Exclusive: previously unseen pictures show the quiet, cool style of Louis Tomlinson.
Take a look into Louis’ style staples, from Dries Van Noten to Sacai, through previously unseen pictures courtesy of Edward Cooke, Charlie Lightening and Joshua Halling for Rolling Stone UK by by Joseph Kocharian.
Louis’ stylist, Helen Seamons has tapped into lad culture, blending it with fashion, with oversized Burberry checks, and bespoke Carlsberg motif knits from Adam Jones, that give a fresh take on nostalgia.
There is a playfulness to the bolder pieces that the singer wears […] with touches of streetwear from Adidas, smiley motifs from Raf Simons and and the trusty Brit-pop staple, the polo shirt.
Louis has cultivated a tactile, super-lux wardrobe with knitted pieces from Denzil Patrick, Dries Van Noten mesh, Balmain prints and heritage collegiate Bode that give a louder aesthetic on stage.
This subtle, detailed-orientation flows through into the formalwear, with intricate Bottega Veneta shirts, suits from one of his trusty favourites, Neil Barrett and metal clasped Givenchy suits.
Louis style isn’t over the top, but it’s carefully detailed and considered and very cool.

Saturday, Day Three of the Old Settler’s Music Fest did not start off well. No sooner did we arrive at the venue and before the first scheduled band, Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons, began their set, campers were sent back to the campgrounds and non-campers were sent back to their cars due to a severe weatheralert. After about 45 minutes or so, and a pretty good 10-minute downpour, the arena was re-opened and the music, with some slight schedule changes, back on.
The youth-competition, which featured ten amazing young artists was cut from 3 songs apiece to only 1 song, but those kids nailed that one song. The winner of the competition was Elijah Delgado a 16 year old singer-songwriter from Austin, TX. Other competitors included Christina Bolen, 17 from Lockhart, TX, Riley Edwards & Julia Blackmon, 17 and 16 respectively from Austin, 18 year old Ethan Hanson from new Braunfels, TX, Kendale Walker, 12 from Cypress, TX, Giri , (14) & Uma (11) Peters all the way from Nashville, TN, Mathias Lattin, 16 out of Houston, Jade Vondrew, 17 years old from Buda, TX, and Madi Meeks, 17 from Austin.
Due to the weather delay Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons were rescheduled from the main stage to the Bluebonnet stage later in the afternoon. Which meant first up on the main stage was last year’s youth competitor and Voice semi-finalist, 16-year old Sarah Grace and her band The Soul. It’s easy to see why Sarah won last year’s competition. She is a powerhouse singer and a multi-instrumentalist. Joining Sarah on stage were her younger sister Regan Kimberly on drums and apparent BFF Daniel Holder on bass.
Los Legends featuring Flaco Jimenez, Ruben Ramos and Rick Trevino played a rousing set of Tex-Mex music. This group of multi-Grammy winners put on a heck of a show and had the entire crowd up and moving.
The Nashville based Steeldrivers are a different style of bluegrass. More of a rock and roll meets soul, bluegrass. The band has gone through multiple lineup changes but still maintains that same Steeldrivers sound. The current lineup consist of fiddler Tammy Rogers, bassist Mike Fleming, guitarist Kelvin Damrell, mandolinist Brent Truitt, and banjoist Richard Bailey. The band received a Best Bluegrass Album Grammy Award for its album, The Muscle Shoals Recordings.
One of the highlights of the weekend was blues guitarist Samantha Fish. Samantha had a big year in 2018 winning seven awards, including Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year at the Blues Music Awards. Samantha has been wowing audiences with her guitar skills since she was a teenager. Samantha has toured extensively around the world with the likes of Jackie Greene and Tab Benoit. Later this year she embarks on a US tour with Marc Borussard.
Hayes Carll was up next. The native Texan opened his set with the song “None ‘Ya”, as in Nona ‘ya damn business. As song he wrote based on his relationship with fiancée, Allison Moorer. Like most of Carll’s songs it is not a typical love song. He picked up the pace a bit with “KMAG YOYO” a modern day protest song, chronicling the misadventures of a young soldier in Afghanistan. Other Carll songs include “Jesus and Elvis” , “Drunken and Poets Dream” and “I Will Stay”.
While most of the action was on the main stage on Saturday there were some happening over on the Bluebonnet Stage as well. After the youth competition concluded, the winner Elijah Delgado got toperform a 30 minute set. Then the rescheduled Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons set finally happened. It probably worked out better for them anyway. There was a much bigger crowd in the afternoon than first thing in the morning.
The rest of the day saw Austin’s own Penny and Sparrow, followed by Wood and Wire and then The Lone Bellow. Paul Cauthen and Wild Child closed out the evening at the Bluebonnet stage.
Meanwhile the weather took another nasty turn and temps dropped down into the high 40’s with a brisk wind. The crowd was bundled up in blankets, parkas, sleeping bags and anything they could find to keep themselves warm. Even in the cold weather, the ice cream booth still had the longest line in the place.
Brandi Carlile managed to warm the crowd up though. I have seen Brandi a few times and this was the best performance I have ever seen her do. Maybe she is still pumped up from her three Grammys. She told the crowd don’t let anyone tell you those awards don’t matter, it mattered to her and the twins. The twins being the rest of her band, Tim and Phil Hanseroth. Despite the cold and the wind Brandi delivered. Her voice is powerful and she sings with such emotion. She weaves stories in between her songs some of them funny some of them serious, but all of them entertaining. She talked about how proud she was to be the first openly gay person to perform at the Academy of Country Music Award. She talked about the difficulties of being a mother and she joked that the wind was scaring her a bit up on stage but as long as the aforementioned ice cream stand with its 20ft high ice cream cone was still there she felt safe. Her setlist included “The Story”, “Mother” and the crowd was almost reverently quiet when the trio sang the acoustic melody, “The Eye”. Brandi was joined on stage by “The Lone Bellow” for a beautiful version of “Angel in Montgomery”. She finished off her set with a cover of a Led Zeppelin song, “Going to California.”
Galactic finished off the evening but unfortunately by then the long day and the cold weather had gotten to this Southern California guy and I had to leave.
All in all the 32nd Annual Old Settler’s Music Festival was a lot of fun. It is just the right size. The crowd is friendly and there to enjoy the music. The sound was incredible and it was a weekend full of incredible musicians. Some I was familiar with and some of which I am now a new fan.
See ya next year, Tilmon, TX.

The men’s fashion jury on Harry Styles, Skepta, Justin Trudeau and more | Fashion
Reverend Richard Coles, musician turned vicar, broadcaster and Strictly contestant He’s a handsome fellow, but he looks like he’s wearing the sartorial version of dad dancing.
Greg Rutherford, British long jump champion and Olympic gold medallist White trousers terrify me. Not just because they’re very “female divorcee having a moment”, but because I’d need so much Daz to make sure my children didn’t ruin them before I left the house.
Rick Edwards, writer, presenter and broadcaster He’s dressed like the world’s most average man. I guess the belt is interesting. I can never get these to work, so maybe I’m feeling repressed jealousy.
Stephen K Amos, comedian If you saw Donald Trump dressed like that, you’d think, “No, that’s not right.” But Trudeau looks like he’s about to go boating.
Helen Seamons, the Guardian’s menswear fashion editor JT could have tried a bit harder with his Pride look. The stripy belt wants to be a rainbow, but is four colours short. White jeans are too high-maintenance for real life, and on a march everyone’s mobile with refreshments, which to my mind equates to higher odds of spillages.
RC He looks smashing. Purple was my favourite colour as a child, but I can’t wear it now because I’m not a bishop. Still, I do love to see it on others.
GR It’s all too matchy-matchy for me, but I do like suits in unconventional colours, so props for that. Childish Gambino isn’t afraid of fashion, so he (and he alone) can pull this off.
RE He’s wearing something awful, but he looks fantastic, so I’m confused by this image. He seems to be taking style cues from the Joker, a natty dresser but also a comic book villain – not a group generally renowned for being style icons.
SKA The suit is amazing, the colour complements his skin tone, it’s very smartly cut; he just looks incredibly chic.
HS Three cheers for Donald Glover and red carpet risk-taking. Full marks for his “dress for the award you want” strategy: nothing sets off gold better than purple, a regal classic, and what could be a better accessory than two Emmys?
RC I adore this look. He looks like a super-cool undertaker. Sadly, it’s not one I could adopt: there’s a fine line between compelling and sinister.
GR The sunglasses, the shirt, the coat, the trousers, the shoes… everything was going great, until he visited Claire’s Accessories.
RE I really like this. The coat length is perfect, and I like the cuffs just poking out: it looks fitted and well-tailored. He looks excellent. I’m quite jealous.
SKA He needs the shades to block out the glare coming off that brooch. Last time I saw a brooch that fine was on my grandmother, Constance.
HS Do you know what that crystal brooch is? It’s the medal for the fastest wearing of a catwalk look after a show (Burberry). He might even have taken it off the model’s back as they passed by. Bonus points for the beret, the on-trend hat this winter.

RC I always have to wear black – it’s part of the uniform of being a high church vicar – so I rather like something patterned. It’s certainly an interesting look.
GR I love the bomber. I think it’d look better with a plain black T, but who am I to argue with a bloke who’s married to Chrissy Teigen?
RE I like the trousers. I’m all about a drawstring waistband these days: what a treat for your waist. But then there’s the thorny issue of what the hell he’s doing with his top half. It makes your eyes go funny.
SKA I’m convinced that the T-shirt is attached to the jacket. Like one of those jumper-shirt combos you might have worn to school.
HS It’s quite Hampton Court gift shop, no? A tapestry menagerie from Henry VIII’s banqueting hall reimagined as a men’s twinset. I don’t hate it, but I am pretty sure my mum has the tea towel.
RC He has budgies on his moobs: they look as if they’re flying away from his armpits. I think this is a wonderful fashion thing that I’m just not getting.
GR I tend to wear a lot of black myself, and you can’t go wrong with a black skinny jean, but the shirt gets a thumbs down. I really like birds, but swallows? That’s been done to death. Now, if it were a pair of pigeons, I might be on board.
RE I like the shirt a lot. It reminds me of a souvenir jacket, in shirt form.
SKA With that face and mane of hair, he can wear what he likes. Just look at the name, Harry Styles: he’s an originator of trends, not a follower.
HS Full disclosure: in my eyes, Harry can’t put a foot wrong. The boots are bang on trend and I love this shirt – it’s quite a meta choice, and matches his chest tattoos.
Does Armie Hammer’s winter look trump Noel Fielding’s? Composite: Getty Images/Rex
RC This outfit is high in my esteem – it’s the only thing I could possibly imagine wearing. Although I would look like someone who’d retired early and run out of money. Still, on him it’s very guy-next-door-who-has-a-six-figure-income.
GR If a zombie apocalypse struck, this is what I’d want to be wearing.
RE He’s essentially wearing my winter look so I’m all for it.
SKA Brown shoes with the right outfit can work, but I’m not sure here.
HS This is a perfectly fine casual look from Hammer, but it does look a bit like he forget he was supposed to be at an event and has abandoned his shopping trolley in the cereal aisle and dashed here. Verdict: a little underwhelming but the components are all good staples. Nice sweatshirt.
RC I admire the liveliness of this ensemble – it’s distinctive and unusual.
GR If my memory serves me correctly Noel Fielding once wore a smock dress emblazoned with his own face, so this isn’t the zaniest of outfit choices. It’s not necessarily that the outfit’s awful, more that the fur on the gilet is matted to the point it looks as though it’d wield the faint aroma of fox piss and doughnuts.
RE You can’t really judge Noel by other fashion standards because he’s 100% doing his own thing. You still look at him and think that’s a hot man, because it’s carried off with such zeal.
SKA I’d imagine a lot of this comes from a vintage shop, though of course we all know that when we say ‘vintage’ what we actually mean is ‘secondhand’… they may even be a dead person’s clothes. He looks great.
HS Noel marches to the beat of a different style drum to most of us. I’m a fan of his jazzy GBBO shirt collection, but not these sausage-skin jeans teamed with one of Kate Moss’s castoff gilets circa 2011, though he looks happy enough.
