Former NFL quarterback teams with Devils to help paralyzed 22-year-old player. Ex-quarterback Boomer Esiason and his radio partner Gregg Giannotti will play in a charity game with Devils alumni including Bryce Salvador, Ken Daneyko, and Bruce Driver. According to nhl.com, the event is the fifth annual Mikey Strong Charity Hockey Game and is held for Mikey Nichols, who was paralyzed in a hockey game. Proceeds from the event will benefit spinal cord research and quality-of-life initiatives. The first 5,000 fans at the event will receive a voucher for two complimentary tickets to a New York Yankees game during the 2019 season and an added promotion this year are two tickets to see the MLS New York Red Bulls in 2019 and the Devils in 2019-20. This event ties into the push for greater safety in sport, which can be seen with new rules around children heading the ball in soccer and new high tech components used for football helmets.

Ryan Sheckler’s foundation announces $10,000 Be the Change grant recipients and their 10th annual Skate For a Cause tour stops. According to the Associated Press, the Foundation will donate a total of $100,000 to causes across the United States that back its core mission for supporting injured action sports athletes and children in need. For the last nine years, Skate For A Cause has been a local event that features a world-class skate jam and carnival aimed to help raise funds for Sheckler’s “Be the Change” initiative. Now in its 10th year, the Sheckler Foundation is taking Skate For a Cause on a 10-city nationwide demo tour including cities like Houston, Rapid City, Minneapolis, New York, Sacramento, and others. Skateboarding has a culture of family and by giving back to injured action sport athletes, Sheckler is helping to tie even tighter bonds throughout the larger skating community.

LAS VEGAS, EE.UU.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CES® 2017 abrió oficialmente sus puertas hoy, para celebrar el 50.o aniversario de la exposición con un piso de exhibición sin precedentes que ocupa más de 242.000 metros cuadrados netos. Más de 3800 compañías lanzarán productos innovadores esta semana en el CES, con un récord de 600 nuevas empresas que participan en Eureka Park. CES 2017 es propiedad de la Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, que además lo produce, y se celebrará hasta el domingo 8 de enero en Las Vegas, Nevada.
