Unification Church/FFWPU makes false claims over photo to promote Moon as a ‘hero.’
Tumblr media
Moon himself claimed to have carried Chung-hwa Pak for 600 miles!
Won-pil Kim, Bo Hi Pak, Hyo Jin Moon and Jin-hun Yong all repeated the lie.
From 1983, when the photo (above) surfaced in a newspaper story (see below), the Unification Church leaders always knew it was not of Moon and Pak. But they decided to use it for propaganda, regardless of the truth.
Three men made the journey from Pyongyang in North Korea to Kyongju in the winter of 1950-51: Sun Myung Moon, Won-pil Kim and Chung-hwa Pak. Pak remained in Kyongju – for a couple of years – while Moon and Kim continued on to Busan on the south coast. The Unification Church frequently STILL claim this photo is of Moon carrying Chung-hwa Pak to Yongmae Island. The detour to Yongmae Island never happened either! Won-pil Kim was forced to remove the photo from his testimony book – and he had been one of the three refugees! He repeated his false testimony all over the world.

▲ The profile photo of Moon praying (above) was taken at Heung-in Dong in about 1955. Comparing the facial profiles of Moon and the refugee carrying his father, it is clear that Moon is not in the photo. Moon was 30 at the time of the journey. The refugees are both older than Moon and Pak were in 1950.
Chung-hwa Pak explains how he first saw the photo: “One day in 1983, the international department of the church contacted me. They asked me to stop by because they had some questions to ask. They showed me a picture in the Choong Ang Ilbo newspaper. It was a picture of a man carrying another man on his back, and they were crossing a river. They asked me whether it was a picture of Moon carrying me on his back. I answered them that we had no chance to take any pictures at that time. I never crossed any river on Moon’s back. They said nothing and I thought that was the end of it.”

Chung-hwa Pak explains how his ankle was fractured – his leg was not broken:
“One day [in Pyongyang] I was surrounded by a gang of thugs who called themselves a security force. They were just thugs who joined the North Korean side when it was in control, and later swapped to the opposite side. They said, “You were a real communist who served as a company commander in the North Korean army. We will kill you!” Then some of them struck my leg with hammers. My ankle was fractured and I couldn’t move. I thought that my life was going to end there. An unexpected twist of fate saved me. Fortunately, I was saved by Korean Military Police. I was questioned, but because I had been imprisoned in North Korea I was soon released. All the other prisoners were executed. They were shot. I was a black belt in judo, but I really needed to get treatment for my injury. There were no hospitals in Pyongyang that were functioning.”

Hyo Jin Moon gave a sermon based on the invented story: Inheriting God’s Heart And True Parents’ Heart
April 28, 1991    Belvedere, New York
When he was carrying that person on his back he tried to compare himself to … it’s bothersome sometimes to think of some of the people who were with Father in the beginning. Anyway … many of you have seen those pictures of Father carrying Mr. Pak. He was carrying that person across the seabed [to Yongmae Island] a distance of about six kilometers.
I’ll try to tell you later the circumstances surrounding it. I’ll try to explain it in the video. He had literally to carry this person even though his own physical condition, just coming out of prison, was not good. All through his time in prison he utilized his imagination, thinking.. “I must overcome no matter how difficult it is.” He gave himself inspiration. He relied on his imagination to see that his work was incomparable to the kind of suffering God was facing. He really tried to think about God’s heart and tried to visualize the suffering of God. Based on the visuals that he created with his imagination about God, he overcame all those difficulties, even when he was carrying Mr. Pak. Of course it was physically difficult; he had just come out of Hungnam prison, living under those circumstances for almost three years. Obviously, he was not in shape physically to carry anybody for that long distance, let alone across a slippery, muddy seabed. Try to put yourself in that situation. But he thought to himself, “I’m not carrying a man, I’m not feeling this physical pain.” While he was carrying this person he tried to think about God’s heart. He imagined, ‘This load is nothing compared to what I must bear in order to complete the mission of restoring humanity. This is nothing compared to what I must face later on.” Based on that idea, relying on his pure imagination, Father drew a pure rationale to help him persevere through all kinds of hardship.
Ultimately they reached their destination, but couldn’t find any boat to travel down to South Korea [Inchon] and he had to walk back carrying this man again. He had to travel the same course again. It’s just unbelievable that anybody in that situation, indebted to a person in that way, would ever forget their gratitude. But this person, he rejected Father later on. I guess he couldn’t bear the persecution that he was receiving from all around him. He couldn’t take it so he left. That’s the course of Father. In a way that is the essence of his life. Over and over. People who were to assist and support Father rejected him because of their own individual lack of understanding.
Through these difficult times Father relied on his imagination. He believed in the ideal world. He believed that what he imagined would one day come true.

Chung-hwa Pak said, in a 1993 interview in Seoul, that on the way south Moon had only carried him a couple of times, and each time for only around 400 yards, during the entire journey from Pyongyang to Kyongju. Pak clearly said that Moon had never carried him across any water.
Michael Breen recounts just two incidents of Moon carrying Pak in his book, Sun Myung Moon, the early years – on pages 129 and 135.

Here is how Moon boasts about his achievement: The Necessity for the Day of Victory of Love
January 15, 1984 – Tarrytown, New York“Upon the victory of my prison experience, I can claim the foundation for the fatherland. After being liberated by United Nations forces, I carried Mr. Chun Hwa Pak 600 miles from North to South Korea. Most people aren’t even able to go beyond their own needs, but I showed the example of serving others by carrying Mr. Pak for that distance.”

Here are the words of Bo Hi Pak in an interview in the documentary “Emperor of the Universe” which was broadcast in 2000:
Narrator: “His followers speak with awe of how he carried an injured man across Korea.”
Bo Hi Pak: “roughly 200 miles walking and walking in a mountain he carried him on the back. 80kg man on the back, all the way to the south. To me alone that shows him the messiah to me.”

Michael Breen’s description in his book ‘Sun Myung Moon, the early years’ (pages 135-136) is no doubt much closer to the truth than the words of Moon and Bo Hi Pak:
“From Jechon, they took the old road, which used to be the main communication link from Seoul to the south-east in the days before the railroad. It took seven to eight hours one day to struggle over the Moongyeong Pass, at the boundary of North Chungchong and North Kyongsang provinces. Kim carried the bicycle, and Moon carried Pak up the steep, icy track, which was covered in fresh snow. At the top of the pass, they walked through the ancient gate. They stopped at the town of Caun. Pak’s leg was improving and from here, he was able to ride the bicycle without being pushed. …
With Pak now able to walk, they travelled rapidly southwards, through Andong, Uiseong, and Yongcheon. They arrived one evening at Koncheon, near the historic town of Kyongju. …
Moon and Kim Won-pil [left Pak behind in Kyongju and] continued on to Ulsan, a fishing port on the east coast. There they bought train tickets, and travelled the last fifty kilometres of their journey to Pusan in two hours. They rode up front, clinging on to the front of the engine. They arrived at Choryung Station in Pusan, cold and hungry, on January 27, 1951.
However, on pages 129-130 Breen does include a version of the Yongmae Island story which he most probably got from Won-pil Kim.

On Moon’s Relationships with the Choi Family
Excerpts from The Choi Family Entanglements, recently updated on May 13, 2023
Tumblr media
▲ Pictured: These are the only known photos of Choi Seon-gil (also written as Sun-kil Choi) and Sun Myung Moon together. They were taken around early 1955 by Eu Hyo-min, probably in Seoul. He explained that Choi had challenged her husband when she caught him having sex with two women.
From a Japanese article: “It is complicated. This is the part that has been erased from the history of the Unification Church.
Sun Myung Moon’s first wife was Choi Seon-gil LINK
She was the niece of Choi Seong-mo (see obituary below)
Choi Seon-gil’s uncle was Choi Seong-mo
He was the brother of Choi Seon-gil’s father.
Choi Seong-mo’s wife was Lee Duk-sam. [He married Lee when he was 29. Lee left Choi to follow Sun Myung Moon.]
Choi Seong-mo’s eldest daughter: Choi Soon-shil [She arrested for group sex in Moon’s church in July 1955.] LINK
Choi Seong-mo’s second daughter: Choi Soon-wha LINK [She is the mother of Sam Park, born in 1966, fathered by Sun Myung Moon.]
Choi Seong-mo’s eldest son: Choi Soon-yeong LINK [He inherited the chaebol/business]
Choi Seong-mo’s second son: Choi Soon-kwang
Choi Seong-mo’s third son: Choi Soon-kil
I can understand the feelings of Mr. Choi Seong-mo, who was the husband of Mrs. Lee Duk-sam. He pushed the police to investigate Teacher Moon, and he wanted to beat the Unification Church. At first I thought Mr. Choi Seong-mo hated Teacher Moon because Moon married Choi Seon-gil, who was Mr. Choi’s niece. But apparently he was indignant about the relationship between his wife and Teacher Moon. That is why he called Teacher Moon ‘the devil’.
It’s become a mess.”
[One of the sons, either Soon-kwang or Soon-kil, was active against Sun Myung Moon, but was heavily persecuted by the organization.]

This photograph was taken at around the time of that selection. Oh raised money to get Moon out of jail in 1955, following the Ewha Womans University sex scandal. LINK
Oh Yeong-choon witnessed to Lee Duk-sam in Busan. After Lee Duk-sam joined, she brought her two daughters, Choi Soon-shil and Choi Soon-wha, into the UC. Choi Soon-yeong who was younger resisted recuitment, even though he was under pressure from his mother to join. Moon took the daughters to Seoul to be with him in the fall of 1953. It has been reported that he “restored” the two of them in a small hotel near the Seoul train station. Soon-shil went to Yonsei University and Soon-wha to Ewha Womans University. In 1964 Soon-wha traveled to Washington, DC, to go to university there. She wanted to get away from Moon. In 1965, during his first world tour, Moon spent three months in DC having sex with Soon-wha, aka Annie. He did not leave the US until he knew she was pregnant. Sam Park was born on January 28, 1966.

Moon talks about the Pikareum Return Ceremony
Here's a quote from Sun Myung Moon:
"What is the most precious thing for any man or woman? [Their sexual organs.] What are these? (Showing a photograph of the stones resembling men's and women's sexual organs that were discovered by a spiritualist-who is not a member-and given to True Parents) These were revived and they reached us here. They had fallen into the soil, as stones, or lower than that. Having gone from the sorrowful stage for all things to the revival stage, and having passed over all the hills of all things and of humankind, they have finally returned to True Parents. This makes the return ceremony possible: the false lineage could return to God. The fact that the return ceremony was possible itself was a miracle. There are many stones resembling the sexual organs of man and woman, but nothing like these. They are so similar, even in the details. These are the palaces of love, the palaces of life, the palaces of lineage, the palaces of conscience, the very foundation of everything. God created heaven and earth for this. For love."
https://www.tparents.org/Moon-Talks/SunMyungMoon00/SunMyungMoon-000701.htm
-------------------------------------------------------
Here's what Chong-hwa Pak said in an interview about the "Return Ceremony":
Pak: The mission of Christ was to take Eve back from Satan who had stolen her. To do this Christ must have sexual intercourse with six married women, including Mary his own mother, in order to cleanse the blood. (Moon called it “the return.”) But Jesus Christ left this world having failed to save even one married woman by doing “the return” [pikareum] with them. So God sent Sun Myung Moon to earth as the third Adam. His mission was to cleanse the blood of six married women, namely the Six Marys. This was to be done by sexual intercourse with Moon three times [formation, growth and completion]. Through a kind of relay sexual intercourse with these Marys, humankind could be cleansed and saved and brought back to God’s side for the first time. It was Moon who preached this “Principle” to Mr. Pak.
Nakamura: Mr. Pak, when did you actually witness, with your own eyes, the return ceremony, the so-called pikareum?
Pak: In 1954, when the Unification Church was founded in Seoul, I was living together with Moon and the Six Marys – who had received “the return” – and other founding members.
Nakamura: Together with married women?
Pak: Yes. When they are brainwashed by Moon’s “Principle” they do not like to have sex with their husbands anymore. This is because one of the things Moon teaches is “You must not sleep with your husband who is on Satan’s side.” They all lived in the church making bromide photographs [to sell], which was the main economic activity of the church in those days, or did other work. The Marys did “the return” work with other male followers to increase the number of owners of pure blood. Nakamura: Did you see Moon doing sexual intercourse for that?
Pak: Yes, and it wasn’t rare either. And I also heard the chuckling and cackling of the women I knew to be in Moon’s room. I am ashamed that I, together with them, participated in such a thing. I have to admit that I did it. I did “the return” with a woman called Shin-hee Eu [ 劉信姫 ]. It was according to the teachings of Moon’s “Principle.” Later Moon advocated that she do “the return” with the male follower Deok-jin Kim [ 金徳振 ]. [Deok-jin Kim wrote many of the Unification Church ‘Holy Songs.’] Mr. Kim then did “the return” with other female followers. The chain of doing “the return” spread from one after another. I knew of 70 people who were in the chain.
Nakamura: When you were doing the “the return” did you wear special clothes or make solemn ceremonies?
Pak: There was nothing like that. Moon asked us to participate and it was just… In retrospect it was like an immoral party. Nakamura: ...did Moon do the “the return” [pikareum] with other virgins?
Pak: Yes, I assume there were a lot. Moon’s mission was said to be the restoration of the first Six Marys through pikareum, and then to pick one virgin to marry. The virgin represented Eve. He would then hold “The Marriage of the Lamb” (a formal marriage) with the virgin Eve. Moon who is the Lord of the Second Advent would then become, together with his bride, the “True Father” and the “True Mother.” However Moon demanded to have relationships with some virgins. Thus a woman called Lee Seong-wha (a pseudonym) who was a devoted follower had her virginity taken by Moon and became pregnant. Lee Sun-cheol (also a pseudonym), her sister, was also robbed of her virginity and became pregnant.

-----------------------------------------------------
It's good that we can find these admissions by Sun Myung Moon. No one can deny the reality of Pikareum in the Unification Church.

Moon lied when he claimed: “I carried Mr. Chung-hwa Pak 600 miles from North to South Korea”
Tumblr media
Mrs Ok, Moon and Mrs Chi with Won-pil Kim sitting in the front. Mid 1950s.
The three who travelled south together from Pyongyang were Moon, Chung-hwa Pak and Won-pil Kim.
The Necessity for the Day of Victory of Love January 15, 1984 – Tarrytown, New York
Sun Myung Moon: “Upon the victory of my prison experience, I can claim the foundation for the fatherland. After being liberated by United Nations forces [in October 1950], I carried Mr. Chung-hwa Pak 600 miles from North to South Korea. Most people aren’t even able to go beyond their own needs, but I showed the example of serving others by carrying Mr. Pak for that distance.”
Chung-hwa Pak said in an interview given in 1993 in Seoul that on the journey south from Pyongyang to Kyongju in South Korea, Moon had only carried him twice. Each time it was only for about 400 yards. Pak also clearly said that Moon had never carried him across any water and that the picture of a refugee carrying his father (see below) had nothing to do with himself or Moon.
Michael Breen recounts just two incidents of Moon carrying Pak in his book, Sun Myung Moon, the early years – on pages 129 and 135. And in an interview he gave to Today's World in March 2000 (pages 28-29) he confirms that fact:
Breen: “Also, Chung-hwa Pak, whom Father met in Heungnam, was extremely helpful. What was good was that he had an extremely detailed memory. One thing he was upset about was that church members believed that Father had carried him all the way to South Korea on his back. So he went into great detail describing the two occasions when Father actually did carry him on his back.”
Here are the words of Bo Hi Pak in an interview in the documentary “Emperor of the Universe” which was broadcast in 2000:
Narrator: “His followers speak with awe of how he carried an injured man across Korea.”
Bo Hi Pak: “... roughly 200 miles walking and walking in a mountain he carried him on the back. 80kg man on the back, all the way to the south. To me alone that shows him the messiah to me.”
Sun Myung Moon and Bo Hi Pak were both liars.
The Unification Church / FFWPU makes false claims over photo to promote Moon as a ‘hero.’
Michael Breen’s description in his book ‘Sun Myung Moon, the early years’ (pages 135-136) is no doubt much closer to the truth than the words of Moon or Bo Hi Pak:
“From Jechon, they took the old road, which used to be the main communication link from Seoul to the south-east in the days before the railroad. It took seven to eight hours one day to struggle over the Moongyeong Pass, at the boundary of North Chungchong and North Kyongsang provinces. Kim carried the bicycle, and Moon carried Pak up the steep, icy track, which was covered in fresh snow. At the top of the pass, they walked through the ancient gate. They stopped at the town of Caun. Pak’s leg was improving [his ankle had been fractured in Pyongyang] and from here, he was able to ride the bicycle without being pushed. …
[A short while later] With Pak now able to walk, they travelled rapidly southwards, through Andong, Uiseong, and Yongcheon. They arrived one evening at Koncheon, near the historic town of Kyongju. …

They arrived at Choryung Station in Pusan, cold and hungry, on January 27, 1951.”
Tumblr media
Won-pil Kim used this “walking to Yongmae Island” photo in his own testimony book. The story is a complete fabrication and Kim contradicted himself when telling it. First he said there was a boat on the island and then he said there was none, etc… And he changed his own map of the journey, leaving the detour to the island out of a later version of his own map. He said Chung-hwa Pak had a full plaster on his “broken leg”. Pak’s ankle was fractured but soon was healed enough for him to ride a bicycle on his own as the three of them travelled south. His leg was never in a plaster cast. There were no medics to do that.
Won-pil Kim was a liar.
When Kim’s island story was proved to be fake news, he quickly changed his testimony book and the Japanese UC issued a second edition without the photo he had fraudulently used.
Many church publications have the sole purpose of keeping the members indoctrinated with lies. Moon’s own speeches are no better.
The Unification Church Yongmae Island fake story
Won-pil Kim was inconsistent with his lies. His own testimony book had to be revised.

Eu Hyo-min was a 36 couple. What happened to him?
Tumblr media

Eu Hyo-min, an entrepreneur who built the Unification Church finances
Park Chong-Hwa: “I want to explain about Eu Hyo-min. He was another person who contributed to the development of the Unification Church. In the early years the economic circumstances were extremely difficult. At the time Eu Hyo-min had the idea of making and selling bromide photographs to sustain the lives of the members.
In addition, he invented an air rifle “which could use buckshot” (see Chapter 7). It was decided to build an economic foundation for the Unification Church by manufacturing and selling the gun. This gradually developed and the “Tong-il Industrial Co., Ltd.” was established. Kim In-chul was appointed as the representative director. Eu Hyo-min was only given the position of assembly manager. [Eu Hyo-min said he “was not eligible to hold a firearm manufacturing permit” because he had a criminal record following the Ewha University sex scandal of 1955 when he had been jailed.]
However, Eu Hyo-min, who was the most important contributor, was given only a thousand shares, and the patent for the invention of air gun was put in the name of Sun Myung Moon. After Eu Hyo-min left the job of manager to his successor, Baek Gu-pyeon, he was in charge of out-sourcing at the Yehwa (예화) air-gun factory at Eulji-no.
Tumblr media
▲ Japanese members at one of Moon’s gun factories in Korea (or in Japan) in the 1970s.
Eu Hyo-min had to submit all his receipts to the company for every single thing he spent, down to 30 won for a cup of tea. He was under serious surveillance, which must have been on Sun Myung Moon’s instructions. It may have been a plan in preparation for driving him out of the Unification Church at a later date, just as had happened to me.
Finally, Eu Hyo-min broke with the Unification Church and left in 1972.
After I, Pak Chong-hwa, left, Eu Hyo-min became the secretary to Sun Myung Moon. He was the second person after me to leave the church after having worked very hard like Moon’s shadow.

▲ From the left, Eu Hyo-min, the author (Pak Chong-hwa) and Eu Hyo-yeong (around 1992).
I, Pak Chong-hwa, was the very first secretary, and was betrayed by Sun Myung Moon in this way. Eu Hyo-min was the second secretary who left because his life became too difficult, and Song Do-wook, the third secretary, and Eu Hyo-won, who gave distinguished service to the church with his wisdom, have both died. It is thought-provoking to look at these facts and consider if this was the plan of God, or the plan of Sun Myung Moon.
The time from 1953, when I was with Sun Myung Moon, until I went to the Seojin mine in 1956 was when we faced the hardest time in the development of the Unification Church. Back then there were no relatives of Sun Myung Moon in the church organization. Later Moon Seong-kyun, Moon Yong-seon [and Moon Seung-ryong] came in, and as the economic foundation of the Unification Church grew, almost all of the management positions came to be held by relatives of Sun Myung Moon.
In fact, it is Sun Myung Moon himself who knows best that he himself is not the second coming messiah. I came to think that he was implementing a plan to secure his future life base by handing the assets of Unification Church to his relatives whom he could trust.

Sun Myung Moon’s second wife was Kim Chong-hwa. Both were jailed for bigamy since both were already married.
The family of the late Sun Myung Moon (of the Unification Church) is ‘more corrupt than you can imagine’
Sunday Journal USA Vol. 878, April 25, 2013 (part 2)
Moon Sun Myung married his first wife, Miss Choi Seon-gil, on April 28, 1945. [She was 19 when she was first introduced to Mr Moon.] They had a son, Moon Sung-jin, who was born on April 9, 1946. It became known that Moon Sun Myung and Choi Seon-gil divorced on January 8, 1957, on the grounds of the so-called Unification Church pikareum doctrine (a ceremony to restore the blood lineage [through ritual sex]). ...
Mr. Moon’s second wife was Mrs. Kim Chong-hwa. At this time, after being accused by Kim’s husband Cheong Myeong-seon of being involved in a ceremony to restore the blood lineage [pikareum], Moon Sun Myung [and Kim Chong-hwa were arrested on] February 22, 1948 and he was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He carried out the sentence at prisons in Pyongyang, Daedong and Heungnam.

“The police of the North Korean puppet regime arrested Sun Myung Moon [in Pyongyang] on the charge of bigamy/sexual immorality. The reason was the husband of a certain Mrs Kim [金鍾和 Kim Chong-hwa] made an accusation to the police. The husband now lives in Seoul. At that time Moon said that he and Mrs Kim should marry because he had a revelation from God, although Moon still had a legal wife [Choi Seon-gil in Seoul]. When the police stepped in Moon was in the middle of doing this coerced marriage with the woman follower, Mrs Kim. The police arrested them. Mrs Kim was sentenced to ten months in prison. Moon was given a sentence of five years and six months. She was the women’s group leader at the Somunae-pak Church, one of the largest Presbyterian churches in the city. She would become his main follower in north Korea. ‘A great preacher has come from Seoul,’ she told her husband’s cousin, Kim In-ju, also a Presbyterian…”
“In January, 1947, he [Moon] moved to the house of Kim Chong-hwa and her husband, Chong Myong-sun, who had become the leading members of his small group.”
“In Pyongyang, his followers did not keep in contact with each other. The only member who could have held the others together in Moon’s absence [in Heungnam prison] was Kim Chong-hwa, who had been sentenced to eighteen months in prison at the same time as Moon, but she had been unable to reconcile her faith in Moon with God’s apparent inability to prevent him from being sent to prison. She was released after one year, and was no longer interested in him or his followers.”

Chicago Tribune: “Government Files Trace Moon Church from Sex Cult”

The pikareum practices of Sun Myung Moon exposed.
“The Moonies:  Government Files Trace Church from Sex Cult to Korean CIA”
Tumblr media
James Coates of the Chicago Tribune
March 27, 1978     Section 1  3
WASHINGTON — Once-secret government files released by a House subcommittee trace the so-called “Moonie” church from its origins as a small-time Korean sex cult to a worldwide organization operated by the Korean Central Intelligence Agency.
The documents, soon to be the subject of public hearings, indicate the Unification (Moonie) Church was used by the Korean government as part of a lobbying effort in the U.S. Congress.
Diplomatic cables said that the church patriarch, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, headed a Korean cult that “interprets the Bible in sexual terms.” The KCIA decided to use Moon in a scheme that grew to include other Koreans bribing congressmen, the documents said.
A U.S. Central intelligence Agency report, marked “unevaluated” and written in February 1963, said that Lt. Col. Bo Hi Pak of the Korean army was working to expand the church into Washington under the direction of Kim Chong-pil, the director of the KCIA.
A cable sent to Washington from the American embassy in Seoul on August 26, 1966, describes an initiation ceremony for the church involving sexual relations. The cable said the church refers to such initiation as “baptizing.”
The author of the cable quoted Thomas Chung, president of the Korean Students’ Association in Washington, as saying: “Colonel Pak was in trouble because he had attempted to initiate into his church (i.e. to have sexual relations with) the wife of a visiting ROK (Korean government) official (either the minister of national defense or the chief of staff).”
The cable continued: “According to Chung, the matter had been hushed up, but only with difficulty, and Pak had nearly lost his job because of it.“
That cable also quotes another intelligence source: “He said that the church interprets the Bible in sexual terms and maintains that religious experience is interrelated with sex. MUN Son-myong (sic), leader of the church, was once arrested because of the sexual practices of the organization.” Spokesmen for Moon have acknowledged that the religious leader was arrested but maintained he was cleared of the charges.
The 1963 CIA document explained that the Korean intelligence agency planned to open a branch of the Unification Church (also called Tong Il) in Washington with Bo Hi Pak as the real leader.
Pak was to organize the church in America, the CIA report said, through an organization called the Korean Cultural and Freedom Foundation. The authors of the CIA in-house reports said their sources disclosed in 1963 that the KCIA chief, Kim Chong-pil, was using the church to advance his own political moves in Korea. The KCIA director was a ringleader in the coup that installed Park Chung Hee as president.’
Summaries of other top-secret U.S. intelligence reports released by Rep. Donald Fraser, D-Minn., indicate that in 1970 President Park Chung Hee launched a plan to use the Unification Church as part of the Korean effort to stop the U.S. from pulling troops out of the country.
One summary said that President Park planned to use Bo Hi Pak to operate lobbying efforts through the church, while the millionaire socialite, Tongsun Park, focused his efforts on entertaining members of Congress and passing out gifts.
In the final months of the Nixon Administration, the Unification Church held vigils outside the White House to oppose impeachment moves. Other Moonies walked the halls of Capitol Hill and urged congressmen to support Nixon and foreign aid for Korea.
Most church members are young unmarried adults who live in dormitories and devote their time to fundraising and other church-related activities in exchange for food, clothing and shelter. Church members and investigators who have infiltrated the church in recent years say that the Moonies live by a strict moral code that forbids sexual activity outside marriage.
However, the State Department reports — based on investigations of the Unification Church in the 1960s — paint a different picture.
At the time of the alleged effort to “baptize” a top official’s wife, Pak was assistant military attache at the Korean embassy in Washington.
Pak has told the House Subcommittee on U.S. Korean Relations that he left the embassy in 1964 to become affiliated with the Korean Cultural and Freedom Foundation. He is now president of the foundation and acts as interpreter for Moon.
During a lengthy and emotional speech before the House subcommittee, Pak branded as false all charges about his ties with the KCIA. He accused the House and the U.S. press of persecuting members of the Unification faith and trying to “crucify” Moon.
Pak ridiculed assertions that the Moon religion is actually a foreign affairs arm of the Korean Intelligence Agency.
“This subcommittee, in the powerful name of the US Congress, gave unqualified authenticity to a so-called intelligence report, which is trash, total lies, distorted, and vicious in nature,” Pak said.
He said that the Moon church is no more political than Catholic, Protestant, or Jewish congregations in the United States. Those churches, Pak said, actively and lawfully champion political causes as the Unification Church does.
Pak was not questioned about the alleged sexual practices. Fraser announced he will return Pak to the witness stand April 11 for more testimony.

Chong Gam Nok prophecy in the Divine Principle has nothing to do with Sun Myung Moon
Tumblr media
Chong Gam Nok / Jeong Kam Nok
Fact: “Chong-Gam-Nok 鄭鑑錄 means: ‘The record of Chong Gam’
The earliest written evidence of a document called Chong-Gam-Nok dates from 1785, but it is known that ideas from it were circulating at the time of Chong Yorip’s plot of 1589. Other plans from the time of Prince Kwanghae onwards had a similar background. Some historians believe that the predictions contained in Chong-Gam-Nok were symptomatic of widespread distress at the state of the government in mid-Choson. No manuscript or early printed edition has survived: only rough manuscript versions appear to have circulated before the 20th century. The core section tells of Chong Gam, a supposed ancestor of the Chong clans, talking with a supposed ancestor of the Yi in the Diamond Mountains and predicting that after some centuries of Yi rule in Hanyang (Seoul), the crown would pass to a Chong dynasty, set up on Kyeryong-san in South Chungchong province. The Chong dynasty would be followed in due time by a Cho dynasty, then Pom, Wang and other dynasties, all with different capitals. In the version printed in 1923, other elements of a similar prophetic kind have been added.”
from Korea: A Historical and Cultural Dictionary (1999) by Keith Pratt and Richard Rutt
Note:
1. The crown will pass to a Chong dynasty, then Cho, Pom and Wang. In Korea the family blood-line is crucial. It cannot be changed. Moon is not on the list. The prophecy is about a man named Chong, descended from Chong Mong Joo, the most famous scholar in the ancient Koryo dynasty. The family name of Chong is repeated many times.
2. The language of the book is ambiguous and can be interpreted in many ways, but it is clear about the Chong lineage.
3. When the Chong-Gam-Nok was printed for the first time in 1923, other material was added. It has mixed sources.
4. “Chong Do Ryung"  means "Chong – adorable young man of noble descent”. ref scholar Kyuk Am Yu Rok and others. Compare this translation of “Chong Do Ryung” with the Divine Principle translation below.
5. 鄭 can be written as Chong / Cheong / Chung / Jeong

3.3.4 Messianic Prophecies
“The Korean people have long cherished a messianic hope, nurtured by the clear testimonies of their prophets. The First Israel believed in the testimonies of its prophets that the Messiah would come as their king, establish the Kingdom and bring them salvation. The Second Israel was able to endure an arduous path of faith due in part to their hope in the return of Christ. Similarly, the Korean people, the Third Israel, have believed in the prophecy that the Righteous King will appear and found a glorious and everlasting kingdom in their land. Clinging to this hope, they found the strength to endure their afflictions. This messianic idea among the Korean people was revealed through the Chonggamnok, a book of prophecy written in the fourteenth century at the beginning of the Yi dynasty.
Because this prophecy foretold that a new king would emerge, the ruling class tried to suppress it. The Japanese colonial regime tried to stamp out this notion by burning the book and oppressing its believers. After Christianity became widely accepted, the idea was ridiculed as superstition. Nevertheless, this messianic hope still lives on, deeply ingrained in the soul of the Korean people. The hoped-for Righteous King foretold in the Chonggamnok has the appellation Chongdoryong (the one who comes with the true Word of God). In fact, this is a Korean prophecy of the Christ who is to return to Korea. Even before the introduction of Christianity to Korea, God had revealed through the Chonggamnok that the Messiah would come to that land. Today, scholars affirm that many passages of this book of prophecy coincide with the prophecies in the Bible.
Furthermore, among the faithful of every religion in Korea are those who have received revelations that the founders of their religions will return to Korea. We learned through our study of the progress of cultural spheres that all religions are converging toward one religion. God’s desire is for Christianity of the Last Days to become this final religion which can assume the responsibility of completing the goals of the many religions in history. The returning Christ, who comes as the center of Christianity, will attain the purposes which the founders of religions strove to accomplish. Therefore, with respect to his mission, Christ at his return may be regarded as the second coming of the founder of every religion. When the second comings of the founders of the various religions appear in Korea in fulfillment of the diverse revelations, they will not come as different individuals. One person, Christ at the Second Advent, will come as the fulfillment of all these revelations. The Lord whose coming has been revealed to believers in various religions, including the Maitreya Buddha in Buddhism, the True Man in Confucianism, the returning Ch’oe Su-un who founded the religion of Ch’ondogyo, and the coming of Chongdoryong in the Chonggamnok, will be none other than Christ at the Second Advent.

...
2. Another important factor which has influenced the Unification Church and several other new religious movements in Korea is the old scripture called Cheong Kam Nok (see below). It conveys both an indigenous form of the yin-yang philosophy, and also a sort of Messianic idea. It is a prophetic scripture and describes the apocalyptic catastrophies in a manner similar to the Biblical Apocalypse. In Cheong Kam Nok there is a prophecy that in the end period “the true man” will appear from the “Southern Ocean,” which is nothing but Korea itself. Moon’s understanding of himself is linked to this tradition. In his teaching there is a strong conviction that he himself is the elected prophet. ...

36 Couples – many left the FFWPU / Unification Church
                                    Updated December 16, 2018
Tumblr media
▲ In Seoul, after the final ceremony for the 36 couples, there was a public procession of the couples in cars. Moon always sought maximum publicity from the mass marriages he held.
This list should be an accurate list of the original 36 couples who were married by Moon. During 1960-1961 he held three ceremonies. He then put all the couples together as one group which became known as ‘the 36 couples’. When some defected they were replaced by couples from the 72 couples group or others. For example Mr. Moon said: “No one knows, if Seuk Joon-ho  [Dr. Seuk, the son of Mrs. Choi Won-pok] enters the 36 couples…” January 2, 1997, São Paulo, Brazil.

▲ Here are 12 of the Ewha Womans University students who were expelled because of the“scandalous rites” of the Unification Church. After their expulsion, the students managed to meet President Kim Hwallan on May 23, 1955. She stood by her decision. This picture was taken on campus after the meeting.
(Top from left) Seo Myung-jin, Lee Gye-soon*, Sa Gil-ja, Chi Saeng-ryeon**, Park Young-sook, Kang Jung-won and Chung Dae-hwa (who was later married to Kim Young-whi)
(Bottom from left) Choi Soon-wha (the mother of Sam Park), Yim Seung-hee***, Kim Jung-eun, Shin Mi-shik (later known as Mamasan Choi) and Park Seung-kyu.
* Lee Gye-soon entered Kyunghee University in 1957. She left the Unification Church over 50 years ago and had a successful career as a professor.
** Before Chi Saeng-ryeon joined she was known as Chi Mal-sook, and after she moved to the US in 1973 she was known as Mal-sook Lee.
*** Her name may be 朴承姫 Park Seung-hee and not 林 Yim or Lim Seung-hee.
Kim Yun-rye was also expelled but later made a pledge to give up the Unification Church, and Ewha Womans University allowed her to return to her studies.
Eight of the expelled students entered other universities in 1956.
Ewha in the list of 36 couples = Ewha Woman’s University students.
These ten women joined as students during the Ewha University Sex Scandal of 1955. There were other students who joined, but they were not included in the 36 couples marriage, which took place in stages during 1960-1961.
The Hongs (couple 16) left in the 1990s. They are the parents of Nansook Hong. Her brother, Jin-whi Hong, was married to Ye Jin Moon. He left before Nansook – and he helped Nansook to escape the East Garden compound.
Moon bought a house for each of the 36 couples. Apparently, because Korea is a “low-trust” nation, this was one way of trying to ensure their loyalty. Moon: “In Korea I bought houses for many early members of our Church and in the future I would like to take the responsibility of buying houses for all the black, white and yellow people. I am the only one in history who is doing this, but it isn’t easy.”
October 3, 1976  Belvedere, New York.  Translator: Bo Hi Pak.
The 36 couples were the first of two or three “Royal Blessings”. They definitely included the 36 and 72 couples and probably included the 124 couples. The wives from the “Royal Blessings” were all “purified” by Mr. Moon. The “Royal Couples” were also known as Mr. Moon’s “Tribe”. More is explained in this Shukan Post October 15, 1993 magazine article, published at the same time as Mr. Chong-hwa Pak’s book.
Some of the 36 couples became quite wealthy and lived in expensive properties. Some had Japanese members helping in their homes.
Moon kept many of the 36 couples separated from their spouses for years and years. This caused some couples great heartache – for example Kim Won-pil was one who longed to be with his wife. It caused complications in other couples.
It is a fact that the 36 couples all had “womb cleansing” pikareum sex rituals with Mr. Moon. The theology was explained to Japanese members in the early 1990s by Mr. Yoshiaki Hiro, Mr. Kunio Sano and Mr. Yasutomo Shirai. (Mr Takeru Kamiyama was to be the main lecturer, but he was in hospital with stomach problems.) There had also been lectures given in Japan about pikareum in the 1980s by a lecturer called Ota.
Here are some further quotes from Moon about the 36 couples:
“I have received many such certificates from Satan. One of the most dramatic was during the Blessing of the 36 couples. Incredible controversy erupted at that time; people were praying to God, “Please don’t let Reverend Moon take my son away. Let him die tonight instead.” … At the time of the 36 couple Blessing, the entire nation of Korea opposed me. I was a villain in the eyes of the country.”
December 27, 1981, Belvedere, New York.
“This is the first group of people I blessed. These cover every facet of our society every group of society so for everyone who accepts the principle there is room to go to heaven. They have their own ladder to climb up. They have their own channel. Do you understand? I want you to understand that I opened 36 doors so that every person here on earth has one door to get into. No opportunity is lost, there is always a door open for everyone out there, once they accept and repent they can go through one door which is the mercy of God.”
 May 20, 1978, London.
“All women’s love should unite with me. The 36 couples should not think about their own family, but how to save the nation.”
July 14, 2002, East Garden, New York.

The Famous Picture of Moon Carrying Chung Hwa Park
Tumblr media
One day in 1983, the international department of the church contacted me. They asked me to stop by because they had some questions to ask. They showed me a picture on the newspaper The Daily Central. It was a picture of a man carrying another man on his back crossing the river. They asked me whether it was the picture that Moon was carrying me on his back. And I answered them that we had no chance to take a picture at that time. And I never crossed the river on his back. They said nothing and I thought that was the end of it. But when I went to Japan in May, I found the picture enlarged and hung on the wall of an exhibition site. And people came to me to take a picture with me. They said that the picture was taken when Moon was carrying me on his back crossing the river. And they asked me to tell the story in detail.
If I told them the truth, Moon would be a liar. And I had to lie to them. The Japanese family seemed to be touched but I felt guilty. The same picture was on another newspaper and this time the picture was clearer. The people in the picture were not Moon and I. That was one of the church’s typical ways to deceive people.

In 1948 Moon was arrested for bigamy, sent to Heungnam prison and excommunicated
Tumblr media
Moon in handcuffs – photo from another of his sex trials – this one in 1955.
Moon never studied theology at a seminary, nor was he ordained by any main-line church. Apparently the Unification Church, or the The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity, has never been accepted by any council of churches. It was not accepted as Christian in Korea. The New York Council of Churches rejected the application of the Unification Church after studying the doctrines as laid out in the Divine Principle.
The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification is the name adopted by the Unification Church in 1996.
Jane Day Mook published a well-researched article, “New Growth on Burnt-Over Ground,” in “A.D.” magazine (May 1974), pages 30-36. It was published by the Presbyterian Historical Society. Here are some excerpts:
“Both the theology and what were understood as the practices of the Unification Church have been anathema to main-line Christians in Korea. Moon himself was excommunicated by the Presbyterian Church in Korea as long ago as 1948.
“His church has not been accepted as a member of either the National Council of Churches or the National Association of Evangelicals in Korea, both of whom state unequivocally that the Unification Church is not Christian.
“But Korea is used to offbeat religious movements. There are dozens of splinter sects and ‘new religions’ there.”
The author continues:
“Here reference must be made to ‘pikareum,’ or ‘blood separation,’ which is referred to in Japanese and Korean sources. In this secret initiation rite, it is said that the inner-core members must have intercourse. In the early days of the Unification Church, this was with Moon who, through the act, made pure the initiate.
“In 1955 in Seoul Moon was imprisoned briefly and several students and professors were expelled from their universities because of engaging in what were called “the scandalous rites of the Unification Church”.
Sun Myung Moon’s second wife was Chong-hwa Kim. He married Chong-hwa Kim on February 22, 1948 in Pyongyang, North Korea, while still married to his first wife, Sun-gil Choi. He had married Sun-gil Choi on May 9, 1945, and his divorce from her was on January 8, 1957.
Professor Kim In-Soo: “Sun Myung Moon performed a forced wedding ceremony with X X Kim, who was already married. Kim’s husband reported this to the police.” History of Christianity in Korea (2011) page 499
Moon’s own words: “…they decided to report me to the authorities. This is how I came to be jailed for a third time in my life. This occurred at 10:00 AM on February 22, 1948.”
Michael Breen: “A few days after his arrival in Pyongyang, he [Moon] met Chong-hwa Kim and her husband, who lived nearby in the northern suburb of Kyongchang-ri. She was the women’s group leader at the Somunae-pak Church, one of the largest Presbyterian churches in the city. She would become his main follower in north Korea. … In January, 1947, he [Moon] moved to the house of Kim Chong-hwa and her husband, Myong-sun Chong, who had become the leading members of his small group.” Michael Breen, Sun Myung Moon, the early years 1920-1953, pages 72 and 81.
Sun Myung Moon’s own testimony (Chong-hwa Kim is the only person who fits this description): “There was a woman who was an important figure in the providence [in Pyongyang]. I visited her house for a year and a half and witnessed to her husband and all the other members of her family. The husband might have wanted to kill me, but he couldn’t do anything.”
Mrs Kim and her husband had three children. While Sun Myung Moon was living in their house, the husband slept in the children’s bedroom. Mr Moon slept with Mrs Kim.
Jin-Hun Yong (Director of Education – UC World Mission Headquarters) confirms that Chong-hwa Kim 金鍾和 and her husband, Myeong-seon Chung 鄭明先, were both followers of Moon in 1946-1948 in Pyongyang. See his ‘Course for Re-launching Providence’ presentation.
Ryo Hagiwara: The Life of Sun Myung Moon – the Messiah of a Perverted Sex Religion (1991) page 70
“Sun Myung Moon was first arrested by the security police on August 11, 1946. He was detained for three months at the Daedong police station [in Pyongyang] on the charge of causing social disorder, for alleged sexual immorality. On February 22, 1948 Sun Myung Moon was arrested for a second time by the Ministry of the Interior 内務省 for his coerced marriage with a married woman, Mrs Chong-hwa Kim. On April 27 he was sentenced to five years in Heungnam prison.”
Japanese wikiwand (accessed on October 22, 2018) :
42. The cult [the Unification Church] teaches that he (Moon) was charged with “disturbing the social order”. In reality, (Moon) was arrested [on February 22, 1948] for adultery with a businessman’s wife. When the police stepped in, they caught him in the act of performing a suspicious ritual with Chong-hwa Kim. Moon was arrested and charged with coercing the woman into marriage. Because of the husband’s complaint the court sentenced Moon to five years in prison [at Heungnam]. It is said that the husband’s wife was also found guilty and was sentenced to ten months in jail.
Sun Myung Moon: “While I was in prison [in Heungnam], Mrs. Kim was incarcerated. Mrs. Kim was in the position of Rachel. … Grandmother Pak was in the Leah position.”

By Mr Arita Yoshifu    有田芳生
The Unification Church unmasked by a founding colleague of Sun Myung Moon
In prison because of an uproar over marriage to a married woman.
Mr. Chung-hwa Pak sat up straight and started speaking in fluent Japanese.
“Until recently Park Chung-hee was the president and there was no possibility to publish this book (The Tragedy of the Six Marys). However, we are now in the era of President Young-sam Kim who is a serious Christian. He is not connected to the hand of Sun Myung Moon – so now is the time. I believed that Sun Myung Moon was the Second Coming of the Messiah, and I left my family behind [to follow him]. That was a mistake, and it is one of the reasons why I wrote this book.”
“I belonged to the North Korean Second Brigade Second Battalion of the Ministry of the Interior. Some of my subordinates were involved in an illegal business in 1949. I received a sentence of three years imprisonment for the crime of dereliction of duty. At first I was in prison in Pyongyang, but eventually I was transferred to the Heungnam Special Labor Camp. Here I encountered Sun Myung Moon who was serving a five year prison sentence. He was charged with the crime of disturbing social order, because he attempted to wed himself to a married woman called Chong-hwa Kim 金鍾和.”
“In the camp I heard Moon's interpretation of the Bible and theories that he was the second coming of the messiah. Later I also participated in the founding of the Unification Church. That was the beginning of all my mistakes.”
Chung-hwa Pak – interview in Shūkan Gendai magazine
November 13, 1993
Mr. Atsuo Nakamura: “After you were released [from Heungnam prison] did you meet Mrs. Chong-hwa Kim?”
Mr. Pak: “I was not able to meet her straight away after I was released. Later, I met her [in Seoul] and we talked. I asked her and she admitted, at that time, she had sex with Moon. She spoke to me with tears streaming down her face: “I committed a crime that is not permitted, even if I confess it until I die. Moon is a big satan. I hate him so much I want to kill him.” However, she was not the only married woman who was a victim – there were other women.”
Los Angeles Times September 3, 2012
“Sun Myung Moon … problems with the North Korean government, which jailed him [in 1948] on charges of bigamy … He was freed in 1950. Moon’s first marriage, to Sung-gil Choe, ended in divorce in 1957. He had a son with her and another [Hee Jin Moon] with Myung-hee Kim, who lived with Moon during the 1950s. In 1960 he married Hak Ja Han, then a young disciple.”
http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-sun-myung-moon-20120903,0,619774.story
William J. Petersen: “According to the Rev. Won-Il Chei, a leading Presbyterian minister in Seoul, “If we believe those who have gone into the group and come out, they say that one has to receive Sun Myung Moon’s blood to receive salvation. That blood is ordinarily received by three periods of sexual intercourse. But this fact they themselves keep absolutely secret.” …
The Presbyterian church in Korea ruled the Unification Church as heretical for three reasons: (1) Sun Myung Moon has placed himself, more than Jesus Christ, as the object of faith; (2) their doctrine violated the morals of modern society; and (3) they would destroy the church by deceiving pure and sincere Christians.”
Those Curious New Cults (1975) page 250.
from an FBI report: “That Mr. Moon was excommunicated by the Presbyterian Church in Korea as long ago as 1948…”
Moon asked Chung-hwa Pak to visit Mrs. Chong-hwa Kim about seven times to persuade her to leave her husband and return to him. In the end Mrs. Kim realised her original husband loved her. She repented deeply for her sin of sexual relations with Sun Myung Moon. She was very grateful that her husband accepted her back. Later they moved to the U.S.
