An upcoming scene I can't stop thinking about (Spoilers for my Masks voice crew, but only til next session)
Kith'trach had escaped his clutches again. This was the third time, damn it! This time, he'd found solace with a group of humans on this planet--Earth, they called it. It hadn't been contacted in practically forever. It wasn't even worth visiting.
But something had changed, it seemed. In the last several dozen cycles, Earth had grown significantly stronger. That was fine, though. They were no match for the Abraxian Empire. For now, he'd do it legally. Give them his warrant. Take Kith'trach back to Abraxis to face trial.
The bounty hunter was a large bird, really. In the country of landing's measurements--This planet hadn't even standardized--He was 6'4, larger than the majority of inhabitants, and reveled in it. Back on his homeworld, he was average, but here?
Here, he was a colossus, striding through the masses of pitiful, tiny Earthlites. He was alone now, though. Thank the stars above. He tired of interacting with them. A communicator slipped out of his pocket, and he began to broadcast the signal. If Kith'trach wouldn't go willingly... Well. It was good to have a backup plan.
"Kith'trach has been located on uncontacted planet, Earth. Atmosphere composition oxygen and nitrogen-dense, surface composition primarily liquid water. Temperatures roughly sixteen secron. No known defense against extraterrestrial invasion." That last bit was important--It let other hunters know warships weren't necessary, nor were forged documents. They could just show up. But... Hold on.
He swatted his communicator with one of his massive hands, The signal had died--No, it'd never started in the first place. How odd. It should've adjusted to the planet better...
Stars above, why had he skipped engineering courses? "Are the clouds interfering?" He wondered aloud, eyes drifting up to the sky. Say... What was that unsettling feeling...?
"Not quite." Came the voice from behind him. Something about it was viscerally *wrong.* What... Was this? He turned slowly, and saw... It.
Wreathed in shadows yet at the same time awash in a vibrant purple aura, its eyes glowed in the same fashion. It looked... Like an Earthlite specimen, at least from the silhouette. 5'10, average height for the region. Slim--Looked like he could break it with his bare hands. But still... The glow gave him pause.
The galaxy had one rule, and it was one he took to heart. If it glows, it's not good. And he took it very seriously. "And who're you supposed to be?" He asked, hand inching towards his weapon. Damn. If only that teleporting Earthlite earlier hadn't stolen his coilgun, he'd rip it to shreds with one burst.
"The unknown defense." It responded, and finally it came into view. Was this... Was this really what Earth sent to stop him? Even with how it glowed and postured, he couldn't stop a short laugh. It looked... Like a middle-aged Earthlite specimen. Female, male, he wasn't sure. Its eyes were sunken and tired-looking, its face wrinkled in the fashion of their elders. Earthlites aged terribly. He understood what this was, now--The glow wasn't a sign of danger. It was an evolved threat, to look dangerous.
"Yeah, okay. Well... If you're the defense, you can call me..." His mind raced to find something he could use. His own name wouldn't translate to anything shortbeaks could say, much less those who were beakless. Then, his mind landed on it. Earth's most terrifying birds.
"You can call me... Cassowary. I'm here to apprehend a fugitive known as Kith'trach. What of you? What do your people call you?"
Its hands spread out to its sides, and he could feel his own mind slipping. What...? Around the edges of his vision, darkness encroached. In an aura around it, the world changed, becoming distinctly different--As though everything had been shifted a mekra to the left. He couldn't describe it, but everything was wrong. Foreign, moreso than it had ever been--Moreso than anything had ever been. "I am known as Nightmare of the Whispering Oracles."
His sword flared to life in his hands. The time for talking had ended, it was time for killing. Rushing forward, he raised his weapon high, aiming to finish this in one single blow. Earthlites were frail. Weak. Pathetic. They would never survive the galaxy, much less what lie beyond. They weren't capable of handing something like Kith'trach.
His weapon came down in a terrifying arc, enough strength behind it to slice an Earthlite of steel in two. But this was no Earthlite of steel. As his weapon fell, it was no longer there. Where had the Earthlite...
Before he could look around, he felt thick, slimy appendages gripping at his wings, restraining him in place. More on his legs. He squawked out a protest, only to find another wrapping around his beak. Coward! Didn't even bother to fight him! Had to resort to cheap tricks!
"Now..." He heard its voice in his left ear--No, his right? No.... In his head. All directions, at once. Inside and outside. "You're going to tell me everything you know about this 'Kith'trach,' and maybe at the end of it, I'll let you run back to your people with your tail between your legs."
...He had no tail to speak of, at least not one that could be tucked between his legs.

In the past, many have argued whether or not the XRP token was deflationary or not. In support of the former, pro-XRP crypto analyst Panos Mekras has provided data that suggests that the token has deflationary characteristics.
Number Of Tokens Burned So Far
In a tweet shared on his X (formerly Twitter) platform, Mekras referenced another tweet showing that over 11 million tokens had been burned. This stat undoubtedly suggests that the token is deflationary since its total supply has decreased over time due to the burn mechanism.
However, another X user (@hasen_van) argued that the token was only deflationary in “respect to all XRP in existence” and that the token will continue to be inflationary as long “as Ripple keeps on selling into the open market.”

In response, Mekras tried to correct the belief that some XRP tokens were not yet “in existence” as he stated that XRP’s total supply of 100 billion has existed since “day 1,” meaning that 100% of its supply has been circulating from the beginning and some XRP tokens cannot be classified as ‘non-existent’ yet.
This debate seems to stem from the fact that Ripple has an escrow system in place. As such, some (like VanHansen) believe that the XRP in escrow lockups does not fall under its circulating supply and that this escrow system affects XRP’s deflationary status. However, people like Mekras argue that the escrow system doesn’t change the fact that the token is deflationary.
VanHansen further argued that the token cannot be deflationary (except technically) as XRP’s circulating supply gets inflated every time “Ripple releases XRP from the escrow.” Both sides seemed to look at it from different angles, with Mekras abiding by what deflationary meant in the strict sense while VanHansen was trying to provide a context.

Is XRP Deflationary Or Not?
It is worth mentioning that the XRP Ledger doesn’t exactly have a built-in mechanism to decrease the token’s total supply, unlike some other networks. For instance, Ethereum implemented the London hard fork, which introduced a fee-burning mechanism with some Ether burned immediately after processing a transaction.

However, in XRP’s case, these token burns have occurred coincidentally rather than being a deflationary model on the network. In July, an engineer at Ripple explained that the monumental increase in the burn rate was mostly because of the XRPL account deletions. He mentioned that 2 XRP are usually burned when an account is deleted.
He further noted that 85,556 old accounts on the Ledger were deleted in June, which led to over 100,000 XRP being burned. Hence, the burned token figure rises every time an account is deleted.
