My thoughts on Garry's Mod

Garry’s Mod is a sandbox first-person shooter roleplaying game developed by Facepunch Studios Ltd and published by Valve. Garry’s Mod was released for the personal computer on November 29th, 2006 for the personal computer. Garry’s mod started as a small project developed by a programmer named Garry Newman. The game was originally developed to be a mod for Half Life where players could essentially take any element from the game Half Life and use it for their own creative desires. Eventually, the game gained a massive following leading many people to create their own mods for the game. These mods included popular characters from media, powerful weapons, fast vehicles, hilarious sound effects, and massive in-game maps. Nowadays, these player created mods are what Garry’s Mod is known for. If you can think of it, you can add it into Garry’s Mod for yourself and other players to enjoy. Due to its unlimited creative abilities, Garry’s Mod soared to near the top of Steam’s best selling games and is still there to this day. I purchased Garry’s Mod on Christmas in 2017. At the time, I didn’t have too much to do in the game as I didn’t have many friends who played games on the personal computer. In 2020 during the pandemic however, I was able to play the game quite a bit with some friends as we were all stuck indoors. After several hours of gameplay and hilarious moments, I can definitely say that Garry’s Mod is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It may not have a goal and you do have to rely on your creativity and imagination, but that’s what makes the game special. With your friends, Garry’s Mod is a complete experience and I couldn’t recommend it any other way. If you’re looking for a fun multiplayer creative sandbox experience, definitely pick up Garry's Mod, it’s worth a purchase. Just make sure you remember to install some player models, nobody likes being the default character.

games are better when they have mod support, but mod support shouldn't be what makes them good. the vanilla game should be enjoyable on its own. You can enjoy garry's mod with no addons. there will be less to do, yes, but you can still enjoy yourself.

this is extra true if the game runs poorly without being modded. Minecraft runs like ass without mods like sodium. hell it still runs like ass even with sodium. plus the game has become boring and bloated over the years, making vanilla less fun unless you are a very specific kind of person. minecraft is a bad game to me.

bonelab is a good game to me. it's much more enjoyable with mods, but you could still have a good time in the vanilla game. it could be a better game, definitely, but it's not bad. resonite (a newer vr social platform kinda like vrchat but it's closer to its predecessor neos) is bad. poorly optimized, bad ui, difficult to mod unless you have loads of experience. don't call it infinitely customizable unless anyone can do it. (disclaimer: i have not played resonite, this information comes from the reviews and some friends)
