@alyafae (kathleen) asked: “ don’t bury your feelings. sadness. hurt. rage. feel it. acknowledge it so you can decide what you want to do with it. not what it will do to you. ” (thank you!)
The words echo loudly and incessantly. She wants so much to agree with the woman, but Esme simply can't. She has spent years building her persona, her resolve. She has spent years understanding that her life is no longer what it once was— that she should be content, happy, with the situation she finds herself in now. Any time she allows Charles an inch of space, she feels as if she's lost to him once more. It's why she swallows her grief down. It's why she grieves alone and throws herself into the issues of her coven.
"It's been too long," she responds, her eyes tracing the rim of a glass she's unsure she'll drink the contents of. "Sometimes, it's better to leave these things forgotten. You know, I'm the one people come to for help. I can't help them if I'm not okay."
Her teeth chew at the inside of her cheek, fingers absent-mindedly tapping against the table top. "Isn't that me choosing what to do with it?"

MONSTER HOUSE (2006)
Grade: C-
Odd film in the sense it was too scary and morbid for kids but not clever enough for adults. It pulls at your heart a little. I actually thought I'd like it. It's forgettable.
