赤城山
このところ休日が休日になっていなかったので、朝から健康診断があったというのに終わるなり温泉目指して走り出した。
目標は道の駅中山盆地。群馬県立天文台の近くで盆地の中の高台にある温泉からの景色が美麗である。しかも洗い場が露天に並んでおり、この寒い中すべて外で風呂を満喫できるのだ。
すでに温泉セットを車にセットしてあり、健診会場から直接温泉を目指して出発した。しかし、角をいくつか曲がると正面には壮大な赤城山。そうだ、赤城に登ろう。
赤城山山頂を目指す道は数えるほどしかなく、鳥居を通って有名な桑風庵のある道を登っていく。混雑することはなく、淡々と山道を登っていく。
標高600メートルの看板を見たあたりから少しずつ雪が目につくようになるが、道路には全く溜まっていない。途中の姫百合駐車場のあたりから路面に雪が残り始める。ここまでならスタッドレスは必要なさそう。雪山ハイクの車でいっぱいだ。
上を目指して登っていく。エスクードはフルタイム四躯なので通常路面でもスタビリティが高いが、雪道でも嫌な挙動は示さない。今年は雪が多くないようで、上の方に行ってもアスファルト路面が顔を出している。雪（圧接）路面とアスファルトが交互に出てくるのでなかなか直結四躯にはしづらいが、その必要もないくらい安定している。
見晴山展望台を超えた、あとちょっとで大沼というところで多重衝突で警察が出ていた。5～6台が路肩に寄せていたが、うち2台は結構なダメージを受けているように見え、帰りも同じ位置にいたということは動けない状態なようだ。どんなスピードで走っていたのか。
大沼の周回路に入ると流石に全面雪道。スキー場は子供がいっぱいいて楽しそうな声が聞こえてくる。いきなり本格的な雪国だ。駐車場を巡るがどこもいっぱい。結局泥だらけの駐車場にかろうじて停める。
特に用があって来たわけではないので、何もすることがない。一休みして周回道路を奥に進んだ。
赤城神社の駐車場もいっぱい。その先に赤城山の北側に降りていく道があり老神温泉まで行けるのだが、冬期は閉鎖される。沼に沿って細い道を進んでいくと、一部で有名な群馬県立赤城高原キャンプ場がある。無料キャンプ場なんだが狭くて設備もあまりなく、キャンプ慣れしている人用って感じ。ここも冬期は閉鎖。
この辺は圧雪路になっていると思ったら、やはり所々で舗装路が見える。もう少し進んで日陰の道が雪深かかったので直結四駆にしてみたが、やはりなんの破綻もなかった。
ぐるりと回って元の道に出たので帰ることにした。帰りも特にドキドキするようなことはなかったが、目の前を走っていたアルファードにはちょっと困った。
下りの圧雪路なのでゆっくり走るのは当たり前だが、ちょっとアスファルトが見えるとすぐに加速し始める。次のカーブの手前に雪があるのにブレーキが遅く、しかもブレーキを引きずるクセがあるようで、カーブ途中でふらついちゃってヘロヘロになっている。更にまたアスファルトが見えると踏み込んで、カーブでヘロヘロ。加速するのをやめるか、ブレーキを引きずるのをやめるかしなければ何れ何処かに刺さるだろうと思ってかなり車間距離をあけた。きっときれいな道でタイヤ任せにしか走ったことがないんだろうな。
危ないといえば、姫百合駐車場のあたりで登ろうとしているバイクがいた。ヘルメットにでかい猫耳をつけた革ツナギのソロライダー。すでによくここまで来たな、というような位置だったが、これ以上は無理と察知したようで、Uターンを試みていた。駐車場に入ってみていたらもうまともに走っていられるような状態ではなく、引き返す決断は正解だと思った。ああいうのって「走ってみた！」系なんだろうか。
全部で1時間もいなかったが久しぶりの雪道は楽しかった。それでも時間がなかったので温泉はやめて地元の銭湯に浸かりました。楽しかった。
