no bc the lavabending nerf in the comic was CRAAZY like actually insane. In the series the lava disc was this like, clever way for Bolin to keep such a devastating power under control in a closed off environment.

In the comics it's all he uses?? EVEN WHEN HES BEING MIND CONTROLLED TO BE EVIL??? like.

why would that be all he goes for and not say.
