Oh wow, that’s difficult to answer but … I think I’m going to have to say Denny.

And I say Denny because I think it was the first time I was confronted with the concept that people can do so much and still fail.

Like the whole Denny situation is remarkable.

Izzie has a legit meltdown:

and breaks the law, fam, she steals a freaking heart:

and all of the interns get involved:

Burke gets shot because he comes back to the hospital to check on Denny:

Denny almost dies, they’re freaking interns, they don’t know what the hell they’re doing, not really:

It’s fucking up everyone’s lives:

But Denny pulls through and proposes:

and then he fucking DIES?

Like after all that shit, after everything they went through, after Izzie convinced him to do this, he just fucking DIES??????? ARE YOU SERIOUS? I had never been confronted with something like that before because usually, he would pull through, usually fine there would be repercussions to what they did but you at least get the guy you risked everything for, it at least pays off, but Shonda fucked us all up with that. I remember being in French class and for 25 minutes we just talked about how shocked we were that Denny actually died. My mother actually woke up in the middle of the night, turned on my light and was like, “OK but the way I see it is, Denny HAD to die, Izzie needed to learn her lesson” like no one could believe that it actually happened. And I mean, George dying was really sad and shocking, I did not expect it, but that had happened when GA was already established as this kind of show, Denny was the death that did the establishing.
