Sometimes Edward was convinced the world hated him, but he usually didn't had many arguments to support that statement. Life screwed everyone equally at one point or another.

But. Here's the thing.

He spent years of his life making fun of Mustang for not being able to successfully complete his paperwork in a timely manner... just to find himself, similar age and all, behind the colonel desk; with a stack of papers of his own.

Cruel irony for sure.

He took the pen and played with it, not wanting to set his eyes over more papers for the little time he had left in the office. At mere five minutes of his time to leave, the door was knocked.

He sighed, thinking more papers were about to make it onto his desk, and said "Come in."
