So uh if you pirate books please just… don’t follow me ?
#Granted there’s an exception for textbooks#This is a US centric statement as my understanding is textbooks in the US are ridiculously expensive#I’m also aware of the fact libraries in other countries may not carry whatever book you want to read#Someone said it really well in another post though - as an aspiring author I am sickened that people just feel.#Entitled to my labour ????#Please understand I’m poor! I’m very poor! I’ve been poor all my life and I devoured books at an unhealthy rate#The only time I’ve pirated a book was when I had firm plans to buy them asap but couldn’t wait to read them#And then I did buy them asap. This is a second exception to the rule I suppose#But yeah seriously. I do not support pirating books. It only hurts the author in the end#There’s other good posts out there that breakdown how advances and royalties work for authors and how pirating can destroy#A debuts chance of continuing this career#Fucking. Educate yourself. We live in a golden age of content and I think people have become very accustomed to the idea of it being free#A lot of times you can find things for free or very very cheap. Once again; I’m poor. I learned how to make the very limited funds I had#Stretch to get a good taste of art I wanted to take in#Jfc people talk about supporting small businesses all the time.
