Elegant And Enchanted Evenings With John Lloyd Young At Cafe Carlyle
John Lloyd Young and Cafe Carlyle have a long, magical history together.
He is part of a storied group of artists and performers who have, and continue, to grace the Carlyle stage - a legendary and quintessential part of classic New  York.
And this past week, JLY celebrated that history while bringing it into the future...elegant, creative, prolific...and more enchanting than ever.
That future began with his new musical director, Jacquelyn Schreiber, taking her seat at the piano - preparing as JLY was introduced, with him walking from the bar area to the front, and beginning the set with his classic rendition of  “My Prayer”, commanding the stage from the first note.
He then moved into some new material for this Carlyle residency, making each song his own with his brilliant interpretations. Roy Orbison’s “Love Hurts” is a perfect fit for him, rich and emotional.  And he told some of his wonderful Little Anthony stories as he took us on a journey with “I’m On The Outside Looking In”, which is one of several songs that continue to play in our minds long after the performance.
JLY has mentioned a few times about how much he loves history, so playing the Carlyle and sharing some of its incredible history with the audience is as enjoyable for him as it is for us. He motions around the room to various sections of the incredible murals by Oscar-winning French artist, Marcel Vertès, pointing out certain characteristics and techniques. Then he talks about the the first person to own an apartment/condo at the Carlyle, Richard Rodgers, while musing about the songs that may have been inspired here. It’s the perfect segue into his beautiful, romantic version of “I Have Dreamed” from The King And I.
He blows us away with Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet”, then comes around the room to greet and serenade us with “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me”...which is always a thrill.  JLY has a special way of connecting with friends and fans, and new audience members, that puts him in a class by himself.  And we of course get to hear one of our favorites, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, stronger than ever, and complete with audience participation.
Next up is Nat King Cole’s “Let There Be Love”, featuring Jacquelyn’s extraordinary jazz piano skills and JLY’s luxurious baritone.  They play off each  other well, and the future is bright for this creative partnership.
We head back into Jersey Boys territory - but with a definite jazz influence.  After some of JLY’s entertaining stories about making the Jersey Boys movie, he performs a breathtaking “Moody’s Mood For Love” - forget Frankie and Bob for a minute...at this moment, the line “I need to write for this voice” pertains to JLY and JLY alone.  Creating anything for his wonderful, versatile vocal instrument is something any writer and/or musician would be honored to do.  This is followed up by the always beautiful “My Eyes Adored You”, fresh and new with Jacquelyn on harmony.
JLY explained next that sometimes when he and his fellow Broadway castmates were invited to perform for events, they weren’t given permission to sing the songs from the show - so Ron Melrose, the arranger and musical director for Jersey Boys, came up with a workaround...and one of the songs for this was “I Only Have Eyes For You”, which JLY performed to perfection in this set at Cafe Carlyle.
The next two songs were absolute standouts (even though every song in the set remains in my head at various times throughout the day) because of JLY’s ingenious vocals and interpretation of Jacquelyn’s inventive arrangements.  She might be new to being the musical director, but she completely owns it, and her creativity knows no bounds. “The Air That I Breathe” is so touchingly beautiful, and JLY’s voice both soothing and emotional - the perfect adult lullaby.  And he takes us on a full journey through “Both Sides Now”, giving even more meaning to Joni Mitchell’s lyrics and giving us more food for thought.
On the final evening of JLY’s residency, former Ambassador to Finland, Robert Pence, and his wife Suzy, were there along with their friends.  Ambassador Pence had requested a special song for his friends, which JLY learned especially for this evening.  “One In A Million You” was outstanding, and I hope that he performs it again in the future.
JLY finished the evening with “Maybe I’m Amazed”,  and I still have a hard time listening to Sir Paul McCartney’s original because I prefer JLY’s even more.  Then we were all up on our feet for “Sherry”...I would say going out on a high note, but in reality, the entire set was filled with high notes.
John Lloyd Young and Cafe Carlyle go hand in hand...the perfect fit for past, present, and future.  With all of the new material and creative influences, I can’t wait to see what’s next. And I am so glad that we are all along on the journey with him!

Any must have rides to do or places to go when at Disney
*cracks knuckles*
Well since you asked....
For rides, at MK I'd definitely recommend Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain (if you like coasters), Thunder Mountain (if you like coasters), jingle cruise, the people mover, and Pooh bear cause its cute af. For food, 10/10 recommend Casey's Corner, I dream of their hot dogs 😂 if yoh want more of a sit down restaurant, skippers canteen is great! But if you have picky eaters, The Plaza and Tony's are also good choices.
Epcot rides: Spaceship earth, the ratatouille ride (if you don't mind 3D), GoTG coasters (if you like coasters), soarin!, and test track! For food, we could be here all day 😂 epcot has the best food, especially with the world showcase but if you're looking for a sit-down restaurant, I recommend La Hacienda, Rose and Crown, and (if you have picky eaters) The Garden Grille.
Hollywood studios rides: Rise of the Resistance (idc if you're a star wars fan or not, it's AMAZING), rocking Rollercoaster (if you like coasters), tower of terror (if you like drop rides), slinky dog coaster (very mild), and star tours. Bonus! Not TECHNICALLY a ride but the Muppet 3d show is one of my favorite shows so def recommend checking it out. For food, Woody's Lunchbox is great! Gets really crowded though so fair warning. For a sit down, mama Melrose is *chefs kiss* and for picky eaters, the ABC commissary has a plethora of options.
ALSO ! The Fantasmic fireworks show (its amazing and possibly one of my favorite shows) does dinner packages with certain restaurants. Def check it out!
Animal Kingdom Rides: kilamanjaro safari!! Avatar's the flight of passage (if you don't mind 3D), mount everest coaster (if you don't mind cossters), and, though not a ride, the festival of the lion king show is GREAT!! It's for all ages and it's so fun! For food: the yak and Yeti restaurant is a MUST! If you can't get a resi, they also have quick service options outside the restaurant! Also recommend the Tusker House for picky eaters!
Disney springs: food wise, you have a million options but for me, Chef Art Smith's Homecoming is a MUST! Best fried chicken, BBQ pulled pork, AND Mac and cheese ❤️ raglan road is also an excellent choice! As is Enzo's hideaway and the Boathouse! For picky eaters, rainforest Cafe and planet Hollywood are great choices, and if you're more in the mood for something quick, earl's sandwiches, The polite pig, and chicken guy are great options. For me, a Disney trip isn't complete w/out stopping at Ghirardelli's ice cream ❤️
Hope this was helpful!

Things To Do In The Area
Downtown Los Angeles
This is where the hotels in our room blocks are located so these are some great things to do if you don’t want to go far.
For art, you can check out The Broad which is a museum that's free to visit with reservations. Ongoing exhibitions include Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jenny Holzer, Andy Warhol, Barbara Kruger, Roy Lichtenstein, and many more iconic artists.
Grand Central Market is a great place to grab delicious food, as well as get unique jewelry and check out a vintage photo booth. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings they also have a bazaar featuring local makers.
The Last Bookstore is one of the largest independent bookstores in the country, and it's disabled owned. You can browse a large labyrinth of $1 books, find hidden passageways, view art galleries and book sculptures, as well as browse a large collection of vinyl records.
Little Tokyo has lots of options for shopping, eating, and usually spotting some great street fashion. Sunright Tea Studio has great boba, SomiSomi has delicious taiyaki soft serve, and stores like Popkiller, Q Pop, and Kinukuniya are fun shops to stop at.
Precinct DTLA is also a fabulous gay bar downtown that regularly hosts fun parties, drag shows, and events. Check the calendar on their website to see what's going on.
Echo Park
If you want something closer to the venue to explore before the ceremony, check out Echo Park Lake. There's beautiful scenery, animals, a small cafe, picnic tables and some swan peddle boats that you can rent to boat around the lake.
Hollywood
If you're willing to take a short drive of course we recommend checking out Hollywood! We live here so it's where we know the most to do.
La Brea Ave has vintage shopping. We especially recommend Golyester Vintage (which is where Lee got his wedding suit!) as well as The Way We Wore and Recess for browsing some iconic designer and high-end pieces.
If you're into history, we heavily recommend checking out the La Brea Tar Pits while you're in the area. It's a paleontologic excavation site and you can see a variety of fossils and recreations that bring prehistoric animals to life.
Melrose Avenue also has great vintage and modern stores, as well as amazing food. We love eating at Pink's Hot Dogs (a famous LA hot dog stand that's well worth it's long lines), Nomoo (great vegan burgers) and The Village Idiot (fish & chips). Crossroads Trading often has great deals on vintage and Posers LA has punk clothes and accessories, among many other fabulous stores on the street.
West Hollywood also has great gay bars, and gay restaurants, and gay mechanics, and gay dog groomers. You get the gist.

the next subplot we wanted to reveal was our melrose strip subplot. melrose is a neighborhood in nashville that is known, specifically, for the local businesses and restaurants. the different owners and employees of these businesses get to know each other pretty well by spending their workdays in neighboring buildings. these specific businesses — a bridal shop named the blushing bride, next chapter: cafe and bookstore, a casual lunch-and-drink pub named local, eufloria (a flower shop), and the athens ink tattoo parlor — all line up along melrose strip. spending time together during their day-to-day lives on lunch breaks and during free time has crafted a bond between these different workers. they collaborate on sales and events, but sometimes they are a little bit competitive, too.

All About Amy Robach Net Worth
An American news reporter named Amy Robach is worth $20 million. Amy's ex-husband Andrew Shue, a professional actor who went on to become a very successful internet entrepreneur, is responsible for a portion of her wealth. American television reporter Amy Robach has worked primarily for ABC News and has appeared on programs like "Good Morning America." and "20/20." The creator of Cafemom.com, a website aimed towards mothers and women, is Andrew Shue. It has occasionally been among the most popular female-focused websites online. Eventually, Cafemom changed into Cafe Media, which is now among the biggest and most prosperous online ad representation companies.
Career
Robach started working in broadcast journalism in 1995 at the Charleston, South Carolina, television station WCBD. She stayed there until 1999, when she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for WTTG. Then, in 2003, she relocated to MSNBC, where she worked for four years. She was able to start anchoring at this period and occasionally stepped in for guests on programs like "Morning Joe," "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," and "Weekend Today."  She was appointed "Weekend Today's" official co-anchor in 2007. She stayed in that position up until May 2012, when she declared she was heading to ABC News.
Robach made appearances as a correspondent on "Good Morning America" before joining ABC News. It was revealed that she would take over as the show's anchor in March 2014. She stayed in that position up until 2018, when she changed to co-anchor 20/20. The two-hour Friday night program, which was viewed as a rival to "Dateline NBC," contained true crime tales, human interest stories, and longer investigative pieces.
Robach began to host "Pandemic: What You Need to Know" on ABC in March 2020. The daytime program, which took the place of the "Strahan, Sara & Keke" show, concentrated on the coronavirus pandemic in the US.
The network eventually chose to switch the program to "GMA3: What You Need to Know," that covered a wider range of topics as the pandemic lost its news value. Robach continued to host the program.
In 1996, Robach wed Tim McIntosh. Before deciding to end their 12-year marriage, the pair filed for separation in 2008. Two daughters were born to them during their marriage: The first daughter, Ava was born in 2002, and the second daughter, Analise, was born in 2006.
Early life
Robach made an engagement announcement a year after her divorce to artist Andrew Shue, a former star of "Melrose Place." The previous year, the two had connected at a book party. In 2010, the pair got hitched at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers by the Hudson River in New York City on Robach's 37th birthday. For more details visit: https://networthpost.org/amy-robach-net-worth/

11:30pm
I went to sleep so late last night to finish up most of my assignments, I think I finally got into bed at 7:00am. I only got 3 hours of sleep since I woke up at 10:00am. However, I was excited for the day, since I was going thrifting with a couple of my friends at Melrose. It was so much fun, we chose each other's outfits and my friends looked so boujee. I got a beef/lamb gyro laffa wrap from Oui and it was so delicious. After I came back from thrifting, I sat on Janss steps with my friends and caught up with her. Afterwards, I got B-plate with my friends and I got chicken, bok choy, rice, and yogurt. I then got dumplings at Northern Cafe with my friend and we ate so much! Now I am doing homework and catching up on my other assignments. Overall today was fun but I'm extremely tired.

"the magazine" interview with celebrity Publicist & CEO DES DUHFAUX
"the magazine" interview with celebrity Publicist & CEO DES DUHFAUX
Exclusive Interview conducted by Jenny Sullivan
Right across the street from one of the most famed retailers in the world on Melrose Ave. I met with Celebrity Publicist & CEO OF fortune 500 company MEAUX Haus international, which is a pr agency for some of the biggest names in the Hollywood industry & most other parts of the world. Wearing a crisp white dress shirt, khaki shorts & camel ankle boots, Des is a little bit taller and more striking than her pictures portray her.
We immediately sat down at a little cafe and had a few sips of lemon water before delving into hot topics.
JS: Hey Des! how are you? Are you ready to dish all of the juicy celebrity info to "the magazine"?
DD: (giggles), yea I guess so.
JS: Great! so can you tell us a little bit about how you got into the publicity business?
DD: hmm..well basically when I left Burbank high school in zone 2, I enrolled at Parsons school of design and completed my certificate in interior design. I had a lot of luck early on with networking to meet new clients and basically about 2 years later, I decided to drop the interior design gigs & become a freelance celebrity Publicist. But you know, the industry expects a lot these days from people trying to make their name in the business, so I enrolled at UCLA at began studying marketing management.
JS: Interesting, ok so we're you able to attain a degree there?
Tumblr media
DD: yes I graduated without honors, so have a BS in marketing management. shortly thereafter I enrolled at UC Irvine and got my certificate in public relations. So at that point I hooked up with my esteemed colleague Suzette Feria who is also my Co-CEO and we started our own pr agency, MHI .
JS: Wow, sounds good, so you and Suzette were great friends before starting the agency?
DD: Suzette and I are cousins and blood sisters in the universe. we are bound together by media (laughs), but she is currently working on other ventures

John Lloyd Young At View Arts Center and Cafe Carlyle - Creating Magic For Every Season
John Lloyd Young knows how to bring the magic alive - wherever he performs, and whatever the season.
It's just about the end of summer and the beginning of fall, and JLY wove the two together seamlessly...first with his entertaining summer Unchained Melodies set at View Arts Center in Old Forge, then opening the fall season at Cafe Carlyle in NYC with class and style.
Whenever JLY performs at View, it is in many ways a homecoming for him. He grew up in the Upstate New York and Adirondacks region, and several friends and relatives from the area are in the audience - along with other friends and fans from all over the country. It's always special for all of us to experience the homecoming with him, as he shares special stories with the music, and raises the roof of Gould Hall.
He opened the evening with a powerful "My Prayer", then went right into his lovely, charming version of "I Have Dreamed", showcasing his rich baritone and connection with the audience.
Before the rest of the set, JLY introduced his friend and fellow Brown University theatre alumnus Andrew Hertz accompanying him on the piano...and told a couple of stories of sharing musical theatre knowledge on the university's radio station. The joy that they have collaborating was evident throughout the night.
JLY brought out some of our favorites, like the soulful "Show And Tell", and the passionate "Unchained Melody", which he mentioned always makes his aunt cry whenever he performs it. He came around into the audience for "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" and "Cara Mia", to the delight of everyone in attendance. It always amazes me how well he works his way around the room - especially in a larger venue - to connect with as many people as he can as he spies both new and familiar faces throughout the room.
He performed some Jersey Boys favorites as well - "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "My Eyes Adored You", "Moody's Mood For Love", and "Big Girls Don't Cry" - while telling stories about the making of the movie. He also included a story about "Big Girls Don't Cry" from his trip to Cuba as part of the arts delegation, which segued well into his stories of singing to and with Smokey Robinson there as he performed a stunning "Ooh Baby Baby".
JLY also performed his beautiful interpretation of "I Only Have Eyes For You", arranged by Ron Melrose for Jersey Boys, and showed his incredible vocal range on "Only The Lonely". I still think he would be the perfect person to play Roy Orbison in a biopic as well.
He completed the evening with everyone on their feet for "Sherry", and everyone talking about what an incredible show it was. For the lady sitting next to me, it was her first time experiencing a JLY performance. She loved every minute, and will be back whenever he performs again at View. It's a musical homecoming that everyone looks forward to every year.
Two days later, JLY opened the fall season in NYC at Cafe Carlyle. He is the perfect choice to open the 2023 Fall Season, as he fits the Carlyle so well with his combination of talent, humor, class, and style.
He included some of the songs from the View set, like "My Prayer", "Show And Tell", "Only The Lonely", and "I Have Dreamed" - which was preceded by the story of how Richard Rodgers was the first person to own an apartment at the Carlyle. He also talked about the history of Cafe Carlyle, including the incredible murals by Academy Award winner Marcel Vertès. You can tell just how much JLY appreciates the rich history of the Carlyle, which makes him the perfect ambassador for them.
He also did most of the Jersey Boys songs from the previous set, complete with audience participation, exciting stories, and that iconic voice that that takes your breath away.
JLY came around the room to all of us for "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me", which really is always a thrill. He also included a few different songs in this set.
One of these was "Nevertheless" - JLY's musical director and pianist for this special night at Cafe Carlyle was Ron Abel, and they did the arrangement of this song that they had done at 54 Below in January. It was truly breathtaking. JLY and Ron also collaborate well together, especially on their arrangement of Nell Carter's "Mean To Me". JLY already blew us away on this song when he debuted it last year, and now it's even more stunning. His vocal range is always out of this world - but this song takes it to an even greater level.
It was so good to hear "Since I Fell For You" in the set again, along with the unreleased Orbison track "Say No More", which is stronger and more emotional than ever.
JLY finished the evening with "Maybe I'm Amazed" (I will always stress how his version surpasses Sir Paul's) and some singing and dancing along to "Sherry", as we all left on a high that still continues long after the performance.
John Lloyd Young is truly a man and performer for all seasons. With a voice like his, you can't help but be moved, inspired, and amazed. I am so glad that we are all on this magical journey with him, and look forward to what the next season and all future seasons bring!

Last week I spotted this Dior pop-up on Melrose, and I just had to check it out. This pop-up featured a collab men’s collection ERL. It was giving vintage Venice Beach with its collection of classic cars and skate and surf decor. Of course, they also had a Dior Cafe with cute little bites while the men’s fashion show was displayed on a big screen.
If you wanna read me going on and on about this thing, subscribe to my Tumblr. Otherwise, if you’re in LA you should definitely check it out. It’s open until February 12

The Big Easy influence doesn't stop with music, the restaurant also turns out New Orleans inspired cocktails and a full repertoire of Cajun grub. Expect to see gigs by the likes of Shawn Pittman Three Quarters Fast and The Freeloaders, whose lead singer happens to be the club's owner. Then at 10 p.m., the music switches over to everything from alternative rock to country, punk and hip hop.

Find jazz, blues, funk, R&B, swing, Dixieland and more on offer seven nights a week plus Sunday afternoons. There is no charge for valet parking if you get your ticket stamped at the bar.Ĭonsidering that Deep Ellum's historic roots lie in jazz and blues, it's only fitting that one of the premier jazz venues in town would be located here. Ilene's expert tip: There's never a cover charge to get in, and the Library Bar also offers half-price wine by the glass and signature cocktails from 4-7 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Recommended for Jazz Clubs because: The Library Bar was named one of the "30 Iconic American Bars" by Business Insider. As for those cocktails, expect to sort through a drinks menu that covers everything from crafted tipples to over 20 selections of wine by the glass. Not to mention, it's also where you can listen to a host of spectacular jazz musicians tickling the ivories six nights a week. Tucked inside the lobby of the Warwick Melrose Hotel (a historic Dallas landmark dating back to 1924)- this suave drinking den is quite possibly the coziest place to sip a drink in the city. If you are looking for a mind-blowing delicious cocktail in surroundings perfect for a romantic rendezvous or catch-up with friends, you've come to the right place. If that's not enough to get you in the groove, check out 10 best's full list below, there's a place to suit jazz lovers of every stripe. And though, Deep Ellum might not be the jazz mecca it was during the early 20th century, you can still find places like the Free Man Cajun Cafe and the Twilite Lounge keeping the music very much alive almost every night of the week. Even Wynton Marsailis and Erykah Badu have played gigs here. Esquire Magazine even named it one of “America's Top 100 Bars."Īlso worth hitting up is Sandaga 813, a bar and live music venue that's considered by discerning jazz fans and musicians alike to be the best spot for jazz jams in town. It's where legendary artists like Blind Lemon Jefferson, T-Bone Walker and Huddie “Leadbelly” Ledbetter all got their start.įor those looking for an authentic jazz club experience, will definitely want to check out the Balcony Club, a venerable hole-in-the-wall joint that offers an incredible lineup of music seven nights a week. The area is also home to Deep Ellum, a neighborhood once considered a hotbed for jazz and blues musicians. After all, it's where you'll find the University of North Texas, one of the top institutions for jazz studies in the nation. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is no stranger to jazz music.

Day 12: Monday
Grabbed a coffee from the hotel, put on our walking shoes, singlets and hats and went for a hike up Runyon Canyon. Views from the top were amazing. Took a few selfies (as you do) and walked back to the hotel. Walked down towards Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose to check out the neighbourhood. Had brunch at a trendy cafe (Verve) where everyone had laptops except us. Went clothes shopping but they were either not our style or eye popping expensive. Ended up at the Beverly Centre where once again we could not find any clothes we liked and were surprised at the relatively high prices. Went back to the hotel and ventured up to the pool again. Hired a sun lounge without asking the price beforehand (ouch). Swam and drank rosé feeling very lucky. Afterwards we had dinner at EP & LP, went for a gelato that was recommended to us (not that great really) and walked home.
