Life among flowers by artist Claire Basler.
French artist Claire Basler was born in 1960 in the city of Vincennes. While studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she spent hours wandering the halls of the Louvre, enjoying and being inspired by the museum's masterpieces. It was then that she was fascinated by the paintings of French artists of the 18th century, and the works of the great Antoine Watteau became a starting point in her own work. Her style was finally formed after adding the lightness and unpredictability of Cy Twombly's manner. Over the years, Claire has developed a unique, inimitable style of writing that is unique to her. complementing the European school of craftsmanship with the influences of Asian graphics. Her landscapes combine features of two directions. On the one hand, the depicted flowers, grasses and ancient trees look very realistic. On the other hand, the works are characterized by the dynamics of impressionism.
When the question of choosing a place to live arose, Claire showed determination and chose the ancient 13th-century castle Chateau de Beauvoir, in a rural suburb of Paris. And for several years now, the artist has been decorating the deserted halls of her castle with frescoes. Claire's works are appreciated not only by art lovers, but also by interior designers. She paints floral landscapes, filling them with powerful energy of light and shadow. She creates her own idyll through flowers, herbs and trees, through miniature paintings and giant canvases. In Basler’s paintings one feels an inner unity with nature. Claire's true inspiration is nature: forests, rural landscapes, periods of luxurious flowering and lush wilting...

Claire Basler (b 1960, French) has always been inspired by nature ever since she has been a child.
Growing up with a father who besides practising Architecture had a wealth of plant knowledge and the “botanist spirit” as Claire phrased it. With her dropping out to of Art school she was going against the conceptual art movement to stay true to herself and to paint what she loved and was inspired by most: Nature
Depicting complex beauty became what Claire was fascinated most by. Picking and foraging fresh plants she studies them, observes their lifecycle and paints them with their innert sensuality bringing her art to life. It is that vibrancy that pulls the spectator into a glimpse of Claires own nature and sensibility.
As one of the first artists she wanted to push open the door to the public showing her process and sharing her craft at her studio through her now infamous open days and her sense of self has carried through all her work until this very day.
Her depictions of delicate flowers moving gracefully from one end of the frame to the next and brushstrokes imitating the wilderness found in nature itself have become loved by many. Besides painting large murals she uses her sense of space to create fabrics and materials for interiors strongly believing that decoration is not just artificial but enhances the way we work, live and breathe in our environment as she herself breathes through her artwork.
