炬燵猫（こたつねこ）は、日本の文化においてよく知られた猫の行動パターンの一つです。炬燵は、日本の冬季に広く使われる暖房器具であり、炬燵の下に敷かれた布団や毛布の中でくつろぐ猫を指します。猫は寒い季節に暖かさを求め、炬燵の下に潜り込んでくつろぐことがあります。炬燵猫は、このような猫のかわいらしい姿を指して呼ばれます。炬燵猫は、冬の日本の風物詩として、多くの人々に愛されています。

Nur in Japan: Katzen-Kotatsu-Livestream
"Typisch Japan!" Das denkt man sich vielleicht, wenn man Photos von Leuten sieht, die Sushi von einem Laufband essen oder sich Werbeclips für Dole-Bananen anschaut, in denen ein Maskottchencharakter mit einem aus Bananen bestehenden Schnauzbart kleinere Bananen aus seinen Nasenlöchern schießt. Der (trotz Jahrzehnten der Internationalisierung) immer noch sehr starke Galapagos-Effekt, den eine Insellage mit sich bringt, hat in der Vergangenheit recht oft zur Herausbildung kultureller Eigenheiten geführt.
Eine weitere dieser Eigenheiten ist der sogenannte Kotatsu. Das Setup besteht aus einem tiefen Tisch, an dessen Unterseite eine Heizvorrichtung angebracht wurde, und einer Decke. Die Tischplatte und der Rest des Tisches sind voneinander abtrennbar, sodass man die Decke zwischen die beiden Teile klemmen und sich dann im Winter die Füsse wärmen kann, wenn man zuhause im Wohnzimmer ein Buch liest oder sich Werbeclips für Dole-Bananen anschaut.
Der Kotatsu ist ein klassisches Innenausstattungselement der japanischen Jahresend- und Neujahrszeit und darf eigentlich in keinem Haushalt, in dem seine Unterbringung platztechnisch möglich ist, fehlen. Und aufgrund seiner Eigenschaften ist er natürlich nicht nur bei Menschen, sondern auch bei Katzen äußerst beliebt. Beim Anblick einer Katze, die sich wohlig an die warme Decke kuschelt, vervielfacht sich eigene Wohlfühl-Effekt mindestens noch mal um das 1.5-fache.
Allerdings hat nicht jeder einen Kotatsu, oder eine Katze. Doch auch für solche Menschen gibt es in dieser service-orientierten Welt eine Solution - Livestreams auf Youtube, bei denen man Katzen in Echtzeit (!) dabei zusehen kann, wie sie es sich unter und um den Kotatsu herum gemütlich machen.

Summary: Every winter, for one reason or another, the village sacrificed someone to the something that probably lived in the ocean as a means of appeasement. No one had been clear as to whether or not said appeasement actually worked, but it seemed to be as much of a holiday tradition for these folks as needlefelted stockings and overcooked goose. Decorate a tree; wrap presents; sing a few carols; offer a dubiously selected villager to an overgrown squid at the turn of the year. Everyone has to stop sometime, Lee supposes. At least there would be a villager with an unexpected extra year to their life—one of those holiday miracles. There’s something almost poetic about the way his end is writing itself.
