Creedence Clearwater Revival eating at a Taco Bell in San Luis Obispo, California. Photographed 1968 by Gerald Gaxiola. Note the bell is missing - pranksters would often climb up on the roofs of the early restaurants and steal them.

Bucking a Trend: John Fogerty Buys His Own Songs
- “I’m really kind of still in shock” songwriter says as 50-year saga ends
While most artists are selling their catalogs, John Fogerty is doing the opposite: he just bought his songs back.
After trying for some 50 years, Fogerty is now the majority owner of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s catalog, Billboard magazine reports.
“It’s not a 100 percent win for me, but it’s sure better than it was,” Fogerty said. “I’m really kind of still in shock. I haven’t allowed my brain to really, actually, start feeling it yet.”
And, as Fogerty put it in a separate statement, he now has “a say in where and how my songs are used.
“Up until this year, that is something I have never been able to do.”
CCR’s label, Fantasy Records, initially owned the rights. Concord bought them in 2004 and Fogerty recently purchased a majority stake for an undisclosed price.
More than 65 Creedence numbers are included in the deal.
“I’m the dad (of these songs),” Fogerty told Billboard.
“I created them. They never should have been taken away in the first place. And that hijacking left such a massive hole in me.”
