Biography/Headcanons
Even as a royal, it’s tough growing up without one of your parents by your side. Giselle Ramdeen lost her mother only two months after she was born to a tragic car accident that always seemed a little suspicious to the people of Trinidad and Tobago, especially since the king never married again after the death of his wife. Rumors swirled around the small country as the people speculated on whether or not the Queen’s death was truly an accident or if there was a sinister cause behind the brakes failing in the town car she had been in at the time. But Giselle knew better. She and her other siblings knew how much her father had adored her mother beyond anything and she also knew that very fact was the reason that she could get away with murder and still have her father never say a bad word against her.
She had lost count of the amount of times people have told her that she was the spitting image of her mother and Giselle had learned at a young age that she could very well use that to her advantage. She reminded the King so much of the woman he adored that his daughter had him wrapped around her finger by the time she was five, much to the dissatisfaction of her siblings. She is the brat that her father turned her into and she wears that title with a wicked smile.
Despite it all, Giselle’s image is very important to her. As much as she is known within the royal circle to be the biggest pain in the ass she is equally known to her people as the light of their nation due to her charitable nature and her media darling persona. She never shows her true nature to the ones outside of the palaces she is housed in, plastering on that fake smile and showing off her ability to act with such sugary sweetness. The only thing she can truly claim isn’t fake in the flashlight of the cameras is how passionate she is about the charitable organizations she supports. Ever since she was little, Giselle has held a place in her heart for the animals that occupy the lands and seas of Trinidad and Tobago. The relationship that the country has with their oceans and the life occupying them have been kept intact over the years and Giselle has had a large hand in making that happen.
Another thing that Giselle has become known for is her ability in the sport of gymnastics. Her father has always encouraged his children to be well rounded and have hobbies outside of their royal duties and ever since Giselle saw someone land their first aerial cartwheel she had been hooked. At the age of four she began training intensely within the sport and she continued to compete until she was twenty, when her royal duties started to become more important to her. The princess still keeps up with the sport and she still has days where she’ll work out and do routines for hours, mostly when she starts to miss the sport and the competitiveness that comes with it.
It is not easy to get to know her. Giselle has learned to keep herself at arms length with people and this reason is mostly where her, what some would call, bitchiness comes from. But the girl is also highly judgmental when it comes to anyone who’s seen as a mess in the public eye. If a person always ends up in the tabloids because of their carelessness with their respective miscellaneous activities she wants nothing to do with them. Messy people are seen as weak in her eyes and people who don’t know how to control themselves are easy targets for her residual anger. That’s not to say she doesn’t have her own issues. For a good while cocaine has been an addiction she couldn’t control. It started in her competition days, Giselle wanting a leg up with her energy and happiness levels, and slowly she formed a habit that could be considered out of control now. She’s tried in the past to stop but the withdrawals would always cut her attempts short so now she’s gotten good at hiding her habit from the world.
