First the Temple High Priest in collusion with King Herod wanted to kill Jesus but for the safety of Jesus, Joseph was told to leave Israel for Egypt, the land of the faithful to Abraham and Yahweh son Ishmael born of Hager. The Egyptians looked after Jesus very well indeed as expected of the people who are the salt of the earth. But when Jesus returned to Israel, then hostilities out of jealousy erupted. Pharisees and Sadducees created out of the spiritual blindness hated Jesus celebrating the Sabbath, a Day devoted to Elohim, the Lord of Sabbath for being the Source of His Word, which is the Oral Torah, by performing philanthropic work whilst the greedy Rabbis hated Philanthropy the most and told their congregation, for healing they should another day when they could charge money. This Oral Torah of Mercy as enjoyed by the Samaritan man who picked up the wounded person was missing among the Jewish Rabbis and Jesus came to fulfil it the Law tempered with mercy as the court Rabbis used to do but they not only hated but killed him. Whilst the Rabbis of the faithful to Abraham and Yahweh of the Gentiles and the Samaritans, they were one undivided and St. Phillip Said, “A Gentile never dies for he doesn’t live to die spiritually”. Sarai is impatient about the long delay in the fulfilment of God’s promise for a son. So she takes unjustified action. Instead of honouring God’s ways and waiting for the Lord’s time, she persuades Abram to take Hagar and have the promised son by her. Abram, who did not take Hager because of lust, should have refused. He knows that God will deliver His promises. He also knows God wants children to be born only within sacred marriage. Sarai perverts the law of marriage, by defiling the marital bed, which is meant only for one husband and one wife. Abram and Sarai should not have tried to do anything against the will of God and the legitimate order of nature. God’s displeasure is displayed later when Hagar and her son Ishmael cause much trouble in the family and eventually have to leave. Abram and Sarai should have continued to live obediently in faith. But they failed the test.

  We learn here that God commands his people to be quiet, have faith and wait patiently for the Lord. He will give them everything they need in His time. People who hasten and act independently judge God for not acting as they want. As a result they fall into sin and much misery follows.

  Question: Hagar named the Lord “You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees”. What guidance and comfort is there in this for you?

It is well known that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), The Last universal Messenger of Allah for humanity was an Arab form the tribe of Quraish, the decedents of Prophet Ishmael (pbuh) the eldest son of Prophet Abraham (pbuh). Ishmael in infancy was left in the wilderness along with his mother Hager. They miraculously survived and the place developed in to city of Makkah a religious and commercial centre. Later Abraham came to offer sacrifice of his only son Ishmael, but he was saved by God. Abraham built the first House of Worship of One God along with his son Ishmael, it is now known as Kaba (the direction of prayer for worship of One God (Allah) symbolizing the unity of Muslims). He also established the rites of Pilgrimage (Hajj). The advent of Muhammad has been prophesied in the Old Testament as well as in New Testament.
