5 hc game: au where Aizawa is nearby and saves Tenko, as he wouldn't ignore a lost toddler with blood on their hands

You narrowly won a kindness in a poll and so I shall not be tricksome and derail this prompt to the existing ten^3 au where Aizawa would be a minor character

1- so a first-year student Aizawa is walking to UA one day and hears something in an alley. He thinks it's a cat and goes to look, instead finding A Whole Child who has clearly seen better days. He tries to ask the kid what's wrong, show the UA uniform and that he's gonna be a hero, but the kid just shies away. When Aizawa gets closer, Tenko reaches out to touch a trashcan next to him, which turns to dust and spills the trash out.

2- "Oh. Can you not control your quirk?" He asks, and gets a little headshake. "And you don't want to hurt me?" A nod.

"That's ok, I can erase quirks, see?" His eyes glow yellow and his hair floats up. He tosses Tenko a trashed chip bag, and when Tenko picks it up, it doesn't decay.

Tenko throws his arms around Aizawa's neck and bursts into tears.

3- now extremely uncomfortable, and erasure no longer active, Aizawa stands up. He figures it's not the end of the world if his UA jacket gets decayed, or even his shirt, he'll just pull an Oboro and change into his gym clothes. But he does decide he needs to get this kid to the real heroes at UA who can actually handle this.

That plan is derailed when, after some time walking, a very tall man with white hair in a suit steps out into the street, frowning that someone took the kid before him. The frown deepens when he calls for Tenko Shimura, and the kid just cries harder, leading Aizawa to look back, activate erasure, and start running

4- Aizawa doesn't go to UA, he knows it's clear from his uniform where he would. It's also clear from the chaos behind him that erupts as soon as his stinging eyes blink shut that whoever that is, he's a villain and bad news. Instead, he hides and calls Oboro, then hangs up when he hears Oboro isn't at school, then calls Hizashi, who is. "Tell sensei a villain tried to kidnap a five year old and is currently after both of us." Then he hangs up, and calls the police.

5- Aizawa keeps moving and hiding with Tenko, trying to stay away from the apparently very powerful villain, but is really only saved by All Might appearing and AfO making the choice to leave because he did not want to ensure All Might actually finds Tenko first- after all, he can get the kid later from UA, and the absolutely fascinating quirk of the boy who grabbed him too.

AfO does not predict that as soon as Recovery Girl hears Tenko's name, she calls Gran Torino and has him race to UA right away. Initially he was only going to take and hide Tenko, but Tenko refused to leave without his hero Aizawa, and Gran agreed that he had made himself a target of AfO too. Aizawa, who is again, like fifteen years old, is very put out by this but at this point, he's stuck with them so.

‘ mirio-san..... are you okay? ‘ eri wasn’t good at reading people or talking to people in general. But she quietly walked into his room without him noticing it seemed like he was crying. For what she didn’t know. She mind raced, thinking he was hurting from the events that went down to save her, before she started to back away, holding tears him herself. ‘ I’m sorry..... for everything. I’m sorry. ‘ she didn’t know what else to say so she ran out the room.

     pain and sorrow was kept exclusively to himself — after watching nighteye pass , mirio swore to never let anyone see him upset . no one needed more suffering after the tragedy overhaul presented . but it hurt , his mind , his body , his soul . quirk was gone , nighteye was gone … body was still trying to figure out what to do with loss of a quirk . thinking he was out of sight , mirio openly cried , back facing the door , tears freely running down his cheeks ; teeth clenched and ground together , muffling the sounds of his sobs . it was so hard to be strong all the time . 

     he didn’t hear eri come in , too wrapped up in himself and his upset to notice her . shaking shoulders froze , hands quickly coming up to wipe at his face , sniffling . she apologized … again . mirio doesn’t know what to do — there’s momentary panic before she takes off . “ eri ! ” there’s no time for honorifics before he’s launching himself over the bed to take chase . “ eri , wait ! ” body isn’t used to such a solid feeling , and the blond finds himself slamming shoulder into the doorway as he makes his turn , hand shooting out to grip the door frame . frantic eyes tore up and down the hallway , and he takes off to look for her . hands grabbed nurses’ arms , asking if they’d seen a little girl running through .

     “ eri ! ” boy speeds through the hospital , checking everywhere . he couldn’t find her . he’s a little worse for wear when he finally finds her , chest heaving , breaths taken in generous gulps . amiable smile forces its way to his lips , once again putting on that facade of strength . everything sucks , but he can get through it ! he’s mirio ! the former hero doesn’t approach fully , knowing she might want to run away again , but instead sits on the floor , arms resting on his legs . “ you know , you’re really hard to find ! you must be good at hide and seek ! ” 

     mirio knows her seeing him cry wasn’t something to just ignore , so after a moment of his redirection failing , the blond prompts the girl over , brows furrowing . “ i’ll say it again — there’s nothing i would’ve done differently . if i had the chance to save you , i would , there’s nothing that would change that fact . but you know … ” sometimes the world just really sucks . gods , it made him want to scream - why he didn’t save her sooner , how he was incapable of saving nighteye , how he caused this entire problem because he didn’t stop it right there in that alleyway . lemillion just wasn’t a strong enough hero to save everyone . “ i’m sorry i keep making you cry , eri - chan , you don’t deserve that . ”

     pensive smile grew more reassuring . gaze fell to his lap , hands clenching into fists , fingernails pressing crescents into his palms . mirio finally releases one hand to wave her closer and sit her in his lap , offering a more tired smile . “ sometimes we have to sacrifice our happiness for a little bit to be able to give it to someone else . and you know what ? i’m giving mine to you . if you’re happy , i’m happy . you’re safe , you’re here with us — with midoriya - kun , and aizawa - sensei , and so many others ! i’m sure hado - san would love to play with your hair some more , and tamaki loves making you smile as much as i do . ”

     head leans back against the door he’d stopped in , eyes closing for a moment . “ i’m happy you’re here , eri - chan , i really am . ” voice is tired — he’s expended too much energy trying to find her . quirkless body is strange , and for the first time in his life he’s experiencing low levels of vertigo . headaches surge and he’s reeling , trying to catch his bearings . “ there’s no need to apologize … i’m happy you’re here . nothing is your fault , i promise . ” 

                                i won’t cry anymore , i promise .
