Iranian Filmmakers Face Fight or Flight Amid Political Turmoil
By Nick Vivarelli
Tumblr media
Credit: Les Films d'Ici/Berlinale
The wave of protests sparked across Iran by the death of Mahsa Amini by Iranian morality police in September came amid a banner year for Iranian cinema.
But as 2023 kicks off, more than 500 people who have protested her death and called for justice have been killed while prominent members of the Iranian film industry were either arrested, put on trial or banned from making movies. The result being that the country’s cinematic community has largely ground to a halt.
Which raises the question: unless something changes, how many films actually shot in Iran will be surfacing on the international festival circuit going forward?
In 2022, Iran-based directors landed slots in all major international film festivals and won major awards. Revered auteur Jafar Panahi took the Venice Special Jury Prize for “No Bears” and Houman Seyyedi’s tragicomedy “World War III,” which was Iran’s candidate for the international Oscar, scooped two statuettes on the Lido.
But 2023 is kicking off with only films by Iranian diaspora directors launching on the fest circuit. Case in point: native New Yorker Maryam Keshavarz’s “The Persian Version,” which bowed at Sundance.
And the widening divide between Iran’s expat directors and Iranian filmmakers living in the country is stark at the Berlinale.
Berlin’s Panorama section, which is titled “Films as Tools of Resistance,” is opening with Paris-based Sepideh Farsi’s feature “The Siren” which provides a timely take on the Iran-Iraq war. Incidentally, the section also features a doc by Indian director Sreemoyee Singh titled “And, Towards Happy Alleys,” which is about Panahi, who was recently released from Tehran’s Evin penitentiary after spending seven months behind bars on charges of “anti-government propaganda.”
But the only film in this year’s Berlin selection that is by an Iran-based director is Negin Ahmadi’s doc “Dream’s Gate” which depicts an all-female Kurdish militia in Northern Syria.
Berlin’s artistic director Carlo Chatrian says this year he actually received more submissions from Iran than ever before. But the fest’s selection committee was leery of Iranian films, many of which came from companies affiliated with the government. Why? “Because for them it’s a statement saying: ‘OK, this is not true what people abroad are saying about us,’” he said.
Chatrian added that “at times films [from Iran] that from the outside look independent are not fully independent,” so they can still be seen as a form of government propaganda.
In solidarity with the protests sparked by Amini’s death, the Berlinale has banned Iranian government film industry entities such as the Farabi Cinema Foundation, Iran’s national film promotion outfit which has been attending Berlin’s European Film Market with a stand for years.
And on Feb. 18 there will be an event on the Berlinale Palast red carpet to shine a spotlight on the fest’s position against Iran’s repressive regime.
Berlin’s executive director Mariëtte Rissenbeek pointed out that it’s bound to be more difficult these days for filmmakers in Iran, most of whom are anti-government, to make films. “They are for freedom of expression, which is exactly what the Iranian state is trying to fight right now,” she said.
That, of course, is indeed the case.
“Iranian cinema is now under attack in Iran,” noted “World War III” helmer Seyyedi, in an email interview from Tehran. “As a middle-aged man who is deeply involved with the present problems, I have no idea if I will really be able to start making another movie in future. We will have to wait and see what happens.”
According to Mohammad Attebbai, head of Tehran-based sales company Iranian Independents, at the moment “Iran’s nearly 50% inflation and its severe censorship codes dissuade anyone from investing in a movie.”
Attebbai added, “There are lots of filmmakers who, like many others in the country, believe it is impossible to keep living in Iran and are trying to immigrate.
“They simply cannot tolerate the situation any longer, with censorship getting much worse and film production slowing down dramatically,” he said.
Most artists at present are banned from travel outside Iran.
Significantly, two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi, Iran’s best-known director, is currently working on his new film in Los Angeles and Europe. Farhadi was at the Zurich Film Festival when protests following the death of Amini erupted. He voiced support for the protests and has returned to Iran since.
As an Iranian diaspora director, Paris-based Farsi said she now feels a greater responsibility “to carry on the flag of making films that are relevant and have to do with Iran, though maybe not directly.”
“I don’t know how ‘The Siren’ will travel,” she pointed out. “But for sure I would really love people in Iran to see it.
“The end of the film has hope, and I really would like them to feel it as glow of sun for the near future of Iran. Because I’m really hoping that we will reach a victory soon.”

Best Iranian Series
Best Iranian Series Since 2009
Since 2009, when the first video on demand (VOD) series was made and released in Iran, this new means of broadcasting movies and series has had several highs and lows all the way up to the present day. However, the introduction of online VOD streaming services is seen as a watershed moment for this sector of the entertainment business. Because of this, we have compiled a list of the best Iranian series here.
Tumblr media
In the beginning, nobody took this newly developing market very seriously at all. However, after some time, it became abundantly clear that it is a very difficult competitor for television in light of the fact that it does not have the conventional audits and regulations of content that are present in television, nor does it have its monopoly in the field of production. The most prominent figures in Iranian cinema have made their way into the video on demand industry in recent years.
1- Yaghi Series
The Outlaw Series (Yaghi) is, without exaggeration, one of the best Iranian series up to this point. The meticulous and star-studded series that holds the audience’s attention throughout each episode and makes them eager to see the next episode. Yaghi series has become the stage to see the presence of stars such as Parsa Pirouzfar and Tanaz Tabatabai together, the forceful and distinct presence of Niki Karimi and Farhad Aslani, and the gorgeous appearance of Ali Shadman along with Amir Jafari. The book Salto, which was written by Mehdi Afroozmanesh, served as inspiration for the creation of this series.
Tumblr media
The story of Yaghi series focuses on a young man called Javid who, despite facing opposition from his family, friends, and a culture that encourages him to go in the other direction, is determined to make a path for himself and ultimately achieves his goal. According to the official description, the series Yaghi narrates a story about a hero’s journey that is full of highs and lows and has a cast of individuals from a variety of socioeconomic strata who either help him along the way or get in his way. In order to succeed, Yaghi himself often has to push through excruciating pain and exhaustion.

Producer: Seyed Maziar Hashemi
Screenwriters: Mohammad Kart, Pedrampour Amiri, Hossein Domari
Cast: Parsa Pirouzfar, Ali Shadman, Tanaz Tabatabai, Amir Jafari, Farhad Aslani, Niki Karimi

2- Mortal Wound Series (Zakhm-e Kari) 2021
The Mortal Wound, a series that was produced just for the Filmo platform and is widely considered to be one of the most intriguing shows of the year 2021. The book Twenty Mortal Wounds served as the basis for this VOD series adaption. The “Zakhm-e Kari” series is the first series that was created by Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian. This series has a unique narrative in comparison to the director’s subsequent works.
The following is a synopsis of the events that took place in Mortal Wound: An emergency arises in the Rizabadi family, and as a result, everyone is eager to get a portion of this huge business. But Malek recounts a different tale, one that is replete with remorse and political maneuvering “Do you agree that winter is one of favorite seasons here? It is lovely, although it may be challenging to…”.
Director: Mohammad Hossein Mahdovian
Producer: Mohammadreza Takhtkashian
Cast: Javad Ezzati, Rana Azadivar, Hanieh Tavasoli, Saeed Changizian, Elahe Hesari, Abbas Jamshidifar, Mehdi Zaminpardaz, Amirhossein Hashemi

Tumblr media
3- Frog Series (Ghoorbagheh) 2019
It is one of the best Iranian series that was able to catch the attention of the public, and the director of that series is Houman Seyyedi. The series is called “Frog.” The tale of the series is told in a new setting, and the filmmaker makes an effort to keep the film’s distinct tone intact all the way through until the conclusion of the series. It is seen as a positive step forward for Houman Seyyedi’s career, despite the fact that it does not have a satisfying conclusion.
The following is a synopsis of the story: The Frog series tells the tale of an ordinary and almost unlucky person who rises from obscurity to become wealthy; the challenges that are placed in the path of this character from the story and also how he faces each problem complete the story line of this masterpiece. The story of the Frog series is related to the achievement of wealth, but at what cost?
Director and writer: Human Sidi

Tumblr media
4- Jeyran Series
The Jeyran series tells the narrative of a romance of sorts and a game of power that takes place in an Iranian court. A tale that, despite the fact that it is set in the past and relates the story of what happened there, is not a historical series. It is a fast-paced series that makes an attempt to depict love in a fresh light. The extraordinary nature of this series may be attributed, in large part, to the participation of well-known actors like Bahram Radan and Parinaz Izdiyar, as well as to the outstanding work of Merila Zarei and Amir Jafari.
Be sure to pay close attention to the clothing design of the Jeyran series while you are watching it since this is one of the ways in which it excels above other instances of its kind. The following is a plot summary of the story: the series focuses on the life of Jeyran, who was Naser al-Din Shah’s favorite mistress and his first. The time period of the narrative is the 19th century in Iran. Jeyran is one of the best Iranian series.

5- Shahrzad Series
Shahrazad series is considered the best Iranian series so far. One of the most important reasons for this reception were the actors of the Shahrazad series, all of whom were considered stars of Iranian cinema. The first season of this drama, romantic and historical series was aired in 2014 and was quickly welcomed, so that the next season was made and aired immediately. The story of Shahrzad series takes place in the 1950s and is a romantic story in a historical context.
Shahrazad is a love story between two loving couples. Shahrazad (played by Taraneh Alidousti) is a medical student and Farhad (played by Mostafa Zamani) is a literature student and journalist. These two are in love and intend to get married. Farhad’s father (Mehdi Soltani) and Shahrazad’s father (Mahmoud Pakniat) are both of the people listening to the great Agha (Ali Nasirian) who was a powerful and influential person in the country at that time i.e. 1954 during Mossadegh’s era.
Farhad and Shahrazad were among the staunch supporters of Dr. Mossadegh until Farhad was arrested and hanged on charges of murder and conspiracy against the monarchy. The Bozorg Agha has only one daughter named Shirin (Parinaz Izadiyar), who is the wife of his nephew Qobad (Shahab Hosseini), who is a proud girl and loves Qobad, but Qobad is not interested in Shirin at all and is forced to carry on because of the fear of his uncle’s power. Shirin and Qobad do not have children, and the Bozorg Agha, who wants to have a grandchild to have an heir later, decides to take Shahrazad, who is Farhad’s fiancee, as a second wife for Qobad.

Third Season of Shahrzad
But in the third season of the Shahrzad series, the answers to all questions are clear. No mystery remains in relation to any character and all the pieces of the puzzle are put together. Shahrazad’s life situation improves and Shirin reaches a more suitable mental state. In the meantime, Farhad is conspiring with his friends to make a plan to make Dr. Mossadegh escape.

6- Made in Iran 1
The Made in Iran 1 Series is a social satire series that has gotten a lot of attention owing to the star-studded acting team as well as the utilization of locales and actors from outside of Iran when it was being aired. Five years passed between the filming of the first and second seasons, yet despite this, the second season was unable to match the popularity of the first. The lives of two friends who are without jobs and who often find themselves in precarious situations are the focus of this series. If you are looking for an Iranian comedy series, Made In Iran 1 is considered the best Iranian series in this genre.

7- Raaz-e Bagha (The Secret of Survival)
The comedy series Raz-e Bagha, also known as The Secret of Survival, is an option worth considering. The director, Saeed Agakhani, is responsible for the series, and it is included among his other successful works. The majority of the performers in Raz-e Bagha had already collaborated with AghaKhani on the television series “Noon KHeh,” making this the least risky aspect of the production.
Tumblr media
The events that transpire in the Raz-e Bagha series are centered on the passing of a character by the name of Rahim Timsar. Through the course of the show, we get familiar with this individual and gain insight into his life. The actions and conversations of two people called Hatam and Rahim serve as the primary center of the narrative. The situation between these two characters becomes more tense once Rahim becomes acquainted with a peculiar and questionable organization.
Director: Saeed Aghakhani

Screenwriter: Amir Vafaei

8- Eclipse Series
The Eclipse series is considered to be one of the greatest examples of Iranian VOD serues in the social drama genre. Maziar Miri, whose filmography includes hits like Saadat Abad and Howz-e Naghashi, is the director of this series. Miri’s prior work includes other popular films as well. The majority of the show’s stars are well-known and well-respected, and in addition to them, this series has also given us our first look at several promising newcomers to the acting world, making the show one of the best Iranian series.
The events of this series get underway in the college where the protagonist, Amir, is a student. Even though he had committed to marrying his cousin, he has developed feelings for another girl. This forbidden love tale is taking place behind their families’ backs, and they are completely oblivious of it. But as it is discovered that Amir has feelings for another girl, the plot really starts to pick up steam, and the problems that are presented in the story get underway.

The 2019 Iranian Film Festival
For a period of about five years in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, Americans had a chance to see Iranian films regularly at arthouses and festivals. That dropped off quickly, with the nation’s cinema getting reduced to Abbas Kiarostami and Jafar Panahi (if we thought about it at all.) Asghar Farhadi’s 2011 “A Separation” became the most popular Iranian film ever made, grossing seven million dollars in the U.S. and winning the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, but it didn’t open doors for his compatriots, although Farhadi himself won a second Oscar and has remained an arthouse fixture. While Mehrdad Oskouei’s documentary “Starless Dreams” ranks with the best Iranian films of the past decade, it got a minimal American release despite a lengthy tour of the international festival circuit, where it won 21 awards.
North American cities like Chicago and Toronto have ongoing annual Iranian film festivals. In New York, RogerEbert.com contributor Godfrey Cheshire and Armin Miladi, who operates the distributor Darichei Cinema and has programmed an Iranian film festival in Sydney for eight years, have launched an equivalent series at the IFC Center. It runs from January 10th to the 15th. The festival kicks off with Bahman Farmanara’s “Tale of the Sea,” and also includes his 2014 “I Want To Dance,” whose screenings were held up by Iranian censors till last year, and 1979 “Tall Shadows of the Wind”. The late Kiarostami’s shadow hangs over it. “Tale of the Sea” is dedicated to him (Farmanara produced his second feature, “The Report”).  It features Panahi’s “3 Faces,” which pays extended homage to many elements of his style, and the documentary “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds With Abbas Kiarostami,” accompanied by his final short “Take Me Home”.
Cheshire says “I'm excited about starting the festival right now because there have been new developments and talents emerging in Iranian cinema recently that I think New York cinephlles who know the films of Kiarostami, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Farhadi et al. will find really fascinating. In effect, a primary goal Armin and I have is to link the work of previous generations with younger talents like Mani Haghighi, Abbas Amini, Houman Seyyedi and Asghar Yousefinejad.”
In “Tale of the Sea,” Farmanara plays Taher, a writer who has just been released from a mental hospital into the care of his wife Jaleh (Motamed Arya), who wants to divorce him because he’s so difficult to live with. But for now, they live in a house on a beach, where he meets with friends, a former student turned activist (Saber Adar) and, eventually, his long-lost daughter Parvaneh (Leila Hatami.) “Tale of the Sea” establishes a somber mood with deliberate pacing, a minor-key orchestral score and Farshad Mohammadi’s muted, blue-toned cinematography. The film consists of one-on-one conversations, and for its first hour, Taher participates in all of them, although the audience learns that he’s an unreliable narrator. It may as well be divided into three acts with on-screen titles, with the final half hour developing far more storytelling momentum. “Tale of the Sea” works best when it cares more about gradually exploring Taher’s life than building a narrative out of it. Still, its echoes of Bergman and Chekhov add up to a moving reflection on aging and mortality.
Mani Haghighi’s “Pig” generated some buzz at last year’s Berlin Film Festival. Its reflexive look at filmmaking evokes a far more juvenile take on “8 ½”. While it feels distantly inspired by the way Jafar Panahi’s reputation rose after his arrest, it comes across only slightly more mature than its anti-hero, Hassan (Hasan Manjuli). He’s a 50-year-old director who has been blacklisted. His home looks like a man-cave, with a huge poster of AC/DC guitarist Angus Young on the wall, and he relies on the women on his life to stay grounded while cheating on his wife Goli (Lili Rashidi) with a beautiful actress (Hatami). The Iranian film industry is being attacked by a serial killer who decapitates directors – including “Mani Haghighi” – and carves the word “pig” on their heads.
Aided by the great cinematographer Mahmoud Kalari, Haghighi achieves a distinctive look, using bright, stylized colors. “Pig” departs from naturalism by venturing into surreal dream sequences and gory shootings. In one especially memorable scene, Hassan nods out in a police station and imagines himself singing new lyrics to the tune of AC/DC’s “Hell’s Bells” backed by an all-female band wearing devil’s outfits. But the film mostly expresses a free-floating anxiety that doesn’t resonate when its protagonist is such a jerk. It satirizes a midlife crisis, but as hard as it tries, its attempts at wit fall flat. The potshots at social media and commentary on Iranian cinema are tepid. “Pig” works best as a character study of a man who’s never been pressed to grow up.
The premise of Abbas Amini’s “Hendi and Hormoz” could be a wallow in poverty-porn: 13-year-old Hendi  (Zohreh Eslami) marries 16-year-old Hormoz (Hamed Alipour), who can’t find legal work to support them after he gets her pregnant. However, Amini pays careful attention to the teenage couple’s surroundings: the film captures the red dust and pale green leaves of its island setting evocatively. Its look contains a desolate beauty. Hendi and Hormoz comes across as individuals, not types. Forced into an arranged marriage, they become intimate while barely knowing each other, and Eslami’s performance conveys the way her character has grown up too fast. She brings across a sense of trying to stand by Hormoz without fully understanding what he has to go through to get by in their everyday lives. Satyajit Ray’s “Pather Panchali” hangs over the film, but closer to home, Oskouei’s bleak documentaries about island life seem like an inspiration, although they’re even blunter about the pressures imposed upon women.
Like numerous gangster films, Houman Seyyedi’s “Sheeple” suggests that crime doesn’t pay and will land you in jail, but the road to get there can be pretty exciting. As Shahin, a drug dealer who works under the thumb of his older brother Shakur (Farhad Aslani), Navid Mohammadzadeh chews the scenery, and then some. The film’s opening and closing scenes, as well as its English-language title, suggest a subtext about how power plays out that it does live up to, but through concentrating more on the pathos of family life as on the workings of the drug trade. Shahin and Shakur were raised by an opium addict, who left a permanent scar with a hot soda bottle on his forehead which he styles his hair to hide. In turn, Shahin takes his anger out on his sister Mona (Marjan Etefaghian.) He disapproves of her job as a hair stylist and really goes postal when a video of her sitting in a car with a man and taking off her scarf to show him her ponytail winds up on-line. The film obviously gets a kick out of Shahin’s macho posturing, as does Mohammadzadeh. It stages a few stylized and bloody action scenes. However, by the time the film ends, he seems like a thirty-year-old boy whose rage is expressed constantly but gets him nowhere: the consequences of his actions are definitely felt. “Sheeple” synthesizes tropes derived from American genre cinema with an anger and urgency reminiscent of the films Makhmalbaf made in the late ‘80s.

IRANIAN FILM MAGHZHAYE KOCHAK ZANG ZADE 2018 – مغزهای کوچک زنگ زده
https://workhomeonlinemarketing.com/iranian-film-maghzhaye-kochak-zang-zade-2018/
Few filmmakers can be found, such as Hooman Seyyed, to slowly and steadily build his filmmaking path, and in this way grow in his film in the same way as the previous one, and offer new aspects and at the same time reach the sophistication in his personal style. “The Razzled Little Minds,” the latest version of Hooman Seyyedi, which is the best and most complete work of his film career, testifies to this claim. “maghzhaye kochak zang zade,” either from a script that is a self-contained CD or from a paid subject and structure, is a feature film that completes the filmmaking path of a young filmmaker who does not care about others and, in the way he chooses, step up in full knowledge. He takes his personal style into evolution.
HOUMAN SEYYEDI
“Rough-trodden little brains”, unlike the “fury” made by Sydney’s previous controversy, have not come up with a true story and social problem, and it means a word of a storyteller’s drama that propagates its heroic narrative.

Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review Life without will
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review |Life without will
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review
Houman Seyyedi is one of the young directors of Iranian cinema. He has become a prominent director with his high-quality films in recent years. Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh can be considered the peak of Houman Seyyedi's film career. This film achieved very good sales in Iranian cinemas; on the other hand, critics also gave very good marks to this film. Many critics believe that Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is the best and most coherent film of Houman Seyyedi. According to all the essential parameters in cinema, from the script and direction to the selection and performance of actors, photography, music, etc., this movie has a remarkable quality. We are with you in this article with Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review.
Tumblr media
Houman Seyyedi; A director who knows his job
If you are a movie lover, you must know that there is a great director behind every excellent and high-quality movie. No good film can be made without a professional and skilled crew. Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is no exception. From the first minutes of this movie, you realize that you are watching a different film. A movie that is supposed to entertain you and make you think. Maghzhaye koochak-e zangzadeh's film has several layers and appropriate complexity, unique visual expression, and excellent technical aspects. It has become one of the most popular and best-selling works of Iranian cinema.
Houman Seyyedi, the director of this film, has been able to convey the concept he had in his mind to the audience with a good narration. The peak of Houman Seyyedi's art is where the film's concept is presented to the audience from the beginning.
Tumblr media
In the scene where Shahin (played by Navid Mohammadzadeh) says: "They say that if there is no shepherd, the sheep will perish. Either they will get lost, or wolves will attack them, or they will die of hunger because they have no brains. Anyone who does not have a brain needs a shepherd. A compassionate shepherd." The shepherd has the authority of the father of the sheep. A person is nothing without a father... He tells us when, where, and what to do. When to sit, when to sow, when to die."
The story of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh
One of the important parameters in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review is the story of this movie. In fact, a movie without a good story is just a collection of images that are put together. At first glance, the film's story is straightforward and routine. But as we go further, the deeper layers of the story are revealed to the audience.
Tumblr media
In general, Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is about the leader of a criminal group named Shakur (played by Farhad Aslani). He leads a group of criminals on the city's outskirts, and Shahin and Amir are among his closest soldiers. Soldiers who were once orphaned or badly cared for children have now become brainless criminals. Criminals who only need the shepherd to order them to do it.
The story is straightforward at first glance, but deep human concepts are revealed over time in the film's story. Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review is not possible without considering this aspect of the movie. Houman Seyyedi has tried his best to make a fun film and teach people about freedom because some think they must have a leader or shepherd.
But do humans have the same life as sheep? Can they finally be freed from their shackles? Why are some people afraid of being without a shepherd? Are they afraid of death or hunger? Houman Seyyedi has tried to answer all these questions in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh. However, the conclusion in this film is entirely up to the audience, and the director has implemented his idea in Maghzhaye koochak-e zangzadeh with the least disclosure and only with good subtlety.
Why Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is a great movie?
All the praises of the movie Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh make the question arise for the audience, are we on the side of a great film? The answer to this question is positive. Despite some flaws in conveying the concept, this movie is one of the best movies of recent years in Iranian cinema. A film that was able to receive very prestigious awards in many international festivals. Navid Mohammadzadeh's wonderful acting, along with Farhad Aslani, is another parameter that makes Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh a great movie. To prove this claim in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review, we go to some of a movie's most important quality parameters.
The wonderful performance of Navid Mohammadzadeh and Farhad Aslani
The unique performance of the actors can make a movie last. Al Pacino's performance in The Godfather and Anthony Hopkins's in The Silence of the Lambs are examples of this claim. For this reason, in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review, it can be said that one of the reasons for the greatness of this movie is the wonderful acting of the two main actors of the movie, Navid Mohammadzadeh and Farhad Aslani.
Tumblr media
However, the characterization of the characters of Shakur and Shahin is well done, and they can be believable for the audience. Shakur and Shahin are well portrayed as father and son or shepherd and sheep, and Navid Mohammadzadeh and Farhad Aslani have managed to handle this twisted relationship well.
Unique story telling
Many movies have a good story, acting team, and good cinematography. But in the end, they cannot attract the audience. One of the main reasons for this problem is the lack of a catchy, exciting, and appropriate narrative. A good director and screenwriter should be able to tell the story of his film in such a way that the audience is waiting for the following film sequence.
Of course, in some slow-narrative cinematographic works, the story itself is considered an advantage or characteristic. But in action-packed drama films, the fast pace of narration is significant. In Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review, we must mention that the narration of this movie is wonderful. In fact, from the opening sequence, the audience is well attracted to the film, and this fascinating narrative continues until the film's end.
Deep concepts of human life
As mentioned, Houman Seyyedi has tried his best to portray concepts such as free will, free life and thoughtless disobedience in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh. For this reason, it can be said that the movie got a good score in terms of concept and purpose.
Everything is not money!
Shakur, one of the biggest and strongest criminals in his city, has a lot of wealth. On the other hand, Shahin struggles with the history of poverty and wants to have a lot of wealth. But Houman Seyyedi has proven the claim that Everything is not money! Because at the movie's end, Shahin faces a situation where he has his dream, but nothing is worth the past for him. In his film, Seyyedi does not say Everything is not money!, but portrays it.
Tumblr media
The twist of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh story
One of the points that should be paid special attention to in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review is the deep layers of the story of this movie. We are not in favor of a one-line story. Instead, we are going to watch several layers of different characters. That's why the plot twist of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh has made it a great movie. However, this plot twist is not narrated well in the final sequences, and the general audience may be unable to connect with it. However, in Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh, we are on the side of one of the best story twists in Iranian cinema.
Tumblr media
Excellent cinematography, music and technique
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh also has a lot to say regarding parameters like music, cinematography, and technique. The tense music of the film can convey the feeling of stress to the audience. This is much more evident in the emotional sequences of the film. The cinematography of Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh is also unique and can surprise you. For example, in the movie's opening sequence, slow motion is well used so that you can get to know the movie's characters with all the details.
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh; A film that makes you think
Maghzhaye koochak-e zang zadeh movie review was a challenging task. Because all the parameters of this movie were at an excellent level, it was difficult to fault it. However, in this article, we examined this film work of Houman Seyyedi from different aspects of cinema. A film that teaches us to live freely and shows us that awareness can destroy all the shackles of human life under the cruel yoke.

Best Iranian Series | Top Iranian Video On-Demand Series You Should Watch
Best Iranian Series | Top Iranian Video On-Demand Series You Should Watch
Best Iranian Series Since 2009
Since 2009, when the first video on demand (VOD) series was made and released in Iran, this new means of broadcasting movies and series has had several highs and lows all the way up to the present day. However, the introduction of online VOD streaming services is seen as a watershed moment for this sector of the entertainment business. Because of this, we have compiled a list of the best Iranian series here.
Tumblr media
n the beginning, nobody took this newly developing market very seriously at all.
The meticulous and star-studded series that holds the audience's attention throughout each episode and makes them eager to see the next episode.
According to the official description, the series Yaghi narrates a story about a hero's journey that is full of highs and lows and has a cast of individuals from a variety of socioeconomic strata who either help him along the way or get in his way. In order to succeed, Yaghi himself often has to push through excruciating pain and exhaustion.
·         Director: Mohammad Kart
·         Producer: Seyed Maziar Hashemi
·         Screenwriters: Mohammad Kart, Pedrampour Amiri, Hossein Domari
·         Cast: Parsa Pirouzfar, Ali Shadman, Tanaz Tabatabai, Amir Jafari, Farhad Aslani, Niki Karimi
·         Broadcast year: 2022
2-    Mortal Wound Series (Zakhm-e Kari) 2021
The Mortal Wound, a series that was produced just for the Filmo platform and is widely considered to be one of the most intriguing shows of the year 2021. The book Twenty Mortal Wounds served as the basis for this VOD series adaption. The "Zakhm-e Kari" series is the first series that was created by Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian. This series has a unique narrative in comparison to the director's subsequent works.
Tumblr media
The following is a synopsis of the events that took place in Mortal Wound: An emergency arises in the Rizabadi family, and as a result, everyone is eager to get a portion of this huge business. But Malek recounts a different tale, one that is replete with remorse and political maneuvering "Do you agree that winter is one of favorite seasons here? It is lovely, although it may be challenging to...".
·         Director: Mohammad Hossein Mahdovian
·         Producer: Mohammadreza Takhtkashian
·         Cast: Javad Ezzati, Rana Azadivar, Hanieh Tavasoli, Saeed Changizian, Elahe Hesari, Abbas Jamshidifar, Mehdi Zaminpardaz, Amirhossein Hashemi
·         Broadcast year: 2020
 3-    Frog Series (Ghoorbagheh) 2019
It is one of the best Iranian series that was able to catch the attention of the public, and the director of that series is Houman Seyyedi. The series is called "Frog." The tale of the series is told in a new setting, and the filmmaker makes an effort to keep the film's distinct tone intact all the way through until the conclusion of the series. It is seen as a positive step forward for Houman Seyyedi's career, despite the fact that it does not have a satisfying conclusion.
Tumblr media
The following is a synopsis of the story: The Frog series tells the tale of an ordinary and almost unlucky person who rises from obscurity to become wealthy; the challenges that are placed in the path of this character from the story and also how he faces each problem complete the story line of this masterpiece. The story of the Frog series is related to the achievement of wealth, but at what cost?
·         Director and writer: Human Sidi
·         Producer: Ali Asadzadeh
·         Cast: Navid Mohammadzadeh, Saber Abar, Sahar Dolatshahi, Fereshteh Hosseini, Mehran Ghafourian, Anahita Afshar, Mohammad Amin Shirbaf, Ehsan Mansouri, Nima Mazaheri, Saeed Haj Ali, Siamak Al-Mahbiyan and Homan Seidi.
·         Broadcast year: 2019
 4-    Jeyran Series
The Jeyran series tells the narrative of a romance of sorts and a game of power that takes place in an Iranian court. A tale that, despite the fact that it is set in the past and relates the story of what happened there, is not a historical series. It is a fast-paced series that makes an attempt to depict love in a fresh light. The extraordinary nature of this series may be attributed, in large part, to the participation of well-known actors like Bahram Radan and Parinaz Izdiyar, as well as to the outstanding work of Merila Zarei and Amir Jafari.
Tumblr media
Be sure to pay close attention to the clothing design of the Jeyran series while you are watching it since this is one of the ways in which it excels above other instances of its kind. The following is a plot summary of the story: the series focuses on the life of Jeyran, who was Naser al-Din Shah's favorite mistress and his first. The time period of the narrative is the 19th century in Iran. Jeyran is one of the best Iranian series.
·         Director: Hassan Fathi
·         Producer: Ismail Afifeh
·         Screenwriter: Ehsan Jovanmard, Hassan Fathi
·         Cast: Bahram Radan, Parinaz Izdiyar, Amirhossein Fathi, Amir Jafari, Roya Teimourian, Mehdi Pakdel, Rana Azadivar, Kataneh Afsharinejad, Setare Pesiani, Ghazal Shakri, Morteza Ismailkashi, Homan Barknoord, Mehdi Koshki, Samira Hasanpour, Fateme Masoudifar, Behnaz Nazi
·         Broadcast year: 2021-2022
 5-    Shahrazad Series
Shahrazad series is considered the best Iranian series so far. One of the most important reasons for this reception were the actors of the Shahrazad series, all of whom were considered stars of Iranian cinema. The first season of this drama, romantic and historical series was aired in 2014 and was quickly welcomed, so that the next season was made and aired immediately. The story of Shahrzad series takes place in the 1950s and is a romantic story in a historical context.
Tumblr media
Shahrazad is a love story between two loving couples. Shahrazad (played by Taraneh Alidousti) is a medical student and Farhad (played by Mostafa Zamani) is a literature student and journalist. These two are in love and intend to get married. Farhad's father (Mehdi Soltani) and Shahrazad's father (Mahmoud Pakniat) are both of the people listening to the great Agha (Ali Nasirian) who was a powerful and influential person in the country at that time i.e. 1954 during Mossadegh's era.
Farhad and Shahrazad were among the staunch supporters of Dr. Mossadegh until Farhad was arrested and hanged on charges of murder and conspiracy against the monarchy. The Bozorg Agha has only one daughter named Shirin (Parinaz Izadiyar), who is the wife of his nephew Qobad (Shahab Hosseini), who is a proud girl and loves Qobad, but Qobad is not interested in Shirin at all and is forced to carry on because of the fear of his uncle's power. Shirin and Qobad do not have children, and the Bozorg Agha, who wants to have a grandchild to have an heir later, decides to take Shahrazad, who is Farhad's fiancee, as a second wife for Qobad.
  Third Season of Shahrzad
But in the third season of the Shahrzad series, the answers to all questions are clear. No mystery remains in relation to any character and all the pieces of the puzzle are put together. Shahrazad's life situation improves and Shirin reaches a more suitable mental state. In the meantime, Farhad is conspiring with his friends to make a plan to make Dr. Mossadegh escape.
·         Director: Hassan Fathi
·         Producer: Seyyed Mohammad Emami
·         Authors: Hassan Fathi, Naghme Samini
·         Cast: Ali Nasirian, Taraneh Alidousti, Shahab Hosseini, Mostafa Zamani, Parinaz Izadiyar, Ghazal Shakeri, Mehdi Soltani, Mahmoud Pakniat, Hooman Barghnavard, Amir Hossein Rostami, Abolfazl Pourarab, Jamshid Hashempour, Roya Nonahali, Reza Kianian, Amir Jafari,
·         Broadcast year: 2016 (first season), 2017 (second season), 2018 (third season)
·         Directors: Mohammad Hossein Latifi (First season) - Barzo Niknejad (Second season)
·         Screenwriters: Khashayar Elvand, Arash Qadri, Peyman Qasemkhani (First season) - Amir Arabi (Season 2)
·         Cast: Amin Hayai, Mohammad Reza Golzar, Farhad Aslani, Behnam Tashkar, Pamela El-Kaik, Pir Daghar, Gohar Khairandish, Elika Abdul Razzaghi, Bahare Rahnama, Mohsen Kiaei, Mehran Ahmadi and Sara Bahrami
·         Broadcast year: 2010
7-    Raaz-e Bagha (The Secret of Survival)
The comedy series Raz-e Bagha, also known as The Secret of Survival, is an option worth considering. The director, Saeed Agakhani, is responsible for the series, and it is included among his other successful works. The majority of the performers in Raz-e Bagha had already collaborated with AghaKhani on the television series "Noon KHeh," making this the least risky aspect of the production.
