#I am 100% aware that DL is not for everyone because really it was made for a pretty niche audience
One thing that’s puzzled me about the fandom in recent years is the increasing hate towards the boys.
That’s not to say I think there aren’t good reasons for disliking them, because there are, I am fully aware that they’re all awful in one way or another, and I’m used to seeing these opinions from people outside the fandom.
I’m just confused as to why you would join a fandom and engage with its content when you don’t like over 90% of the main cast?
This isn’t by any means a complaint because, you know, this doesn’t really affect me and it’s your life and you can do what you want in your own time, I’ve just never encountered another series where I’ve seen this sort of thing and I don’t feel like the story/world-building in DL is good enough in canon to really act as a reason to stay?
I guess the reason why I’m so puzzled is because for me, the cast of DL are what makes the series. Sure, none of the characters except Yui can be described as good people (in fact the rest of them fall under the dictionary definition of a red flag), but I find them interesting enough that it makes up for all of the retconning and the incredibly inconsistent lore.
In my opinion there are series out there with characters who, you know, are not all bastards, and much better storytelling and worldbuilding than DL, but at the end of the day, you do you friends, I will just be sitting here on the sidelines, a little confused.

Hey Admin, there is this one thing I would like to ask you. You have read/played so many routes but I’m really wondering why you chose Ayato your favorite Diaboy if there are 13 in total?I know he is the main one but is there anything that makes him better than the others in your eyes ?(I hope you don’t get this wrong,I like him but I just want to know why you like him the most)
//I sense that this post is going to turn out so long xD
Before starting writing down about this,i want to let you know that this is simply MY opinion, therefore it’s perfectly fine if you disagree with me.Also,TW!
I am aware that Ayato is definitely not the most interesting character but he’s truly the nicest of them all and that’s even confirmed by Rejet.
Although he did bad things in HDB,his route was way softer than the ones of his other two brothers.I’m not excusing his actions,he can be abusive and a big brat too but compared to other characters,he’s not even half as bad.
We know Ayato’s nickname for Yui is “Chichinashi” and despite the fact that it sounds offensive at first,he doesn’t say it in a degrading way,but in a teasing one. When he calls her like that,he’s in a playful mood and yeah,Yui got mad at first but it’s not like she took it personally. She always replied with either “Hey,I have a name!” Or with “I do have some!” .Also,at some point, Yui gets happy when she gets called like that because that means Ayato’s happy as well. You can notice that everytime Ayato’s being serious,he calls Yui by her name and unlike many Diaboys, he has never called her ugly (sounds like the bare minimum but anyway). A part of this fandom acts as if Ayato is the only one who insults Yui’s looks but he is actually the one who calls her pretty in EVERY game.
Shu and Kou might be the characters who degraded her the most. In Kou’s MB route, all the insults make Yui question herself if she truly isn’t cute at all. In Shu’s MB route, he calls Yui’s face“ugly” a huge amount of times and on top of that,he debases her body and basically everything about her.Should I also mention that he slut-shames her for every little thing she does? And the fact that he’s not kidding and is being 100% serious makes it sickening even for a vampire.I like both of them as characters but sorry no, Yui deserves way better than you two.
Now we’re back to Ayato’s acts of niceness.
There is this one scene in Laito’s HDB route, where Laito handcuffs Yui in the torture chamber and Ayato hears her and helps Yui take the handcuffs off. Then even Yui admits that Ayato’s surprisingly kind and everything’s just fine until Laito suddenly appears and decides to provoke Ayato to suck her blood.
In Laito’s LE route,Laito doesn’t accept the fact that he has became king therefore he doesn’t take any responsibility. Ayato,on the other hand, tries to help his brother, fills up the place and checks on the Demon World situation for him, plus he takes care of Yui too.Ayato actually feels really bad for him and even admits that he’d suffer if Laito died.
Ayato is the only Diaboy who always saves the heroine, even in game prologues. In the MB one,he helps her when Richter is close to assaulting Yui.He’s also the one who saves her during the car crash. In the DF prologue,he protects Yui from the wolves who have attacked them and ends up severely injured.
In Kino’s LE route,Kino holds them hostage, therefore Ayato gets burned alive and tortured but he still cares more about Kino not doing anything bad to Yui.
What has always made me sad is the fact that everyone in the DL universe underestimates Ayato. Throughout his life he had been mentally and psychically abused by his mother but unlike other characters, that’s not something that only happened in the past but it’s still happening in the actual timeline too.
He gets told things such as “failure”, “disappointment” , “nobody loves you”, “you will never be a good king” and many more,by other Diaboys. These are things he’s canonically very insecure about but nobody seems to care therefore they simply put salt on the wound.
The thing is ,Ayato might act like a bully sometimes but he never means the things he says,he knows what topics to avoid so as he won’t trigger anyone’s trauma and I wonder,if he cares about that ,why can’t others do the same too? Even Yui admitted that she’s done with people who keep mistreating Ayato!
In his LE, Ayato loses control over his powers and ends up blowing up the house.Everyone gets so extremely mad at him for doing that but they surprisingly forgive Kanato for blowing up a whole clan??? And unlike others,Ayato has apologized.
Apparently the reason why some Diaboys kept degrading Ayato is because of “jealousy”.Sorry but that’s just some sort of dumb excuse.
What I really appreciate about Ayato is the fact that he’s so forgiving!
In his DF route,he forgives his mother. Can you believe it? He was able to forgive Cordelia, the person who abused and ruined him!Honestly, this shares the same vibe with Yui forgiving the Diaboys for all the things they did to her.
In CL, despite Ruki insulting him way too much, Ayato gets worried when he and others suddenly faint and is willing to help them.
As I mentioned earlier, Kino tortured Ayato, even so Ayato forgives him and on top of that, they kinda befriend each other.
I will absolutely never feel bad because Ayato is considered “the main hero” by Rejet. He deserves it 100% because he’s the most heroic Diaboy out of them all and I’m not even saying it for the reason that he’s my favorite, that’s simply obvious.
I know it’s unfair that he’s getting more spotlight than others, but I’m still glad that he’s able to prove everyone how wrong they were about him.
Also his design is extremely eye-catching and he got such charismatic features!(*´∇`*)
Taking everything into account, yes,Ayato got plenty of flaws,he’s far from perfection but I can’t deny how amazing and kind (for a vampire) he is.

Living with Diabetes: What You Should Know
Hi friends!
Some have you have asked for an update on how my husband is doing since his diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes. Read his story here. He’s taking over the blog today to give you guys an update about some of the things he’s learned over the past 4 months, as well as some of the things we think everyone should know and be aware of when it comes to diabetes!
On March 9th, I drug my sluggish, thirsty, insatiably hungry, constantly urinating, 33-year-old body to the doctor for my annual physical. I had convinced myself that I had a thyroid issue because I didn’t want to believe I could have diabetes, even though my wife had already suggested the possibility… My doctor called me back within the hour and told me to go to the ER because my blood sugar was over 400mg/dl (100 is normal). It was definitely diabetes, and I was devastated.
Four months in, I can confidently say to anyone else recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes: “EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK! YOU ARE IN CONTROL!”
I’ve cried twice since I got diagnosed. The first time was when I was calling my wife to tell her we needed to head to the ER, and calling my Mom to ask her to watch the kids. I think it was just the shock that something seriously bad had happened within my body and it would never be the same. I had tears rolling down my face as I drove.
The second time, I was reading a book that began by highlighting how diabetics are at higher risk for dozens of terrible afflictions. This was probably four days in. I had remained uncharacteristically calm and rolled with the punches up to this point- the punches primarily being adding insulin, needles, and lancets into my life. I was trying to arm myself with more knowledge and was taking the initiative to educate myself. Too much, too soon. The levee broke. I put that book down and lost it. I started sobbing uncontrollably. I was thinking about my kids, my wife, and how their healthy and physically fit father/husband had been leveled to a heap of rubble.
However, with a little more experience and education, I learned that diabetics WHO DON’T HAVE GOOD CONTROL OF THEIR BLOOD GLUCOSE, are at much higher risk for those things. Simplified, blood with a lot of sugar in it is bad. It’s thicker. It’s like a sludge gumming up your body/engine. Hurting capillaries in your eyes, nerves, your organs- it’s not good.
Luckily, I’ve been able to learn the ropes pretty quickly, and I’m happy to say my A1C is already back down from my initial 12.7% to 5.9%! (That’s good). Now I actually believe my mantra. “EVERYTHING IS OK! I AM IN CONTROL!”
Learning about diabetes has kind of been like trying to take a sip from a firehose, but wanted to share some thoughts on my 4-month crash course of adjusting to this new lifestyle.
What I’ve learned over the past few months
I really knew nothing about diabetes- and a lot of people don’t. Here’s what I thought I knew:
My grandma had Type 2
TRUE (maybe?) She was told she had Type 2, but based on what I’ve learned, she definitely could have had Type 1 as some people are misdiagnosed as Type 2 when they are in fact Type 1 or 1.5.
Kids get Type 1 and Adults get Type 2
FALSE. I honestly didn’t think I could get Type 1 at age 33. This disease does not discriminate based on age.  You can get it at any age.
Diabetics need Insulin
Type 1 yes, Type 2 maybe.
People who have it just get an insulin pump and it handles it.
FALSE. And SO very false indeed. My good friend in high school had an insulin pump and I never really asked about it. I thought it just did everything for her. Now I realize how wrong I was. If anything, the pump really just minimizes the number of times you need to pierce your skin. You still need to count carbs and bolus. You adjust settings and rates based on what you’re doing. It’s still a lot of work and you should high-five any type 1 friends you have for working around the clock to keep their numbers in check, whether they have a pump or not.
Here’s what I think most people think they “know” about diabetes:
Wilford Brimley says “Diabeetus”
This is True
You can’t drink alcohol
FALSE. You can, you just have additional concerns that most people don’t need to think about. I’ve found that red wine has basically no impact to my blood sugar and am able to drink some types of beer, while others spike my blood sugar no matter how I time it or how much insulin I take. It’s a trial and error process that’s different for everyone.
You get it because you eat too many donuts
False for Type 1, but eating habits can definitely play a role in the development of Type 2.
Here are the KEY points that most people can’t articulate:
Difference between Type 1 and Type 2
Type 1- Body stops making insulin. You have a bum pancreas so you must act as your own pancreas and take insulin.
Type 2- Body becomes resistant to insulin. Your pancreas is likely cranking out a ton of insulin, but it’s still unable to regulate your blood sugar because your body is resistant to it. This can often be mitigated by diet and exercise but oral medication or injected insulin may still be required.
What is Insulin?
It’s a hormone that transfers glucose from your blood to your cells. It’s essentially how you get energy from the food you eat.  When you don’t have enough, sugar hangs out in your bloodstream until it builds up and your body tries to filter and pee it out. That’s why constant urination is a symptom. And of course, FATIGUE, since you are not getting much-needed glucose into your cells.
And here are my main takeaways since being diagnosed:
It’s SO IMPORTANT to know the signs, no matter who you are. You could be the key to saving somebody. It could be a friend, a friend’s child, your own child. Encourage them to go to the doctor if you notice or hear them complaining about:
Constant Thirst
Frequent Urination
Fatigue
Rapid weight loss
Complaints of blurry vision
Your health and lifestyle are such an important buffer against the unexpected.
I think more than anything, I can credit my lifestyle for bouncing back quickly from my initial diagnosis. I had lost 20 pounds. Because I was already exercising and eating well, really the only thing that changed for me was having to take insulin. I easily gained the 20 pounds back and am feeling great again. An active, healthy lifestyle is also so important.
Attitude is everything.
Your efforts are better spent attacking diabetes head-on than wallowing in self-pity. I’ve focused on figuring out how to thrive with this condition and that’s made it easier to tackle on a day-to-day basis.
It’s a full-time job.
There are no days off. It’s rare that more than an hour or two goes by where I don’t think about my blood sugar.
You can adapt to diabetes quickly.
After only 4 months, it’s already like second nature. Counting carbs. Bolusing and timing insulin. Knowing how your glucose will react to different foods. Knowing how to adjust your insulin if you’re going to be doing different activities like yard work or cleaning the house. It’s hard to believe I didn’t even know what Type 1 diabetes was at the beginning of March.
Diabetes won’t hold you back, you just have to plan around it.
I have juice boxes stashed everywhere. Sometimes I have to turn around and go back to the house if I forget my insulin. But at the end of the day, I’m doing the things I want to do, they just require a little extra planning.
If it had to happen to me, thank God it happened to me at this point in my life.
I would not have had the discipline, ESPECIALLY AS A COLLEGE STUDENT, to deal with this. I once ate an entire “Barnyard Buster” at TeeJays country place and a Steakburger platter at Steak and Shake during a night of drinking. If you’re local to central Ohio you know how disgusting that is. Shout out to all the T1Ds who were able to manage adolescence and college years carrying this heavy responsibility.
That’s all for today! Let us know if you have any questions!
Enjoy! –Lindsay–

Alright, NFC East time, y’all. There are a lot of super competitive divisions this season. The AFC West, AFC South, NFC South...all pretty fucking decent. The NFC East is definitely the toughest to predict though. The Cowboys won it last year and should keep things rolling this season, especially once Zeke gets back. Kirk Cousins keeps throwing for pretty decent numbers despite everyone assuming that this is the year he regresses. How is literally nobody convinced that he’s a good quarterback yet? Not even me and I am fully aware of how ridiculous that is. Carson Wentz is a ass hair away from being a top tier guy. One big step forward and Philly is a serious contender. Then there’s goddamn Eli Manning. Let’s get into it.
NFC East Crew..
QB - Eli Manning, Giants
RB - Zeke Elliot, Cowboys
TE - Jordan Reed, Redskins
WR - Odell Beckham Jr, Giants
WR - Dez Bryant, Cowboys
FLEX - Terrelle Pryor, Redskins
OL - Lane Johnson, Eagles
OL - Tyron Smith, Cowboys
OL - Trent Williams, Redskins
OL - Zack Martin, Cowboys
OL - Travis Frederick, Cowboys
DL - Brandon Graham, Eagles
DL - Fletcher Cox, Eagles
DL - Damon Harrison, Giants
DL - Olivier Vernon, Giants
LB - Jordan Hicks, Eagles
LB - Sean Lee, Cowboys
LB - Zach Brown, Redskins
DB - Josh Norman, Redskins
DB - Landon Collins, Giants
DB - Janoris Jenkins, Giants
DB - Malcolm Jenkins, Eagles
Offensive Player of the Year - Odell Beckham Jr, WR - Giants
Defensive Player of the Year - Fletcher Cox, DL - Eagles
Rookie of the Year - Evan Engram, TE - Giants
Breakout Player of the Year - Su’a Cravens, SS - Redskins
Comeback Player of the Year - Jason Pierre-Paul, DL - Giants
Newcomer of the Year - Alshon Jeffery, WR - Eagles
Offensive Player of the year would have been a no brainer for this division if Zeke Elliot weren’t missing the first six games of the year. Shit, I still think he ends up the best RB of the bunch. But you got another blue chipper in the division. ODB. I used to substitute teach at a school in Little Rock and all the cool kids had his hair. He’s this generation’s Deion Sanders and it’s not even close. Defensive Player of year is Fletcher Cox. He is a renaissance master’s oil painting of an NFL 3-technique. This division is so fucking loaded on both sides of the ball. With all the talent around him I would guess Cox comes out of this season with at least double digit sacks. Rookie of the year is going to Evan Engram. Tough call because TEs are generally not great as rookies but Engram could really be special early on. He’s already one of the most athletic TEs in football but a great route runner and landed on a team with a lot of talent around him. He’ll lose some targets but won’t get nearly as much attention as most first round picks at his position. I think Jonathan Allen will have the best career out of all the rookies in this division but he’s going to get so much attention all season. Plus he’s not playing a glory position. He’ll be two gapping in a division full of really excellent offensive linemen. Couple years down the road and he’s an All-Pro, for now he has a solid rookie year but lacks great numbers. Comeback player of the year is JPP. He’s got most of a year playing with 7.5 fingers under his belt. He should only get better from here, right? Not sure how that works. Newcomer is Alshon Jeffery to Philly. I actually don’t even think he’s the best new WR in the division. My guess is Terrelle Pryor goes for about 400 more yards and 2-3 more TDs. The difference is who’s throwing him the ball. Cousins isn’t Joe Montana but he’s definitely more settled in as who he is as a QB than Carson Wentz. Philly has hitched their wagon to the boy from Fargo. He was solid as a rookie last year but now has a true #1 WR. Breakout Player of the Year is Su’a Cravens who has retired and unretired since I started this blog post. With the uncertainty I’ll switch it up to Byron Jones for now.
I could honestly go four different ways at QB. I went Eli because of the talent around him. Wentz and Dak Prescott have way more potential but I always worry about the possibility of a sophomore slump even if all things are pointing up. It’s very possible Eli is the absolute worst QB in this division.
RB looks like this: 10 game Zeke > 16 game Rob Kelley. 10 game Zeke > 16 game Paul Perkins. 10 game Zeke > 16 game LaGarrette Blount.
There are a few guys that could’ve gone before Terrelle Pryor, maybe even on his team (Jamison Crowder) but Pryor went for over 1000 yards in his first full season as a WR in the NFL for the Browns when he had a mixture of Kevin Hogan, Cody Kessler, and I don’t know...Brian Hoyer??? throwing him the ball. A solid QB situation with a great offensive line, decent WR/TE options around him and no great running game...I think TPJ is going to go big this year. As far as the other two go..I think Dez could lead the NFL in TD receptions and ODB could lead the NFL in yards.
Jordan Reed is the clear favorite at TE assuming he stays healthy unless you count blocking ability then Jason Witten might have a claim but nobody cares about blocking really. Zach Ertz has a chance to challenge Jordan Reed if Reed is hurt.
This is probably the best division for offensive linemen in the league. I’m an Arkansas boy. Lifelong Razorback and University of Arkansas alumni and so when I don’t include Jason Peters into this group it means this is a great group. The only question was Peters or Lane Johnson and I honestly believe Johnson is bound to be one of the three or four best linemen in the league. Also, how is Tyron Smith only like 26? He’s probably another year or so from hitting his prime.
This division may not have the best defensive line but it’s close. Even the Redskins and the Cowboys who are a little thin have good talent. Fletcher Cox along with J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald has a claim for the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL. Snacks Harrison is very one dimensional but he is just so fucking good against the run his lack of pass rush ability can be overlooked. Brandon Graham and Olivier Vernon are two of the most solid, all-around DEs in the game.
It was tough leaving Ryan Kerrigan out of this group (and also the DL for that matter) but these three linebackers are all three a little more well-rounded and better at what they specialize at than Kerrigan. Jordan Hicks is on his way to being one of the absolute best coverage linebackers in the league. Sean Lee does everything very well. Zach Brown was the closest but he beats his new teammate out by a hair. Better against the run, better in coverage, and although he will only have half the sacks..that’s not bad considering how much more productive he is in every other aspect of the linebacker position.
Byron Jones Su’a Cravens were really the only guys I was considering. Assuming Cravens actually plays this year and has his head in it, he should push for 100 tackles with plenty of opportunities as a pass rusher and in coverage. If Jones had more productive in coverage (as far as turnovers go) he would have made this list. On top of that, he is hoping a young, depleted line gets enough pressure on opposing QBs to give him looks at INTs. Janoris Jenkins and Marcus Peters both proved themselves last year as true shut down guys. Malcolm Jenkins and Landon Collins both have great athleticism and versatility. Jenkins is great but Collins has done nothing but produce at a top tier rate his two years in the league and with his best defensive crew around him I can’t help but think he’ll be even better this year.
This division is tough but I gotta go with the Giants. The NFC East is notorious for never producing repeat winners so you gotta think it’s different this year than last year. I think the Giants will have one of the best defenses in the game this year and if the O-line holds up there should be enough talent on that side of the ball to hold up.
Yeah boys and girls...AFC East up next. Oh shit, who wins that one, right?!
