There's something very cute about Abigail specifically saying that she's going to turn Lothi into Professor Xavier's Christmas wig, because there is literally not a chance in Hell that Lothi knows who Professor Xavier is. That joke is for Hank and her alone. Lothi is just like, uhh, okay, threat to my life, got it.
I also appreciate the subtle progression from Warren Ellis' Astonishing X-Men here, where Hank and Abigail have moved up from xenophiliac experimentation partners.
These panels are also significant because you get a really good look at Lothi, and . . . he looks like Hank. Or rather, Hank looks like him. Hank looks like Abigail's people. I know, I know, there's something very Freudian about Abigail mentioning that Hank looks like her father in Astonishing panels away from saying she wants to break him like a pony, but I feel like this issue, and Sanders' style for Hank, really sell the familial connection and Abigail's longing for home in a less quasi-incestuous fashion.
I feel like Lothi also might have hit on Hank a bit here? Tall, dark and furry, saying Abigail's done well for herself?
I also just like these two being in sync, and a good team, and the fact that no-one runs like Hank McCoy down a hallway.
