no but actually. the parallels to other Twins in different nations of teyvat in relation to the traveler and their desire to reunite with their own sibling makes me a little bit bonkers. like.
diluc and kaeya as what the traveler has and fears, after we will be reunited [separation born from conflict that seemingly cannot be mended; they both care for each other but ultimately their opposing ideals mean they cannot be at each other's side in the same way that they used to, and no longer have the close bond they once did]
ei and makoto as what the abyss sibling experienced [a crushing loss not just of one's twin but the last remaining friend they had and the safety and security of their nation, coming out the other side traumatized, cold and jaded and making decisions that will ultimately hurt the people they claim to want to protect for the sake of an unattainable goal]
and lyney and lynette as what the traveler and the abyss twin used to have before they were separated [never apart for long, home is wherever we are together], what the traveler wants [their separation brief and quickly amended, continuing to be inseparable after they reunite], and also the choice they'll have to make [the twins being together in an organization the traveler inherently doesn't trust - does the traveler want to be by their sibling's side badly enough to throw their lot in with the abyss, and turn their back on everyone else they've met on their journey so far?]

The problem with Mut is that he is a MAME seme and that means he is both absolutely perfect (when he is not with his love interest before they get together) and then an absolute ass with his love interest (before they get together). Which creates an unpleasant dichotomy that makes me uncomfortable because it is basically 'people who are good to others but awful to you are just in love with you and will only get better if you trust them!' and like... I hate it.

i think he would join only for a bit. to fulfill the prophecy, he says, because he feels a pang of pity in his heart when she tells him quietly about it, almost a kind of pity where he feels superior for it but at the same time feels so much worse, she tells him about the prophecy because its the only thing thatd get him to stay (and the thought of telling him theyre even related makes her sick, she doesnt want to hurt him like that, he'd be disgusted being the child of a bloodthirsty clan cat like her) and he stays. and he keeps telling her he'll leave soon. but then tigerclaw launches his attack and she's spiraling and suddenly he's the only thing keeping her afloat, the only thing she can latch onto, and he stays. and i think as the end of her life gets closer he softens to her he recognizes something in her, that he still can't identify but their relationship grows. he wonders what it wouldve been like if she'd been like him, raised away from the cruelty and violence of the forest. he wonders if they couldve been friends, housemates. he thinks she couldve been like a mother to him. he misses his mother.
and then she dies. and before he knows it, hes the leader. he hates this. disgust burns in his throat when he sees his reflection, whenever theres blood on his claws, no matter what he does he hates it. he needs to leave. but he stays. to fulfill the prophecy. to get rid of tigerstar. to make her life have meaning. bluestar wanted the clans to be less violent, he realizes. bluestar wasnt perfect, but he could still try to help. to do what she needed him to do.
tigerstar is dead now.
and he leaves.

This is absolutely not a diss on anyone who did like the Collector's ending there's merits to it and interpretations that make it more reasonable but sometimes idk it's such a let down when you're watching a show about found family, acceptance, healing from abuse, etc and you get attached to this character only to never see them get more than a gentle dismissal.
I have to wonder what kids who are more like the Collector than the other kids in the show or who have similar behaviors because of neglect feel about that ending. Maybe for some of them the idea of leaving everyone behind to be in their own space would be freeing and exciting but it does come with the implication that the Collector didn't deserve to have a real family.
That's what stings about it I think, I know that wasn't the intention but his resolution really kinda was like "ok now take this and go away" in the end he was too out of touch, too powerful, too weird, too messed up, and no one especially wanted him enough for the writers to justify him staying.
