Very interesting and complex despite its relatively simple style and story elements

Kadokawa and the folks behind The Great Buddha Arrival are joining forces to make Nezura 1964, a film about the disastrous production of Giant Horde Beast Nezura! By “disastrous,” I mean “the film was cancelled after the sewer rats who served as the horde in question started invading nearby homes.” As a result, none of Daiei’s directors wanted to work on the studio’s next kaiju film, Gamera: The Giant Monster, leaving it to the rookie, Noriaki Yuasa.

Cast: Yukijiro Hotaru (Osako from the Heisei Gamera trilogy), Masanori Kikuzawa, Toma Yoneyama, Himawari Ono (the girl who starts the Great Gamera Relay Race in Gamera the Brave), Ippei Osako, and Yoshiro Uchida (Toshio from Gamera: The Giant Monster). Hiroto Yokokawa will direct.

The Great Buddha Arrival is a 2018 Japanese Kaiju film directed by Hiroto Yokokawa and starring Kazuma Yoneyama, Masanori Kikuzawa, Yukijirō Hotaru and Akira Takarada.

It is a remake of the 1934 Japanese film Daibutsu Kaikoku by Yoshiro Edamasa which was about a big Buddha statue. “Daibutsu” means a big Buddha statue, “Kaikoku” means walking around a country.

A new teaser trailer has been released for kaiju film reboot Nezura 1964. This crowdfunded tokusatsu kaiju biopic is produced by 3Y Co., Ltd. in cooperation with Kadokawa. It is based on Daiei’s scrapped 1964 Gamera precursor, Giant Horde Beast Nezura.
