Vandaag viert de eerste commerciële zender in Vlaanderen, VTM dus, z’n 35ste verjaardag. Over de start zelf heb ik niets geschreven destijds in De Rode Vaan, dat hadden de politieke bonzen al gedaan in een heus “dossier”. canon autistic character: Gregoire Liebman

I know I said that I was a bit hesitant about adding Dutch characters because there are already so many, but I swear this one was on accident. Just picked the first book that piqued my interest from the library search results for “autism”, and this was the one. I remember thinking “yeah Leopold Kirsch, that’s German for sure” and behold: this book.

The back cover says that Leopold Kirsch was a social worker and this book retells one of his most memorable cases. He initially did not want to publish it because the events of the story have consequences that live on today, but his friend Jef Rademakers convinced Leopold to let him translate the story into Dutch and at least publish it outside of Germany. It’s never indicated whether this whole thing is true or if it’s just part of the world-building.
