I started thinking that how my current rats were ageing felt off (they're two years old with zero cysts, tumors, energy loss, what have you with standard female rats), so I contacted their breeder for lifespan research of their breed's line.
Rats usually live two years.
These guys are looking at a standard of four years apparently.
I think dwarf rats should become the pet rat standard after owning them honestly, very little health issues and a way more reasonable lifespan for a companion pet.
Also they are so cute. They look like 5 week old standard rats forever with zero drawbacks to this.
