John Muir was born April 21st, 1838, in Dunbar, Scotland. The third of eight children, Muir attended school in Scotland until he was 11, when the family moved to Fountain Lake, and later Portage, Wisconsin. Muir’s father was strict, making the family work on the farm from dawn to dusk. A couple of weeks ago, we took the opportunity whilst the weather was nice to plant some wax begonias. We spent some time to decide where we thought they would thrive, and decided next to the beginner slope was the best option.

However, there was no soil in the area, so we had to start from scratch. We managed to get some fertilised soil and worked as a team to lay it in our chosen area.

After this, we picked out where each plant would go so that they had enough room to grow!
