Rabbid biology

[My headcanons for Rabbids' biology. Since this is more of a "scientific" take on them, I'll be using male/female/intersex to refer to biological sex. Slight NSFW warning for the reproduction part]

General

Rabbids are sentient odd rabbit-looking mammals. They are not rabbits nor true lagomorphs, but a sister group on their own and share traits of both lagomorphs and rodents. Rabbids are a very diverse group, but their general body shape is that of a bipedal furry creature with long ears.

Rabbids have very unstable genetics. As such they are often used as lab rats and guinea pigs (with or without their consent). Mutation processes can vary from laboratory-made to magic.

Appearence

Rabbid's fur is usually white with it being sparser around the nose, mouth and belly where the pink skin is visible. While white is the most common color, their fur can come in browns, greys, blacks and can have some light patterning as well. Unnatural colors are a result of genetic manipulation or simply dye. Their fur can be straight (common), wavy(uncommon) or rex/curly (rare) and can be divided in these categories based on their lenght:

Short: the most common one, the fur can be any texture and short, medium-short.

Lionhead: common, the fur can be any texture, it's medium-long only on the head and sometimes ears too while on the rest of the body is short.

Angora: very rare, the fur is straight or wavy and very long, usually hiding the Rabbid's body shape.

Lionhead and Angora Rabbids are able to style their head fur as hair. Dying it it's very common too. Standard fur Rabbids can have some "hair" fur as well, but only as short tufts, for this they are commonly seen wearing wigs. Facial hair can be seen in males and intersex of all fur types (being shorter in Short fur Rabbids) while Lionhead and Angora females can get a beard.

Rabbids come in all shapes and sizes, but they can be classified in these general groups (height measurements counting the ears too):

Standard: the most common shape. They have a small body relative to their head. This size does not surpass 1.50m of height.

Brute: this group of Rabbids are stocky built, with long arms and very short legs. They are usually very strong and can easily reach and surpass 3m in height. (ex. Rabbid Kong, Sweetlopek, Momma)

Dwarf: the rarest Rabbid shape. They're not very different from standard sized Rabbids, but they are very short, less than 1m in height, and usually they have baby like appearences. (ex. Bwario, Professor Backpack, Dryad)

Mutated: as Rabbids are very common lab rats there are a lot of them that have been genetically manipulated. They can have virtually any shape one can imagine, so in this group fall all the Rabbids that cannot fit in any of the previous. (ex Phantom, Madame Bwahstrella, the Sparks).

Rabbid eyes' natural color is usually blue ranging from deep blue to almost green, mutated ones can have more variations in colors.

Biology

Rabbids are a very social species, they usually search for eachother when alone and form very strong bonds. They are also very adaptable and nowadays colonize multiple planets, everyone with their own cultures.

Rabbids can be biologically male, female or intersex. The three genders are more or less equally distributed. There's very little sexual dimorphism: females and intersex's fur is usually softer. As such, depending on the individual, Rabbids express their gender with behaviours, clothes and accessories.

Rabbids are natural burrowers, they can dig a hole to fit in in less than ten seconds. To do this they have large palms on their hands and small black semi-retractable claws on each of their fingers (on their feet too). They're usually hidden behind the fur, but they can be easily be seen if the fur is brushed away or they can be made come out by pressing the Rabbid's fingertip, much like a cat's. These claws are also used for defense and while they're not so sharp, on a very angry Rabbid can cause it's fair share of damage.

Rabbids are very durable creatures. They can endure a lot of physical damage and still be unscatched. To do this they have a very odd skeletal system: some of their bones are able to bend and their skeleton is very flexible like a mouse's. This means a Rabbid can both reduce the damage on the bones and squeeze in very narrow spaces with no repercussions. With such a skeleton, they are also very flexible with even the most bulky ones being able to contort themselves.

Rabbids are omnivorous and will try to eat anything they find appetible even non-food items. For this they have very strong incisors and a remarkable bite force. They have pouches in their cheeks used to store and transport food. These pouches can also be filled with air to appear more threatening when the Rabbid is angry.

Reproduction

Rabbids aren't strictly monogamous, but they prefer sticking to one partner. They don't have mating seasons: females and intersex Rabbids experience heats lasting about a week once or twice at any time of the year and are fertile only in that periods. Intersex Rabbids can both impregnate and get pregnant. All sexes' reproductive organs are hidden inside a slit for protection with only the males' penis coming out for the mating (the testicles are internal).

They build a nest where the pregnant Rabbid will give birth. Both of the parents help with the nesting, with the birthing parent shedding the fur on their belly and the other providing soft building materials.

Rabbids can have up to six kits. Litters of single kits are less common and are usually seen in individuals on their first pregnancy. With so many kits, Rabbids have six teats in total: two on the chest and four on the belly. They are always hidden under the fur and are only visible on pregnant or nursing Rabbids. Only the two on the chest are considered femminine as they may form small breasts (more commonly seen in females and never in males).

Rabbid kits are very small in relation to their parents and they're born with very sparse fur and both eyes and ears closed, opening them only a week after birth. They tend to huddle together or on their parents to stay warm, but in litters with fewer or single kits the parents need to constantly keep them safe from the cold. Both parents take care of the kits, often taking turns as they start being active quite quick and wander out of the nest just as their limbs are strong enough. Rabbid kits make very distinct squeaky noises, but they can also scream when startled or agitated. Among all Rabbid cultures the kits' first "bwah" is always celebrated.

Behaviour

Rabbids talk in Rabbidese, an odd language composed of yells, grunts and "bwaah"s. After the events of Kingdom Battle, Beep-0 and Spawny came up with a translator, but it's unknow how it works as Beep-0 regretted creating it so much he deleted it's creation process from his memory. After this creation, Rabbids have shown to be able to pick on accents. They can make various other sounds as well: a content Rabbid can be heard purring, when very happy or playing they can make odd honking sounds and they can make brief hissing sounds when enraged. Rabbids express their emotions through body language too: they flop by throwing themselves on the floor when particularly relaxed and stomp their feet when angry or irritated.

Among Rabbids, clothes are mainly used to express the individual's style and/or gender. Nakedness is not considered obscene as a lot of them are fine walking around with little or no clothes. However, it usually depends on which Rabbid culture we're taking in consideration, as some of them are more prone to wear clothes than others. Also the environment they're in affect them wearing clothes or not as in colder climates all Rabbids will wear them, while in hotter places they may not do so.

Rabbids are known to be very curious and often they put themselves in danger due to their desire to explore. Nowadays they colonize multiple planets, everyone with their own means of transportation to get there. Their adaptableness and resistance allowed them to thrive in almost any enviroment.

Rabbids' intelligence varies a lot. It usually depends on the individual, but in general they don't seem very bright at first glance: they seem to behave in an almost childish way. However, this behaviour is jst a result of their curiousness. In fact they love problem solving, even if they often don't end up with the easiest or most logical solution. They have shown to be very productive building houses, tools, weapons and engaging in arts of every kind.

I went with a nakey Wolf today. He was a chocolate French Angora and brother of Autumn. If I ever say I miss having angora, I'm a liar. (I would absolutely take another angora tho because I'm a glutton for punishment. So soffffft.) I probably shouldn't have bothered trying to color the body but oh well LOL live and learn I am a baby with colored pencils

Hello I found my cat in basically an alley but he is the most beautiful coat color I have seen on a random street cat but I can't figure out exactly what he is! The base of his fur strands are white while the tips are grey, but I can't find the ticked chart that I want. You can see at the base of his tail he has a 'middle part' where the white fur shows 😂 thank you you're the only one who knows cat genetics that I know and google doesn't get it 😭😭 (his name is Morpheus also ft. Coraline and Tristan)

Dear Rebecca, I wonder that your dresscode for July is still three cardigans in total? If so, you should wear matching woollen babytights too. And woollen body suites to keep the tights in place. The tights should be made of thick angora or alpaca wool, and the last one made of mohair, to show its fluffy character. Color should be white or baby pink, matching either the last cartigan or matching for a two year old toddler, which you are for this summer. So you would remain warm dressed from head to toes for the whole day, even on hot summer days. And in case you show any discomfort in this outfit, you should go to bed with three layers of warm wool under your woollen nigth gown too.

This would be a cosy punishment for the hot summertime, don´t you agree?

2023 spin along plan!

January i want to make a 2-color 4-ply Hawser with the hand dyed baby camel, silk and Merino I already have! Not Shure how exactly yet, but that is for yanuary to worry about :D

February: Stand alone single, i want to make energized Singles for weaving. I'd have to buy it and dontknow yet what fiber and what color (but something dark)

March: spiral yarn, the Gimp! Funny name and gorgeous yarn! Have to buy that too, also no idea what color and fiber

April: Opposing plies, Energized Cable, also have to buy new fiber, and no idea about what color and fiber

May+June: Bouclé, full double bouclé with the angora i spun and hand dyed ages ago

July: cable, 8-ply cable, with a batt of Ouessant Merino. The brown is much deeper and darker then on the picture

August: crepe yarn, the colorfull hand made Rolags i got from @swords-n-spindles .

The 3. Single shall be black, and probably needs to be bought (the black batt i still have will be core spun for my sweater)

September+October: core, I want to make a super coil from my fall batts! But i am not 100% Shure about that yet.

November+December: Novelty yarn, Tail spun that will be so fucking colorfull for weaving!!! Have to buy a raw fleece for that l, but that'll be so fun!!!

i love to do a new big reference piece for my babies every few years, and the time has finally come due… and WOW !!! LOOK AT THAT IMPROVEMENT !!! everyone looks Normal And Alive and Non Bugeyed !!! everyone is a little less pasty white (im talking about you, tanith) !!! i think they all show a lil bit of nice personality in their faces now too which is lovely for me. i love to see my children happy. now to write about each of them

angelo’s line art has the least effort into it here and i was GONNA redraw him but honestly if anyone is going to look like a scrunkly little bug IT IS GOING TO BE HIM !!!!!! It’s been a minute since i’ve drawn his body-saws and on a whim i made them red AND !!! IT WORKS !!! I’M A FAN !!! i think he’s due for a main-outfit change though. not sure. i struggled with finding him a natural-looking skin color too because i’ve slowly made him as a person less undead-corpse-like and i think i’ve found a good spot. for now.

i pulled the perfect angora out of my mind and honestly i am shocked at what i have created. she looks so sweet and kind and innocent here (as she should) that to any unfamiliar observers you’d be hard pressed to tell she’s a big lazy gross vulgar piece of shit rat of a fishwoman. and that is EXACTLY how it should be. i have lost the plot for too long, giving her more sharp edges and a hunched back and wild expressions, but the standard angora really should be deceptively pretty. because that’s my girl.

Mila looks great as always. What more can I say? She’s always perfect. I had fun giving her lips for the first time!

I chose to draw him in his naga/incarnated form instead of the shadow form this time because i wasn’t lazy. I decided to throw a big coat on him, originally intended to be more lab coat-y, but influenced by how fucking cold it is outside i allowed myself to give him a big fur collared one. because if you can’t tell i love giving characters though. i think it worked out well for AMPH here, and now I have to be putting him in all sorts of cowls and capes until the end of time.

speaking of “best ive ever drawn any of them” somnus … THIS IS HIM … i’ve gotten close to capturing him in all the times i’ve drawn him but i think i’ve finally pinned him down here. and of course, he’s hitting the same pose as his wife because they’re cute like that. i ripped his colors straight from the solo reference piece i made for him a while back which has held up quite wonderfully.

LOOK AT MY HANDSOME SON !!! i also decided to stick his full name on here that i’ve kept vaulted up for the reason that i’ve never had to put it anywhere before. if you know why he has “-zoe adamiel” as his chosen full name, congrats, you’re a huge fucking nerd.

learns how to cook pho for you — the long way (as in, the broth takes forever). "What's in this pot?" you sniff curiously, reaching for the lid. "NO!" she shouts, gently catching and restraining your wrist before you ruin your surprise, "IT'S FOOD!" You blink at her, amused glimmer in your eyes, "Food that takes... eight, nine, ten, eleven, noon... over six hours to cook?" She nods firmly, kissing the top of your hand before releasing it, "Please don't look, or smell, or anything! It's for you, for dinner."

isn't great at playing video games, but has a blast watching you game. Asks a fuckton of questions, researches lore and fanart, and replenishes drinks/snacks throughout the session. If you play online/multi (i.e. League of Legends/Overwatch/Valorant), then she highkey enjoys being on speaker. Maintains good team banter, talks shit like a pro, and gives you all the credit whenever you come in clutch, "Oh that wasn't me guys — it's my amazing, wonderful, talented partner playing!"

roleplay! She typically breaks character pretty soon into the scene, but thoroughly appreciates and adores the time and effort put into planning plot and costumes. Really, the costumes are what cause her to break character, because, "Baby, you're so fucking hot!" jumps from her heart to her mouth before she remembers she's supposed to be your professor. "Baby?" you feign confusion, back arching subtly to further present your tits, "It's not too bad in here, actually. I'm not even sweating. Are you feeling okay, professor?" Obvious blush coloring her cheeks, she inhales deeply, stare raking greedily along your frame, "Of course. Thank you for your concern. I don't know what came over me!" already imagining how delectable you'll look sitting on her face, clit swollen against the tip of her tongue, thighs muffling her ability to hear your stuttering moans as you grind down eagerly.

i saw a couple posts about it in early december, right when i was panicking because Tradition demanded that I had a Present for me under the tree, and TADAAAA there was the perfect idea. Easy as pie.

as luck (?) would have it, a couple days later for Second Christmas my mother-in-law gifted me a METRIC FORKTON of merino-alpaca mix in half a dozen very nice colors +_+

so, i just sorted all* my fiber stash. here’s the BEAST.

the most recent additions, with the book, the colorful roving, and some stuff i ordered last year for a project i didn’t work on AT ALL. i’ll start there, i think – with texel, and the Yarn Basics that i never properly learned. it should give me plenty of useable yarn for… stuff. aka The Project, which is: A WHOLE-ASS CAPE/CLOAK that i will make from scratch, from roving to loom!

but let’s zoom out a little and see the worst of it:

please ignore the loom, with its year-old project that i’ll finish in a couple weeks when i finally gather the energy and then wonder why i don’t finish stuff more rapidly and thus more often

in the blue folding box, is all the decently-preserved fiber. stuff that never entirely left its bags – unidentified brown wool, bits of grey and white merino/silk blend, baby camel, *angora*. plus, in the bag, a big floof of “raw” (sorted but unwashed, iirc) wool that came with my hand carders. most of it will need about zero preparation or thought before being used. good. (i also have an actual whole fleece somewhere, smol sheep, very rustic wool, but i’ll see to that in the spring. yum :3 )

… the *red* box, though, is another thing entirely. o boi. most of the stuff in there is leftovers, things that have followed me around for years, moving from bag to bag, a lot of them since before i knew how to deal with fiber to avoid felting during transport, or that’s been cooked a bit too hard or too long while dyeing it. ouch. some (lots i hope) can be salvaged, but it’ll take Work. i’ll make rolags/punis with that, i think *(plus some leftovers from the last time i had fun doing that, which are somewhere else in the house)(yes that’s the asterisk from waaayyy up there.) what’s definitely unspinnable i’ll probably make into ✨ dryer balls ✨ (i’ve made a few with Old, Old Yarn and Small, Samll Leftovers recently. they are Good.)

soooooo. LET’S GO THEN.

… now i just need to free at least one bobbin, and decide what to listen to/watch from half an eye while i spin. hm. not super easy.
