while archiving my old writing I found an essay I wrote in or before 2008 in favor of same-sex marriage and mentioned that there was a debate in history class in which many people were against it, which is just fuckin wild to me. really feel like that should’ve affected me more lol (not that I mind)

the best way I can describe my feelings about it is just *macarenas aggressively in the corner*

I was never really *closeted*?#I lump myself in with straight people in the essay but I was also 14?#like let's not fuck around half my self-insert characters were male or mistaken for boys #I was aware that I did not feel the same way about gender or sexuality as my peers.#but I also just didn't really care?#I don't think I ever lied about it #I did kind of keep it to myself but I kept basically everything to myself so it wouldn't've changed even if I was cishetallo #idk like.#my wife is only a few years older than me and she has some really deeply ingrained fears about moving to the wrong place #but I was old enough to vote in 2012. I remember hearing the cheers from my dorm room when same-sex marriage was federally recognized.#and I'm just like 'nah sfine I'm safe basically anywhere which means you'll also be safe'#(she's less obviously and openly queer than I am so it's not like I'm just some cishet ignorantly assuming.)#it really is just the chaotic dumbass alignment perk.
