The problem with Sinn’s storyline.
Tumblr media
Fans have been growing increasingly frustrated over the writing of Sinn since that kiss in Rome. It’s become apparent that Sinn angst is coming, but there’s a huge problem. The writing makes no sense. Both Steffy and Finn are making questionable choices that are confusing to those that have been following their story. Here are my biggest problems with this storyline.
1. Lack of clear reason.
To start off, this Sinn angst storyline started with Liam kissing Steffy in Rome. She rejected him, but did not tell Finn about it. Then Liam kisses her again at the cliff house and she rejects him again, (because no doesn’t mean no to Liam apparently) and she still chooses not to tell Finn. Why? Steffy made it clear she has absolutely no intention of leaving Finn for Liam, so it’s not because she’s secretly torn, yet we see guilt on her face. Steffy didn’t do anything wrong. She immediately told him no and put him in his place. Her only wrongdoing is not telling Finn. She’s become dishonest in her relationship for no other reason than to protect Liam from his terrible and disrespectful behavior.
Now we have Finn. Ever since Finn found out what Sheila had done to not only him, but Steffy and Li, he has wanted her gone from their lives just as much as everyone else. He even tried to strangle Sheila over what she did to the women he loves, even going as far as to say someone should’ve put a bullet in her head. He’s made a point to say that maybe he could’ve gotten over Sheila hurting him, but not for hurting Steffy. Finn has been on the same page about Sheila since last year, but suddenly a visit in jail and a hug has made his hatred for her disappear? Where was the build up for this? This turn in the story was pulled completely out of thin air. All of a sudden, he’s not so angry about Sheila shooting him and his wife, almost killing his mother, and almost orphaning his son and his stepdaughter almost losing her mother?
The question that lingers on Finn’s part of this angst is the same question that lingers on Steffy’s. Why? What is the motivation behind these writing choices? The answer comes down to one thing. The propping of Liam Spencer.
2. The propping of the worst leading man in daytime.
Why is Steffy choosing to withhold information from Finn when she did nothing wrong? Why does Finn all of a sudden have a new soft spot for Sheila? The answer is simple. To insert Liam Spencer and make him a “hero” in a story where he doesn’t belong. Nothing about Liam being in this storyline has come naturally. Sinn are the healthiest communicators among the Bold relationships. Does that mean they should never have angst? Of course not. However, it’d be nice if said angst and new lack of communication made any sense at all, but in order to fit Liam in, that’s the direction TPTB have forced Sinn into. Sinn were headed for a Liam centered argument the second she decided to keep him forcing himself on her a secret. Once again, Steffy did NOTHING wrong until she decided to keep quiet about it. And what does that get her? Nothing. What does it get Liam? Protection from his bad behavior and allowing him to avoid facing any consequences for doing what he just berated Hope for doing. Cheating. The path towards an inevitable Liam centered argument became even more apparent with this twist in Finn’s side of the story. What does Finn get from letting Sheila in? Nothing. In fact, he could very well lose everything. What does it get Liam? The opening to play Steffy’s “hero” and a valid (in the mind’s of the writers and I’m sure the characters as well because it’s Liam) excuse to come between Steffy and Finn and he won’t have to be a hypocrite. Liam’s “perfect” life crumbled when Hope upgraded to Thomas’ bed and left the dusty cabin floor behind and now he’s ready to pick back up his back up plan. It is insulting to not only insult the intelligence of Sinn fans, but to insult the intelligence of Steffy & Finn to make Liam work. TPTB want Liam to still be a viable option for Steffy and are making it the problem of Finn and Sinn fans when they’re the ones who have made Liam into who he is. A serial cheater and emotional manipulator who has no respect for women or anyone other than himself.
3. The main point.
Steffy and Finn have been thrown under the bus to prop Liam. Neither one of them has a natural excuse to be in the position they are in now because it was pulled out of nowhere the second Liam decided he was done with Hope and they needed a story for him. Finn has proven to be the closest thing to perfect a Soap man can get and his love for Steffy and Steffy’s daughter has made him incredibly popular. Liam is a joke next to Finn and I believe it is known behind the scenes and for some reason, TPTB don’t like it. For me personally, I will never understand the love affair the writers have with Liam. He has truly been insufferable to watch for years now and has no redeeming qualities. He somehow always manages to never pay for anything he does, especially when it comes to how he’s treated women, as well as his first born. All we ever hear is how good of a man Liam is and how good of a father he is, but I’ve yet to see it. In the end, I’m just left with one question that we will never get an answer to. Why are they sacrificing beloved and popular characters and their relationship to prop a character that has gone way past his expiration date? It is truly such a disservice to a very loyal fanbase aka Sinn Nation.
