Hi I NEED to know abt your beef with Orangestar cause I have never heard of anyone having beef with them or their songs
oh my god orangestar's not problematic or anything... it genuinely is SUCH minor beef I CANNOT emphasize enough
For context, I never liked orangestar songs THAT much, like it was good, but it felt good in a generic way (I feel similarly about yoasobi tbh but I like yoasobi's stuff FAR more), and I didn't ever feel that it was ever anything super duper special or connect with their songs in a deep or emotional way. When I read in an interview by Kurage-P (of Chururira Chururira Da-Da-Da, Check Check Check One Two, and Beast Dance fame among other songs) where he was essentially asked about his success and he said something along the lines of "Well I didn't start out writing these types of edgy songs about the cutthroat classroom, the first songs I ever posted were these deeply emotional songs, but they never gained any traction, even though I felt like it was exactly the type of stuff that Orangestar and n-buna were releasing"
ah I actually found the snippet from one of vgperson's translations
Tumblr media
I don't actually like kurage-P overly much either, but something about this really stuck with me, probably because I really relate to feeling like I'm doing the same things as other people but somehow I never get the same amount of results or feedback. I think I read this and was like "Yeah, I thought they were overrated after all!! There's nothing wrong with me after all!" but then a different part of me was like "So I've got to change what I'm doing because I'm a no-good hack?!" and over time it's slowly simmered into vague beef against orangestar even though I literally just drew a minutelong pv set to asu no yozora shoukaihan LMAO
you HAVE to watch this btw this is taxes for sending me the ask. prime example of "I feel like I'm doing the same things as other people but none of my stuff ever gains the same amount of traction"
