the star.
Child of Amarout, gifted creator, heed me for all is not lost….. a voice drifted toward her on the aetherial flow.
She sensed toward the voice and found herself near Hydaelyn.  Wary of what it could do she kept her distance.
Fear not child, I am Hydaelyn all made one.  The souls of thy comrades freely given to save themselves from the dark one
Persephone boldly stated, “I sense what you are Hydaelyn and I will not be bound to some beings whim”
I will not bind thee to me child, I wish to beseech thee for aid.
Persephone’s eyes widened in surprise and she got the sense that even if the being tried it could not bind her to it.  That was an interesting side effect that she hadn’t thought would happen with the Echo.  It was intended to solely be a means to better attune with the aether.  “How could I aid you?”
The dark ones power and my own are destroying thy star.  If it is allowed to continue it will bring about a cessation of all life.  Action must be taken.
“And you need me to do this in your stead for if you were to do it on your own the balance that is already skewed will simply shift to light destroying all life.  And if you were to fail it would shift to darkness and also destroy all life.”
Just so creator, in order to restore the balance of life both the dark one and I must be destroyed.
“But that would hasten the fall of the star you both are now inexorably tied to it due to the foolish actions of those who wanted a quick solution instead of understanding the consequence of their action.”  the Amourtine countered.
The star may fall but life will continue child, in this destruction new life will be born and the flow start anew untainted completely by the dark one’s and my power.
"Though both of your powers will still be there,” Persephone argued her newfound awareness with the Echo giving insights she never dreamed possible.  But this concept attuned her to the aether so completely that she was beginning to fully understand its workings.
That is true child, but our power shalt ever be with in the flow of life now for we are tied to it as art thou and thy kindred.
Persephone closed her eyes contemplating the entities words.  If naught were to be done the star would die for eventually one or the other of these beings would be in sole control.  Causing either a void of light or darkness depending on who prevailed.  Were she to do this however her star, her people would be destroyed but in doing so life would be preserved.
She opened her eyes staring at the sky fractured and fragmented tendrils of light and dark warring with one another and she made her choice, “I will aid you Hydaelyn, for to do nothing will bring about the cessation of all life and someone must answer for our hubris.  I only hope that those that come after do not follow our foolish path.”
Accept my power then child bring it to the dark one and unleash it fully in his presence.
With that the light around began flowing to her filling her being the darkness swelled around as the light left thinking it had triumphed.  Hydaelyn surrendered herself completetly into Persephone’s being until the Amroutine was a single beacon glowing in the stifling gloom.  Her feet moved of their own accord guiding her to the heart of where the darkness spread.  There Zodiark floated the Convocation all of them suffused with Zodiarks power.  They surrounded the being standing between her and it.
“Persephone what are you doing?” Hades snapped alarm filling him as he could see she glowed with the unatural power.
She looked at him suffused with Hydaelyn’s light stating, “What must be done to preserve life.”
With that she unleashed the full of the power onto the entity that they stood before Hades, Lahabrehea and Eledibus were thrown back from the strength of the aether and it slammed directly into Zodiark.  He screamed in rage as then light erupted all around them in a massive explosion which engufled all present.
The last thing Persephone saw before she and the star fragmented was Hades, and the other two fleeing from the destruction in a portal of writhing shadow. Life must prevail she thought as her soul shatter scattering itself through out the river of aether.

Tomorrow

Warning Spoilers beneath the cut for MSQ  Specifically time frame and references to the quest The Unbroken Thread.  As well as a bit of feels.
As the crowd dispersed cheering and discussing how best to defend the Crystarium as she had commanded them to do Aylis turned back to the Amaro keeper only to have the Light from within flare once more bringing her to her knees.  Ryne rushed forward using her power to aid in restraining it.
Once the girls ministrations were complete Aylis knelt there for a moment before gritting, “Perhaps I should rest until at least the morrow before going.”
“It would probably be best,” Ryne state worry coloring her tone.
Aylis started to get to her feet only to be picked up by Thancred who said, “No arguments I’m carrying you there.”
Aylis sighed knowing the futility of arguing with the Hyur and truly she actually appreciated it that last flare had been quite painful.  She hid the terror she was feeling at it deep inside not wanting to worry all of them further.
Thancred carried her all the way to the Pendants and into her room laying her on her bed. “Rest dear friend, and don’t ever think of leaving us behind again or I will personally hunt you down to yell at your for it!.”
“Sorry Thancred,” she stated softly, “I...”
“Rest.” he cut her off knowing full well what she was about to say then strode out of the door.

Aylis swung off the bed and attempted to stand only to stagger as the Light tore at her once more.  It felt like thousands of tiny shards of glass ripping at her soul.
“Ardbert!” she sobbed
Instantly she felt arms close around her and there was a brief flash of the Light before it ebbed away. She leaned back into him part of her wondering how he felt so solid since she could dimly see through his arms around her.
“Easy there, I told you if you lost control I’d help you.” he murmured softly.
Aylis turned toward him burying her face into the fur on his armor stating softly, “Thank you....I....can you just hold me for now?”
He blinked at her confused, “If that’s what you want....why?”
She looked into his eyes Spring Green meeting Glacier Blue as she stated softly, “Tomorrow I have to be the Warrior of Darkness, the hope of the First and the Source.  I love my friends dearly but they have worried enough, they....they can’t see me like this they’re hurting enough as it is.  But you...you understand the show...the burden of it all and.....I, I can be myself with you not the Warrior of Light or Darkness, not the Light of Hope....Just Aylis...and I...need that right now.”
Understanding filled his features and he just made his way back toward her bed keeping her in his arms the whole time.  She leaned into him grateful for his steadying presence.  Aylis had no idea why him touching her stopped the Light but at this point she didn’t care it did.  All of the fear and worry she had about it faded while he was there.  It was like he was a part of her she never knew was missing.
As she laid there in his arms she silently prayed, Mother Hydaelyn.  I have never asked you truly for anything but now, for all I have done for you, for how many have been taken from me to ensure your Light shown brightly.   Please, give him the chance he deserves when this is all over.  Let him have a life that isn’t full of torment and pain. This is my request, nay my demand of you and should you deny it  Remember how many Primals have fallen to me and know that I am not afraid to face another!
On the morrow she knew she had to be the Warrior of Darkness. But for this night she could just be a scared frightened woman who wanted someone who understood her there at her side.  And for now that was enough.
