Kunio Kaneko 金子邦夫 (b 1949) was born in Tokyo and graduated from the Musashino University of Fine Arts. He was a student of Joichi Hoshi and Kihei Sasajima. The artist works in the traditional Japanese technique of woodblock prints and he uses the traditional style baren, or a handheld disc-like tool with a flat bottom, often wrapped in a bamboo sheath.His artworks have an individual appeal and blend the classic design traditions with a modernistic approach to colour and texture. The usual edition size is from 100 to 200 - signed and numbered. Some are monotypes while in others he uses gold leaf on coloured paper.

River City Girls

I took this game on, and wrote this dope blog. If you read this like the River City Girls!!! opening, then read my blog on this game.

Story River City Girls is a spin-off game based on the Kunio-Kun series; the game stars two girls Misako and Kyoko. They fight their way from high school to the streets of River City to save their kidnapped boyfriends. You will have to fight your way through enemies, obstacles, and bosses to find and save them. Besides River City Ransom and Super Dodgeball, I don’t know much about this game…

Following a ratings board leak, publisher Arc System Works and developer WayForward have officially announced River City Girls, a new project basic on the River City / Kunio-kun action game series.

The collaboration promises to “leverage the strengths of each studio and bring together a wealth of knowledge, an abundance of passion, and 60 combined years of video game experience across a wide range of technologies, genres, and intellectual properties.”

“This is a really wonderful opportunity,” said WayForward founder Voldi Way in a press release. “Arc System Works is an extremely talented gaming company that we’ve admired for many years, and we are incredibly happy to be working with them. This new take on the River City universe is going to be a lot of fun.”

Arc System Works producer Takomi Kaneko added, “Everyone here is pleasantly surprised by the way the River City series is turning out. I think the River City series has a reputation as a 2D fighting-action game with a lot of male fans, but then River City Girls appears! WayForward’s enthusiasm for a female protagonist won me over.”

More information about River City Girls will be revealed later in 2019.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Film Announces Release Date & Main Voice Cast

The official website for the forthcoming new feature film Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island has announced that it is set to be released in Japan on June 3, 2022. An illustration to commemorate the announcement newly drawn by the film's chief animation director/character designer Atsuhi Tamura has arrived.

The site has also revealed the film's eight main voice cast members, including Toru Furuya and Toshio Furukawa who reprise their roles as Amuro Ray and Kai Shiden from the original series, respectively. Hirotaka Suzuoki, the original cast of Bright Noah, already passed away in 2006, and Ken Narita, who has played Bright since Mobile Suit Gundam UC in 2014, is again cast as the character. And it is confirmed that Sleggar Law, a character who appears late in the original TV anime story, makes his appearance much earlier.

As its title suggests, the film is based on the first Mobile Suit Gundam TV anime's 15th episode of the same name, which was aired in Japan on July 14, 1979. The episode depicted the melancholy of war through the interaction of the protagonist, Amuro Ray, with Doan, a deserter from the Zeon army. The film version tells that story again, using the latest visual technology, including CGI. The first series' character designer / chief animation director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko serves as director.
