A Holiday romance|Mason Mount

A three part series: part 1

Notes: [4012 words] This was fic I started to write a while ago during the euros so I had to bring back one of the euro camp gifs. Hope you guys like the fic, your feedback is ALWAYS appreciated! Love u all xoxoxox

Warnings: Some swearing and that's it tbh, some fluffyyyyy.

The euros 2020 were over, it was a completely devastating loss, and there was no doubt a gloomy atmosphere that loomed over the team and their friends and family.

You happened to be one of the people that felt the sting of England's loss first hand. Watching your brother's heart break on that pitch completely destroyed you.

And as much as everyone was upset and disappointed, a well needed break was way overdue for a sunny holiday to refresh and recharge.

Your brother had invited you with a few of his closest friends and some of his teammates to join you on his holiday in mykonos. The plan was to drink and party for the first 5 days until eventually the rest of your family would fly out and so would the boys family’s.

So you were now sitting in a comfy tracksuit, your earphones in, while you looked out the window of a private jet, so ready to soak up some well needed sun.

There was one thing that could remotely ruin your holiday, and that was the one and only Mason Mount.

The man you had known since you were 4 years old, the man you had despised since you were about 12 years old.

To you Mason was no more than one of your older brother's friends and team mate, and that’s all he ever will be to you. You saw Mason to be rude and arrogant. He was especially annoying to you, and god did he know how to push your buttons.

It didn't help that your familys got on so well, meaning that every holiday when you were younger involved Mason's family, which was fine, considering you loved his sister Jazz, but not him.

You were minding your own business on the plane, looking out at the gorgeous array of clouds before you were rudely disturbed by a tap on your shoulder and someone pulling an earphone out of your ear.

“Hey you!” Lauren sat down opposite you, a wide smile on her face. You loved Lauren, she had been dating Dec since they were about 16, so you had grown to know her and love her as a sister.

“Hey lozzy pops.” you smiled back as you pulled your earphones out to talk to her properly.

“You okay?” You asked her, noticing the frown on her face.

“Yeah, just-“ she sighed, “I was speaking to Dec, and Mason's quite upset about, you know, the loss, so try to be nice to him, for me?” she fiddled with her fingers as she spoke, shooting you a smile and mumbling a little please.

You just smile and shrug, “I’m not that much of a bitch.” you smirk at her.

She smiles and she nudges your arm, pulling up your other earphone so she can share one with you.

“Maybe you could cheer him up a little.” she smirks at you, raising her eyebrows as she nudges your side with her elbow.

“Shut up, I doubt I'm the last person he wants near him right now.” You sighed, turning your neck slightly to see mason sitting in a seat just a few rows behind you. Lauren was right, because he didn't have his usual ‘Mount smile’ on his face, he looked…sad.

Lauren was the leader of the ‘y/n and mason fan club’ being a huge believer that if you two just fucked it out then maybe you would get along.

Obviously this idea was ridiculous and you would never go near a naked Mason in a million years. And plus, she just wanted someone to go on double dates with.

When you arrived at your destination you all unacked into your rented villas. Unlucky for you, the only people in your villa for the meantime were: Dec, Lauren and mason. Mainly because both of your family's fly out you were sharing this villa all together. That was fine, it was a rather huge villa. And plus it was only 5 days until the rest of your family would join you.

You had spent the first half of your day curled up on the sunbed by the shared pool reading your book, trying to ignore the splashes of water coming from jack in the pool. As Sasha came and joined you and you both chatted away.

“Hey y/n?” You turned your head to see Ben Chilwell calling out your name from the bar behind you.

“Do you want a drink?” He smirked at you, you turned to Sasha who had a smile on her face. You rolled your eyes at her and jumped off the sunbed to join Ben at the bar. He had sun glasses on but you could still see him checking you out. And to be honest you weren't complaining. You were on holiday, and plus you only had five days to be horny before your family arrived

You bumped your shoulder against Bens as he looked down and smiled at you.

“Don't be boring, get a cocktail!” He smirked at you.

“Fancy a shot?”

“I like your thinking.” He smiled as he turned to mason, who handnt said a word.

Even though it was something like 3pm, shots sounded like a good idea.

You leant forward to see a clearly pissed off Mason, you hadn't spoken to him yet, but you didn't make a comment on his sour face, feeling kinda bad for him.

“Hey Mason.” You looked at him, but he didn't turn to you, instead he just got off the bar stool.

“Want a shot mase?” Ben turned to him, grabbing his shoulder.

“Nah.” He mumbled before walking away.

You rolled your eyes at his rudeness, before watching Ben order you both cocktails, “It's like he's got a stick up his arse.” You said, causing Ben to snort out his pornstar martini.

You had a few friendly drinks with Ben at the bar for a while, not really flirting, just chatting, and plus you both ended up getting extremely drunk before walking back up the villas to get changed to go clubbing that night.

When you make it back to your room you don't really remember much of doing your make up and choosing an outfit. You just got changed and got in the taxi with lauren and mason in the back, dec in the front.

You were trapped in the middle as your leg was squished against masons. You looked up at him and smiled, and he gave you a faint smile back.

The exchange of looks didn't go unnoticed by Lauren, who just sat back and smiled, she knew her plan was working. Yes, Mason had been sulking over the loss, but not the loss you were aware of.

Recently it had been Lauren's birthday, you knew the group went out clubbing but you hadn't been able to go since you had been booked for a youtube thing. But little did you know mason had had a few drinks and started asking around for you, when Lauren told him you couldn't make it, she saw the sadness in his eyes.

“Don't you hate y/n?” Lauren knew it was wrong to quiz him, especially since he was drunk, but she just had to know. And she doubted he would remember in the morning.

“The opposite actually.” Masons mumbled, as he rubbed his face with his hands.

“Mase, do you have a thing for y/n?” she smiled as she whispered in his ear over the bar, not wanting Dec to hear.

“Isn't it obvious? I've loved her since I was like 12. Im pretty sure she's like my soulmate Lauren! I want with y/n what you and Dec have.” He groaned out, Lauren's eyes widened in shock at his confession.

“Oh god, he's doing it again isn't he? For god's sake mase.” Ben groaned as he threw his head back, coming over to put Mason's arm over his shoulder.

“Wait, what are you on about Ben? Lauren quickly stops Ben.

“He does this every time he's drunk, he confesses his undying love for y/n. And I have to drag him away from Dec before he finds out that his best mate wants to shag his sister.” Ben mentaly grimaces as his friend is about to feel very embarrassed about this tomorrow.

“I knew it!” Lauren smiled.

“I mean it's pretty obvious, you've seen the way he looks at her.” And with that Ben tried to hold Mason up as he dragged him out the club to take him home.

Now this is where laurens plan started, she had spoken to Ben at the airport quickly, both of them deciding to create a plan to get you both together.

It started with Lauren telling you about Masons sulking, she knew you would immediately take pity on the boy and feel sorry for him.

Then plan two was where Ben came in, the plan was for Ben to ask Mason if he could ask you out. Ben felt awful doing it, but he knew Mason would never tell his friend he couldn't get with a girl just because he had a crush on her.

So with Mason feeling jealous, and you feeling sorry for him, step three was for you both to do on your own.

The club was packed and sweaty, and after what felt like hours of dancing you went to the bar, since you were starting to feel tired.

“I'll get it.” You heard someone shout over as you ordered your drink. You wwe about to roll your eyes, thinking it was some sleazy man.

“No thank- oh. Thanks mase.” you smiled up at him, and this time, since the whole holiday, he flashed you a genuine smile.

You stood on your tiptoes, pulling the sunglasses off his eyes, you watched as he blinked a few times, his eyes adjusting to the light.

“I'm doing this for your own good. Stop wearing sunglasses in night clubs.”

You watched him awkwardly giggled, you placed his glasses on your head before joining the others back at the round table.

The next night Mason had brought a girl back, and you didn't sleep that night because all you could hear was them having sex till stupid o'clock in the moning. After hearing the moans of a random girl caused by Mason, you felt quite sick to be around him. It was almost like you felt angry. Angry that he would dare bring some girl back to your shared villa, and sleep with her when you were staying next door. It was like he didn't even consider your feelings. And that's exactly what you told Ben the next morning, he just laughed and said it sounded like you were jealous. But you were far from jealous.

Instead you found yourself spending an unhealthy amount of time with Ben. You loved spending time with Ben, it was different, and plus all you would both do is get drunk while he told you about his girl problems. See Ben never flirted with you, which you found odd, but you didn't really mind as you found a friend in him.

Then 4 days later the rest of your family had flown out and you all went for a meal that night. You were all at a fancy restaurant as you felt the masons gaze fall on you a ridiculous amount of times.

That night you went home and uploaded a few photos to instagram of you and the boys, which was an awful idea since your dms had been blowing up about you and sleeping with the boys.

The comments on your body in a bikini made you feel ill, but you read them until tears were streaming down your face.

You couldn't sleep that night, and when you checked the time it read 4:12am as you thought you would go on a walk.

You were quiet as you tiptoed down the stairs, but somehow you managed to bump into a tall figures back.

“Little rice? What are you doing?” Mason said in a groggy voice, as he walked into the shared kitchen with an empty glass.

You jumped at first, his sudden entrance scaring you slightly. You look him up and down before answering.

“Was going to go for a walk. Can’t sleep.” You say bluntly, shrugging your shoulders, trying to tear your eyes from him.

He was shirtless, wearing only his pants, you tried not to look at his toned chest but instead how perfectly messy his hair was, as you watched him rub his eyes and walk to the fridge.

“It’s late though?” He questioned you.

“And, what are you going to do? Tell my mum?” You roll your eyes as you grab Declan's jumper that was hanging over the bar stool next to you, putting it on.

“Y/n it’s 4am, and you want to go for a walk, in a foreign country, as a female, and on your own?” Mason huffed as placed down his glass of water, grabbing his shirt and shorts off the back of a chair and putting it on.

You stood eyeing him up for a second, before you realized what he was doing, but mason stopped you before you could protest.

“If you're going for a walk at this time of night I’m not going to let you go on your own am i.” Mason smeared at you bluntly as he tried to stifle a yawn.

“That defeats the whole point of walking on my own. And if I did want company it’s definitely not yours.”

"Anyway, haven't you got that girl up in your room again?" You say crossing your arms, trying to not sound jealous.

"What girl?" Masons laughs.

You roll your eyes at him playing all innocent, "The girl you was shagging all night last night in the room next to me? The reason I got no fucking sleep!" You whisper shouted at him.

"Y/n."

"Whatever i'm-"

"Y/n!"

You turned to see mason with a wide smile on his face.

"What?" You scoff at him.

"One, I defiantly did not bring a girl back here. And two, I'm not in the room next to you." Mason brings his lips into a faint line.

You stand for a moment as you think who else was in the villa with you if it wasn't mason having loud sex at 2am... your brother.

"Ew!" You start to gag as Mason laughs at you being dramatic.

"Ugh gross, I'm actually going to have to kill myself. Ewwwwww."

Mason was laughing as he walked over to you at the door, he smiled as he pulled on his shoes and his hat. But against your persistence, Mason followed you out onto the dark streets of Mykonos.

You were both walking in a comfortable silence at first, soaking up the warm breeze and listening to the sounds of early birds. Peaceful, until the little fuck had to open his mouth.

"Can I just add, ive left my phone... and clearly so have you, so if we get kidnapped and sold off to some sex ring-"

"Mason." You say, turning to him with wide eyes. "No ones getting kidnapped."

"People would pay a lot of money to cut off my feet and have them stuffed, you'll be surprised by the stuff I read in my instagram dms."

You had to try to stifle a little laugh, because you were aware of how crazy messages that people send can be, being quite the famous YouTuber yourself.

There it was again, you fell back into that comfortable silence, until you started to think about all the things you had come on the walk to distract yourself from. You looked over at Mason, he was clearly in his head, you could tell by the frown on his lips. Then you remembered what Lauren had said to you on the plane.

“Are you okay?” You blurted out, Mason's face snapped to you with furred eyebrows.

“You know, since the final?” You mumbled out, trying to avoid his intense gaze.

“You really want to know?” Mason scoffs.

“I’m simply making conversation." You shrug at his judgemental attitude.

“Honestly,” Mason sighs out. “I'm still pretty devastated. I really wanted it, so did the rest of the boys but, I really wanted it.”

“Why's that?”

“I think its because I feel this overwhelming pressure to prove myself to everyone.”

There was silence as you had both decided to sit on the same wall that separated the road from the beach, you kicked some sand between your toes before Mason spoke up again.

“I had so many conversations with my dad growing up about needing a back up career, I was always told to keep my options open, you know. And looking back it was just my parents wanting to play it safe, but at the same time for a kid I always felt like they didn’t believe in me.”

“Shit.” You just raised your eyebrows, sort of peachless that he had decided to confide in you of all people.

“Sorry I don’t know why- I don’t know why I’ve just said all that.” Mason says, shaking his head, as he brought his hand up to rub his temples.

You placed your hand on his knee, which caused Mason's heart to thump at the contact.

“You shouldn’t be sorry for how you feel, it’s not like we can control our emotions.” You shrugged your shoulders, moving your gaze from his eyes to the beautiful view of the glistening sea.

“But I suppose losses like the euros are just gonna make you more hungry for other things like the new season and the World Cup.” You sighed at him.

Mason's eyes didn't move from your face the whole time you were talking, he knew you knew he had been staring. But he didnt care, the way your eyes reflected the sea and glistened in the moon was enough for him.

His smile never faded as you tried your best to make him feel better, his eyes flickered to your hand that was still on his knee, before he nudged your arm, causing you to turn to him with a faint smile.

“What about you, doubt it’s nice being Britain’s ‘it girl’ ” He rolled his eyes.

“Shut up.”

“Seriously though what’s that like? Having every teenage girl want to be you.”

“Honesty? You turned to him, raising your eyebrows.

“Honestly.” Mason smiled.

“I hate it a lot of the time. I would never say that out loud to someone else because it would probably be seen as problematic. But sometimes I just think about how people know everything about me, like every tiny little detail.”

“That’s the price of being famous i guess.” Mason shrugs.

“I feel like, I can’t be myself sometimes, it’s like everything I say and do is analysed. I have to look perfect and be perfect all the time.” You huffed, as the reason you were on this walk in the first place.

“Or it’s like I feel guilty for being sad or taking time off because then people will say that I have this perfect life and I should be happy all the time… it’s just exhausting.”

You don’t know where that came from, you’ve never said that before in your life… you just blurted it out.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know where that came from.” You awkwardly laugh, confused at yourself.

“This person, I can't remember her name, but she once told me you shouldn’t be sorry for your emotions, because you can’t help what you feel.” Mason smiled down at you.

You looked up at his face, his eyes were twinkling in the moonlight, as his eyes held full eye contact on yours. You felt your heart flutter as he repeated your words.

“I feel like this is a brief relapse in the whole enemies thing we have going on, we can go back to hating each other tomorrow.” You say, trying to suppress your smile.

“Why do you hate me little rice?” Mason says, you could feel his stare burning into you.

“Because you're a dick” You say with no hesitation, flicking a bit of sand up with your foot.

“Ooof” Mason nods as he shakes his head with a smirk, placing his tongue in the corner of his mouth.

“You really don’t know?” You question him.

“Wait, there's a reason?” Mason sat up, shocked.

“Yes! Mason what the hell, it literally all stems from that one time when we were twelve and you ruined my birthday party!” You looked at him as if it was obvious.

Mason's Brain goes foggy for a second before he recalls what you're about.

“The cake thing? You still hate me at the big age of twenty two because I knocked your birthday cake over with a football when we were twelve?” Mason scoffs, a wide smile covering his face.

You don’t reply, but Mason knew by that look on your face that you were being serious.

Mason's lips draw into a line as he bites his lips, he tried to contain his laughter, and to be serious, but he couldn’t as started having a laughing fit.

“Stop laughing!” you say with a small giggle.

“Mason I swear.” you push his arm, trying to stop yourself from laughing along with his stupidly contagious laugh.

“Sorry, sorry.” Mason raised his hands in defence, “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.” He wiped a few happy tears from his eyes.

You laugh along with him, your hatred for Mason did really stem from that little accident when you were 12, but you actually weren’t too sure why you hated him, but right now all you knew was you two seemed to be getting on quite well.

“You totally did it on purpose.” You cross your arms and smirk at the brunette boy who was wiping tears of laughter from his eyes.

“Did not!” He said back defensively.

“Er, yes, you did!”

“I was trying to do some kick ups to impress you! You know I used to have a huge crush on you when we were kids.” Mason blurred out, feeling slightly embarrassed about his childhood feelings.

“Really?” You ask him, a smirk placed on your cheeks.

“Yeah it was pretty obvious, everyone used to tease me about it.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck.

You sit for a second, never realizing that before Mason had had a crush on you..

"My mum used to say we would get married one day." Mason mumbled as he placed his leg up on the wall, resting his chin on his knee.

"Funny because my mum still says the same thing." You say with a slight smile.

Jack moved to Manchester City and left her at Aston Villa. (Based on this request — contains spoiler!)

She had tried to be happy for Jack. She had tried to understand him. But every time she thought about it and tried again, it only hurt her more.

She had never blamed him for wanting more. The first person Jack told about his dream of playing Champions League football was her, the first person Jack told about his idea of leaving Aston Villa to play in the Champions League was her. She had always understood Jack Grealish and all of his big dreams.

They were the stars of Aston Villa, the captains of their teams. They'd grown up watching and being fans of the club. It was truly a dream come true for them to actually play for the senior teams and be the captain at such a young age. They had been friends since they were in the youth teams and as they got closer, they'd started sharing to each other about their wishes and their visions, to write history for the club. And they did, she'd helped the women's team to get promoted to the Super League, Jack had helped the men's team to get promoted to the Premier League.

She continued to dream for Aston Villa, but he had moved on to his next dream.

She was offered the same thing from Manchester City, a significant raise of salary with a crazy amount of money that she never thought was possible for a women player transfer fee. Oh, yes, she was really good, considered as one of the best players in England. Several clubs had shown interest in her and made some offers. But she rejected them all, she rejected Man City, because she just couldn't see herself playing for another club, at least not right now. Her heart was still at Villa, she didn't think she had paid back Villa for everything the club had done for her and her family.

She knew Jack loved Villa as much as she did, just like they'd always said, they would forever be Villans. So him becoming a City player, or another club's player at all, had never been a problem for her.

What hurt her, what really, really, broke her heart to a million pieces, was the fact that Jack had never shared anything about him moving to Manchester City.

A couple of days after he'd gotten back from Mykonos for holiday, he went to her house. She thought he'd wanted to catch up, since they hadn't seen each other almost all summer. Turned out that he'd wanted to say goodbye, saying, "I'm moving to Manchester City. And I don't think I can continue this relationship with you."

It hurt her that Jack had decided on his own about what he thought was best for both of them, that Jack didn't even think they could have a future together. She thought that Jack loved her, but apparently he didn't love her enough to put up a fight for their relationship. He had chosen the easy way, leaving her with confusion and pain that she had to face on her own.

It had been weeks, and she was still having a hard time to understand. It hurt more every single day, remembering that Jack, the person she loved, thought that she wasn't worth fighting for.

After years of being best friends, she and Jack had started dating just over two years ago. The public had eventually found out about it and the fans had started calling them The Villa Couple. Despite some criticism from some people who didn't think it was a good idea for the two captains to be involved in a romantic relationship, their fans had gotten on their back saying that it could help people at the club to bond a little more through their connection. And somehow they kind of did that.

It hurt every time she looked back on everything they had been through together. She couldn't blame him for choosing a different path, but she was angry that he'd chosen not to take her on that journey. He'd just left her and the dreams they had built together.

The scars were still fresh. Every day, she'd felt like she was just reliving the day Jack left her. But today, she was forced to move on.

It was going to be the first time she would see Jack after a few months. There was a gala in London held by the FA where all the England men's and women's teams players were invited. The idea of seeing Jack there was really stressing her out, she'd thought about not coming, but as the vice-captain of the Lionesses she really needed to be there.

Luckily, a gentleman named Tyrone Mings had suggested that they should be each other's plus one. Tyrone was one of Jack's closest friends, so over the years she'd eventually become close with Tyrone too. Tyrone knew about the whole situation, so as a good friend he kindly offered to accompany her. "We could go as Aston Villa representatives," he said, "And, I mean, I can be your bodyguard too". She simply said yes.

She wished she shouldn't have had to stop for the red carpet. The blinding flashes and the yelling from the photographers were overwhelming for her. She was so uncomfortable and wouldn't be surprised if she would turn out horrendous in these photos. If it wasn't for Tyrone's hand that constantly caressed her back, reminding her that she wasn't alone, she would've ran away.

But then people at the entrance way were screaming, and everybody's head, including hers, turned to the source immediately. It must've been someone important arriving or people wouldn't be screaming at the top of their lungs for their attention. She scoffed when the yells became audible to her ears. Because apparently the very important person was Man City's newest star, Jack Grealish.

She felt Tyrone's hand squeezing her shoulder, trying to take her attention away from the commotion down the red carpet, saying that they needed to get inside. But she couldn't seem to take her eyes away. She and Jack had always gone together to events like this, so she was curious who was the person who was taking over her role to be his plus one.

And her heart dropped when she caught a glimpse of the person. A pretty girl with light blonde hair wearing an emerald green dress.

She could see Jack smiling at the girl before he quickly circled his arm around her waist before they started to pose for the cameras. She felt all the air left her lungs. Her feet lost their strength; if it wasn't for Tyrone holding her, she definitely would've fallen embarrassingly right there in front of all these people.

Rage was the first thing she could identify from all the overwhelming emotions that washed over her. Her heart was pounding extremely hard as her mind was instantly clouded with so many questions.

He came here with a new girl. Someone she didn't recognise; by her pretty face and her elegance, she bet the girl was a model. He freaking came here with a new girl.

What was he trying to say to the public? That he had broken up with the Aston Villa Women's captain and was now dating someone else? God, she hadn't even told all of her friends that they had broken up. She didn't even know that things were really over between the two of them, she was pretty sure that they had left things unfinished and that in the very near future they would talk about it again. But there was Jack Grealish with his new plans.

"Hey, let's get inside, okay?" Tyrone leaned down and whispered to her. He even needed to shield her from the view to get her attention, and from the cameras because he noticed her eyes had started to glisten with tears that could fall at any second. Her hands were practically crushing Tyrone's forearms, holding on to him for her dear life. She barely registered Tyrone's voice, her ears were ringing and she felt dizzy, it was overwhelming.

All these time, she had been holding on to a glimmer of hope, that somehow she and Jack still could save their relationship. But it turned out that Jack had already let everything go and run to the future. She had just become nothing but a memory from his past.

She and Tyrone were seated with Ben Chilwell, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Luke Shaw, and their plus ones. Most of the time they were sharing stories from the summer camps. And when everyone was so engaged in the conversation, she'd pretend to just listen, and took the chance to steal a glance at Jack and his new muse who was sitting at two tables in front of them.

The lump that stayed on her throat choked her every time she looked at him. He looked fine. He looked happy. But it couldn't be true, could it? Would it be possible that he'd moved on so quickly? She hadn't asked him if he'd fallen out of love or not but even if he had, wouldn't he at least be sad that their relationship ended just like that? She wished that he was just wearing a mask, just like her, to cover all the pain they were actually suffering through.

And her mask had worn off by the time they got into the after-party.

Her teammates tried to drag her to the bar or the dance floor, but she kept saying no, and they knew she was upset and why, so they left her eventually. She would rather stay at her booth to do absolutely nothing. Tyrone had also insisted on keeping her company, but she would feel like the worst person ever if Tyrone didn't have fun tonight because of her, so she told him to go; she knew he'd been dying to catch up with Coady.

Leaving now and going back to the hotel sounded like a decent plan. But her little heart told her to stay, because as much as it broke her heart seeing Jack with someone else, she still wanted to see what he was going to do for the rest of the night.

She knew Jack. It could be a disguise: the show he was putting on tonight, the unfaltering smile he plastered across his face, the romantic gestures he did to his plus one. It probably would be so evil of her, but she hoped that he was actually suffering inside as much as she did. She hoped that he found everything about Manchester strange and hoped that things weren't that kind to him.

These thoughts kept her company, until Ben, Declan Rice, and Mason Mount stopped at her booth to say hello. Ben introduced her to Declan and Mason, saying that the pair had been waiting for this day to finally meet her. Declan showered her with compliments right away, saying that her iconic goal from last season was one of the best goals he'd ever seen. Even though she wished she could just be left alone at first, these boys knew how to make her comfortable. They started to engage her in a conversation that she was actually interested in, and at some point Ben went to the bar to order them some drinks.

She was able to put aside the thoughts about Jack for a second, until the person appeared.

Jack walked past their booth with the girl, holding hands. They were stopped a couple of times by some people who wanted to say hi, and she just couldn't take her eyes off them, until they finally reached the bar. From where she was sitting, she could clearly see Jack and the girl. It was displayed in front of her like a movie.

Her heart was pounding hard and she was actually trembling. Her eyes were burning hot seeing Jack's hand rested on her waist, as he constantly leaned closer to whisper things to her ear and they would laugh together once in a while. It irritated her that for the whole evening, Jack hadn't even looked at her, hadn't even bothered to even say hi to her. He was acting like he was the star of the night, and all that mattered was how he and his new diamond caught everyone's attention.

Oh, yes, she was jealous, more than she had ever felt in her whole life. She wondered, what would Jack feel if she was the one who brought a new guy? Would he be jealous too? Would he be mad? Would he care at all if right now, she was at the bar, getting hit on by another guy?

Her eyes started tracing all the people at the bar, until she spotten Ben, not far from where Jack was, talking to Kalvin Phillips. She didn't know what had gotten into her, but she excused herself from the booth.

With her head held high and her shoulder straightened, she walked herself to the bar. She could feel people's eyes burning holes in her, and they were probably thinking, "That's the girl with the broken heart." She hoped Jack was looking at her too, because she was also going to put on a show, a special one for him.

"Hey, you okay?" Ben asked her with a worried tone. His conversation with Kalvin was cut off by her sudden arrival, and she didn't look good. The sad gaze that had been in her eyes the whole evening had been replaced by something darker.

"Just trust me."

She took a step closer to Ben, making Ben lean back a little bit, quite surprised with her move and wondering what she wanted him to trust her for.

But Ben couldn't stop her, when she suddenly put both of her hands on the sides of his face, as she leaned in and pulled him closer.

Their lips clashed. She kissed him. And Ben was too stunned to react.

The gasps around them were loud enough to be heard, followed by a millisecond of silence, and those were proof that people were paying attention to them. Ben's eyes were wide open when she pulled away. She stared up at him as she retreated her hands. Ben's furrowed eyebrows and slightly opened mouth reflected his confusion perfectly. But she said nothing. And the next second, Ben was on the floor.

Because Jack had violently pushed him.

"WHAT THE F*CK, MAN?!" Jack yelled. He was about to get to the ground to either punch Ben or grab his collar, but some people immediately held him and pulled him back.

As she regained her balance since she also got pushed away, Ben quickly got on his feet, helped by Kalvin. Angered by Jack's action, Ben was also going to attack him, but Kalvin and some other guys shielded Ben from Jack. The two men kept yelling and cursing at each other, until Kalvin dragged Ben away, and Ben eventually shrugged him off. He eyed her with a serious questioning look before walking off the scene.

She just stood there looking at Jack who was still so furious and finally, for the first time in forever, looked back at her.

"Are you crazy?!" Jack yelled again, and that one was for her. All the happiness and excitement that he had been displaying had vanished, replaced by anger and disappointment. And she was pretty sure that there was also a hint of hurt in his eyes.

A little smirk appeared on her face and it grew into a devilish smile that probably made her look like she was crazy. She chuckled and shook her head lightly looking at Jack being dragged away. Declan, Mason, and Tyrone who had just arrived at the scene were gazing down on her, clearly looking worried, asking her if she was okay. But she was busy enjoying the feeling she was feeling. It felt like she had just won a match.

Because her guess was right. Everything Jack had done was just a disguise. He had tried so hard all night to look happy, that he had really moved on from her and the previous chapter of his life, even trying to look in love with a girl he probably knew nothing about. It was all just a show.

She was right. Jack still cared.

You knew from the very second he walked through the door that annoyed would be an incredibly generous word to describe the emotions running through the Brummie boys head. You grimace to yourself, shoulder raising closer to your ears at the sound of the brand new front door slamming heavily behind him with a curse at the fact he couldn't get his shoes kicked off just right the first time he attempted it in the foyer.

The first game was a loss and just about all he'd gotten for the past few days was hate, stress, hate and some more fucking stress. He was exhausted. From Mykonos to Birmingham to get a bag full of clothes so he could meet Villa in London before eventually travelling to Manchester, his sleep schedule has been completely messed up and even when he did have bursts of time where he should have been sleeping, he had been laying awake scrolling through countless tweets criticising his every single move. Add to that the fact his body was exhausted from international duty and that he had wanted nothing more than to curl up by your side and let his worries melt away like he had last gotten to do nearly three whole months ago.

He doesn't know you're here. To the very best of Jack's knowledge, you were still home in Birmingham and he would probably have to broach the conversation of whether or not you'll be joining him up anytime soon, if ever. He lets out a frustrated grunt, but you know Jack better than anyone else and there's the thick sheen of his heart aching tears existing beneath his frustration.

"Hey baby."

His head snaps around to land his eyes on you the second your sweet voice meets his buzzing ears. The echos of Etihad still burn a bit of his hearing away for now, but he knows it'll return to normal by the end of the night. The tears that had previously been kept on his lash line, pushed back by his will not to breakdown for fear he might not be able to stop if he starts are now past the last line of defence, streaming over his cheeks as he crossed the floor at a pace that would send his fife rating into surefire question.

Your body makes an involuntary 'oof' as he crashes against you, his arms so tight around your body as he stops you from stumbling back with the force of his incoming hug. You don't think he's ever actually held you that tightly before, never with such dire necessity, with such urgency for you to be as close to him as he could get you.

The hair that's been allowed to fall loose from the band he'd earlier had it tied back in tickles the back of your neck as it dangles over the exposed skin. He mumbles something almost incoherent about how much he's missed you into your neck, pepping chaste kisses where his lips have landed against you in this hug. You wished you could enjoy that, but the dampening that has begun to occur over the shoulder that his head is above reminds you of the pain he must be in.

Leaving your childhood club is one thing, but leaving it when everybody else seems to think he's a monster for it is a whole different kind of agony. There were just too many emotions for people to see the kind of things Jack had given for the club and the huge opportunity he had left them with his legacy and with the money they copped for his record breaking sale.

"It's okay, Jacky." You coo, tightening your arms around you as he attempts one tighter squeeze to force the tears back into him. It's a futile attempt, his arms loosening but never dropping away from you as he squeezes his eyes shut and lets those sobs shake his body. "I got you, baby. I've got you."

There was such a mix of emotions running through him that made him feel like the world had just pushed him to the ground and taken the perfect opportunity to give his body a good kicking. First final for England in 55 years, then they lost in a penalty shootout he didn't even get to be a part of after a game he barely got to play in. Then a holiday he couldn't take with you because of work commitments and a sudden coworker needed sooner maternity leave meaning your holiday was completely eliminated. As if those things didn't dampen his spirit, all that transfer business had gone down and it was finally all hitting him.

His exhaustion had caught up, an inevitable burn out that could be messed only by the presence of you in his life. Some of this tears that stream down his cheeks and pool on the grey material of your t-shirt are ones of joy and relief for finally having you back in his arms again for the first time in far too long of a time. Jack vows he will never ever spend that amount of time without you again. Never will he let so much time pass before he gets to hold you, kiss you and tell you face to face how much he truly loves every single thing about you.

"You're my rockstar, you know." You announce, seemingly out of the blue ones his body wracking sobs had died to smaller sniffled and period tears streaking down onto you. "I've literally never been prouder of anyone in my life ever. Not only did you fucking smash the euros, but then you stayed so sweet and so amicable during such a difficult process. You handled everything so well, J. I'm so proud or you and I'm so, so happy for you." You promise, pushing him back so you can take his blotchy, tear streaked face in your head. The expanse of that face is coved in your kisses, pecked all over the surface until he's giggling like the Jack that you know so well, his laugh the most contagious sound you've ever been lucky enough to get to hear on a daily basis. "And I'm so lucky that you let me share this journey with you." You finish, landing your lips softly and perfectly onto his with a warmth and love he had been desperately missing out on for those last vital few weeks of his break.

"S' our journey," Jack mumbles in response against your lips, pulling back every so slightly so he can get a proper good look at the face he had missed so much in person. Your cute quirked eyebrows and confusion tainted eyes make him smile before he elaborates. "Not my journey, it's our journey together. All of this, just the two of us."

His words make your heart sore, flying up onto the space above you in pure glee. You had to admit there was a mild element of fear wondering if he would want you here or if he'd maybe be wanting fresh start, but that was certainly not the case for Jack.

"I love you," he says as you feel him tuck you right back into his chest with a content hum. "I love you too, but you need a wash."

Jack's laughter bellows loudly from his chest beneath your ear at your lightly playful and yet very truthful statement.

"I ran you a bubble bath for you. Bathroom's huuuuge." Your eyes are full of wonder like he thought they might be when he would get the opportunity to bring you out to his temporary Manchester abode. This is you would both stay until he could find a house to place some money down on so he can truly start to settle out the fact he's going to have the next six years of his life here in this area with this club. It makes him more than happy, being here. But something that tickles him in thought as he follows you up the stairs is that he'll get to experience all of this newness with you. You’ll get to explore the new area together, find nee places, making it home together. You had both known Soulihull like the back of your hand, now you could find new places to just be together. He can go house hunting with you. He'll let you drag him through the houses he probably wouldn't otherwise look so much into, talking about what room could be which and silly little things he wouldn't even have noticed.

He could pick a house with you that would have enough room to start a family in together within the next year or so, like you had been hoping to do depending on what the club and transfer season had brought. This brought stability, a team that would function well without a reliance on him if there were some things he had to sit out in order to build this family.

It had been, unbeknownst to you, such a pivotal part of discussions with the Manchester City agents. Jack made it clear he was looking for stability and trophies. He had done so much for Villa and now it was time for him to invest energy in bigger fights with bigger clubs that don't face relegation so constantly. He made it clear to the managers also that the was looking to be in the business of starting a family sometime soon. He was welcomed with open arms still. A club who wanted him desperately and would probably have caved to many more demands from him, not having a fraction of an issue with negotiated paternity pay and leave.

He couldn't wait to find a house and settle down here with you for the foreseeable future, even if things didn't look exactly as he thought they might've looked when you first got together as merely young adults.

"What's going on in that pretty head of yours, eh?" You ask softly, running your fingers gently through his tangled and sweaty hair as he stands there in the middle of the large bathroom. Jack shrugs. There's so much in there today, not really like usual where he could sort through those thoughts and keep his head clear for every day and every game he faces.

"Just stressed," he huffs, allowing you to help him out of the brand new away strip he had been given at the beginning of the day today for his first first game with the new team.

His muscles are achy and tight, body still stiff from the cold that the rain had battered into his limbs as you easily hook off his boxers and tug them down his legs so he can step over the bathtub into the perfect temperature bubble filled water that makes him heave out a heavy sigh of relief the second it meets his skin.

"Talk to me, baby?"

And talk to you he did after he sat down in that bath with you.

He leaned back against you, allowing you to lather shampoo into the hair he trusted very few people with multiple times to massage the ache out of his skull from the previous days tension headaches. He talks about all those messages from so many unhappy people, some even City fans who didn't even want to entertain the idea of him being there. He talks about his worry of sitting on the bench season after season, telling you he was hoping to god those tweets wouldn't be further from the truth. He confided in you some of his greatest pains; the concept that he'd let his Villa teammates down and maybe even made his family unhappy despite the fact they had given him nothing but their full support and unsurprising pride just like everybody else in his immediate circle.

They'll get to play with the teams kids on the pitch after the games no matter how tired the guys are even if they've been thrashed in a loss. He depicts the kind of life you had both wanted for so long, somehow always deterred by something until right this moment, the time feeling like it had rolled perfectly into place for both of you.

And Jack tells you about how you'll poke fun at him when he starts to get those salt and pepper strands of hair and he'll love you no matter how you look. Your kids will learn what love is from their parents, they'll pick it up and they'll emulate it in their own lives sometime in the future. They'll stamp out hate with the hearts full of love that you will both allow those kids to grow into.

You both fall asleep together that night, wrapped in each others arms drifting off into dreams of kids that don't exist yet in a house you haven't even looked for with a future that each of you wants nothing more than to grab onto with both hands.

Jack's heart hurts for the changes he's made this week. He doubts the pain will ever fully leave him and he hopes that one day his club will welcome him back to end his career on a high note with them. However, until then the pain will be dulled by the prospect of his new future here.

Greece is just one of those little places in the corner of the world that is so indescribably beautiful, it’s quite hard not to get carried away romanticising every aspect of life. Every square inch of landcape and culture like a scene from movie. The white pebbled walls of the narrow cobbled streets shimmered in the warm sunlight of the day, as the moonlight of the night reflected on the calm and soothing ocean. That’s why when Mason Mount and his family, who were long time family friends of your own invited you all on holiday with them after the Euros, you couldn’t refuse, instead accepting without a sprinkle of hesitatioan. It was an opportunity for everyone to get together after a good length of time and spend time with each other whilst winding down in the peacefulness of their Mykonos villa.

As you all sat in a delicately decorated restaurant in the town overlooking the sea, you took another sip of your cocktail before turning your head to the side to watch the waves crashing against the rocky shore below. You had just finished having a delicious evening meal and everyone was engaged in various different chats. That was excerpt for one person. Mason, who was directly across from you was the only one not in conversation, rather his attention on you. His eyes fixated, twinkling as he watched your every move with awe. Noticing his presence facing towards you, you turned back and smiled. Confused, you waited for him to react. But he didn’t. He just focused on you even more, like he was inspecting every feature of your beauty. You furrowed your eyebrows and mouthed a little ‘what’ with a silent giggle. He responded simply by shaking his head a little to indicate he meant nothing by it and smirked, causing a frenzy of butterflies to start fluttering in your stomach.

Because you were both adults now, you hadn’t seen Mase in a good few years. You weren’t really as close anymore because you had both moved on with your lives obviously, but despite that one thing had and probably always would remain the same everytime you did catch up. And that, was your crush on him. Well, it wasn’t really so much a crush anymore as there was no real feelings there, but you definitely did fancy him. And more and more with each passing moment in his company. Blushing ever so slightly and nodding awkwardly, you took a deep breath and looked back down at your empty glass. Tony, Mason’s dad, quickly thanked the waitress at the end of the table and gave her back the payed bill. “We all ready to go then?” He asked. Everyone approved and began shuffling out of their seats and to the exit of the restaurant.

Upon arrival back to the villa, everyone began drinking a bit more and sharing old stories and memories around a cosy chiminea under a starry night sky until late in the night. It was so nice to just get a break away from everything whilst spending time with the people who mattered the most. Eventually, everyone began to drift off to bed, until it was just you and Mase left alone. Sitting across from him on a cushiony outdoor couch, you yawned before finished your bottle of beer and standing up.

“I think I’m gonna head to bed too if that’s alright with you?” You smiled at him, fixing your silky black dress that had slightly hitched up at the side. Coming up to meet you, he quickly squeezed your hand, stopping you in your tracks and preventing you from moving anymore.

“Wait..” he began as he towered over you, his eyes with a fire of their own burning in them. Biting his lip, he quickly glanced down at yours, then back up. Shivers were sent down your spine, your core tingling with nerves and exhilaration. His breath was warm on top of your face as he inched toward you even more. Gulping, he parted his lips again. “There’s just.. something about the way you look tonight Y/N..” Exhaling now yourself, there was a tense silence between you both as you simply just gazed at each other. Your eyes begged him to close the distance. Moving the hand he was using to intertwine his fingers with yours, he snaked it around your waist and pulled you in to him, his other hand scooping up your cheek. Finally, his mouth met yours and you began exploring each other with your tongues, a hand running his dark locks.

As the kissing intensified, you felt his hand on your thigh, moving up the hem of your dress. As his fingers traced the rim of your thong, you let out a soft breath. You wanted him so badly. You couldn’t begin to explain it. Just as his fingers began to rub your folds and clit, you whispered almost inaudibly with pleasure.

“Maybe we should uh.. take this inside..” you trailed off.
