He is a meme maker who has a panache for sprouting the silliest one-liners at odd moments. When he meets Chaitra (Rashmika Mandanna), it is love at first sight and he tries hard to woo her. Deva (Sampath Raj) is a police officer who seems to hold an old beef with Bheeshma’s father (Naresh). There’s also an old man called Bheeshma (Anant Nag), who’s the founder and CEO of Bheeshma Organics, looking for someone to replace him after his retirement. His biggest foe is the MD of Field Science, Raghavan (Jisshu Sengupta) looking to get farmers to switch back to chemical farming from organic. Then there’s Vennela Kishore, who pops in and out of the movie and lights it up in every frame he’s in. Believe it or not, the film is about these motley of people intersect with each other, thanks to Bheeshma.

There’s a lot going on in the film, even if none of it is particularly novel, and it takes a while to get used to the kind of filmmaking at display here. Most (if not all) the incidents that take place in the film are so unbelievable and far placed from reality, that it takes a while for a viewer to go with the flow and enjoy the ride. What’s more amazing is how Venky ties up all the threads by the end. The first half irks, when not all the jokes land. Once you remember this is a Venky Kudumula film and you stop taking everything as seriously as it’s sometime projected on-screen, you begin to even enjoy the ride in bits and pieces (still does not mean the jokes about weight and colour are okay, just no). Instead of being marketed as a rom-com with a theme of organic farming, the film should’ve definitely been sold as what it is – a whole bunch of irrational but sometimes fun (and funny) scenes strung together.

Bheeshma works surprisingly best when Venky sticks to his guns and does what he clearly does best. It lags and even feels boring when the climax doesn’t manage to impress, randomly placed fight scenes to elevate the hero, scenes placed clearly to do the same and songs composed by Mahati Swara Sagar roll around. While Whattey Beauty will definitely illicit whistles, thanks to Jani’s super-energetic choreography which somehow suits the vibe of the film, it’s still ill-placed. They seem comfortable in the skin of their characters and while the day is not there yet where an independent woman character gets her due in commercial cinema, Rashmika sure doesn’t play a damsel-in-distress or someone who has nothing to do but moon over the hero, and that’s a refreshing change. Even though her character deals with it well when it happens, just wish she wasn’t objectified in a certain scene. Nithiin pulls off his character with ease, delivering a good performance and definitely keeping up with the chaotic fun around him. Vennela Kishore livens things up with his flawless delivery of one-liners. Jisshu’s character is just there, so is Anant Nag’s, even if they do the best with what they’re handed. Brahmaji, Naresh, Raghu Babu and Sampath Raj breeze through their roles.

Bheeshma (Anant Nag) is the founder of Bheesma Organics who is never married and about to retire is in-search of his successor. Bheesma (Nithiin) meets Deva (Sampath Nag) ACP in an interesting situation and joins him for moral training. Chaitra (Rashmika) is the daughter of Deva. నితిన్, రష్మిక మందన జంటగా నటించిన చిత్రం ‘భీష్మ’. అనంత్ నాగ్, జిషు సేన్‌గుప్తా, వెన్నెల కిషోర్, సంపత్ రాజ్, నరేష్ కీలక పాత్రలు పోషించారు. వెంకీ కుడుముల దర్శకత్వం వహించారు. సితార ఎంటర్‌టైన్మెంట్స్ పతాకంపై సూర్యదేవర నాగవంశీ నిర్మించారు. మహతి స్వరసాగర్ సంగీతం సమకూర్చారు. ఈ చిత్రం శుక్రవారం ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చింది. తొలిరోజే మంచి వసూళ్లు రాబట్టింది. ‘భీష్మ’ బాక్సాఫీసును దున్నేస్తున్నాడు. తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో తొలిరోజు ఈ చిత్రం రూ.6.30 కోట్ల షేర్ వసూలు చేసింది. ఒక్క నైజాంలోనే రూ.2.21 కోట్ల షేర్ రాబట్టింది. మంచి ప్రచారం, పోటీగా పెద్ద సినిమాలు లేకపోవడం ‘భీష్మ’కు కలిసొచ్చింది. రెండో రోజూ కూడా మంచి కలెక్షన్లనే రాబట్టింది ఈ చిత్రం. రెండో రోజూ తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో రూ.4.20 కోట్ల డిస్ట్రిబ్యూటర్ షేర్ వసూలు చేసింది. మొత్తంగా రెండు రోజుల్లో తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో ‘భీష్మ’ వసూలు చేసిన షేర్ మొత్తం రూ.10.50 కోట్లు. ఆదివారం సెలవు దినం కాబట్టి కలెక్షన్లు తగ్గే అవకాశం లేదు. కాబట్టి మూడు రోజుల్లో తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో రూ.15 కోట్ల రావడం ఖాయం.

If you loved Chalo, giving Bheeshma a chance is a no-brainer (pun intended). Just don’t go expecting something even remotely sane or novel and you won’t be disappointed. 'Bheeshma', which released on Friday, had a superb opening on Day 1. As reported already, it mopped up Rs 6.25 Cr (Share) in the Telugu States on first day. The Nithiin starrer continued its superb run on Day 2 as well.  It made Rs 4.23 Cr in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Saturday.   The two-day figure now stands at Rs 10.52 Cr.  Here is the breakdown: Nizam's is Rs 5.20 Cr.  Ceded's is Rs 2.24 Cr.  Vizag's is Rs 1.78 Cr.  Guntur's is Rs 1.27 Cr.  East Godavari's is Rs 1.18 Cr.  West Godavari's is Rs 87 lakhs.  Krishna's is Rs 93.80 lakhs.  Nellore's is Rs 47 lakhs. Written and directed by Venky Kudumula, 'Bheeshma' also features Rashmika Mandanna, Jisshu Sengupta and Anant Nag.

Nithiin to star Andhadhun Telugu remake, Merlapaka Gandhi to direct the film - regional movies

Actor Nithiin will star in the yet-untitled Telugu remake of Bollywood hit Andhadhun. As per reports, the Telugu remake rights of Andhadhun have been acquired for Rs 3.5 crore by Nithiin’s home banner Shrest Movies, which is managed by his father.Reports have also confirmed that Merlapaka Gandhi, known for helming films such as Venkatadri Express and Express Raja, will helm the remake. Other details about the project are yet to be revealed. It could go on the floors in a couple of months.Nithiin currently awaits the release of Telugu romantic comedy Bheeshma, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna. The film is slated to hit the screens on February 21. Nithiin also has Rang De and a yet-untitled film with filmmaker Chandrasekhar Yeleti in the pipeline. He’s currently filming for Rang De, which also stars Keerthy Suresh. via Today Bharat The couple had initially planned a destination wedding in Dubai Actor Nithiin got married to Shalini, his longtime girlfriend, on Sunday at 8.30 pm at the Taj Falaknuma Palace Hotel in Hyderabad. The excited groom took to Twitter to announce his wedding and also shared some lovely pictures from the ceremony. “Mothaniki oka INTIVAADINI ayyanuu! Need all your blessings and love,” he wrote. This translates to "Finally I have become a household man", a common Telugu phrase used to indicate that a person is married. In the pictures that are being widely circulated, Nithiin and Shalini can be seen in gorgeous wedding attire with smiles on their faces. Nithiin was wearing a red coloured lalchi pyjama with golden flowers on it, while Shalini was seen wearing a golden silk saree. Earlier, the actor’s team announced that the wedding will take place only in the presence of family members and a few close friends as there is a limit of 50 guests at the wedding, as per the COVID-19 safety protocols. The priest was seen wearing a mask while neither the bride nor the groom was wearing one.
