Man, so I'm not normally the biggest fan of Modern AUs, nor am I overly fond of fiction focused on kids, but...last night, my sleeping brain decided to concoct this Trigun (Stampede-flavored) Modern AU that now is living rent free in my damn brain! I want to get it out of my head and into the ether. I don't know if I'm going to do anything long-form with it, and I'm having to translate dream weirdness into more coherent storytelling, but here we go.

So it's modern day Earth, like 2024 or some shit, right? And that's when this version of Earth had just begun fucking around with Plant cloning. It's early enough that the SEEDS project hasn't even left the planet, the scientists haven't yet figured out how to put Plants in bulbs and use them for fuel, none of that! But they've already had Tessla happen, and the boys have already been born. Since they're not in space, even though they had to have found out about their sister, Nai hasn't had a chance to literally nuke humanity from orbit, and I guess Rem has had a chance to try and curtail some of his trauma, so he's...more stable? Ish? Stable enough where he's not actively trying to murder everyone. And the boys are "older," like we see in the flashbacks for the time Vash encountered Nai during the Last Run, so probably around 6 years old but looking 16 or so.

Rem has managed to fudge their paperwork so they've started going to school with human kids, to try and give them a normal childhood. Nai isn't as eager to play ball with the whole "being human" thing as much as Vash is, but Vash has got so many friends, Meryl and Milly and Lina are there and they're like the cutest, most stupidly adorable group of friends, just a bunch of little goofballs, like kids that age are. And the school has a field trip to a theme park (it was Disneyworld in my dream because my school actually did this, but ours was a band trip) and Vash manages to convince Rem to let him go. Vash and Nai and Rem are still paranoid about humans figuring out who they are, so you know, he's told to be extra careful and take care of himself, and Nai gives him one of his blades or something for self defense, just in case something happens. Even though Vash would never, that boy has trauma around knives and trying to defend himself, if you've read Trimax, iykyk. But he takes it anyway, and somehow, he manages to sneak it into the park. Maybe the metal doesn't register on metal detectors or something, who knows.

But he's a kid, and kids are dumb. Especially when they're 16. Especially if those 16 year olds aren't actually 16 and don't have the actual lived experience to know better. So he starts playing with the knife in front of the girls, showing off and just being a silly little guy. And then the knife slips. Bad. We're talking "this is how he probably lost his arm in this AU" bad. Blood everywhere, the girls are panicking and take him to the school chaperones and it's like "HOLY SHIT WTF DUDE, We're taking you to the ER, someone call his mom!"

And he hears that, pictures the doctors finding out he's not human, remembers what happened to Tessla, and panics. Boy does a runner like only Vash can do, and he manages to get away from them, out of the park, and escapes from security. And when parents get involved in trying to find him, the authorities start looking into the incident, and someone in the government overseeing the Plant research is able to recognize the elemental make up of the blade he dropped, and they start having suspicions. So the feds get involved, and it just goes from bad to worse, right?

Meanwhile, loopy from blood loss and panicking and a little sobbing mess because he feels dumb about slipping up and he's afraid he'll never get to go home to his mom and his brother again and is spiraling the way kids do when they panic, he gets lost in the city and ends up stumbling over teenage Wolfwood, who lives on the streets and has a few street kids that he looks after on his own with Livio. They never got to live at the orphanage, but that also means that the Eye (in whatever form it takes in this AU) never got ahold of them, so yeah, shits fucked for them, but it's actually a whole lot better for them than it might have been. And it's Wolfwood without all of the EoM trauma, so you can just imagine what he does when this delirious, bloody, terrified, severely injured kid runs him over in the street, sobbing about being caught by the adults and taken away.

Big Brother Nico do what Big Brother Nico do.

At that point, I ended up waking up, but damn if my brain didn't give me enough details to come up with a dumb AU idea that I kind of love and want to do something with, but I don't know if I have the time or spoons to do so.

Ideas I'd had following this beginning to flesh itself out in my head; Luida and Brad are Plant researchers brought onto the project to help the feds figure out wtf is going on with this whole situation, and when Luida is told to talk to Rem, because she's not giving them anything they can use, the two of them reach a secret accord to bring Vash home safe and sound and cover everything back up nice and squeaky clean the way it should have stayed.

Vash's arm is bad enough that he can't really heal it very well on his own without medical care, Plant healing or no. He's doing better than most kids would, but it still begins to go septic, and it forces Nico and Livio to make the really hard decision to find adults they can trust to bring him to so he can get the care he needs. He still ends up losing his arm, though.

At the end of everything, Melanie ends up taking Nico and Livio and the other kids in, so they still get to have their momma figure, even if she comes in later. Maybe she's the one that they find to help them. Is she maybe someone they've known was mostly safe but was never able to get them to stick around long enough to take care of them? Either way, the boys get Vash to her, and it starts the process of getting him home and the kids finally staying at the orphanage.

Meryl, Milly, and Lina all end up sneaking away when they realize that Vash is in more trouble than the adults are letting on, trying to go find him, since they know him better than anyone other than Rem and Nai. Eventually, they meet up with Nico and Livio while everyone is trying to avoid federal agents.

Obviously it's lovey-dovey Vashwood and Insurance Girlfriends and Polygun-flavored, but in the "these kids are too oblivious to think about sexy things, yet" sort of way, because I really do headcanon that at least Vash is ace, Wolfwood is probably demi, and also I am not writing children getting intimate like that. >8/ But kids having little crushes on each other is adorable and I can't not have Vashwood and Insurance Girlfriends be the eventual outcome, once those idiots all grow up and get their heads screwed on straight.

Also, because Nai hasn't had a chance to murder everyone, Rem's managed to work with him enough that he's very slowly overcoming his trauma and regaining his ability to trust that he's not in permanent danger. He'll probably grow up to be a Plants Rights activist or something, lbh. Or a politician. But he's not going to murder people, so either way, it's a win/win!

Because Nico's been living on the streets with him, Razlo either hasn't had to manifest as strongly for Livio, or hasn't manifested at all. Livio is still the sweet, shy, crybaby teddy bear we see, and maybe Razlo only comes out when the feds start getting closer and almost managing to grab the kids, and because he's been able to bond with Nico and the other kids so well this time, Livio is close enough to them that the thought of them getting hurt or taken away is enough to make him want to protect their little group instead of just Livio.

Wolfwood absolutely grumbles about how alike Vash and Livio are. Both a couple'a crybabies, geez, what the Hell you two??? But he also is very much a teddy bear who gives the best hugs when one of his little band of gremlins is upset, so he probably spends more time in a cuddle pile than anything else, now that there's two of them to lose their shit at the drop of a hat.

Vash was totally the one very sweet boy in a clique of girls that everyone who'd known him realized, when they were adults looking back, that he was very much the sweet gay kid hanging out with the girls because it was safer to be himself around them than it was to be around the other boys. (This isn't meant as a stereotype of gay kids, this is based on actual kids I grew up with. My friend group honest to God adopted them because we were all a bunch of momma bears.)

Vash is also...not trans? Because he's a Plant and Plants don't work the same way humans do, but he's also not what humans would think of as a cis boy. He expresses a masc presentation, but probably the closest equivalent would be an intersexed kid. Nai, too, tbh, though he's probably more of the "I don't give a fuck" opinion when it comes to his own gender identity. He uses he/him because that's what humans think when they see him, but he doesn't care any deeper than that.

What is Sakuya's reaction to Mahiru becoming a succubus?

Mahiru ends up telling Sakuya in his room or somewhere where they both were alone.

If a succubus doesn't feed, they get sick and sicker the longer it goes on. Mahiru was *very* sick for a while before figuring everything out and fed and suddenly he was in tip-top shape again! Like he was never sick.

The drastic change was suspicious to Sakuya and he got worried. Sakuya decides to confront Mahiru and question him about it.

Now, this is all because of a guilty little headcanon of mine that Sakuya and Mahiru swear to not lie to each other again when it comes to important things. Mahiru lied to Sakuya about nothing being wrong in the beginning of the manga, Sakuya lied about being human and many other things that had weight to them, they'll never do it again if they can help it. Paired with ANOTHER headcanon I have for Sakuya*, Mahiru can't avoid telling the truth to him anyways.

Mahiru isn't going to lie to him about it and at the time only Kuro and Sloth knew about his "turning into a succubus" shtick. So when Sakuya asks him what's wrong and really going on, Mahiru lays all the trust he has in the other in front of him.

"...Ok but you have to promise not to freak out."

Sakuya looks at him incredulously. "...Huh?"

"Promise you won't freak out!"

"Ok! Ok. I won't freak out."

And Mahiru takes a very deep, very grounding breath.

"I'm turning into a succubus."

Sakuya just stands there, unsure of how to react. "...What?"

"I'm turning," Mahiru says slower, quieter. "into a succubus."

Silence. And then Sakuya laughs, and laughs as his face scrunched with a slurry of troublesome, mixed emotions.

*Because he can tell when people are lying. He always knows because that's the passive power he had gotten when Tsubaki make him a subclass. Lie detector. A little ringing in the back of his head that drives him crazy when someone in ear-shot lies and drives him crazier when one comes out of his own mouth.

There's no alarm in the back of his head. As much as he wishes, for once, someone would be lying to him, it was truth.

But that doesn't stop anyone from being doubtful, from some denial.

"But." He takes a breath. "How can something like that happen...?

"Something happened during the last fight and apparently my, uh….. dad, was part succubus and I had the gene. And during the fight, it started to wake up from being dormant? And now I'm kind of... slowly turning into a full-blooded succubus??"

No alarm. He's getting visibly more stressed by the second. "That's-- Mahiru, you've got to be kidding me? Something like that has to be impossible... I mean I'm not saying that succubuses or whatever don't exist but I don't think a human can turn into one." He's shifting in his spot, hesitantly reaching out to check Mahiru's forehead. "Are you sure you're not still sick??"

"...You don't believe me." And Sakuya feels his sanity slip from between his fingers.

"It's not-- I just--"

"I have proof!" Mahiru says, nearly yelling and reaches for the hem of his shirt, and Sakuya has no idea what to expect but starts screaming anyways. About? He has no idea, he has no idea what's coming out of his mouth.

But he's silenced when his hands don't stop Mahiru's in time and his shirt is pulled up to his collarbones. He can't even enjoy the rare sight of his bare skin with the weird black appendage wrapped around his midriff.

His eyes are burning holes into the thing as it unfurls itself and starts swinging around not unlike a cat's. Mahiru turns around for him to see where it connects on his lower back.

Sakuya feels like he's gonna pass out. And then goes back on his promise and starts freaking the fuck out because this was not what he was expecting???!? what the fuck???? what the fuck!!!!!!

Mahiru has to try to calm him down and Sakuya keeps looking at the tail swishing behind his best friend in worried frustration and wills it to be an illusion. A trick of the mind and that he'd wake up in a second in his bed drenched in sweat. Neither of them have that kind of mercy.

Once they both calm down Mahiru explains it a bit more thoroughly. Sakuya is white-knuckled clutching one of Mahiru's pillows, both sitting on the bed, nodding along and trying to keep his head from spinning.

The demonic energy from the fight, paired with Mahiru's close proximity to Pandora and the Saint had jumpstarted the sleeping inhuman gene and once it was awake there was no stopping it from growing. And it's only because of the immeasurable amount of energy there that it happened at all. Sloth by himself wouldn't have been strong enough to rework someone's genes.

But now that it was *there*, it was feeding off of the little demonic energy supplied through the Servamp bond and Mahiru's own lifeforce to sustain itself enough to start changing the body. It was killing Mahiru in order to come to the surface. And now Mahiru needs to have sex and be a bottom in order to stay healthy.

He's kinda like a vampire in that regard-- He doesn't exactly need food anymore but he needs to feed on this specific thing.

Sakuya is just nodding his head and about passes the fuck out when he gets told about a succubus's natural aphrodisiac and charms in order to lure in prey.

By the end of it, they're both with their heads in their hands.

"But yeah. Long story short, my dad was part succubus, I was human but not anymore. And now I have to deal with that forever I guess."

Sakuya freezes. Lifts his head from his palms.

"Wait, you know your dad??"

And Mahiru pales.

"...My biological father is Touma Taishi."

"WHAT THE FU-"

Not to drag the mood down but this is something I think about a lot:

Napoleon is with Illya when they find out JFK got assassinated.

Napoleon is not a patriot but this would not leave him unaffected, Illya neither despite it being the *American* president. I wonder how they would cope with the shock? (I mean given they are already in an established relationship by then)

Do you know that you sent this ask in a year ago. A YEAR. I'm so very sorry that I sat on this for that long. My ask box would get filled up and emptied, and occasionally I would catch sight of this one down there. Ah! The JFK ask. I figured, a year later, it's time to finally answer this.

For all that I thought I had little to say about this, apparently I had the ability to ramble a lot. SO. No guarantees this makes full sense, lol.

I think I put it off because I have so little sense of how this would go for them, tbh. I'm not sure I agree that Napoleon is not a patriot (I think I've talked about this on the discord before). I think he has a very complicated relationship with his feelings toward his country at the time of the movie. He volunteered for the army at 16, meaning he had to forge documents to get in, so he had to really want it. I suppose you could headcanon that he was running away from something—a bad family situation, perhaps—but I tend to think of him as being kind of idealistic at that age, tbh. He was gonna go fight Nazis and do something with his life.

Following the war, he obviously stayed in Europe and probably was 1000% more jaded by politics and governments. But then. THEN he gets caught. Recruited by the CIA. But he doesn't just work for them. He becomes their best agent. WHY? Illya asks this question in the movie and comes to the conclusion that it's shame for his criminal past. Yeah, right. Napoleon has no shame, certainly not about being a thief. Probably a lot of his motivation is pride in his work, and the simple fact of wanting to be the best, but I think that some part of him still wants to serve his country. I don't think he buys into to the America is the Greatest Dogma, but I do think he is unabashedly American.

So when his president gets assassinated... shock, disbelief, anger. I can actually see him being angry in a way that surprises even himself; he doesn't want to be, wants to think he's above it, but he is angry. Illya tries to offer his quiet support (more on that later) and Napoleon lashes out at him—of course he's fine, why wouldn't he be, one politician is the same as any other, he doesn't care. For Illya, if we're assuming they've been together for a while and thus, probably, that Illya's been living and working in the West for a while, it's just gotta feel weird. As much as I feel unequipped to guess at how Napoleon would feel after JFK was shot, I really cannot guess how a Soviet agent would feel. FWIW I also feel like Illya has a very complicated relationship with his own patriotism.

So JFK gets shot (btw, I had no idea before this that Oswald lived in the Soviet Union for a time and married a Russian woman? I really don't know much about this history), how do they deal with it? Honestly? Poorly, lol. Neither of them want to talk about it. They just want to pretend like nothing has changed. As I said above, I think Illya would try to be a good partner/boyfriend and offer his support, but Napoleon would brush him off, which probably would create some tension between them.

They're also shaken, they don't know how this level of upset in the American government will play out. What if Johnson's policies greatly changed the relationship between the USA and the USSR? How would that affect them? How does it affect UNCLE? I can picture them fighting because Illya worries he's going to get recalled to the KGB and taken away, that they'll be enemies again, and Napoleon just insists everything will be fine. This of course irritates Illya because he feels like Napoleon isn't taking it seriously, while Napoleon is absolutely freaking out inside about the possibility of losing Illya, but burying it under a flippant exterior in that way he does. Probably it ends up blowing up in some big argument with some cathartic breakdowns, and they come out of it realizing/confirming how much they love each other. Also probably come out of it with the understanding that if shit DOES hit the fan, they're running away together.

All right, I think that's all I have to say, lol. I sincerely apologize for taking so long to answer this... when it got to like 10 months I might have figured I'd just wait until a year had gone just for the heck of it. 😉 And apparently I did have some strong ideas once I sat down and forced myself to start writing them out!

The first crackship child, Imp and @phlurrii 's Circe makes, Nymph!

First art piece using Sai and a Wacom drawing tablet rather than my usual method and! I think she looks really good!!

She was originally gonna have green stripes on her arms like her momma Circe but as I couldn't make a nice green to go with the dark pink that was already established (based on Imps arm patterns) I just left them pink but I imagine as an adult she would get greener markings in those stripes and the shoulder stripes because adult mew patterns go brrr. Same for her legs I imagine she'd get more green stripes to go with, her leg patterns are based off Circes stripes and Imps spots with the patterns becoming completed spots going up the leg cause I thought it was good

Same for her second neck rather than a strip down the middle of green she's got stripes because of Imps striped neck and the spaces in between will probably grow in green patterns as well, her nose will probably become fully green too or just get more texture depth

Beans and heart bean because Im not immune to heart pattern and also Imp had heart patterns on her knees so had to squeeze in a heart so double beans

Her ear horn fluff is more pointed like how Imp has her little horn points so she's got more exaggerated fluff points and probably horn points in her horn cartilage/bone whichever

Both her mama have blue eyes so she inherited that she also got paler arms from great grandmeau and grandma mew. Big ol fluffy face in phlurri style because fluffy babyyy

She takes a lot after Circe physically because (Circe has the better reference of expressed features) Circes mew genes probably merge with and amplify Imps mew genes making them more phlurri world leaning in design than my world leaning

Also a shiny baby! Mainly because I probably couldn't mix Imps purple and Circes green into a nice color and I think her fluff works better with green plus she looks so minty! Like a little mint! Very cute to me with a darker tail tip like mama Imp rather than light like Circe

Her tail spots were originally purple like Imps and as much as I liked it and thought it was cool I had to accept that I couldn't force purple into the pallete, so I shifted and altered it to this green and then lowered the opacity, I suppose it'd make them like great uncle Flurry? Spots gang

I headcanon she's actually got quite a thin tail that's just incredibly fluffy, since Imp has a thinner tail reminiscent of a mew but it's definitely all muscle don't wanna get hit by it.

She'll either grow more visible chest shoulders as she grows or because of the way Imps cloned mew dna and Circes altered mew dna interact her shoulders remain quite fuzzy without a hard covering with just a thicker chest/half chestplate. Yes I just kinda forgor it oops

I'm noticing parts I missed when cleaning up if you notice no you didn't

I will admit I did struggle with this as Imp doesn't have many traits to mix, had I been clever (which im not) I definitely would've played into Imp having fairy dna and given Nymph features from that fairy line but I don't actually know where Imp gets her fairy dna from or if its enough to really express properly she just had parts here and there added to make her more docile so it unfortunately isn't enough to use in clever design.

She's called Nymph because the idea in my head was definitely more greens and pinks and what's green and pink? A flowering tree, Circes name is associated with magic, magic tree? Nymph. Plus a Nymph is a baby insect and Imp would probably call her Nymph with the expectation that when they're older they'll shed their baby name and pick a new one for themselves cause Imp definitely has weird mixed feelings on her own name. I think I'm also pulling from the concept of Elves having baby names until they're adults.

I love her very much your honor, there was gonna be other art of Imp and Circe holding Nymph while holding hands but the art spoons are gone and i feel guilty enough making everyone wait so long for these lmao, (tho I kinda wanna write a drabble for them we'll see)

Now that Rini is over, this is my headcanon for a potential male love interest for Ricky if they were to make his character Bi

In my head he looks like Sam Holland (Tom Holland's brother)

He'd be the new kid in school, a foreign transfer student from England (because british accents 🤤)

He's charming with an easy going smile. He doesn't take anything too seriously. He's kind of a lone wolf, liking the quiet that comes with being by himself, though he does get along with people easily. He's also a shameless flirt when he likes someone, and that someone just happens to be one Ricky Bowen.

Ricky first sees him at the skate park. He notices almost immediately because he knows everyone at the skate park, except this dude.

He's chilling in the corner, no skateboard in sight. Instead he has a BOOK and he's READING.

Who reads at the skatepark?

Their eyes would meet and the boy would slowly give Ricky a charming grin while looking him up and down.

Ricky would freeze, suddenly unable to move, unsure why he just got nervous butterflies in his stomach. Then he'd quickly turn away and start skateboarding, hoping to get away from the new kid and his smile that caused that weird feeling

He'd feel the other boy's gaze on him the entire time and try to avoid making eye contact. He had no clue what this kid's deal was with the staring but it was starting to frenzy his nerves to the point that he almost stumbled off his board three times.

Eventually he decides to go home. On the way out he can't resist looking over, and to his confusion the boy is still watching him. The boy shoots him another smile on his way out and Ricky practically bolts out of there, wondering why the hell there were wild butterflies in his stomach

Ricky runs into him, literally, while rushing to get to class on time because of course he's running late.

When they slam into each other hands grasp his arms to make sure neither of them fall

"Oi mate, be careful there."

When Ricky meets the boys eyes his own widen in surprise and he almost curses.

Because of course it was the boy from the park. And of course he was much better looking up close. And of course he was freaking british.

Why did Ricky notice he was handsome? Why did it feel like Ricky's heart was in his throat? What was happening?

Ricky stutters out an apology and explains that he was running late for his class.

The boy just gives another one of his charming, easy going grins that Ricky has come to love hate and reassures him its alright.

The boy can probably tell that he's about to rush off again and quickly asks if he knows where room 204 is.

And Ricky could've sworn his heart stopped.

That was his chemistry class he was currently late for.

And when he tells the boy so his grin gets wider and Ricky could swear his eyes almost glitter with hidden mischief

So together they make their way to chemisty class, rushing but not nearly as frantically as Ricky had been

"I'm Jesse by the way." (Don't come for me, I love that name)

"Ricky."

And when they enter the class Ricky is met with knowing looks from his peers and a usual glare from Mr. Boden.

"Of course you're late, Bowen. New school year, same you."

Ricky cringes and kept help but be a bit hurt

"Actually it's my fault, sir. I was lost trying to find my way here and clumsy me ran into him in the hallway. We had to pick up all his stuff and then he offered to show me the way here after finding out we had the same class. I'm Jesse, by the way. Foreign transfer student."

Ricky could practically hear the girls, and even some boys, in his class swoon over the easy charm he oozed. Ricky felt a tightening in his gut as the girls all made googoo eyes at him.

Was he jealous? The fuck was that?

Mr. Boden luckily buys his story and shoos them off to the only available table in the back of the room, meaning that they would be partners for the rest of the year.

That feeling of his heart being in his throat suddenly came back.

Jesse on the other hand looked extremely pleased.

And as the class went on, soon enough Ricky was pleased as well. His nerves slowly went away, though they always idled right at the surface.

Turns out Jesse was extremely intelligent and was happy to help Ricky as much as he could

Ricky found Jesse extremely easy to talk to. He was funny and great at keeping the conversation going. They talked about the school and about themselves.

Well, actually mostly about Ricky. Jesse seemed to want to know everything about the other boy while only sparing a few details about himself.

It also turns out that Jesse knew absolutely nothing about personal space because even though they had the whole bench to sit at Jesse's stool was placed directly next to his with only an inch of space between them

Everytime their knees or arms bumped into each other Ricky could swear his heart was trying to come out of his throat, and the whole thing was very confusing

But from that class on they had four more classes together. And in each class they'd sit together and joke and get to know one another more.

And from that day on they were friends. Jesse would always be waiting at Ricky's locker in the morning with a smile that seemed to be just for him.

And usually Ricky would arrive with some kind of breakfast treat because a few days into their friendship he noticed that Jesse never ate lunch and always grew uncomfortable whenever asked. So Ricky would bring him breakfast and buy him lunch or pack him a lunch, no matter how much Jesse had originally argued against it

And Jesse helped Ricky with his homework and because of that Ricky so far has not missed a single assignment yet.

Ricky learned that Jesse lives with his grandmother, and she doesn't like loud noises, which is why after school they'll either hang out at Ricky's house, the skatepark, or Big Red's pizza place

Ricky's dad likes Jesse and is very happy Ricky is making more friends. Especially since Jesse seems to bring back the old Ricky before Nini broke his heart

And Ricky would introduce Jesse to his friends but they'd rarely hang out with them. Selfishly, Ricky knew deep down he wanted to keep Jesse to himself. And luckily Jesse seemed to not mind only having him around

But one night at Ricky's house he catches Jesse singing to himself when the brit thought Ricky was in the bathroom. And he was good.

So Ricky takes it upon himself to drag Jesse kicking and screaming to try out for the school play, something Jesse vows to get him back for. But they sing a song together and Ricky can't help but see that their voices just fit. And when they both get roles in the play Jesse can't help but be a little proud

And throughout their relationship Ricky becomes an expert at bi-panic. Any time they touch or look at each other too long his heart races. When Jesse unashamedly flirts with him he can't help but stutter. Or how his heart will completely stop whenever Jesse shoots him his smile. And during the nights Jesse spends at his house, which are becoming quite frequent because he hates being at home, Ricky can't help but admire the sleeping brit in the bed beside him, and it takes all his effort not to touch the curls falling over his forehead.

And all of it is very confusing to Ricky who had never in his life thought of a boy like that before. As cute and lovely. The same way he used to think about Nini....

And the thought is utterly terrifying

But then Jesse will smile at him and he'll calm down and suddenly he's just not that scared of the thought anymore.....
