Intimacy in Anonymity
Ramzi Mallat (@ramzimallatstudio) produces socially engaged work that was created by people's consumption, offering coffee to pedestrians in Lebanon, reading their fortune in the coffee grounds and then preserving the remnants.
The resulting artwork is a commentary on the uncertainty of the future of these communities as well as the effects of globalisation on the region's heritage.
The work will be on display as part of 'Fault Lines', a solo exhibition by Ramzi Mallat at P21 Gallery from 9 to 25 November 2023.
