After 1 million years, I have finally finished Mourynn's hair timeline!! I intend to do the same for her outfit(s) later as well (as it changes to match her hair bc she wears customized cultural armour) but I'll do those one at a time. Tbh I'm just happy that I was somehow able to achieve the hairstyle I had originally been planning for her since her creation (side-swept/half "shaved" hairstyle) and doing this exercise filled in her character progress changes and eventually lead to what I originally wanted! (also the default swept back hair is surprisingly hard to replicate so uh, I had to figure out something easier for myself Anywho, I have some abridged summary details for each hairstyle/story chapter under the cut to give these a bit more context Edit: I MESSED UP SOMETHING WITH THE TEXT ON THE ICEBROOD SAGA BIT. Mourynn in her Orchid outfit during the early years! (albeit a bit modified bc I didn't want to draw feet or the swirly things, thus made up shoes for her instead. Which still works as she gets heels later uwu). I'm also aware I never do the Sylvari glow right, but I don't want to overwhelm the ref with so much glow so I only did the extremities, but technically I think it would reach all the way along the leaves and such. Just pretend it's doing that. I also decided to permanently give her the Orchid wingies as part of her body since they thematically match her wrist/ankle appendages (as I have all of that for the sake of her Leafy Seadragon inspirations) + will appear on her Mordy Scion form as well (aka any leaves with the dark blue = part of body/appendages/hair, any other colour/hue = outfit). I actually had wanted them originally on her custom outfit, but changed it back then and now I have put it back again, hehe (so aesthetically they look different than the actual armour version too to match everything else). Got Mourynn's first fullbody ref done! (I mean first as in chronologically). Not much to say here, just getting some early year fullbody refs done so I can have them to start on some scenes and lore stuff (just gotta finish her Orchid outfit next since that's her main Sapling outfit before she makes her own custom one). I'm also not used to drawing this small so I messed up the face a bit, on the side there, but oh well.

Mourynn's Greatsword that she grew and shaped herself (and all it's stages as it grew into one). I never came up with a name for it yet, but idk if it'll have one, but if it does, I'll decide on it later lol. I wasn't so sure if I overdid it with the glowing (or if it was unnecessary or if the colours clashed), but lots of folks seemed to have liked it, so I am glad I was probably just overthinking it, haha. I also got hella lazy with the flowers, so they look kinda meh. I still have to decide at what iterations of the GS she uses in her time line, but I'll figure that out later (maybe she won't use any of them until it fully grows? idk...), and I'm also gonna hold off on doing Reformed Caladbolg until later too (so I can get started/focus on early year lore drawings for Mourynn. I just need to finish these refs for myself first so I can actually get started on it lmao). Below the cut is just the lineart and reformed Caladbolg WIP:

Sketchdump 2023

Since I don't really have enough (or at least what I'd consider to be enough) art that I'd like to compile, I'm going to do an "end of the year sketchdump" instead (tbh I don't usually do yearly summaries of anything because I'm lazy af and usually don't care, but there is a lot of WIPs that I never used or shown, and I'd been wanting to do sketchdump posts anyways, so this feels like a good way to do it!)

Start with WIPs of things I've finished:

Things I'm still working on: - I'm still working on her Scion appearance. It's just on hold for the moment so I can work on more lore so I'm not stuck in world building mode forever. - the third one is to show her alien-looking maw (that splits open on both top and bottom) and her hyper-terraformation beam (aka her "dragon breath"). Super quick messy whatever, but hopefully it sort of still comes across - the Charr one is just a super basic trial of figuring out her Charr disguise design for IBS+ (she's going to get an Asura one too). This is also my excuse to make in-between Sylvari Charr/Asura looks for her too since she sucks at disguises and has to "shape" her body first before applying the Mesmer disguise over top. I still have to finish designing these as well

Things I've discarded/older Mourynn design concepts: - old outfit look that was changed a bit. Tbh I still really like this outfit design, the only reason why I scrapped it was because I wanted something that was easier to replicate and visualize at all angles - she still has Mawdrey! she helps hold her Greatsword and other things (kid of a handy symbiotic relationship where Mawdrey just chills there and occasionally does things for comedic timing or convenience purposes. Mawdrey kind of functions as a sentient set of semi-extra limbs that she uses sometimes. Mawdrey mostly exists in her first form when dormant when Mourynn has her (easier to draw and keeps her more hidden) - I was trying to figure out what to do with her shoulders. It's still a bit tricky to figure out how to do the collar at side-angles, I think I need to get more refs in game from the NMC set to see how it looks properly lol - the last one here is the forbidden first draft of me trying to figure out Mourynn's design. I just wasn't feeling this look + this wasn't that easy to replicate or visualize/had too much going on.

Fan service to myself (with my Sylvari OC Mourynn) being a flustered mess as usual, mistaking everything Peitha says as flirting (is she wrong tho? :3c). Basing this off of a headcanon that many of us share being that Peitha also has a huge, more gnarly demon form like her siblings (and Mourynn has her dragon one for context). Also this is meant to portray her talking in her mind. Thank you for my new hot demon wife, Anet. I'm smooching her every day u///u (and now Mourynn can be in a throuple with Caithe and Peitha bc I said so)

Mourynn, my GW2 OC's bio page! This is just meant to be a simplified breakdown of her character where I will branch out (lol) to all the other aspects in detail in their own separate posts/drawings. I just wanted her bio to me more visual instead of all just text, and I also included some inspirations with a little background info to fill in some blanks (which will be expanded upon later as well). to note: - she does, for the most part, follow the canonical Commander storyline, except not EVERY part and with not the same exact personality of the in game player character either (tbh I don't think anyone's Commander OCs do so I suppose this is obvious lol) - allowing her to still play the Commander role (to a slightly lesser degree but still just enough) allows me to integrate her into all areas of Tyria, and with a more diverse set of experiences and characters to interact with and keep her involved in the major storyline (ESPECIALLY with the Elder Dragon storyline. I'm going to have lots of fun with those interactions and experiences) - this also opens more doors for giving her unique experiences in these different zones with different characters that don't happen in game (since it's easier for me to work with an existing storyline instead fo fully creating a new one. Uses up less of my brain battery) - this also allows me to poke fun at some things in game with Mourynn in character bc I have SO many things saved up that are highly amusing to me and this way I can use a bunch of my saved screenshots to my potential. - I'm also taking advantage of a bunch of plot holes and other spans of time (such as the Firstborn Era before the Secondborn came about) Her dragon form will have it's own page (with inspirations) since there is lots I still need to design and showcase, and I wanted it to have it's own separate focus! Everything will make more sense once it's all done (such as explaining how a firstborn and scion(?) are to exist at the same time, I have a fun way to which I wanna explain it once I'm done the dragon bio page). I'll also have a separate breakdown of her Elite spec and showing/explaining what it does and how it works bc it was a lot of fun to create.

Anyways this is a VERY self indulgent OC, and since I only ever make one OC (since they're almost always a self-insert to some degree with me), she's going to be very spoiled and will allow me to give her lots of attention and have fun with all the dynamics. I also can't mentally handle more than one OC bc that is WAY too overwhelming for me lol.

Detailed refs for my  Sylvari OC, Mourynn! (finally freed after living in my head for 2-3 years). I wanted to give her a fun, unique look, and because I’m obsessed with cultural armour, I wanted to design her something myself (which canonically it’s more like she designed her own outfit lol).  I mostly just made these refs for myself (easier mental visualization, drawing consistency reasons + just figuring it all out logistically, and in case I need them if I ever commission or art trade with anyone). I’m also just just very thorough (which is fine by me since I only ever have one OC and she’s my one and only for GW2, so she gets all my attention, haha). The other reason why I had to go a bit overboard with this is because it’s literally impossible for her to exist in game (I even had to invent an elite spec for her to fit her lore, and since her face and outfit are also unique, I literally cannot make her in game. However I do have a character that I stole her name from, but that’s about it lol).
