4, 11, 14, 18 to help you procrastinate just a bit lmao
thank you giulia, you’re the mvp <33
4: favorite character you’ve written
honestly, it’s a tie between three characters: hadley nolan, from an original work that’s been on hold since 2018 (but you can still read here!! she’s very layered and very flawed, and i had so much planned for her); jamie conway, from another original work that unfortunately never saw the light of day but i still love her and think about her 24/7 (she was on a quest to find out the truth about her father, a master con artist at the age of 18 and probably the most intelligent character i’ve ever written); and finally my babe, addison mallory, from phone swap, whom i don’t even need to talk about because i talk about her enough as it is lol
11: what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?
definitely realism, which i suppose is kind of a broad statement, but that’s because i’ve been seriously writing for about 7 years now and that’s a long time. by realism i mean the sort of thing characters do, say, feel -- i feel like i read my writing now and go yeah, that sounds like thing that a real person would do, that’s how a real person would react. i’m still working on it but it’s definitely the biggest improvement.
14: do you make playlists for your current wips?
sometimes!! depends on how long i’ve had the wip in my head, how long it is, and how actively i’m working on it. i have one for my novel, i have one for my jiara multi-chap au, but in general i don’t make playlists bc i don’t usually listen to my playlists when i’m writing so it’s kind of pointless. but if there’s a song that really sticks out, i’ll write it down lol
18: were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?
the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater, the six of crows duology by leigh bardugo, the secret history by donna tartt, the night circus by erin morgenstern. i think these mostly affected the way i approach plot and characterisation than actual writing style. hemingway’s the sun also rises, salinger’s catcher in the rye, kundera’s the unbearable lightness of being are the ones i’d say influenced my actual style.
