Acts of Kindness
Tumblr media
How do you decide when to conduct an act of kindness? Is it possible to plan your day around those small acts. Or do such actions happen involuntarily from an inner reservoir of goodness that is expressed as an act of kindness.             There is a long list of actions that are considered acts of kindness. However, I’m sure you never gave thought enough to remember what they were, nor how they happened to come out in your performance through the day.             I think adults have been conditioned to do certain things that come automatically because of their training or experiences along the way. Children sometime find ways to consider a kind act. I have seen some who played together and in the course of their play-acting, an act of kindness shows up. Take Susy and Betsy. Play-acting tea party or dress-up. One of the two will rise to the occasion and give instructions to the other on just how to pour the tea, or wear a neck scarf. The one who received these kind remarks, returns with her own words of  kindness expressed in her voice, not usually heard.             How do you account for that action? More recently the conversation between two children, is learning to share the toys from the toy-box. When both of them want the same toy, it seems that the one with the loudest protest, intimidates the other and ends up with the toy. Those same children grow up trying to bully their way through the parents until they become aggressive and they are destined for difficulties later in life. They never learned kindness in the early years.             Acts of kindness are done by choice. Not by accident. When you  see someone struggling with the paper tray on the copying machine, and step forward to give assistance, that’s an act of kindness. When you see a widow bereaved and distraught about how to handle the affairs of home with out the mate, a little offer of support, help or assist goes a long way to relieve the anxiety  that comes from losing their marriage partner of fifty plus years.             Such small things, but germinated in a heart of goodness that is a byproduct of kindness, and cannot be held in, but given away. Today's Quotation: Invest in the human soul. Who knows, it might be a diamond in the rough. Mary McLeod Bethune Today's Meditation: Every day of our lives, we are presented with opportunities to invest ourselves in this world--our time, our money, our energy, our ideas, our love, our compassion. And where we make our investments, makes all the difference. Over time, most investments will yield us a greater return than we put into them, however, the investments we make in the human soul will always have a positive return. When we share ourselves with other human beings who could use a little more of the positive in their lives, we help to polish a gem--a gem that as Mary points out, just "might be a diamond in the rough." It does not require a great effort on our part; in fact, it may simply cost us the bare minimum. A smile, a hug, an encouraging word, a helping hand, a financial-pick-me-up... we have it within us to invest in our fellow brothers and sisters. What can you invest today? What can you share with others that will contribute towards humanity? All that is required from us are two simple things: an increased awareness of the power we hold within, and an attitude that makes "investing in the human soul" a priority in our life. Today's Challenge: Make a meaningful investment in someone today. Questions to consider: What are some of the things that keep us from sharing our own unique humanity? How do you feel when someone invests in you? What might the world be like if everyone were to think of investing in the human soul? For further thought: Investing our time to empower children today... will make a better humanity tomorrow! Timothy Pina -Inspire Me App
